What is most ridiculous about this accident is that emergency crews were racing across a busy runway because of a strong odor in another plane. We've gone too far with safety culture. No one's life was in danger, yet life was lost and many injured and traumatized. It's a complete lack of common sense.

Given the plane's weight, the impact was brutal, therefor the damage.

This is the first time i see a video hwo the accident came about.
Well, now the damage makes much more sense to me. Also as Beau just wrote (and Debra before that); the plane's speed was certainly a lot faster than 36 km/h !

Colombian military plane crash

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced in a post on X that at least one person was killed, 77 were injured, and the status of 43 others was yet to be determined.

“The causes of the Hercules plane accident are still unknown. Strength to the families of the young soldiers of the Homeland,” he said.​

A video recorded by residents of Puerto Leguizamo (Putumayo) has surfaced, apparently showing the moment when the FAC’s Lockheed C-130 Hercules crashed. The footage shows that the aircraft had barely taken off when it lost altitude and crashed.
