Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

Moscow outlines ‘diabolical’ plan by Washington

The EU is being prodded into selling itself into slavery on behalf of Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman says
Ukraine’s newly published proposal for Western security guarantees is an invitation for the economic self-immolation of the EU, according to Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The Russian diplomat believes that the proposed international agreement which Kiev released on Tuesday is an economic trap for EU nations set by the US with Ukraine’s assistance.

Most of the measures included in the document “are already being implemented” by Kiev’s backers, but Washington’s EU allies are expected to pledge to keep the Ukraine aid money flowing for the foreseeable future, Zakharova said in an interview on Wednesday. If signed, the ‘Kiev Security Compact’ would mean “harsh slavery” for the bloc from which it would not recover anytime soon, she claimed.

“A total commitment to supporting the Kiev regime would simply mean immolation [for the EU]. And this proposal is addressed to nations that are debating how they can live through the winter,” Zakharova said, in reference to the energy shortages that EU member states are struggling to confront.

Developed EU nations face an economic and humanitarian disaster after taking directions from the US on how to respond to the crisis in Ukraine, according to the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.

The situation is ironic, she believes, as the EU began as a group of nations that banded together for mutual economic benefit through the deregulation of trade. Now “they are being corralled together” so their lives will become “colder, poorer, and harder,” she said.

The Ukrainian security proposal was prepared by a group co-chaired by Andrey Yermak, the chief of staff of President Vladimir Zelensky, and former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

The 10-page document outlines NATO-like security guarantees for Ukraine by the US and its allies that would benefit Kiev until it formally joins the Washington-led military bloc. It also calls for continued military and financial aid for Ukraine by the guarantors.

Medvedev issues apocalyptic warning to West over Ukraine

The former Russian president used a Book of Revelation quote to comment on “Kiev Security Treaty” demands

Western “half-wits” from “stupid think tanks” are leading their countries down the road of nuclear armageddon with their hybrid war against Moscow, former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday. Endlessly funneling weapons and support to Ukraine while pretending not to be directly involved in the conflict will not work, added the deputy chair of the Russian Security Council.

The “security guarantees” proposal unveiled by Kiev on Tuesday was “really a prologue to the Third World War,” said Medvedev, calling it a “hysterical appeal” to Western countries engaged in a proxy war against Russia.

If the West continues its “unrestrained pumping of the Kiev regime with the most dangerous types of weapons,” Russia’s military campaign will move to the next level, where “visible boundaries and potential predictability of actions by the parties to the conflict” will be erased and the conflict will take on a life of its own, as wars always do, Medvedev argued.

“And then the Western nations will not be able to sit in their clean homes, laughing at how they carefully weaken Russia by proxy. Everything will be on fire around them. Their people will harvest their grief in full. The land will be on fire and the concrete will melt,” Medvedev wrote, before citing a Bible verse from Revelations 9:18.

" A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths."

“Yet still the narrow-minded politicians and their stupid think tanks, thoughtfully twirling a glass of wine in their hands, talk about how they can deal with us without entering into a direct war. Dull idiots with a classical education,” Medvedev wrote.

His comments were prompted by Kiev’s publication of a “security treaty” proposal, developed under the tutelage of former NATO secretary-general Anders Fogh Rasmussen. The draft envisions the US and its allies guaranteeing Ukraine’s pre-2014 borders with weapons, ammunition, financial assistance and training, as well as committing to maintain sanctions against Russia for as long as Kiev wants, and handing over any confiscated Russian property to Ukraine.

Clear message to Zelensky. I guess, although I don't see the guy as that important. He is just a clown following orders. Not sure what to make of it right now.

Added:

It's of strategic value.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces confirm the strike on Krivoy Rog by X-101 missiles launched by Tu-95 bombers.

Photos and videos of the destruction and damages of the dam, the bridge and flooding of the city of Krivoy Rog:

IMG_20220914_215816_384.jpg IMG_20220914_215703_945.jpg IMG_20220914_220349_069.jpg

Videos in Telegram (I can't add here, it's impossible):

(By the way, Russian telegram channels are already laughing off the flooding of the city and behaving just as cynically as Ukrainian telegram channels do when it comes to Donetsk or other "wrong cities".)

The Karachun dam is 205 meters long and belongs to capital grade 1. Every spring it is strengthened by repair work, but despite this, the dam is bloated and frayed by time along almost its entire length.

Scientists claim that if the dam breaks, nearly 300 million tons of water will pour into the city, flooding 70 square kilometers. The Central City District could be flooded above the third floor (11-12 meters above the surface).

So, now the question: Is this just Propaganda from the Russians (aka. thereby suggesting that they don't do that) or do they actually still don't target energy structures? Given their track record and very open accounts of what they are doing in Ukraine, I would tend to believe them.
I don't think that it was the Ukrainians which cut off the power on the 11th. The Russian ministry of defense which you quoted all talked about Ukrainian attacks on power stations and transformers in the Donetsk Peoples Republic and also on the NPP in Zaporozhye region. So I am pretty sure Russia did those other attacks in Kharchov and elsewhere. And yes, the ordinary citizens suffer as always in war, but asking Ukraine patiently for the last 8 years has not brought results or stopped the violence on civilians. The repressive measures only kept increasing until Russia finally started the SMO.

Now Russia has bombed a major dam in Zelensky's hometown, Kriwoi Rog, which is causing an entrapment of a large Ukrainian military force downstream as the river levels has increased 2.5 mtrs and destroyed the pontoon bridges which the Ukrainian army had constructed to get across. Now they are stuck in open land with a raging river to cross in order to get to safety. Another consequence, is the flooding of the town of Kriwoi Rog, which has 600000 citizens.

This approach will cause major military problems for Ukraine (apart from the civilians) and appears to show an escalation of the conflict. The West will cry loudly about this but they have said nothing about the constant shelling of a nuclear power station and critical infrastructure in the DPR so their protests bear little weight.

Edit: I just saw that @Lumiere_du_Code also mentioned this while I was writing.

Every two weeks Medvedev appears on social media and issues another "apocalyptic" warning and threatens the whole world with Armageddon. No one takes him seriously. For half a year now during a military operation Russia has been issuing a "last Chinese warning" (a Russian saying when you swear endlessly to retaliation but never carry it out) about hitting decision-making centers (masterminds), about crossing "red lines", about "you will all be very sorry for what you did and you will be very hurt" and many such childish scares, but in the end it is always just shaking the air. The Baltic countries have an extremely Russophobic policy, persecuting Russian-speaking people, imprisoning them, destroying monuments to Soviet soldiers who died for liberating these countries from German Nazism (so that Nazism is now resurrected in Europe) and much more. They have staged a blockade of Kaliningrad. How did Russia respond to this? It increased the limit of gas supply to the Baltics. Even the Russian people laugh at that.

Medvedev and Zakharova are only blowing a whistle. Russia needs to strike, not "warn" hundreds of times about strikes. They say: "we will not tolerate Ukrainian strikes on Russian territories and provocations with our facilities". Ukraine: "okay, hold my beer: we strike". Belgorod, Kursk, Crimea, the gas platform in the Black Sea, etc. Ukraine threatens the Crimean bridge. How did Russia respond to this when it talked about "hitting Ukrainian decision-making centers"? Nothing. Ukraine continues to increase its window of opportunity by staging more and more provocations. They are not afraid. They feel completely safe. Zelensky calmly comes to Izyum, which is not far from the front line, where Russian forces were only a week ago. They're just sure that nothing will come back to them. And they don't care about all these empty threats. Because they're not backed up by real action. If you say so, then DO IT. Don't keep repeating endlessly that "we will".

For those interested, the new documentary from Anne-Laure Bonnel released on September 8th: "Donbass, 8 years later":
(in French, not sure if subtitles are available in English)
- follow up from a previous documentary: Donbass - 2016:

As a side note, the following video could be also interesting:
(in French).

If anyone find the English versions, I am checking on my side as well once I have seen the full documentary.

"hitting Ukrainian decision-making centers"?

The current leadership put in place follows orders and if I may, are not that impressive, if they really want Russia to bleed, they should turn Ukrainian major cities into fortresses and let them fight for every inch which is more costly than fighting in open terrain. I think the Russians positioned themselves well and the enemy just keeps hitting them with one counter attack after another. At some point, Ukie forces will run out of manpower and that's exactly what the Russians are waiting for before they start a big offensive to take the whole country.

So my point is, keep making threats but let the current leadership remain in power. Otherwise someone more smart might take over.

OSIT.

And they don't care about all these empty threats. Because they're not backed up by real action. If you say so, then DO IT. Don't keep repeating endlessly that "we will".
I understand your frustration and yet I think that Russia has obtained a lot though it is perhaps not seen on the battle field. In those 6 months, the opinion of the rest of the world has turned more and more towards Russia and many countries have seen how Russia has not been overreacting or been brutal or savage as the West usually likes to portray Russia as. That carries a lot of weigh in the times to come also for the millions of civilians who are suffering in Ukraine and in other conflict zones around the world, like Syria or Yemen. Russia has now many allies. The fact that Russia has used those 6 months to show restraint while building powerful alliances will prove very useful, the same way that networking in a group like we do here is very powerful.

Russia lets the West do the escalation first and then slowly turns up the heat when it is clear that there is no other way around it. Like I said before, increasing the escalation also carries more cost on the civilian population, like the flooding in Krivoy Rog or the black outs and the resulting lack of water. There will always be some on social media who enjoy the suffering of civilians but that doesn't mean that the majority does. So though war is just a continuation of politics, it is a tragedy.

What really strikes me here about Medvedev‘s statements are several points, which leave me wondering what the heck is going on:

- Medvedev is officially part of Russia‘s security council, which meets regularly, and of course, Putin heads it. And as we all know he was president of Russia for one term.

- Medvedev seems to be the only very high ranking official/politician in russias government who has an official Telegram (aka. social media) account, which he uses to „openly“ „tell what is going on“ and „spill the beans“ to the public

- Medvedev‘s statements via that outlet appear to be „very radical“ and kind of „spilling the beans“ ever since the military operation started

- Medvedev statements appear to get more „radical“ and „scary“ by the day. I mean, just read the above! Holy moly!

- Are we to assume that what Medvedev says is not sanctioned, approved and/or looked at by Putin? I mean, we know that Putin and co are quite strict on not allowing any high ranking member of the government to misbehave and usually are quick to fire or keep them in line or reassign them to other posts.

- Are we to assume that is also what Putin and co. think and preparing for? Or what is going on? A power play of some sorts within the russian government? Or a ruse to get the PTB worked up, or afraid?

- It appears that what Medvedev says is quite the opposite of the usual moderate official stands and rhetoric of Putin and co., that they have so far very consistently showed/presented to the public

- On the other hand, we are confronted with the idea (correct me if I‘m wrong here) that Medvedev was always some type of mole (or bad force) that can’t be trusted

- (Correct me if I’m wrong) Medvedev was always considered to be more on the liberal and moderate side? If so, how come that he „changed“ so much now?

Yes, that's what I thought also.

Medvedev turned Ultra Patriot when the war kicked of or he was already like this. Whatever happened. His behavior out in the open made a drastic turn.

Maybe following the saying 'cooler heads prevail.' will do him some good.

I just remind that according to Cs in that session where they called the percentage of psychopaths in several countries there are as many as 17% of psychopaths in Russia, which although certainly lower than 25% in the USA and even less than 42% in Israel, is still higher than the 6% world average (although the number of psychopaths in power is definitely no less important, not just the total concentration among the population). And it is from 20 to 30 million inhabitants of RF so there is nothing surprising that there are many bloodthirsty Russians which really is not difficult to find in comments to any tg channel, it is just necessary to reject that naive concept that any large enough group of people (especially nation) can be univocal so it happens only in propaganda but not in reality

What really strikes me here about Medvedev‘s statements are several points, which leave me wondering what the heck is going on:
What I read from his comments is that he, Putin and Russia to a great extent have eyes wide open to what could happen in the future. Putin said years ago that a world without Russia is unthinkable. They were forced on a course, set by others, to defend not only themselves but whatever of humanity wants to follow them. Putin and by extension all those who support him are prepared to take this to it's ultimate conclusion. They will die (Russia) rather than be taken prisoner. To me this is a repeat of the Trojan War. Russia will finish this war one way or the other. What the result will be God only knows but I really believe it will be Russia who decides the outcome.
I may be totally wrong but Russia's constancy seems to speak to this and they are mentally and spiritually prepared.

Is it ok to laugh now?

Poland passes reparations bill

"The request of $1.3 trillion from Germany"

"The lower house of Poland’s parliament voted on Wednesday to demand $1.3 trillion in reparations from Germany for damages incurred during the Nazi occupation. The demand is a controversial one, with researchers saying that some of the atrocities referenced by Warsaw were actually committed by Poles." (Emphasis mine)
