Possible Color Revolution Beginning in Chile

The very quick and effective widespread destruction of infrastructure definitely sounds like one step in someone's playbook rather than the spontaneous lashing out of a mob.

Either that, or this is another case of people really going crazy across the globe - getting hysterical, overreacting, manifesting outwardly the darkest feelings they carry inside. I mean, Catalonia, Ecuador, France, Hong Kong, the narco-shootous in Mexico, the Extinction Rebellion, etc. And that's just the last couple of weeks.

those videos are exaggerations in most cases and taken out of context (by minelians and people who simply hate the armed forces as considered lap dogs massacring their own people), there have been undeniably violent acts and certain negligence, but in general the military and law enforcement proceed with caution since the assassination if not supported in part will prove nothing but the wrath of the country and that is something they do not want at all.

Radio Boi Boi - It may be that c.a. picked up on a radio channel - who's main purpose is propaganda and to stir up more trouble? Notice, one of the radio's channels reaches Los Angeles, California in the U.S. where there are many Chilean's. Then look at how the American Press is portraying event's, with tanks in the streets and scenes of protesters and burning buildings. It's hard to distinguish photos from what is happening in Chile, from American coverage of the riots in Hong Kong? Both locations are being exaggerated in the Press. For instance, look at the 24 photos at the end of this first article.

Sunday October 20, 2019 - SANTIAGO - The Chilean general in charge of security in the capital Santiago under a state of emergency on Saturday announced a curfew in the city and outlying areas amid widespread protests.

General Javier Iturriaga del Campo said a full curfew would be enforced between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

“We invite all people to return to their homes to evaluate the measures the government has announced and look after their families and their homes,” the general told reporters in Santiago.

Three die after supermarket set on fire, flights out of Santiago delayed due to Chile riots
SANTIAGO - At least three people died after a supermarket in the Chilean capital Santiago was set alight by demonstrators, while many flights into the city’s airport were suspended as crew were unable to get to work, the city’s governor said on Sunday.

Santiago and other Chilean cities have been engulfed by several days of rioting as protests over an increase in public transport costs prompted President Sebastian Pinera to declare a state of emergency.

Santiago governor Karla Rubilar confirmed that three people died in a supermarket in the capital that was set on fire by demonstrators on Saturday.

“We regret to inform that according to preliminary information from Chilean police two people were found fatally burned in San Bernardo and a seriously injured person was moved to hospital where they died,” she said in a tweet on Sunday. She did not name the supermarket.

Flights operated by Chile’s biggest airlines LATAM and another, Sky Airline, were suspended or delayed on Sunday morning after a curfew, a public transport shutdown and continued rioting left flight crews struggling to get to work, Rubilar said.

Walmart Chile confirmed that it would close its stores across the country after 60 were damaged in the unrest in Santiago and its surroundings, Valparaíso, Antofagasta, Calama, Concepción, San Antonio and Temuco.

In December COP#25 in Santiago in Chile: Santiago Climate Change Conference - December 2019 | UNFCCC

Preparations are in full swing and Extinction Rebellion Belgium is happy to prepare in the EU:
In the meantime in poor Australia:
A poor country shows good will, like Bangladesh and they prepare as if nothing has happened:
Alas something is happening in Santiago, the Extinction Rebellion target group, school children, got hijacked and voila!
One Tweet said many flights cancelled because the staff can't reach the airport, and that some compare the situation to what is experienced after a major earth quake in 2010 measuring 8.8: 2010 Chile earthquake - Wikipedia

On the surface it looks as if the protests against higher fare is turned against the agenda of Extinction Rebellion, but what will be at the probable climate protests planned for COP#25?

All my solidarity with the noble Chilean people, who are in resistance against the neoliberal political criminals implemented by capitalism. I advocate the cessation of violence and the brutal repression that violates the human rights of the population. A hug Chile!

Chilean President Sebastian Pinera visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Tuesday as part of a state visit to the country, offering a prayer for peace in the Jewish state.

The billionaire businessman and Harvard-educated economist was accompanied by wife Cecilia Morel and a delegation of Chilean officials.

During his visit to the holy site, the Chilean president said he brought written prayers given to him by students at the Anne Frank school in Santiago, to be placed in the stones of the Western Wall.

A statement by Western Wall officials said Pinera then signed the site’s guestbook with a prayer for peace.

The visit by the center-right leader came after Pinera and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Brazil during the inauguration of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro in early January.

Such visits by foreign dignitaries to Jerusalem’s holy sites, including the Western Wall, the holiest place in Judaism at which Jews are permitted to pray freely, are adamantly opposed by Palestinians, who say they legitimize Israeli claims to the eastern half of the city, which they claim for the capital of a future Palestinian state.

A recent spate of such visits, including by senior US officials, has been held up in Israel as a sign of growing international recognition of Israel’s position.

Pinera is on a three-day visit to Israel and the Palestinian Authority that began Tuesday with a visit to Yad Vashem and will conclude Thursday after morning meetings with PA officials.

He is also slated to visit companies in the agritech and healthcare industries, and will meet President Reuven Rivlin for a formal welcome reception on Wednesday afternoon.

He is scheduled to hold a working meeting with Netanyahu later Wednesday, followed by dinner at the Prime Minister’s Residence.

Pinera, who previously led the South American nation from 2010 to 2014, won reelection in December 2017.

Pinera’s previous term saw steps to strengthen ties with Israel, as well as the adoption of a number of pro-Palestinian positions, including recognition of Palestinian statehood.

In 2011, Pinera visited Israel in the first such visit of a Chilean premier in order to sign a free trade agreement with the Jewish state.

Months later, however, angering Israeli officials, Pinera led the Chilean government in adopting a resolution “recognizing the existence of the State of Palestine as a free, independent and sovereign state.”

Speaking after the resolution was passed, Pinera said that warm ties with Israel and recognition of Palestinian statehood were not a contradiction.

“In this way we contribute to that end that may exist in the Middle East, a Palestinian state and a State of Israel that can live in peace and prosperity and recognized frontiers with secure borders,” he said.

Chile is home to some 15,000 Jews and what is thought to be the world’s largest Palestinian community outside the Arab world, with more than 300,000 members

Also Pinera’s other associations, and exploits!

The problem is that here the issue of the military is something very particular and delicate, and that's because the image of the military in the streets to many people, is especially relatives of family members of detainees/disappeared, makes them violent, because of what happened at the time of Pinochet dictatorship, and although they have acted with violence in some sectors, the real danger of violence is now transferred to the people.

Been monitoring this outlet Radio Boi Boi. Not saying it's a good source, but the station is taking calls from the Chilean people, discussing events in their district. Lots of chaos. Hope too all, a safe passage!

When we have a @GobiernodeChile and a cowardly right happens what we see today ... The far left took Chile while you made love to them ... Put on your pants and tell the president that he has no authority ..

The truth is that this communication media doesn't exaggerate, and it is the most reliable in terms of the veracity of the information delivered (it is like a kind of local RT), and between parentheses, it was very important when the communication systems collapsed for the earthquake of 2010, to bring help to people, etc. I would even say more and this is getting worse because this does not stop, and far from stopping, people keep going out to the streets and food supply centers are being practically ALL looted. Here, near where I live, a water matrix was broken so some sectors are running out of water supply.

Today in the morning even a mob of people tried to loot a "free fair" (managed by independent farmers), so the "ferianos" armed themselves with sticks and iron to defend themselves. So this could even be worse than the media itself is reporting.

Luckily they would have already solved the problem of breaking the water matrix here and it would have been something "minor."

Completed the second night under curfew here on the 5th Region coast. Heard people banging pots and pans in the street in defiance of the curfew and an explosion or shotgun blast in the distance. This morning, the military said there will be another curfew for this region.

This morning in Santiago, the main Metro line is operational at a reduced level minus 5 or more stations. Buses and fixed route taxis have been augmented to complete the limping public transport system on a day where schools and many businesses remain closed. Large lines outside the supermarkets and ATMs that survived the looting and fires. Banks and other financial services closed and many hand-to-mouth elderly outside pleading that they need to access to their pensions and money to buy basics after the long chaotic weekend.

Almost midday, the troublemakers are getting up and about so we will see if more looting and fires repeat this afternoon into the night.

Yesterday, scenes in Santiago of people banding together with bats and makeshift weapons to protect the entrances to their neighborhoods and even shuttered supermarkets that haven't been looted.

I don't know about the eleventh, but the others were found dead in burned buildings (like supermarkets) they were looting. What some people are discussing is the level of irrationality (one acquaintance even commented on a subversion of the "reptilian" brain).
Maybe it's a symptom of disintegration of people's psyche, starting with the less integrated ones.

The images we see about what is happening in Chile are disturbing because they remind us when Pinochet and the coup. It is very disturbing and I hope the members of the forum that live there are ok. I have myself a friend in Santiago but I don't know where he lives and if he is ok. Very sad to see all of this, really.

Piñera is looking weaker and weaker by the day. He really has only two choices left: present a massive comprehensive reform plan while not spooking foreign investment or mano duro duro to return to a state of order from where a discussion can begin.

Something many observers missed was how the general called in to restore security publicly contradicted the "we are at war" statement of the President. In Chile, a military man just does not do such a thing unless giving out a signal.

Today, peaceful protests and violent ones are spreading into all cities and the irrational destruction and the sacking of supermarkets and businesses large and small continues.

Half an hour into tonight's curfew, I hear banging pots and pans.

I watched Piñara's very short press conference and he announced a discussion with the political parties, including "the opposition", maybe including the communists. He also apologised saying "I talked harshly but..." (he hablado duro).
Given the circumstances, announcing publicly "we are at war" is irresponsible, given that some people speculate that the troubles may be organized by Venezuelian agents having infiltrated the recent immigration wave. However, being contradicted by the top military man in charge of the crisis is indeed odd. Also, Itirriaga said "I am at war with nobody" (no estoy en guerra con nadie), as if by using the first plural subject pronoun, instead of the usual "we", he distances himself from the presidential palace.
