Possible kidney problem

Welcome to the forum, Chris_x. :) It's customary to post an introduction in the Newbies Forum telling how you found the forum, how much of the associated material you've read, etc. It doesn't have to include personal information and you can have a look to see how others have done it, if you want.

Hi Rylek

I've had similar problems, over the summer last year I had slipped into eating nuts as a snack, which really irrirated my kidneys.
What I have found is that it's a combination of things and have been back to the doctor several times for tests. One thing that is free on the NHS but the doctor has to refer you is to see the physio, which has helped to strengthen my back muscles, do you find your back worse at certain times of day, or is it a constant.

I would also recommend Rolfing as I went several years ago and had some Hellerwork, which is the best treatment my body has ever had, it is worth saving up for if you can.

Well a GOOD chiropractor, like anything else, that knows what s/he is doing definitely can do something useful. Good luck getting it straightened out and let us know how it goes. :)

Or, you can also see an osteopath.
Keep us updated Rylek!

Thanks Gertrudes!

I think you ought to check into Rolfing. Heck, I think about everybody ought to get some good bodywork done and Rolfing is at the top of the list!

There is a Rolfer not too far away from where you are now living Rylek. Might be worth checking out.

Yes, I've been thinking about rolfing, thanks for the suggestion Laura and Pob. As I've mentioned, over the years I've been to a number of bodywork people, with mixed results. I do have scoliosis and an issue with my right hip, right leg a bit longer etc. But up until now it's been hit and miss with the treatment I've had.

Hi Liberty :)

Thank you, I've been considering the different possibilities that could have caused this; psychological, dietary, physical etc. Concerning the diet I've come up with a few variables to eliminate and see what happens. And nuts are part of that.

Also I am guilty of not exercising much lately and my posture in general has suffered.

So another visit to the doctor yesterday and the verdict, again, was that it's most likely my back. Apart from a higher blood pressure, which could be caused by the stress, I looked very healthy to them after the check-up. As far as other tests like blood-work or scans are concerned, they would consider it only after some time (3-5 weeks) if the symptoms persist. I guess unless I pay for private care I'll have to wait and see, it's true that the pain and inflammation has gone down over the last few days. I talked to the doctor about seeing a chiropractor and he said that it's up to me his view being that the jury is still out whether or not chiropractors do anything useful. Next step then chiropractor visit.

Good to hear. And I know it from myself too, that the back can really influence inner organs, especially when I'm stressed things are getting worse.

Thanks for the reminder and also thanks Oxajil for the link to the website. The flipside of rolfing is that it costs much money (maybe all things that help are expensive), at least here about 70€ for one session for regulars since health insurances are not covering costs. Nonetheless, some practitioners offer the first session for free and it is worth a try.
