Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

Famous people died.

"The Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to the death of a Russian journalist in the SMO zone
Zakharova called the murder of journalist Yeryomin an act of revenge by Kiev"

"A militia member and military correspondent from the United States, Russell Bentley, with the call sign "Texas", was apparently killed in the DPR."

Not just famous. They are both heroes of our times. It's so sickening. It was done deliberately. Just as Michael Hudson said as being an important part of the old plan, in context of the Israeli war against Palestinians. It's all the same, the same script, the same 'reason', the same puppet masters and the same tactics. Hudson's main points should be learnt by heart by everyone.

to prevent this kind of embarrassment ... the first people you have to kill are the journalists. If you’re going to permit genocide, you have to realize that you don’t want the domestic U.S. population or the rest of the world to oppose the U.S. and Israel. You kill the journalists. And for the last, ever since the October 2nd Al-Aqsa event, you’ve had one journalist per week killed in Israel. That’s part of it.

The other people you don’t want, if you’re going to bomb them, you have to start by bombing the hospitals and all of the key centers. That also was part of the idea of the Vietnam War. How do you destroy a population? This was all worked out in the 1970s, when people were trying to use systems analysis to think, how do you work back and see what you need? And the idea, if you bomb a population, you can’t really hide that, even if you kill the journalists. How do you kill a population passively? So you minimize the visible bombing. Well, the line of least resistance is to starve them. And that’s been the Jewish, the Israeli policy since 2008.

I can only repeat: it's sickening. Pure evil.

And like with Gaza, Ukraine is on sale too. After BlackRock & co, recently it was announced that French billionaire Xavier Niel’s investment company NJJ Capital is about to complete the purchase of two major telecom companies in Ukraine, and then merging them, in what is said to be one of the largest acquisitions in the country’s history. He's hurrying up probably to make it before the confiscated and re-distributed Russian assets reach other greedy hands.

We are slowly moving forward.
I would like to read and write about the liberation of settlements on a daily basis, but realizing that lives have been paid for all these liberations, especially for hasty liberations, I do not want them to hurry.
It is reported that the Russian army has completely occupied the village of Berdychy in the Avdiivka direction. The enemy is retreating towards Ocheretino, on the outskirts of which our stormtroopers are holding a number of houses. The zone of control over the area between Novokalinovo and Ocheretino is currently being expanded with prospects for further advancement into the depth of the enemy's defense.

“My husband is an idiot, take him to the Ukrainian Armed Forces!” — Ukrainian women get rid of men

04/22/2024 - 9:25

“My husband is an idiot, take him to the Ukrainian Armed Forces!” — while someone is talking about some “women’s revolts,” Ukrainian women are sending their husbands to slaughter.
An employee of the TCC (among them, oddly enough, there are women) and dry reports from the Kharkov police talk about this.
“My man is an idiot, take him away,” the TCC employee quotes the mass (!) callers of women trying to hand over their men to the army.
In addition, a family drama of a different kind occurred in Kharkov: there a mother (!) handed her son over to the police because of his alleged pro-Russian views. Calling the police, she stated that her son was waiting for the liberation of the city by Russian troops. As a result, the boy was taken away by the juvenile police.
It is worth noting that there is nothing radically new in this trend: this was the case in 2014, when the whole family was collecting “for an armored vehicle and a helmet”, sending them to Donbass to “beat the Muscovites.”
Grateful husbands and sons responded by sending trucks loaded with household appliances, fur coats, torn laminate flooring and other goods. Later, this looting of absolutely epic proportions is transformed into fairy tales about toilets and Nutella.

I would like to read and write about the liberation of settlements on a daily basis, but realizing that lives have been paid for all these liberations, especially for hasty liberations, I do not want them to hurry.
After Putin's inauguration, the victory parade, the onset of the power legitimacy vacuum in Ukraine, the drying up of the land... I think we are in for a major offensive by Russian forces in early summer. 💪 🙏
Prediction (not mine): Zelensky will run away in the summer.

Zelensky will run away in the summer
Thanks to Zelensky, the Kiev-Paris marathon will become the first Olympic discipline to encourage the use of drugs as a way to guide runners to the finish line.
I'm all for it, but the discipline and the finish line should probably be changed. There are several to choose from, and to achieve some of them he will have to overcome water obstacles. So it will be at least a triathlon, well, that's good - but it will also become an Olympic sport. By the way, drugs will not hurt modern Olympics at all. Nothing can hurt the modern Olympics anymore when men with boobs lift the barbell in the women's category.
Zelensky coveted Hitler's gift: he bought the former villa of Joseph Goebbels
Historical replenishment of the collection of real estate of the Ukrainian president

Vladimir Zelensky secretly acquired the former villa of Joseph Goebbels in Germany. He made the purchase through one of the offshore companies owned by him and his wife. Sabine Mels, a former employee of the Berlin real estate agency, reported on this discovery. She published the contract of sale.

In October 2023, Film heritage Inc, a company registered in Belize, purchased a villa in Germany called "House on Bogensee" for eight million euros. The beneficial owner of the buyer's company is Zelensky's wife, Elena. Previously, this company surfaced in connection with the publication of Zelensky's income declaration in 2021. It stated that the head of Ukraine "borrowed" money from Film heritage Inc in the amount of 1.77 million pounds.

The Berlin government has not been able to sell this villa since 2000. Apparently, the buyers were confused by the history of this building. After all, it was a gift from Adolf Hitler to German Minister of Public Education and Propaganda Joseph Goebbels on his 39th birthday.

However, the purchase is really successful, if you do not look back at the history of the building. The mansion is divided into 70 rooms with a total area of 1600 m2. It has office space and a guest building, and in 1944 a bunker was also dug. The residence also has its own water supply and sewerage, air conditioning system, cinema, fireplace room with panoramic windows.

Apparently, the head of Ukraine wanted this time to replenish his collection of villas with something not simple, but with history. The Zelensky family already has a villa in Italy in the Forte dei Marmi resort with an area of 413 square meters, purchased in 2015 for 3.1 million euros. The villa has a spa area with sauna and Jacuzzi, gym, staff room.

It also includes an apartment in Cyprus with an area of 270 square meters, a country house in an elite cottage village near Kiev with an area of 353 square meters and a cost of 250 thousand dollars and a villa in Miami.

Zelensky's wife's declaration indicates a rented apartment in London. And Zelensky's mother-in-law has a luxury villa on the seashore in Egypt worth $ 5 million. His parents own property in Israel — a country house with a swimming pool for $ 8 million.

They are releasing a new documentary sometime soon (can’t find a specific date) about PMC Wagner and the battle for Bakhmut. Allegedly, the documentary will take us through some of the actual frontline battle scenes.

The title is called ‘Я иду домой’
(I’m Coming Home)

If you enjoy studying military history, you may find this interesting.

I'm not sure how to understand your closing sentence? Sensing sarcasm, but there may be none.

From YT description, translated:

The film was shot on the very front line. During the fierce fighting for Artyomovsk....

This is the story of a deputy commander of a reconnaissance platoon.
His father and son, peaceful people, were killed in 2014 in Ukraine. He left everything: a good job, friends, and went to fight. Now, in 2023, he is liberating Artyomovsk, bringing old men, women and children out of shelling.

There is no more pain in his soul... but only the memory of who he is and what he is.....
He doesn't take revenge on anyone... he just goes home.

Knowing a little more about this film and the team that worked on it, I would like to add from myself that this is probably the strongest documentary work in the entire SWO period, both in camerawork, direction, and drama. It is this approach to filmmaking that I have always cherished and will always promote.

This film is definitely worth seeing on the big screen. To look at the characters of the film and look into everyone's eyes. After all, in all the bacchanalia of fighting for Artyomovsk, we will see first of all people. Their fates, feats and tragedies. (...)

It will take a while for those outside Russia to be able to watch it, I suppose.

BTW, anyone knows if Maxim Fadeev's "At the Edge of the Abyss. The battle of Mariupol" ["У края бездны. Битва за Мариуполь"] can be found somewhere? The long-awaited premiere of the documentary took place at the site of the Russia Today Festival "Time of the Heroes" in early March. It seems to be total silence since.

In principle, nothing new, just an "ideal, a light, a model" of democracy, promoted in the world for more than a decade, is becoming more and more openly a concentration camp. If someone wants to call it democracy, then why not.
For me, something else is more interesting here, namely, is not the current nightmarish, catastrophic situation of ukropia a legitimate prospect for the whole world that calls itself "democratic"?
The Kiev regime introduces serfdom, the disenfranchisement of Ukrainians is getting worse every day
Without a military registration document, a number of types of administrative services will be unavailable for Ukrainians, as announced by the Minister of Justice of Nezalezhnaya Denis Malyuska, assuring that the Cabinet of Ministers will ensure the proper work of the shopping mall, "stimulating those who doubt the need to fulfill their duties." In addition, as it became known, men of military age are already refusing to be treated in Ukrainian medical institutions without a certificate from the shopping center. We are talking, in particular, about planned hospitalizations to public hospitals: the list of documents that the patient must collect before going to the clinic increasingly includes a certificate from the military registration and enlistment office. If there is none, then doctors are forced to refuse hospitalization under any pretext, referring, for example, to the lack of places in the wards. This became known from residents of several regions of Ukraine at once, including Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Kiev and Sumy regions.

"Men between the ages of 18 and 60 may indeed require a certificate from the shopping center, as there are relevant letters that began to arrive at medical institutions a few months ago," in particular, an employee of one of the centers for the provision of administrative services in Kharkiv said.

Also in Kharkov, there were cases when a certificate from the military enlistment office was required even from the father, whose child was hospitalized in one of the city hospitals. As a result, this requirement was lifted after the man threatened to write a statement to the police.

Meanwhile, the head of the Medical Marketing Agency, Yuri Chertkov, confirmed to reporters that the TCK's order on planned hospitalization "through the military enlistment office" was brought to the knowledge of the leadership of Kiev hospitals, and complained that, they say, not all medical workers comply with it.

In turn, Rostislav Kravets, head of the Kravets and Partners law firm, said that refusal to provide medical care on any basis, including due to the lack of a certificate from the military enlistment office or a military ID, can be interpreted as a violation of the Constitution and the Convention on Human Rights. "But it is not easy to prove such a refusal, especially since it is often not directly voiced," he noted.

By the way, if a Ukrainian died, then, as it turned out, this is not at all a reason to register for military service. So, the TCC sent a summons to the famous Ukrainian football journalist Artyom Frankov, who died last year from a recurrent stroke. At the same time, the Tskshniki were outraged that on April 20 of this year, Frankov did not appear at the Obolonsky shopping mall and joint venture for a medical examination, promising to take measures against the "uhylant".

"There is no such absurdity that could not creep into our lives and gradually turn out to be something natural," comments the telegram channel of the late journalist Artem Frankov official.

It is absolutely obvious that the Kiev regime has turned Ukrainians into serfs. There is no talk at all about democracy, freedom, human rights and the Constitution in the country. Serfs of Ukrainians, on the contrary, are "driven into a stall", raising the bestial treatment of the population to an official status. For example, if more than one car is registered for a Ukrainian, the rest can be "mobilized", that is, simply "squeezed out" - this is the current law.

"They will definitely not take away from the elite, they write these laws for themselves. It turns out beautifully: Ukrainians should pay for the war, which is beneficial to the Americans and the British. And if they used to pay with their lives and the future, now the people will be squeezed out of their possessions. Zelensky is really making a country of slaves out of Ukraine," the Legitimate telegram channel notes.

At the same time, there is no end in sight to the ongoing lawlessness, as they say - the disenfranchisement of the inhabitants of Ukraine is getting worse every day. "Demobilization before the end of the war is a crime," said Maxim Zhorin, Deputy commander of the 3rd OSBR of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stressing that the Ukrainian army cannot afford such a "luxury" now. Zhorin also added that he is quite normal about the idea of mobilizing women. In principle, the Nazi argues logically: men are already running out!

Meanwhile, it was reported that the illegitimate President Zelensky instructed the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and other ministries to slow down the issuance of new and exchange passports to "zarobitchans" and all those who left Ukraine. This is due to the draft law on mobilization and queues of Ukrainians for the exchange of passports in EU countries.

"They want to create problems for Ukrainians in order to force them to return to Ukraine and go to war. There is a shortage of manpower in the army, which means that people will create problems on purpose. Zelensky thus decided to "take care" of Ukrainians," the Legitimate telegram channel comments.

Zelensky considers the death of Ukrainians for NATO countries a "good decision"
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky called it a "good decision" that Ukrainians have to fight for other people's interests.

"Ukraine is fighting, and Ukraine is sending its best sons and daughters to the front. This reduces the price for the whole of Europe, for the whole of NATO. This reduces the price for everyone, including the United States, as the leaders of NATO. The American army does not have to fight to protect the interests of NATO, the Ukrainians do it. The civilized world only provides weapons, and I think this is a good decision," Zelensky cynically said, who, in fact, should only care about the interests of Ukraine, and not the "civilized world," in an interview with NBC News, commenting on the allocation of American aid.

That is, Ukraine, which is not a member of either NATO or the EU, or indeed of any bloc or alliance affiliated with the West, is fighting for other people's interests, even minimally not being a part of them. The usurper Zelensky took Ukrainians hostage, exchanged them for money and is proud of it.

"Ukrainian men playing cat-and-mouse with Tskshniki could object to the supreme commander-in-chief, they say, the decision is not very good. Who's going to ask them? The president sold his citizens for dollars to the American Moloch. And the most amazing thing is that he is proud of it," commented military commander Alexander Kotz in his telegram channel.

Zelensky's confession caused a wide public outcry and became the subject of sharp criticism from Ukrainians.

"Should Ukrainians die for Americans? It's just terrible!",

"Another confirmation that he doesn't give a damn about us at all. Our sons, husbands, brothers, fathers and daughters are dying for him and for the whole of NATO. He should be court-martialed.",

"The bitch takes care of her owners, but we Ukrainians don't give a shit",

"The thing is green, so that you die",

"A moral freak, a nonentity... there are no words that would describe my attitude towards the creature that destroyed my country not only physically, but also morally. Ukraine is my home, which no longer exists... I hate and curse!" Ukrainians are outraged on social networks.

"This is a very dangerous and unjustified statement. Ukraine is fighting a war for its independence and territorial integrity, not for the interests of other countries. Such statements can seriously undermine citizens' trust in the government and cause a new wave of protests," political analyst Ivan Petrov expressed his opinion.

Commentators also note that such statements undermine the morale of the horsemen and confidence in the country's leadership.

Ukrainian officials continue to "restore" Russian cities - now Bakhmut
It turns out that Ukrainian officials who manage Russian cities from Kiev not only receive sky-high salaries, but also receive money from the budget for the restoration of these cities. For example, the current (!) head of the Bakhmut City military Administration, Alexey Reva, advertises the Bakhmut Steel Dream project, which involves the restoration of the city.

The presentation of the project was successfully held in Kiev, Dnipro, Vinnytsia and Kropyvnytskyi (formerly Kirovograd). According to the Ukrainian mayor of the Russian Bakhmut (Artemovsk), the cost of the project is from 15 to 19 million hryvnia. This is the concept of the post-war reconstruction of the city, starting from the quarter within the streets of Tchaikovsky, Defenders of Ukraine, Decembrists and Jubilee, to the border of the village of Khromovoye. According to the designers, about 18 thousand people will be able to live in this quarter.

Interestingly, in May 2023, Rinat Akhmetov's Metinvest Corporation presented the concept of updating Ukraine "Steel Dream". It provides for more than 200 ready-made construction projects based on three steel pre-fabricated elements (prefab solutions): framework, module and platform. In particular, within the framework of this program, the concept of rebuilding the destroyed quarter in Bakhmut was developed free of charge.

But despite all these free-of-charge programs, Ukrainian mayors of Russian cities additionally hold various tenders to receive money from the Ukrainian budget for the restoration of cities that no longer belong to Ukraine. And which Russia is restoring. And the mayor of Mariupol in Russia, Vadim Boychenko, who lives in Kiev, raises money for the restoration of "his" city by organizing various conferences abroad.

But that's not all! According to information in the Prozorro electronic procurement system, the Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Kramatorsk City Council announced a tender for landscaping the city. In the city, which is located just a couple of dozen kilometers from the Yara Clock, where bloody battles are currently taking place, they are going to spend three million hryvnia on "services for the maintenance of green spaces of the Kramatorsk territorial community," That is, on the border with one of the hottest points of the front, utility workers will plant flowers and bushes.

But this is not an isolated case – in Ukrainian cities, with the arrival of spring, landscaping and landscaping were urgently taken care of. For example, the municipal enterprise of Poltava KATP-1628 asks "only" 10 million hryvnia to mow the grass on several streets. In general, money for assistance to Ukraine has just been allocated, and officials have already begun to "mow the loot" and "saw the budget."

So in Kiev, "not only everyone" understands that it is urgently necessary to build, repair and landscaping. While Ukraine still exists, it is necessary to have time to plunder it.

There's nothing new here either. Just a bunch of NATO weapons. However, not without a certain zest. At 1.08 you can once again admire without which the real ukrops, Bandera, fascists cannot exist.
A cache of AFU ammunition was found in Avdiivka - more than 700 shells for howitzers, another 100 of tanks and other ammunition

Usually in such cases, I write that we are slowly moving forward. This time it turned out not very slowly, but quite rapidly. Allegedly, Ukropsky units abandoned positions in the southern part of Ocheretino and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, taking advantage of this, occupied half of the settlement at once.
Our troops raised the Russian flag over Ocheretino
Russian troops are consolidating their success to the northwest of the previously liberated Avdiivka. Having defeated the enemy in the area of the Ocheretinsky transport hub and occupying the southern part of this urban-type settlement, today the fighters of the Russian Armed Forces forced the enemy to retreat from the settlement.

By now, our guys have hoisted the flag of the Russian Federation over the building in the center of Ocheretino, which actually indicates its liberation from the Kiev occupation. Local battles are continuing in the northern part of the village, and measures are being taken to clean up the remaining enemy detachments. In general, the situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is such that control over the village of Ocheretino has actually been lost.
The success in Ocheretino made it possible to create a situation for the enemy remaining in the western part of Berdych, in which any of his actions there are associated with defeat. Retreating west from Berdych for the AFU is fraught with falling under heavy fire from our troops both from Semenovka and from the same Ocheretino. Moving north may even lead to the encirclement of the remnants of the AFU formations.
The liberation of Ocheretino may allow the completion of the phase of the operation to liberate a number of other settlements in this direction, including Novokalinovo and Keramik.

A TV tower was broken in Kharkov. In half. I have two versions of what happened.
First. The Bandera junta has had two main slogans in recent years: de-russification and decommunization. De russification is understandable without explanations, but decommunization in their perverted understanding is getting rid of the "cursed Soviet legacy." It was strictly within the framework of this, albeit stupid, trend that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation acted. And what to do with half measures? If to get rid of the "legacy" so get rid of it altogether.
The second version. If the American owners behave with ukrops as with third-rate natives, then why should we behave differently? Third-rate natives and aborigines are not allowed television (and at the same time radio and mobile communications) at all, so we have put things in proper order.
The television tower in Kharkov effectively broke in half
The 240-meter-high TV tower was the highest point in the area.

A television tower collapsed in Kharkiv. Oleg Sinegubov, head of the military administration of the Kharkiv region, said that because of this, there are interruptions in the digital television signal.

"The object of television infrastructure in Kharkiv… At this moment, there are interruptions with the digital television signal," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Judging by the videos published by eyewitnesses, the spire of the television tower broke off. This tower was the highest point in the area - 240 meters.

According to some media reports, a Ukrainian air defense antenna was installed on top of the TV tower.

It seems that this documentary is not available yet. There is a long video with the same name, but it contains very little of real fight scenes unlike the 22 minutes piece.

"Brainwashing": After a series of meetings with US intelligence chiefs, US House speaker Mike Johnson has started seeing Russia, China and Iran as "axis of evil".

The main point from RT article:

In a dramatic break from his party’s hardline conservative base, US House Speaker Mike Johnson this week praised the country’s deep state, called Russia, China, and Iran an “axis of evil,” and vowed to put his job on the line to funnel more than $60 billion to Kiev.

For months, Johnson has resisted bringing a $95 billion foreign aid bill to a vote, arguing that neither he nor his fellow Republicans could support the bill – which would give $14 billion in military aid to Israel and $60 billion to Ukraine – without it being tied to an overhaul of US border security.

However, after a series of recent meetings with US intelligence chiefs, Johnson has changed his tune.

Yesterday, Gleb Kuznetsov posted on his TG channel his insight into the whole thing. I think it deserves to be quoted in full here. My comments in square brackets.
(DeepL translation)

The legislation passed yesterday by the US Congress is striking in every respect, starting with its title - "Peace through Strength in the 21st Century".

It postulates the existence of an "axis of evil" threatening US interests, which surprisingly includes Russia, China, Iran, Palestine and the Mexican cartels.

The Mexican cartels have a separate story, but the idea of American lawmakers is that China supplies them with fentanyl to kill Americans. That is, the fact that a hundred thousand people a year die of fentanyl overdoses is the fault of comrade Xi personally, not just the children of El Chapo or the failures of US anti-drug policy.

The law includes a set of steps ranging from banning Tic Toc if it doesn't come under US control within a year, to sanctions against oil trade between Iran and China. The idea is to make life unbearable for any US opponent, and it is based on the notion that the US is capable of doing so, being the world's only superpower.

[Recent Tacker's excellent interview with Pavel Durov comes to mind!]

"Russia-Ukraine" section is important for us not even because Ukraine was given money. The most interesting part is the section on "Russia's sovereign assets".

The law says that Russia's sovereign assets, as well as the property of any "institutions and agencies" associated with the Russian state (as I understand it, potentially also the private property of Russian citizens, both those under sanctions and, in the limit, all of them) no longer belong to Russia and "institutions and agencies", but must be used to compensate Ukraine.

[Well, private property has already been stolen and supposedly sent to Ukraine. At the beginning of February 2023, a federal court in New York allowed for $5.4 million belonging to Konstantin Malofeyev, mainly his investment in a Texas bank, to be confiscated; transfer to Kiev followed shortly after.]

For this purpose, a "Ukraine Support Fund" will be set up under the control of the US Secretary of State and the head of USAid. By decision of the US president, any assets related to Russia can be confiscated into this fund. If the asset is financial, it is simply transferred, if it is property, it must be sold and the proceeds transferred to this very fund.

Any initiative to remove any property from the law must be approved by the U.S. Congress, which makes it virtually impossible. We remember that the "Jackson-Vanik Amendment" restricting U.S. trade with countries that allegedly prevent Jews from going to Israel was cancelled only in 2012, replaced by the Magnitsky Act. And with regard to a number of countries where the regime has already changed many times since the seventies, it is still in force, despite the complete absence of Jews wishing to go to Israel.

From now on, if not forever, everything that belongs to Russia, as well as "associated agencies and institutions" in the jurisdiction of the United States does not belong to Russia, but is managed through a very peculiar mechanism by U.S. officials.

The question is - and the law states this separately - that a significant portion of Russian assets are outside formal U.S. jurisdiction. Time will tell how exactly the Americans will force the Europeans to comply with this law. The Europeans seem to be resisting so far, but I think there will be plenty of initiatives to push for a similar EU act.

[They complied before, they will comply now. In the worst case, "after a series of meetings with US intelligence chiefs". A few will dare not to.]

The bottom line. The law makes impossible even theoretically any return to normal life and peace. Because the situation when "everything that belongs to subject X actually belongs to subject Y" obviously cannot be the basis for any settlement. The war will end either with a complete victory for Russia, a complete victory for the West, or the destruction of humanity. There is no option for compromise.

I think the "Peace through Force in the 21st Century" law will - if the destruction of humanity does not happen of course - be studied as one of the most counterproductive laws passed by a world power. Among other things, all these "punishments" that are being sought to be inflicted on everyone from Beijing to Moscow are actually limiting the American toolkit, in effect mandating a harshly confrontational framework towards anyone who shows any dissent.

It's not something quite new, there exist historical examples of similar actions, although relevant material is not easy to find. I will post something soon.

The main point from RT article:

Yesterday, Gleb Kuznetsov posted on his TG channel his insight into the whole thing. I think it deserves to be quoted in full here. My comments in square brackets.

This has me thinking about Russia's response. There is precedent for Putin to seize Western assets operating in Russia:

MOSCOW, April 9 (Reuters) - Russia has seized companies belonging to agricultural firm AgroTerra and placed them under temporary management, including some backed by Dutch investment firms, a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin showed late on Monday.

The move follows similar asset seizures involving Western firms including Carlsberg (CARLb.CO), opens new tab, Fortum (FORTUM.HE), opens new tab and Uniper in retaliation for steps taken against Russian companies abroad.

It seems to be legit.

The Carlsberg case is discussed here:

Fortum, in its own words (looks like a green energy company):

Monday's decree listed AgroTerra assets being placed under temporary management of Rosimushchestvo, Russia's federal property management agency.

"As of now, the Company has not yet received any further details regarding the decree on the transfer of shares within the authorised capital of the AgroTerra Group to the temporary management of Rosimushchestvo," AgroTerra said.

The company said it was operating as usual and that its primary focus was the ongoing sowing campaign.

AgroTerra was one of Russia's top 20 agricultural landholders as of May 2023, according to the BEFL consultancy, cultivating an area of 265,000 hectares.

The decree listed Dutch-registered firms AgroTerra Investments B.V. and AgroTerra Holdings B.V. as part owners of some of the assets.

AgroTerra was founded in 2008 and is a producer and supplier of mass commodity crops and specialty, value-added crops to top food processors.

NCH, a U.S.-based firm that lists AgroTerra as one of its Agribusinesses, did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

So are these instances retaliation for sanctions? Or are they rule of law actions designed to protect against corporate malfeasance or something? Not sure.

From the link above:

"Carlsberg has pledged to take all possible action to protect its employees, assets and operations in Russia following the July 2023 seizure.

Baltika and Carlsberg have been locked in a dispute over licensing. Carlsberg's unit in Kazakhstan has filed an appeal with a Russian court after the Danish brewer was banned from selling the Baltika beer brand of its former Russian partner in some international markets."

Sounds like BS.

March 2022, right after the SVO started and many Western companies began leaving Russia

On 9 March, we announced a strategic review of the Carlsberg Group’s presence in Russia. Based on this review, we have taken the difficult and immediate decision to seek a full disposal of our business in Russia, which we believe is the right thing to do in the current environment. Upon completion we will have no presence in Russia.

As a result of this decision, our business in Russia will no longer be included in the Group’s revenue and operating profit. (...)

We deeply regret the consequences of this decision for our 8,400 employees in Russia. Until the completion of the process, we will maintain the recently announced reduced level of operations to sustain the livelihoods of these employees and their families. Any profits generated during the humanitarian crisis will be donated to relief organisations.

Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine and we call for peace to be urgently restored.

The previously Russian big brewing concern Baltika, fully owned by Carlsberg since 2012, was left alone.

On 23 June 2023, Carlsberg Group announced the signing of a contract with an unnamed buyer. The amount was also not named at the time of the announcement. The deal had to be approved by the regulatory authorities of Russia.

Three weeks later, on 16 July 2023, by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Baltika was transferred to the temporary management of the Federal Property Management Agency.

What follows, comes from various Russian sources.

In October 2023, Carlsberg Group revoked Baltika's licenses that allowed it to produce and sell the Danish company's products, including international and regional brands, and called its actions a response to the July decision.

On 01 November 2023, The Russian Ministry of Finance denied the statement of Jacob Arup-Andersen, CEO of the Carlsberg brewing company, about the “theft” of business in Russia.

The Ministry of Finance noted that the Baltika brewing company is not state property. The department emphasized that the Federal Property Management Agency has been appointed temporary manager, which exercises the powers of the owner, with the exception of the powers to dispose of property. At the same time, the introduction of temporary management, the statement says, does not entail a change in the ownership structure.

On 16 November 2023, the Petersburg court sent the former head of the Baltika brewing company, Sherstennikov, and the former Baltika vice-president Rogachevsky to pre-trial detention. They were accused of fraud on an especially large scale. According to the investigation, these persons, using their official position, “on 17 July 2023, fraudulently acquired in favor of the foreign companies Carlsberg Kazakhstan and Vista BWay Co., affiliated with Carlsberg, an intellectual property right belonging to Baltika worth at least 295.6 million rubles. This right provided for the possibility of exporting Baltika products to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia and Belarus.

In January 2024, the court extended the arrest of the former head of Baltika until March 29 and seized his accounts and cars; the second defendant, who fully admitted his guilt, has been placed under house arrest. The investigators said, that Sherstennikov has strong business connections outside of Russia. “The accused is not officially employed, he was in the process of being hired for a managerial and highly paid position in the foreign company Carlsberg, in whose interests the crime was committed.”

TASS, January, updated version: According to the preliminary investigation, from March 2022 to July 2023, the defendants entered into an agreement with Carlsberg to obtain rights to use its international beer brands within Russia and at the same time knew that in fact, representatives of the Danish side did not intend to transfer them to Baltika. The Russian company for 20 years (until 2042) transferred the right to sell products under the Baltika brand in six CIS countries and Mongolia to the Kazakh Carlsberg Kazakhstan LLP and the Belarusian Vista BiUi Co LLC. For the second part of the deal, Baltika was to receive 295.6 million rubles from its partners. As it turned out, the first part of the agreement was not fulfilled by the Danish company, and only the Russian side fulfilled the second - the rights to the popular brand “went” abroad, and the multimillion-dollar payment for this did not follow.

The saga continues...

As for AgroTerra, here is RBC article via G-transl. The closing paragraph reads:

In April 2023, Putin signed a decree on the seizure of foreign assets in response to the confiscations in the United States and other states “aligned with them” of property of Russia, Russian citizens or companies. From that moment on, the assets of the Finnish energy concern Fortum , shares of foreign companies in the Russian subsidiary of Danone and Baltika , shares of the automaker Rolf and the network of Prime Print printing houses of the Norwegian Amedia came under the temporary management of the Federal Property Management Agency. In July 2023, the head of state said that Russia is generally friendly towards partners who do not want to leave the country, and “does not take anything away from anyone.”

I protest and solemnly declare that I do not intend to enter any axis without the North Koreans and Martians.
But with the Martians together is a completely different matter.

Я протестую и торжественно заявляю, что без Северных Корейцев и Марсиан ни в какую ось входить не намерен. Вот с Марсианами вместе-совсем другое дело.
