Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

Can anyone find the source of this? When did Putin apparently say that and what did he actually say?

If he said that or something similar, indeed it could be big news, as Gonzalo assumes as well, in his latest post:

This is huge — I cannot emphasize how big a deal this is.

As a practical matter, European demand for rubles will mean that the ruble as a currency will have enormous price support.

Get ready for the #PetroRuble in the #AgroRuble.

With the ruble mostly stuck in sanctions limbo and trading around 100 to the dollar in recent days (an improvement from the USDRUB 140 hit on March 8), the Kremlin appears to have found a new way to prop up the Russian currency besides merely central bank interventions: make foreign customers of Russian gas demand it.
During an address to the nation moments ago, Vladimir Putin said that Russia will demand that countries it has labeled “unfriendly” (which includes U.S., U.K., and European Union countries) must pay in rubles for Russian gas, Interfax reported. As a result, Putin ordered the central bank and government in a week’s time to determine the scheme of ruble payments for Russian gas, and also ordered Gazprom to make corresponding changes to gas contracts.
Following Putin's comments, the Russian ruble strengthened rising 3% at MICEX after indicative prices briefly jumped more than 8% twice; on Bloomberg terminals...

Here is a link from Zerohedge. It is only 'hostile countries' which will have to pay in Rubles.

Thank you, but I‘m still searching for the original place and time Putin said it and looking for a reliable translation of what he actually said. Like from the kremlin website for example. I note that in the above article there already seems to be quite a discrepancy compared to the earlier article on what he actually said. Details like this are pretty important, especially when the content of what is said has potentially far reaching consequences.

From my understanding of Russian - he said exactly that .Countries in Europe will have to pay for gas in Rubble. But I think we need someone who actually speaks Russian to clarify. Anyone?

I can appreciate that. According to RT, which I think is fairly reliable in translating, then it happened today at a government meeting. So as you say, it probably hasn't been translated on to the official site. I highlighted his words below.

Russia will now accept payment for gas exports to "unfriendly countries" in rubles only, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the government on Wednesday.
The president explained that Russia plans to abandon all “compromised” currencies in payment settlements. He added that illegitimate decisions by a number of Western countries to freeze Russia’s assets destroyed all confidence in their currencies.
“I have decided to implement in the shortest possible time a set of measures to change the payments for – yes let’s start with this – for our natural gas supplied to the so-called unfriendly countries in Russian rubles, that is to stop using all compromised currencies for transactions,” the Russian president said.
"It doesn't make sense to deliver our goods to the EU and the US and get paid in dollars and euros," he added.

Putin gave the Central Bank and the government a week to determine the procedure for operations for buying rubles on the domestic market for importers of Russian gas.
The president added that Russia will continue to supply gas in accordance with the volumes and pricing principles of the contracts. Only the currency of payment will change.
The announcement caused a spike in the cost of contracts for gas supply at the TTF European hub, Forbes Russia quoted data from the Intercontinental Exchange as indicating. During Wednesday’s trading, the gas price rose from €97 per megawatt hour (MWh) to approximately €108.5 per 1MWh, but after the president’s speech, it jumped by another €10 to €118.75 per 1MWh, before retreating to €114 per 1MWh as of 1pm GMT.
In the past month, Russia has been hit with several rounds of unprecedented international sanctions over its military operation in Ukraine. The US, EU, and their allies have cut off the country from their financial systems, limited dollar and euro transactions, and froze roughly $300 billion in Russian forex reserves abroad, among other measures. At the same time, they have continued to buy Russian oil and gas.

"Putin: Postanowiono jak najszybciej przeliczyć płatności za dostawy gazu do Europy na ruble.

Gdyby tylko potwierdziła się wiadomość, że Czubajs opuścił Rosję. Ale trudno uwierzyć, że pewnego dnia może być tak szczęśliwy."

Sorry. I published in Polish and I ran out of time to edit

Putin mentioned in the speech the other day about those whose heart is in the West though living in Russia. I think his term was traitors or something to that effect.
Now today it appears as if one of those has chosen to leave for the West. It is Anatoly Chubais, who had an instrumental position in dismantling Russia during the 90'ies. I think he was the economic advisor at the time.
From this article from RT, it says that he was against Russia's operation in Ukraine. It appears as if the time has finally come for him to be cut lose. I think many will say, good riddance.
Anatoly Chubais has resigned from his position as the special presidential aide for sustainable development and left Russia. The move by Russia’s economist and long-time official was confirmed by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday. According to a Bloomberg report citing two sources familiar with the situation, the decision was made due to his opposition to Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

Wikipedia has this about him (and it was already updated that he has resigned)
Anatoly Borisovich Chubais (Russian: Анато́лий Бори́сович Чуба́йс; born 16 June 1955) is a Russian business oligarch who was responsible for privatization in Russia as an influential member of Boris Yeltsin's administration in the early 1990s.[1] During this period, he was a key figure in introducing a market economy and the principles of private ownership to Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union.

From 1998 to 2008, he headed the state-owned electrical power monopoly RAO UES. A 2004 survey conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Financial Times named him the world's 54th most respected business leader.[2] He was the head of the Russian Nanotechnology Corporation (RUSNANO) in 2008–2020.[3][4] He was a member of the Advisory Council for JPMorgan Chase from September 2008 until 2013.[5][6] Since December 2020 he worked as a Special Envoy of the President of Russian Federation for Relations with International Organizations.[7] On 23 March 2022, he stepped down from this position and left Russia.[8]
