Profile image changed by itself?

Hmmm - on my screen, you've had that avatar for at least a week if not longer. Did you just clean your cache or anything, so that you see it instead of the other avatar today? I don't know, otherwise...

Same thing for me. As anart suggested, maybe you have cleaned up your cahe or you have pressed the two keys that cleans up the cahce.

Now here is something weird and somewhere along the same lines of strangeness. When I turned on the computer last night the opening /homepage went to/opened on a website I had never heard of before.One that was for sale with strange numbers as a url. I once again refreshed the page to go to opening yahhoooo home page and again.

I never set it for this unknown page.

I just emptied my cache, restarted, and I see your avatar as a coffee mug.

I've just done the same and the coffee mug has returned. :)

Quite why it decided to morph into something else is beyond me.

No, such changes cannot be caused by properly working cache functions. Is anyone using this book avatar on the forum so that it could be simply assigned to the wrong user, whether by client or server software?
Thanks for the screenshot. This book avatar appears rather large to me. Is it actually possible to set and use such large avatars? You could post the source code of any page displaying that avatar or the important parts at least or try to determine the image's source.

I cleared my cache, re-logged in, and your avatar
is a funny monkey on a white coffee/tea mug.

I am guessing that your avatar upload may
not have replaced the old one or this updated
site has not been tested for this function?

Quite why it decided to morph into something else is beyond me.

I highly suggest you to reinstall your OS from scratch and apply free AV software and free AntiMalware software;)
