Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

I don't think RU forces ever intended to take Kyiv. Unless the Ukrainian authorities do not give in to their demands.

It should be clear by now that the partial encirclement of Kyiv was merely a tactical deception to keep the bulk of Ukrainian forces near the capital at bay so that RU forces can operate more freely in the north. Russia will try to avoid urban warfare and instead lure the enemy into open terrain, where they can be more easily dealt with and without risking civilian casualties.

The Russian Defense Ministry and Southfront estimate 30,000 Ukrainian military casualties so far (2 weeks ago). This week phase 2 begins in which the Russians are expected to be much more intense.

Meanwhile in Poland Mr Janusz Korwin-Mikke still not disappoints:

"Have you noticed that the houses are almost intact (surely not ...)? And have you thought why people are buried in mass graves - and not buried by their relatives (36,000 lived in Bucza)? Look and THINK! It doesn't hurt "- he said.

Fact checking: FAKE

Observation: His movement has small support. He is demonized and marginalize for his views (for many years). Most of his statements is generally treated with no understanding and hysteria.

Conclusion: He is lying. There is strong connection between pain and thinking.

:-P

Scott Ritter, former United Nations weapons inspector, former marine corps intelligence officer, author and analyst explains what is happening on the Ukrainian battlefield and the tactics applied by the Russians. I think he is qualified as one of the best analysts and strategists with the right background.

But Russia may have unintentially placed a target on the people who may have been sympathetic to them when they took over places around Kiev. Once they left people started to show their dark side by pointing out who did what resulting in killings by the Ukrainian forces OR OTHERS hired to make it look like mass killings. The EU border is not far away.

They were offered the opportunity according to Tsarev.

Interesting article that connects history with the present situation:

Off-topic, but he actually missed to emphasize the most important point: Hitler actually perceived the Balkans as a “junkyard of small states”
Because this is exactly how the 'collective west' perceives us to this day - both Serbia and Croatia (along with others) - as a junkyard populated with Untermenschen; and is doing it's best to constantly heet up the tensions and make us go against each other to divide and conquer - God forbid we actually learn how to put the past behind and coexist in peace and cooperation.
And constant reminders of this or that ustasa or cetnik atrocity (there's a huge amount of gruesome material from both sides, going back pre-WW2), or of Greater Serbia / Greater Croatia aspirations etc., serve the purpose quite well.

BATTLE OF MARIUPOL ENTERED ITS FINAL PHASE

Battle Of Mariupol Entered Its Final Phase
Mariupol
Monday, April 4, started with the continuation of intense clashes in the city of Mariupol, located on the bank of the Azov Sea in the east of Ukraine.
In the previous days, units of the DPR and the Russian Armed Forces carried out a series of tactical advances around the industrial and port area of the city and reached the vicinity of the Azovstal Plant – the main stronghold of the infamous Ukrainian armed faction ‘Azov Battalion’ and allied units of Kyiv’s forces. Despite this, sporadic clashes erupt time to time in the center of the city where separate mobile groups of Kyiv’s forces try to slow down the advance of DPR and Russian troops.

As of April 4, the resistance of these groups were mostly suppressed and only two resistance points of Kyiv’s forces remained in the city. These are the port and industrial areas. The city center is mostly in the hands of DPR and Russian troops.
“In Mariupol, the city is being cleaned up. Almost already control the central part. This is one of the areas that resisted us. There remains the industrial zone and the port,” a spokesman for the DPR Armed Forces, Eduard Basurin, said in a statement.
The city of Mariupol was encircled in early March. By the end of the month, the DPR claimed control of more than a half of the city and entered the central part of it. However, as of April 4, the operation to take full control of it is still ongoing. The main factor slowing down the advance is the posture of Kyiv’s forces encircled there. Members of Ukrainian units intentionally use civilians as human shield and block the evacuation of residents from the combat area via opened humanitarian corridors.

Therefore, DPR and Russian units are forced to operate in the conditions when they are not able to use most of their full fire power because this will lead to civilian casualties.

The rescue and evacuation of civilians from areas under control of radical units loyal to the Kyiv government became an integral part of the operation. Humanitarian corridors opened by the Russians are constantly working and allow rescued people to leave the city. On top of this, on April 4, an additional corridor towards Berdyansk for the evacuation of ‘foreign citizens’ that trapped in Mariupol.
“In accordance with the request of the President of the Republic of Turkey to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, a decision was made to provide full assistance in the evacuation of citizens of foreign states held hostage by the remaining militants of nationalist battalions in certain areas of Mariupol,” the head of the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mizintsev said.

Meanwhile, Russian-led forces continue their offensive operations in other parts of the Donbass.
In particular, DPR troops captured the fortified area and liberated the settlement of Novobakhmutovka. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, during the fighting, up to a company of Ukraine’s 25th Airborne Brigade was destroyed. At the same time, LPR troops advanced to a depth of 2 kilometers and blocked the settlement of Novotoshkivske from the east and south.
The Russian Armed Forces also continued strikes on the military infrastructure of Ukraine. On the night of April 4, the command post of the 24th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and nearby warehouses with ammunition, weapons and military equipment were destroyed in a strike in the area of the city of Lysichansk.
The Russian side added that as a result of the April 3 strike on the Balovnoye airfield, in the suburbs of Nikolaev, three helicopters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were eliminated.
During the past night, operational-tactical aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces hit 14 military facilities of Ukraine. The targets included two command posts, two launchers of Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems in the Krasnogorsk and Verkhnetoretskoye regions, an artillery battery, two depots of rocket, artillery weapons and ammunition, and three fuel depots, as well as 6 strongholds and areas of concentration of military equipment.
Also, Russian air defense forces shot down six unmanned aerial vehicles in the air in the areas of the settlements of Nikolaev, Kherson, Kurakhovka, Industrialnoye, Velyka Novoselka.
According to the Russian side, since the beginning of the special operation, Russian forces have destroyed 125 aircraft, 91 helicopters, 392 unmanned aerial vehicles, 226 anti-aircraft missile systems, 1936 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 211 multiple rocket launchers, 833 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 1810 units of special military vehicles.

Another piece here from Scott Ritter on RT, describing the slow reveal of the Bucha 'war crime' and his thoughts on the reason behind it. His suggestion being that the evidence on the ground would not support the narrative being spread through the western media, so the story of a Russian perpetrated massacre needs to keep doing the rounds and fermenting in the public mind for a while.

The UK won't be able to stop this event being discussed at a high level, but their blocking of an emergency UN meeting called for by Russia does suggest they are trying to buy some time. As we have seen so many times in previous conflicts, even if the evidence doesn't stack up or it outright contradicts the narrative, the media will likely not report it or retract their previous stories. They may also be buying more time for planting evidence ready for investigators when they, eventually, bother to 'investigate'.

The truth about Bucha is out there, but perhaps too inconvenient to be discovered

It should be easy to find out what really happened to the massacred civilians in the Ukrainian town

In war, truth is the first casualty.”
This quote has been attributed to Aeschylus, a 6th BCE Greek tragedian noted for his “copious use of imagery, mythic allusion, grand language, wordplay and riddles.” It is only fitting, therefore, that the man who first gave word to the concept of modern-day war-time propaganda would see his quote come to life in the present-day Ukraine. The Kiev government and their Western information warfare advisers may have coopted all of Aeschylus’ playwright devices to craft a modern-day tragedy in the Ukrainian town of Bucha that exemplifies the notion of the lie as not just a byproduct, but also a weapon of war.

The main source of the Bucha tragedy reports is a videotape, taken by the Ukrainian National Police, of one of their convoys driving through a street in the town. A dozen or so corpses litter the roadway, many of them appearing to have been bound. This video has gone viral, producing a pandemic of anguish and anger that has swept over much of the world, capturing the attention of heads of state and the head of the Catholic Church alike, resulting in a tidal wave of condemnation and outrage directed at Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin. The cause-and-effect relationship between the video and the global backlash is clear – the former could not exist without the latter.

One of the first lessons of objectivity is to slow things down to make sure that fact is not obscured by emotion. The Bucha videotape is disturbing. The video has been released in its present form, it appears, with the express intent of producing a visceral “shock and awe” moment for the viewer. If this was indeed the case, then those who released it – the Ukrainian National Police – have succeeded beyond their wildest imagination. Or that of their advisors, as the case may be.

The linkage between the dead and the Russian military was established immediately, without any fact-based data to back it up, and subsequently echoed in all forms of media – mainstream and social alike. Anyone who dared question the established “Russia did it” narrative was shouted down and belittled as a “Russian shill,” or worse.

That these conclusions are the byproduct of mass hysteria is beside the point – why seek to be objective when the narrative fits every stereotype that had been carefully assembled beforehand by the same people parroting the Bucha story today. Social “preconditioning” of an audience unused to critical thinking is an essential step in getting this audience to accept at face value anything that is put before it, regardless of how egregiously the facts of the story strain credulity. And let’s be clear – the Ukrainian narrative of the events in Bucha seems to stretch credibility.

The chronology of the narrative produces the first red flag that the story being peddled by Ukraine, and echoed in the West, is not what it seems. It is established fact that Russian troops evacuated Bucha on March 30. Ukrainian National Police began entering Bucha on March 31, and that same day the mayor of Bucha announced that the town was fully under the control of Ukrainian officials. At no time was there any suggestion by the mayor or any other Ukrainian official of mass killings undertaken by Russia. The videotape in question was released by Ukrainian authorities on April 2; it is not certain if the video had been taken earlier, or on that day. What is certain is that the images shown in the video differed sharply from the narrative initially portrayed by the mayor.

For its part, Russia has vehemently denied the allegations, and has requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss what the Russian Foreign Ministry has called the “criminal provocations by Ukrainian soldiers and radicals” in Bucha. The presidency of the Security Council is held by Great Britain, and the British mission to the UN has denied the Russian request, stating that a discussion on Ukraine currently scheduled for Tuesday, April 4 would serve as a forum for any discussion about Bucha.

One would think that the Security Council, which has shown a readiness in the past to meet on short notice to discuss the events coming out of Ukraine, would seek to accommodate Russia’s request on a matter of such importance. The goal of the British, however, does not appear to be the rapid search for truth and justice, but rather to buy time to allow the political fallout from the alleged massacre in Bucha to develop further.

One example of this tactic manifesting itself is the reaction of US President Joe Biden. “You saw what happened in Bucha,” he explained in comments to reporters, adding that Russian President Vladimir Putin “is a war criminal.” Biden took advantage of the Bucha crisis to advocate for the delivery of more weaponry to Ukraine. “We have to continue to provide Ukraine with the weapons they need to continue the fight,” he said. “And we have to gather all the detail so this can be an actual – have a war crimes trial.”

All this from the president of a country which has refused to recognise the International Criminal Court. For reasons which should be obvious to anyone willing to apply some critical thought.

Fortunately for President Biden and the Ukrainian government, the British chief prosecutor of the court, Karim Khan, announced in early March 2022 that he had launched an investigation into alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Ukraine. Given the high profile of the Bucha allegations, one would imagine that Khan has dispatched a forensics team to take control of the crime scene and oversee autopsies on the victims to establish the time of death, mechanism of death, and whether the victims had died where they were allegedly found, or if their bodies had been moved there from another location.

Khan would also be empowered to conduct interviews with the Ukrainian National Police, who have a history of close relations with members of the Ukrainian far right, including the infamous Azov Battalion. Of particular interest would be any investigation into orders given to the police regarding the treatment of those Ukrainian civilians deemed to have collaborated with the Russian military during its occupation of Bucha.

The results of such an investigation would more than likely conflict with the narrative being pursued by the Ukrainian government and echoed in the West by compliant media outlets and politicians alike. This is the prime reason why Khan is not currently on the ground in Bucha. One can assume that if and when Khan is eventually given access to evidence about the Bucha killings, it will have been manipulated by the Ukrainian National Police to such an extent that disproving the allegations will be virtually impossible.

The truth about what happened in Bucha is out there, waiting to be discovered. Unfortunately, that truth appears to be inconvenient for those in a position to pursue it aggressively through a forensics-based, on-site investigation. If it so happens that it eventually emerges that the Ukrainian National Police murdered Ukrainian civilians for the crime of allegedly collaborating with the Russians during their brief occupation of Bucha, and the forces of international law are brought to bear against the true perpetrators of that crime, any true pursuit of justice would have to include both the US and UK governments as witting co-conspirators in any crime charged.
Also on RT (for those who can access it) is a convenient timeline of events in Bucha

I wouldn't say "RESISTANCE STOPS", but the process is underway

RESISTANCE STOPS: IN MARIUPOL, THE REMNANTS OF A BATTALION OF MARINES OF THE ARMED FORCES OF UKRAINE WERE CAPTURED
Representatives of the DPR said that the surviving marines of the Ukrainian forces were captured in Mariupol.

It was reported that on the night of April 4 in Mariupol, marines of the 501st separate battalion of the Ukrainian Navy Marines surrendered to the special operation units of Russia.

It is reported that about 200 people surrendered, the entire personnel of the battalion from the survivors.

This was reported in the author's telegram channel by the Deputy Minister of Information of the Donetsk People's Republic Daniil Bezsonov.

- Bezsonov's message says.

In Mariupol, which was the base of one of the Bandera battalions, the cleansing of the remaining pockets of resistance continues. According to the official representative of the People's Militia of the DPR Eduard Basurin, almost the entire central part of the city came under the control of the army of the People's Republic and units from Russia. Fighting continues for the port of Mariupol and the industrial zone.

The Ukrainian authorities have admitted several times that they do not have the strength to unblock Mariupol and withdraw the remnants of terrorist battalions from the encirclement.

Nazi flags, drugs, alcohol: an Icelandic journalist described the AFU base in Volnovakha
Haukur Hauksson came to the conclusion that the Western media spread false information about the events in the Donbass and Ukraine.

A journalist from Iceland, Haukur Hauksson, visited the base of the Ukrainian Nazis in the liberated Volnovakha and was shocked by what he saw.

According to him, there were Nazi flags, Nazi literature and "swastikas all around", as well as remnants of drugs and alcohol stocks in the places where Ukrainian soldiers were staying.

"They treated the local population very badly — they seized houses, drove people out. We were in one of these houses. The owner was killed there only because he resisted when his whole family was expelled," he said.

The Icelander stressed that the Western media spread false information about the Russian troops in Ukraine and the situation in Donbass.
