Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

Larry Johnson with a very interesting piece on Prigozhin as primarily an information warrior.

WHAT ARE WE TO MAKE OF PRIGOZHIN AND THE WAGNER GROUP?

image-21-1024x576.png

I am fascinated by the misinformation and deception being spread via social media channels about famed-Russian Chef, Evgeny Prigozhin, and his mythical military prowess. The latest example of this comes courtesy of Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post:

Wagner chief offered to give Russian troop locations to Ukraine, leak says

"THE DISCORD LEAKS | Yevgeniy Prigozhin said he would tell Ukraine’s military where to attack Russian troops if they pulled their own forces back from the beleaguered city of Bakhmut, where Wagner mercenaries were taking heavy losses."

If there was ever any doubt that the so-called “Discord Leaks”, allegedly the handiwork of a lowly U.S. Air Force grunt, are a controlled leak that is part of an information operation, this latest wowzer should erase any skepticism.

Follow the logic here. There supposedly is a piece of Top Secret signals intelligence “proving” that Prigozhin offered to betray Russia in order to protect his own troops two months ago (remember, the “leaked” material “discovered” on 6 April by an outfit tied to British intelligence, reported on classified information disseminated around the first of March). How does Prigozhin, who has zero military experience and is not part of the Russian chain of command, have access to the order of battle of Russian forces? Not likely.

Wagner Group is not a creation of Evgeny Prigozhin. Forget about the popular Western meme that Wagner is a Russian version of the Dirty Dozen — convicts and criminals given a chance to redeem themselves by putting on a Russian uniform and risking their lives. That is an image that Russian intelligence has pushed and the gullible folks in the West have gobbled it up.

I give credence to Alexander Mercouris’ reporting on the history of Wagner — i.e., it was formed under the direction of Russia’s military intelligence outfit, the GRU, and the Russian version of the FBI, i.e., the FSB. In other words, Wagner is more akin to the CIA’s Special Activities Division (i.e., SAD), which is the military arm of the CIA, and the French Foreign Legion. Wagner, in my opinion, is not under the operational control of Prigozhin. Not only is he a master of the culinary arts but he is a damn, fine actor. Prigozhin presents the world with the image of a man teetering on the edge of madness and megolamania and the intelligence agencies in the U.S. and other NATO countries lap it up.

Wagner is a light infantry outfit and specializes in providing training to foreign soldiers and combatants. Just like the CIA’s SAD, Wagner is led by former active duty Russian military officers and non-commissioned officers. My friend, Andrei Martyanov, correctly notes that while Wagner specializes in urban combat, it is not organized nor equipped to operated as a combined arms unit. However, besides its capabilities in urban warfare, Wagner also serves a purpose in Russia’s information war against the West.

It also is important to understand that Prigozhin also takes the credit for creating the Internet Research Agency aka IRA, which the media describes as, “a notorious troll farm that the US government has sanctioned for interfering in American elections.”

Prigozhin is only too happy to take credit for the IRA. He provided the following press release in February:

“I react with pleasure,” Prigozhin said in the statement. “I’ve never just been the financier of the Internet Research Agency. I invented it, I created it, I managed it for a long time. It was founded to protect the Russian information space from boorish aggressive propaganda of anti-Russian narrative from the West.”

What next? Did Prigozhin secretly create and fund ROSATOM or the Russian Space Agency? Kinda tough to whip up a tasty omelet when you are busy setting up a military mercenary outfit and an internet intelligence information op. Prigozhin is the new Beria without all of the deviant sexual behavior, or so we are led to believe. Or maybe he is Russia’s version of General Patton.

Most Americans have bought into the myth of General Patton as the General the Nazis and Wehrmacht feared most:

From the movie Patton and from the biography on which it is partly based, Ladislas Farago’s Patton: Ordeal and Triumph, one is left with the impression that the German High Command spent most of its waking hours fretting about Patton and his whereabouts. According to Farago, after his campaign in Sicily, Patton was the Allied general the Germans regarded as “their most dangerous adversary in the field,” which led them to watch his comings and goings “like rubbernecked spectators following a tennis ball at Wimbledon.” The problem is, notes Yeide, that “there does not appear to be an iota of fact behind this claim.”

The same cannot be said of Prigozhin. He is an object of obsession in the Western media and among many of the political leaders. Prigozhin’s recent highly publicized outbursts, including expletive laden diatribes hurled at Russian military leaders, have raised hopes in NATO military and intelligence circles that maybe, just maybe, Putin’s inner circle is starting to crumble and that Russia really is nothing more than a gas-station with nukes.

I do not believe in coincidence. The fact that Prigozhin is linked so publicly with a military organization and an internet information operation that are all under the control of Russia intelligence, leads me to believe that he is an important actor in the Russian campaign to deceive and confuse the West about its true military plans and objectives. Last week, Prigozhin did his best to convince the NATO countries that Wagner was on the ropes and faced with a real risk of being overrun by newly energized and supplied Ukrainian troops. That was then.

Today, according to Prigozhin?

". . .the units of the Wagner PMCs have advanced up to 130 m in and around the so-called “Nest”.
The PMC assault groups occupied 91,000 meters.
1.69 square kilometers of Bakhmut remain under enemy control.
9 high-rise buildings were liberated during the day, 28 high-rise buildings under our control, 20 under enemy control.
The assault groups continue to carry out tasks for the final capture of Bakhmut, and also work on the flanks, where they had to stay to stop attempts to break through.”

Yeah, this is the guy that the Washington Post claims is secretly negotiating with Ukraine to sell out the Russians. Now do you understand why I’m throwing the B.S. flag?

Dmitry Medvedev participated in the international legal forum organized in St. Petersburg.

" If international conventions are not applied and judicial decisions recognized as strange are not enforced, then cannons and rocket cannons will work, and then even hypersonic missiles will fly. ” – Medvedev"

Full speech translation:
If International Conventions Do Not Apply, Hypersonic Missles will Fly

After the Soviet Union left the historical scene, the balance of power in world politics changed radically. And some strong countries, but, what can I say, these are not some countries, let's be frank, these are the United States and NATO countries, began to consider this as their personal victory, as well as the victory of a doctrine that serves their national interests.

By the way, that's when they started talking about the end of history and the final victory of liberal ideology, which marks the end point of humanity's socio-cultural development. Unfortunately, we have to admit that the victorious nations, including our country, made a fatal mistake.

They did not build mechanisms into the architecture of post-war collective security institutions to protect against attempts by one or more states to usurp the entire system for their own interests. Well, this is probably the result of the general euphoria that arose from the final victory over Nazi Germany.

Those who created the United Nations and other international institutions were inspired by the victory achieved. They promoted ideas about the prohibition of the use of force, the dismantling of colonial rule, the observance of inalienable human rights, these are absolutely good ideas.

But these principles began to be regarded as an eternal axiom that does not require justification and protection, and the reality turned out to be much more cynical and cruel. Moreover, it happened gradually.

If we talk about how it all developed, after Churchill's famous Fulton speech, the Cold War was basically declared. The victorious countries then split into two hostile military blocs. Of course, I mean NATO and the Warsaw Pact.

Then there was the Caribbean crisis and numerous other events, local and regional wars. And finally, the collapse of the Soviet Union changed the world map once and for all, it tore apart nations that historically lived together, and it created the illusion of total victory for the United States of America and its NATO satellites across the planet.

This is, at least in my opinion, the sad picture that emerged at the end of the 20th century. It turned out to be the direct opposite of the declarations of the middle of the last century, when the current international institutions were being created. The United States and its allies declared themselves the victors of the Cold War and considered themselves the supreme leaders of all international institutions.

Thus, the essence of the central principles underlying the activities of these organizations was distorted. The primitive distortions and opportunistic interpretation of the norms of international law have continued ever since, and moreover, it is always in the interests of the countries of the so-called collective West.

Gradually, the United States, with the help of its allies, took over the bilateral regional and global structures. In their own selfish interests, they act in the spirit of George Orwell , when all are equal, but as you know, some are more equal than others, namely in economic dominance.

Political and military expansions

The Western world is doing this today under the slogan of strengthening the value of democracy. It created the mythical fig leaf of so-called rule-based order. In fact, it does not exist in a formal sense. At the same time, it persistently opposes the basic principles of international law.

It imposes them instead of the UN Charter and international conventions on all the orphans and the poor, that is, on all of us who are not among the elect. In fact, its purpose is different, it is simply to suppress any attempt to live other than these Anglo-Saxon models.

In this regard, I am reminded of the immortal words of Mahatma Gandhi : what does it matter for the dead, the orphans and the homeless, what arbitrariness and destruction are created in the name of totalitarianism or holy democracy and liberalism. This is a thoroughly modern saying. Double standards are in full swing in this matter.

From the point of view of the Western world, the right of peoples to self-determination, the right to declare themselves independent, the right to join a state with which there is a historical and cultural connection, of course this right exists, from the point of view of the Western world. But this right exists only in special cases that benefit it.

This is an old example: when it comes to joining the United States of Texas and California. As an aside, let's see what else will happen if Texas secedes from the US or Scotland secedes from the UK. But this is a question for the future.

Or about the collapse of their historical enemy – the Soviet Union – and the formation of new countries on its basis. On the dismemberment of Serbia based on a distorted interpretation of the international court's decision on Kosovo. In fact, the modern collapse of international law began with the self-righteous tribunal for Yugoslavia in The Hague. From this episode, faith in supranational justice was seriously shaken and began to wane.

Well, it's a completely different matter when, for example, South Ossetia and Abkhazia declare themselves independent from a known administration. If Crimea is separated from the obnoxious nationalist state. And in another 8 years, Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson region will be separated, these are initially Russian regions whose inhabitants were exhausted by the years of genocide of the Kiev regime.

Their free will and our support for our countrymen is just an excuse for Western countries to impose new sanctions against our country. This is the reason to arm the Ukrainian regime to the teeth, organize an economic collapse, indeed in the whole of Europe and the world, and scream everywhere about Moscow's aggression. Such examples have accumulated enough.

Or, for example, how to understand the absurdity of the Americans that on the one hand they recognize only one China and on the other hand maintain diplomatic and military relations with Taiwan, almost as if with a sovereign state. In this case, Americans say very simply: it's so convenient for them .

This fits their concept of curbing the growing power of the People's Republic of China. And the rest is indifferent to them, as they say, they don't care. In fact, this is arrogance and cynicism built into American foreign policy doctrine.

Today it would be good to remember something else: how many Soviet missiles were enough for the United States to stage a global psychosis during the Cuban Missile Crisis?

This is on the other hand. And on the other hand, how many weapons were brought in a short time to our borders, to the areas that are now under NATO control? The question is, then who is really bringing the world closer to the apocalypse?

Russia as the target of a full-scale hybrid war

"We are conducting a special military operation today to protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity and for the safety of millions of citizens. It is obvious that a full-scale hybrid war has been launched in our country. Our American and European protectors are heavily “drugging” our enemies with all kinds of deadly weapons.

They encourage terror in Russia's border areas. They commit sabotage and political assassinations. In fact, they are leading the situation to World War III, a global catastrophe in which, as you know, there can be no winners.

Cicero once said that the law is not my judge, but the judge is the speaking law. Modern man often sees justice through the prism of justice. However, Western countries strive to turn international law into a controlled instrument of revenge against hostile states and people. This is despite the fact that they are not themselves subject to jurisdiction.

It would be good to remember how the structures of international law reacted to each attack by the United States of America in different parts of the world during the last 70 years. There are almost no such examples. But how are some international legal and quasi-legal bodies behaving now?

When in some, even the most obvious case, they stubbornly take positions against Russia, even if it is against the law, the circumstances of the case and elementary logic. They shape the course of court cases in favor of primitive propaganda. They justify the most heinous crimes of the Kiev regime against their own country or turn a blind eye to them.

If we take, for example, the very little understood International Criminal Court, which we and the Americans do not consider in any way legitimate for our countries and citizens. This is a useless and powerless structure, which, as you know, was created on the basis of the Roman Constitution, in which the major countries did not participate.

If these countries did not recognize it, it means that this body has become marginal in the first place, that is, obviously useless to them. This is a kind of group of legally impotent. The International Criminal Court was able to try only a few minor political figures from small countries, and they naturally stayed at home.

In the end, it signed its own judgment, ignoring US crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq. But the finest moment came in this particular court today. At the insistence of the United States, it is trying to persecute Russia and its top officials.

Of course, there is nothing surprising here, because as you know, he who pays plays the music . But what kind of right can we talk about?

However, if the United States, which is not a party to the Rome Statute, is in fact openly pumping funding, hardware and software resources into the International Criminal Court. And they don't even hide that they do this so that they can consider certain anti-Russian cases that are useful to them.

I remind you that this year the total budget of this special court has increased by 24 million euros. Of course, you can look at it however you want, but in fact it looks like a bribe from the US authorities, given specifically for anti-Russian cases related to the conflict in Ukraine.

It is not surprising that this overly biased court took the risk of launching such a legal attack against Russia. It is, of course, demonstrative, absurd, even pathetic in some ways. But unfortunately it has some consequences. What are they?

The fact that it will once and for all undermine the trust of the world community in the international judiciary. There are many examples of how Western-controlled transnational judicial institutions are steadily heading towards an inglorious end.

There are independent journalistic investigations that have revealed the connections of dozens of judges of the European Court of Human Rights to the Open Society Foundation of the famous American billionaire Soros . For many years, these judges literally ate out of Soros's hand, and at the dictation from across the ocean, they issued biased verdicts that otherwise were never reviewed even after corruption scandals like this one.

Some courage has been tried in the dispute settlement body of the World Trade Organization (WTO). It made several decisions unfavorable to US foreign trade. Then the United States, without unnecessary ceremony, simply blocked the operation of this legal structure, did not allow the appointment of new members to the appellate body, and made a decision in relation to different countries.

And for our country. But we were loyal to it. And the Americans blocked it. This is how international economic law has also become mere fiction. The words proclaim freedom and competition, but in reality no one and nothing prevents strong and rich countries from protecting their interests in any way. Well, other countries have discriminatory bans.

In the same line are the illegal predatory measures targeting the property of the Russian state, Russian companies and Russian individuals, as well as the confiscation of the property of our diplomatic missions and individual citizens. Well, there are other examples.

For example, the explosion of the Nord Stream pipeline is being investigated, Russia is being blamed for it, whose rights have actually been violated to a large extent. This despite the obvious facts that show the involvement of radical groups in this. As if on command, European countries forgot their obligations, which are defined in the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Convention against Terrorist Bombings.

We will, of course, continue to use all available legal tools to bring criminals to justice, but the chances of doing this in the forums of international legal bodies are slim to none.”

Our patience is not endless

Why am I talking about all this? I am confident that it is within our power to change this reality. However, there are almost no universal legal remedies today. Even the postulates, which are excellent in all respects and are written in the Declaration on the Principles of International Law adopted by the UN General Assembly more than 50 years ago, do not work.

Russia has repeatedly confirmed that it is loyal to the spirit and letter of the United Nations Charter and the basic documents derived from it. For us, following them in the interests of all humanity is a basic starting point, and we adhere to it today, despite the fact that we are constantly faced with lies, prejudice, pressure and the unkind actions of the countries of the collective West.

This happened, for example, in connection with the Minsk agreements, the infamous NATO expansion to the east, unfair competition in the name of the climate program and other similar actions. Our patience is not endless. All compromises have limits, beyond which security and sovereignty are threatened.

We all understand perfectly, everyone present in this room, because we are all lawyers, that if legal institutions do not work, they will be replaced by other, effective institutions capable of expressing the will of a particular state, not the will of several states. There is no reason to obey the decisions of outdated or completely unreliable legal structures.

If international conventions are not applied and court decisions recognized as strange are not enforced, then cannons and rocket launchers will work, and then even hypersonic missiles will fly. International law will change in the near future in accordance with the new world order, we are sure of that anyway. The old order has outlived its usefulness. It will be replaced by a multipolar system of interstate relations."

"Do you mean that for you, answering with a rational explanation to wild speculations and chemtrail fans' fantasies indicates ill intentions?"
No, i mean that mentioning chemtrails flat earth and other conspiracies is a modern day epithet by the trust-the-science types.
Anyway, i had a look at historical data of umcs lublin and there was few larger spikes during the year so he may be right with his rain after all.

Shattered Ukrainian Dreams About Military Success Around Bakhmut
SouthFront Video 15.05.2023

Macron, in an attempt to get out, gave out a stroke of genius: "We are not at war with Russia. We are helping Ukraine resist." As they say, a rose smells like a rose, even if you call it a rose, at least not.

Vanessa Beeley had an interesting slot on UKColumn news regarding the Turkish elections. It is a short segment from 19:27 - 31:03:

In Summary:

- Many are claiming that Erdogan will win in first round on 14 May and it will not go any further.

- There is likely to be an 85-90% turnout

- There are claims of interference: Russia, Iran and China/Syria on the side of Erdogan vs. The US & western media on opposition side.

- The opposition leader is accusing Russia of spreading 'fakes' and accuses Russia of being behind sex tapes that caused another opposition leader to pull out.

- The previous CIA attempted coup is brought up along with an interesting quote from Biden in 2020, hinting at the US interfering in the Turkish elections in 2023:

- US is clearly anti-Erdogan while Erdogan is accusing opposition of being pro-western and pro-liberalism. Erdogan has a mutually beneficial relationship with Russia and has built on this in emerging multi-polar world order.

- The Shape of the Turkish state at stake. Essentially more Islam vs more liberalism. 14 May was chosen as it is the anniversary of the Kemalist Republic

- Erdogan lays into the opposition with:

- Westerners in Turkey are worried and know that the opposition is trying to bring in the WEF agenda.

- Current government is very realist, acting in its own interests.

Turkey's elections on May 14th have shown us interesting situations. Despite Erdogan's disastrous economy and the earthquake disaster, the decline in his vote was small. This was a shock for the opposition. The elections will continue with a second round. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was a very controversial figure as the leader of the CHP and the opposition.

The opposition didn't want Kılıçdaroğlu as a candidate, but when his candidacy was finalized, people had to reluctantly support him. The agenda in Turkey right now is how the election will turn out. The people who support the opposition are in a panic because they think that Erdogan has caused great damage to the country with his wrong policies. After 20 years in power, they think he should step down. After the elections, a major financial collapse is expected due to his wrong economic decisions.

Erdoğan seems to have averted this economic crisis with domestic investments. (on his audience). Especially armed drones, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, air defense systems, satellites, warships, electric vehicles, electric car battery factories, and gas and oil wells developed in the defense industry seem to have caused the voters not to give up power against the economic crisis. I think they learned this propaganda technique from the CIA through FETO (Fethullahist Terrorist Organization). All these developments were constantly imposed on the public through the media and social media.

It looks like the infamous Patriot AD system touted as “capable of shooting down anything” didn’t live up to the hype tonight in Kiev. It just got smoked.

It’s been a really dark week (or two) for Ukraine.

Meanwhile. That night, according to the Air Force of Ukraine, 6 "Kinzhal" missiles were shot down in Kyiv.

There is a version that "Patriot" fired all the missiles anywhere, just to avoid a large explosion of ammunition in a residential area after the arrival of Russian missiles. I doubt that the radar was destroyed by the "Kinzhal", rather the X-58 anti-radar missile.

And of course, the worse the situation in Bakhmut, the more "Kinzhal" Ukraine will shoot down.
1684228582931.png

By Bakhmut. PMC Wagner reports that today's night assault on the fortified areas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Artemovsk "Konstruktor" and "Nest" was completed successfully. The enemy withdrew to the fortified area "Domino".

The Armed Forces of Ukraine still have the "Domino" multi-storey building and 2 quarters in the private sector.

While writing, information arrived from the RF Ministry of Defense:
💥 A high-precision strike by a hypersonic missile system "Kinzhal" in the city of Kyiv hit a US-made Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.

That's a good one indeed with no BS as far as I can tell. Not like Macgregor claiming that Ukraine's chernozems are 10-20 feet deep (while the thickest layers, in the north, are up to 5 feet, the rest is thinner) - that one made me go back and listen again two more times to make sure he actually said it; or that Poland has 'increasingly large' army while in fact it's been heavily reduced and only now efforts are undertaken to reverse the trend, not to mention that most of its equipment has left the country forever thanks to the insanely russophobic war party. The problem I have with Macgregor (and similar commentators) is that he talks with the same certainty about matters in which he's an expert and matters he has no good knowledge of. And because of his authority within the alternative infosphere, everything he says gets incorporated into the 'alterative' worldview and understanding of the reality.
At least that's how I see it now, FWIW.

Just like mentioning "trust-the-science types" is a modern day epithet used by chemtrails, flat earth and other conspiracies fans. There is enough room for reason between two extremes.

So you insist that air traffic caused mess in the skies is normal? just asking..

I don't insist, I asked you to clarify. When it comes to chemtrails you seem to be alluding to, I'd suggest you make the forum search engine your friend. SOTT can be helpful too. This is not the right thread for this topic.

i used insist as a matter of speech and meant You clarify not the search engine, but don't worry, it isn't that important.

Yes, and much as I like Macgregor he lost a lot of credibility in my eyes because of his poor track record of predictions, especially regarding the nonexistent Russian Winter Offensive. It's a shame because he didn't need to make such decisive predictions at all. The best commentators are very sparing with predictions of events which are so complex. They restrain themselves from doing so despite the fact that such speculations are very enticing to a lot of viewers. All such things should be given with a caveat or they can be misleading and backfire.

Agreed. I'd add that the ones I appreciate most are those who clearly separate things they know from things that belong to hearsay, opinion, speculation domains. Who say what each side of the conflict reports, compare, and present what is similar across sources as the most likely to be true. In other words, they tolerate well even high levels of unknowns. And do their best to stay away from the game of countering one narrative/propaganda with another one - a game that plays on emotions and appeals to people who like to feel (self-)righteous. That's politics and war, both are complex, dirty and hardly predictable.
