Once again, there is a thread about Trump's administration intelligent and stupid ideas.
I don't want to intrude in an inter-american debate, but there are a few general considerations to take into account when considering what is happening, and what is to happen in the coming weeks, months, and years: First of all, there is the notion of "creating a precedent": In the same manner that the patriot act in the early 2000's lead to mass surveillance, "domestic terrorism", censorship, and so forth, controlling identities in the streets and door to door may create an antecedent for other things in the future. Second, illegal is not necessarily criminal. In a certain place a century ago, hiding Jewish families in the basement to avoid deportation (funnily, they didn't choose a synonym) was illegal. Third, punishing someone for something they've done before that something was redefined as a crime creates another precedent. In 2032 we might be sent to the gulag during a street control for not having been injected with the Pfizer injection in 2022. The ends do not always justify the means, and the results are often dependent on the means.
But again, this is not the best threat do discuss these things.
