Possible Color Revolution Beginning in Chile

Uff, they were delaying, but here they have it to their delight, the United States accuses Russia of promoting the situation in Chile.
"there are Russian people with fake accounts on Chilean social networks fending chaos "
Even in fake information on social networks, accusing Nicolas Maduro, and "chavistas" in Chile, but it happens that 99% of Venezuelans here, are not exactly "chavistas".

And now in Brooklyn!
Chaos in Brooklyn – 1,000 Anti Police Protesters Storm Subway

Chaos in Brooklyn as 1,000 anti-cop protesters storm subway stations yelling ‘don’t let these pigs touch us’ after a spate of violent arrests and the city’s vow to add even MORE officers to crackdown on anyone not paying the $2.75 fare

-Nearly 1,000 protesters took to the streets in Brooklyn Friday night to demonstrate NYPD excessive force and fare evasion crack down plans
-The demonstrators waved anti-police signs, shouted obscenities, vandalized a bus and cop car, and jumped subway turnstiles
-The protest was sparked by two headline-grabbing incidents involving black teens on October 25
-Protesters also demonstrated against plans to hire more cops to police the transit system for fare evaders

…banners bore slogans such as ‘Don’t let these pigs touch us,’ ‘F**k the police,’ ‘Punch that cop’ and ‘NYPD out of MTA,’ other signs read ‘Free transit,’ ‘Poverty is not a crime’ and ‘Our subways need more $ for elevators, not for cops.’

Their grievances stem from two issues. One, alleged police brutality against New Yorkers including a group of teenagers who officers were seen fighting with in a recent viral video.

The other issue is that police have vowed to create 500 additional jobs specifically for officers to monitor the subway network and arrest anyone who jumps the barriers rather than pay the $2.75 fee.

Over the last month. several videos have emerged of NYPD cops violently arresting seemingly nonviolent subway riders.

One, which circulated last week, showed them pounding on the windows of a subway car, waiting for the doors to open, before rushing on board, tackling the man to the ground. It is unclear why he is wanted. He had his hands in the air for several minutes before they arrested him and bystanders say the officers drew their guns.

The demonstration was said to have been brought on in part by two headline-grabbing incidents involving the NYPD that occurred on October 25 at different Brooklyn subway stations, which drew accusations of excessive force by police

A video of the first incident showed at least 10 police officers storming onto a stopped subway car and tackling an apparently unarmed black man inside, sparking accusations of excessive force.

The 19-year-old, who had his hands up and was seated at the time of the incident, was thought to have had a gun, but did not. He was later charged with theft of services.

The second incident involved two groups of teenagers who were said to have been fighting on the platform. In the course of breaking up the fight, a police officer was caught on camera punching two black teens.

One of the teens was 15-year-old Benjamin Marshall, who was punched in the face. His lawyer said Tuesday that his family intends to file a $5million lawsuit against the officer and the NYPD, according to the New York Daily News.

Marshall 'was the straw that broke the camel’s back,' one protester told the New York Post Friday. 'I mean, it’s monstrous. My f**king tax dollars are going to this? It doesn’t make sense.'

Protesters also complained about Gov. Andrew Cuomo's recent decision to add 500 new officers to NYPD's force to patrol the transit system and root out fare evaders.

[...]
Over the course of the two-hour protest, participants blocked traffic, shouted obscenities at nearby officers, jumped the subway turnstile en masse and committed acts of vandalization.

One group of protesters was seen surrounding a MTA bus, vandalizing it with stickers and writing anti-police graffiti on it, while passengers were aboard, according to the New York Post.

Passengers told the newspaper that the demonstrators were 'banging on the bus' and that one 'kid with a white mask and a hoodie' used a marker to scrawl graffiti - 'F**k NYPD' and 'NYPD KKK' - on the bus.

'I’m not gonna lie, it was scary,' a passenger said after getting off the bus.

The protest started just as President Trump took to Twitter to condemn his now-former hometown after declaring that he was moving his family to Florida.

Among his many tweets, Trump wrote: 'NYC is getting dirty & unsafe again, as our great police are being disrespected, even with water dumped on them, because a Mayor and Governor just don’t "have their backs." New York’s Finest must be cherished, respected and loved.'

Appears to have been a very organized protest.

The violence is not going down. And as the police are overwhelmed and tired at the three week mark, there will be more incidents of innocents getting hurt by police actions OR they may soon just say this is way above my pay grade (they are from the same working class they are policing) and not worth getting charged for a human rights violation so to hell with it.

The looting, vandalism and burning seem to be getting worse as they are now common and a given after every "peaceful" march.

Small business owners are at the point of taking the law into their own hands.

The daily lives of workers from the lower and middle class areas of Santiago is a nightmare: getting to and from work with a hobbled transport system and traffic lights missing or not operational and finding nearby supermarkets, pharmacies and banks that have not been destroyed.

People are on edge and growing impatient with both the government (the legislative and executive branches and all conventional political parties) and the free reign of the looters and vandals.

This is far from ending. With all the violence, we are close to a breaking point and no one knows where that will take us.

I'm not seeing much news on Chile on this end? Chilean President Sebastian Pinera has stated in a statement (second article) that the protests and riots were caused by outside interference and that many of the video's in the media were "fake" and not legitimate. If there are existing protests, outside media is not reporting on them - probably a news block out?

One report that is making the International news circuits, a devastating forest fire on the Chilean seaside city of Valparaiso on Christmas Eve. I have found short video clips of the fire but no indication on what set the forest fire? Was it a natural cause or was something else involved? The fire swept through a poor, lower income community.

Chile's President Sebastian Pinera on Monday signed off on a referendum to be held on a new constitution, which he vowed would generate a "solid, compassionate and legitimate framework" that would help reunify the country after nine weeks of intense protest over inequality and elitism.

There is no news blocking. There are still protests by radicals (mostly communists, anarchists and clueless students) but most people are fed up with the hysteria. A few acquaintences that were pro-protests are waking up to the realization that they were manipulated and the sole losers are the working people. Trade with China and Russia is virtually dead but more significantly, the social impact is more distrust between people and a solidification of victim mentality. As a social engineering experiment (Chile can be described as a social engineering laboratory), it's interesting to watch.

The truth angelburst, is that at this point everything is quite surreal here; starting with the president who effectively first said that, and then awkwardly declined what he said. Even a few days ago, they (the government) said something even much ridiculous like as it's that all this "social outburst" had been caused by the influence of Korean teenage music called "K-pop"

Yesterday burned a cinema, one of the few that gave "alternative" movies (art cinema), and apparently it would have been the police themselves who started the fire. The place was serving as Red Cross center attention to protests victims.

To this, is added the romantically exacerbation of media about "child defenders" of the "protestants" called "primera linea" (frontline) who are a mix between Marvel, Joker, Che Guevara, vegans and guerrilla teenagers (even emerged a video game, which you can be download nothing less than from Google Play). This exacerbation of course arises to further accentuate the hate and "struggle" between the people and the police, just in time that an "anti-hood" law has already been passed that also increases the penalties for those suspected of being involved in acts of protest. As mkrnhr says these are nothing more than clueless students (some half schizoid and suicidal) with a superhero complex.

The fires in Valparaiso are also quite suspicious.

All this in midsummer, when it's assumed that this would calm down a bit with people and students mostly on vacation, with high temperatures, etc. So a much blacker panorama is already glimpsed for march and april.

All quite interesting to be living this experiment in real time and life. This has been far more destructive to Chile's economy and prospects for future growth than the 2010 8.8 megaquake with the additional long-term polarizing of the people instead of unity through tragedy.

I've found myself caught up in the polarization as I've seen just how evil sectors of Chilean society can be whether hardcore Marxist (and I mean hardcore) Chile Communist party members and their iron control over unions; the new rich whose treat everyone below themselves like shit while also scamming their peers because that is what they think they are supposed to do when you "make it" who are probably largely responsible for this explosion of rage; the most overpaid legislature in the OECD and their bickering and ass covering; a President and executive in denial; a leftist judiciary and their seemingly intentional let the violent law breakers go policy; the narco and football gangs and their link to the most violent looting and vandalism and their supposed connections to those in power for starters off the top of my head. Then in between these forces there is the whole mass of 14-30ish year old "students" who have never held a real job, balanced the family finances, done the weekly shopping, most likely still living at home feeling just and heroic as they are throwing huge rocks, using wrist rockets with steel ammo, tossing molotov cocktails, creating flaming barricades on main throughfares, destroying public and private property and even participating with the lumpen and criminals in looting thinking the police should just stand there and take it or retreat without reacting to the violent end of their "peaceful" march which did not have the required municipal permission they never bothered to file because who needs to follow the law?

Our local Walmart hypermarket survived the many attempts at looting and now looks like a prison camp with barbed wire above and at ground level along the outside fence, huge steel welded plates covering all window areas and multiple steel doors and barriers for protection when they close up for the night. Fortunately, our area only lost two supermarkets where many other areas lost a lot more if not all their supermarkets and even banks.

The most violent and powerful union locally (port workers) made peace just as cruise ship season started so I think the rest of the summer here will be calmer till school starts and Chilean summer vacation month ends in March.

In April, I will be voting on the constitution questions.

Chilean President Sebastian Pinera on Wednesday declared a 90-day state of catastrophe as cases of the new coronavirus mounted in the nation, giving the government extraordinary powers to restrict freedom of movement and assure food supply and basic services.

March 18, 2020 - A military official will oversee the 90-day measure, which is set to take effect Thursday morning.

More restrictive actions would be implemented progressively, as dictated by the advance of the virus.

“This state (of catastrophe) is aimed at...preparing ourselves to confront what lies ahead,” Pinera said in a speech from the La Moneda presidential palace.

Pinera said there were 238 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Chile but no deaths. The country has closed schools, shut down its borders and limited public gatherings as the number of cases has multiplied.

Pinera said the order would also assure more security for hospitals, protect supply chains for medicines and allow the government to enforce quarantines and isolation measures.

The move is likely to stamp out any remaining protests over inequality after they were reignited in early March following several turbulent months of demonstrations and riots in late 2019.

Chilean politicians earlier this week began discussions to postpone a referendum on a new constitution scheduled for April 26. A new magna carta was a central demand of widespread social protests, but those have faded with the pandemic.

Chile to postpone referendum on new constitution as coronavirus concerns grow
Chilean lawmakers said on Thursday they had reached agreement to postpone until late October a much-anticipated referendum on a new constitution as safety concerns around the coronavirus outbreak take precedence over politics.
