Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

REPORT: Putin Wants to Buy U.S. Weapons Biden Left in Afghanistan But There's Even More

Billions of dollars worth of U.S. weapons are on the negotiating table between Russian strongman Vladimir Putin and Afghanistan’s Taliban government, according to at least one insider.

Presidentish Joe Biden’s bungled bugout from Afghanistan resulted in a windfall for the new radical Islamic government, including artillery, attack helicopters, and thousands of HUMVEES, machine guns, radios — all left behind as our orderly withdrawal degenerated into a rout.

The Department of Defense estimates the total value of the gear Biden left behind at a whopping $7.12 billion, and now Putin is reportedly offering to buy whatever he and the battered Russian Army need.

According to The Sun, a report on Telelgram (a social media platform popular with Russian milbloggers) claims:
Putin is overseeing negotiations with the Taliban to recognise the Taliban government. In return, the Russian leadership is offering a major arms and military equipment swap,” General SVR channel wrote.

“Putin reported that the Taliban possess weapons and equipment including those seized after coming to power in Afghanistan, that are scarce for the Russian Army at the front,” it further stated.
The Russian Ministry of Defense hasn’t commented on the rumor.

If I’m reading this correctly, this would be more of a weapons swap than a cash deal. The Taliban would give up its Western gear in exchange for diplomatic recognition and Russian weapons. Undoubtedly, ammo, spares, and replacements for Russian equipment would be easier for the Taliban to get hold of than for the Western stuff they have now.

Exactly how much effective use the Russian Army would get out of Biden’s haul is debatable. They’d face the same problem the Taliban has: Lack of spares and proper ammo.

Still, given Russia’s massive losses — including up to 3,000 frontline and reserve main battle tanks — every little bit probably helps.

If the deal goes through, there’s the added bonus of a diplomatic coup against the Biden Administration’s ineptitude — not to mention the further embarrassment of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians being killed by American weapons.

The headline to my story promised more, and here it is: [previously posted]
U.S. Southern Command chief General Laura Richardson told the Atlantic Council this week that the Biden Administration has offered Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua — all trouble spots for us — and six other Latin American nations used U.S. military equipment if they’d send their old Russian and Soviet gear to Ukraine.

This report stands on much firmer ground than the rumor about Putin and the Taliban, having been confirmed by Gen. Richardson herself.

Meanwhile, the U.S., Germany, Poland, and the U.K. are in the process of sending modern main battle tanks like the M1 Abrams, Leopard II, and Challenger 2 to Ukraine.

There’s a deeper realignment going on here, and both these stories are indicative of it.

Communist China’s rise and Russia’s reckless invasion of Ukraine — and the West’s response to both — have effectively blunted globalization. The world is bifurcating once more, with China and Russia on one side, and NATO plus the westernized Pacific Rim nations (Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand) on the other. The rest of the world will be pressured to take sides in Cold War II.

Assuming Ukraine survives Putin’s invasion, they will adopt Western gear whether or not they join NATO. Now that the West is their supplier, it makes little sense for Kyiv to stick with weapons designed and built by their sworn enemy.

Weaning anti-American countries like Cuba and Venezuela off Russian weapons makes a callous kind of sense, as part of an (ill-fated?) effort to realign them westward.

Both sides made a lot of stupid and/or self-defeating plays during the Cold War, and Cold War II is lining up to be just as messy.

The West is now 'directly involved' in Ukraine conflict after agreeing tank deal, Kremlin says as Putin unleashes missile attack on Kyiv in response

The Kremlin claims the West is now 'directly involved' in the Ukraine war after agreeing to send state-of-the-art tanks to the front lines in the fight against Russia's invading forces.

Yesterday, after weeks of bitter infighting, the US and Germany finally agreed to give in to Volodymyr Zelensky's demands and send 31 M1 Abrams tanks, 14 Leopard 2 tanks, and give allies permission to send their own supply. The deal has been hailed as a potential game-changer in the conflict.

A furious Russia has lashed out at the deal and threatened escalating the war beyond the borders of Ukraine, while slamming a barrage of missiles into Kyiv overnight.

So, it looks like we have another "last Chinese warning" from our side, which is likely to suffer the fate of all the previous ones - it will be safely ignored.

Moscow will regard Kiev's use of uranium-tipped projectiles as the use of nuclear weapons
The use of the APU by a projectile with uranium tips will be considered by Russia as the use of nuclear weapons.
Don't see how Putin can not make good on this warning - how bad is it going to get and how soon?

Zelenskyy Regime to Forcibly Conscript Hungarians in Transcarpathia

The Zelenskyy regime is desperate. It is reportedly losing more than 300 soldiers a day in eastern Ukraine. The latest effort by the doomed regime to throw men and foreign war materiel at a slow and overpowering Russian advance in Donbas will completely fall apart.

The regime is now busy abducting potential bullet stoppers in the Zakarpattia Oblast (Ruthenia), situated in the Carpathian Mountains of southwestern Ukraine, between Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.

“Due to heavy losses, which exceed all previous ones, radical methods are used to replenish the numbers [of troops]. According to local sources, the Ukrainian authorities plan to call up 10,000 people from Transcarpathia by spring,” Hungarian journalists told EuroWeekly.

The Zelenskyy regime has apparently taken a page from the British Royal Navy during the Age of Sail. The British employed press gangs to crew ships during war and peacetime. Refusal to be impressed resulted in a one-way trip to the gallows.

“Almost every settlement in Transcarpathia has been for several days now undergoing forced conscription into the army. In the area of the city of Berehove, in Nagysholes, on Sunday the market was surrounded. 70 people were taken away from there,” the post continues.

According to the Budapest news outlet’s observations, this forced conscription into the Ukrainian army “can almost be called a kidnapping of people. In addition, the persecution and deprivation of property of the remaining Hungarians have reached an unprecedented cruel level in Transcarpathia.”

My God. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. How is this not a joke?

Don't see how Putin can not make good on this warning - how bad is it going to get and how soon?
You obviously didn't understand. "The last Chinese warning" Call regular and almost certainly ignored by the addresses (mostly Western) warnings from the Russian side about crossing all kinds of red lines.
The very expression "The Last Chinese Warning" originated in the USSR in the 50s, when the Chinese authorities issued warnings to American forces (mainly the Air Force) that violated the country's borders. Violation occurred frequently and massively and the Chinese had no real resources to influence this, so the warnings were completely ignored and were a simple concussion of the air.
I apologize for my English. Superficial knowledge plus machine translation. It's not easy sometimes, but I'm trying.

The warnings give Russia the opportunity to say "we warned you and you didn't listen", if and when they take a decisive destructive action. The difference between the Last Chinese warning and this is that Russia has the firepower to make good on the warnings if and when they decide to "pull the trigger".

Running the original Russian text through DeepL gave this translation which seems at least slightly better:

Could be a really smart move on Putin’s part, especially if he’s able to grab US equipment like the Blue Force Tracker and hack it. The US had a huge technological advantage in every conflict of the last 2 decades, that’s over against Russia and it’s more likely that Russia holds the edge now.

Michael, that’s the european count of only Leopards. No to count Leclercs, Challengers and soviet T’s still left in eastern europe. The main thing - the process started and aviation is probable coming as well. And you are missing out the count of our destroyed armored units....

If I understand you aright Antony you are saying the Russians should be concerned by these new promises. Maybe consider the following:

1. The Ukrainians are currently down to around 170 tanks from an initial force close to 2,000 at the start of the war. That's an attrition rate of over 90%. So that's one reason why the scream for tanks now is so loud. This also tells you something about the Russian military's complex, inter woven and highly potent anti-tank capability. The tiny number of tanks on offer by NATO - unlikely more than 200-300 - will change nothing now the Russian military has both practiced and perfected this capability.

2. The Abrams and the Leopards are not designed or remotely suitable for tank warfare in eastern Ukraine - they are way too heavy being designed and intended for combat in built up areas of central Europe (e.g. Germany). If they come off the roads they will literally get stuck in the mud until the heat of high summer makes the ground remotely possible for them.

3. Furthermore the heavier the weaponry the higher the increase in maintenance and logistical support required. In the case of both the leopard and the Abrams, the sheer number of specialist service crew and the size of the tank transport and pick up equipment required means that the second each tank runs into any form of difficulty it will effectively be finished as a viable threat. The equivalent of a burst tyre - game over! Added to this, any broken down or damaged tanks that are rescued will have to be shipped back to Poland because the resources and skills required to fix them are not available in Ukraine, again taking them out of action for extended periods.

4. They also have significant design faults that - in the case of the Leopard - make it highly susceptible to battleground stress or crewing error. Ask the Turks who after years of training found their Leopards a total liability when facing the less well armed and resourced jihadists. Beware the lure of a name - the Leopard is actually a neutered stray and will find the last of its reputation go up in smoke as its far more feared predecessors did at the Battle of Kursk.

5. If they are to be crewed by Ukrainians it will take months before they are even close to basic battleground proficiency let alone potency, and given the scale of Russian anti tank resources they face, sadly the crews will not live long enough to acquire either.

6. The US order of Abrams is not coming from US Army stock but 'directly from the manufacturer' with some expert logistical commentators saying this is a sly fudge by the Biden team because there are actually none in stock and they will therefore have to be built from scratch which will take at least a year to deliver! And in a year's time, other than burnt out German Panzers, there will be no Ukrainian army left.

7. All these disparate weapons are all designed and operated to different specs from each other and also to totally different specs to what the Ukrainian army knows. That's called fighting with one arm behind your back.

You cannot successfully create an efficient and potent armed force on the hoof, especially one with equipment that is unsuitable and incompatible. That is why effectively two Ukrainian armies have already been destroyed to date and the third is now dying around Bakhmut.

People see tanks and go wooo! People see images on TV and think wow! But tanks, like cavalry, if not used correctly and with a high degree of protection from other resources such as air power and close infantry support, end up being so easily wiped out in large numbers and at no gains. The west cannot and will not give more than a token amount of its reserve tanks without making their own depleted stocks run so dangerously low that if it actually had to fight a hot war with Russia it would lose within a week.

As for the issue of aviation that is the funniest think I've yet heard! Do people have any idea the scale of the logistics, the complexity of integration, the length of time it would take for Ukrainian pilots to learn new western aircraft from scratch! Weapons are nothing without the men who use them and the men who use them are nothing without sometimes years of training!

None of these weapons are being sent for military strategic purposes. Its all cakes and circuses and blame game avoidance.

God help the Ukrainian boys being asked to deal with this s*'t-show!

The warnings give Russia the opportunity to say "we warned you and you didn't listen", if and when they take a decisive destructive action. The difference between the Last Chinese warning and this is that Russia has the firepower to make good on the warnings if and when they decide to "pull the trigger".
Youlik, I apologize but I don't understand what your trying to say. I'm sure it's lost in translation. I'm interested in what you have to share. Could you could make things clearer?
I'll try to explain. I have explained what the "last Chinese warning" is and I think it is understandable.
Now why do I call our warnings by such a term. The West is pursuing a policy of destroying Russia as a potential geopolitical center of power. The initiative of this policy comes from the USA. All the others, as it were, "participants" in this process, are more or less devoid of subjectivity, they are objects of those policy. The United States, pursuing its policy, does not take into account either the interests of those whom they consider their opponents, or those who are their allies, and this policy is carried out not by means of agreements and compromises, but by pushing through its position by raising the stakes. If anyone else had any hopes that this might not be the case, then the situation with the Northern Streams showed how it really is with the utmost clarity. The stakes have already been raised beyond a reasonable level, when they started talking about trying on nuclear weapons from all sides. So far in the form of "dirty bombs", but it's not far from here to "clean"ones. Based on the above, the address of all our warnings should be the USA and these warnings should not be "Chinese". They should be sensitive specifically for the United States, only then it will make sense.
BHelmet, you write that our warnings give us the opportunity to say something in some case. I think that our authorities take this into account, but at the same time it must be understood that in the "civilized world" Russia has already been a priori appointed the main villain and in this sense, what we say does not matter at all. Our authorities act on the assumption that the enemy will come to his senses sometime, but this will not happen until he gets hurt, and in this sense, all our warnings are still "Chinese".

What an elegant name for a banal lie came up with an unkempt character. University education is immediately felt.
Johnson called the "Normandy format" of negotiations on Ukraine a diplomatic imitation
Anastasia Selivanova
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the "Normandy format", which was created to resolve the situation in Ukraine in 2014, was a "diplomatic imitation". He said this in an interview with the Rada TV channel.

"We then applied some sanctions [against the Russian Federation], launched this diplomatic imitation - the Normandy process, and achieved nothing," Johnson said (quoted by TASS).

The Normandy Format was launched in the summer of 2014 at a meeting of the heads of Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine in Normandy (also known as the Normandy Four). During one of the meetings in 2015, measures were taken to implement the Minsk agreements, as well as the first steps for their implementation were developed.

In December last year, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who took part in the meetings of the Normandy Four, admitted that the Minsk agreements were an attempt to give the Kiev authorities time to strengthen. After that, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Merkel's words disappointed him, and he called the start of the special operation in February last year correct in light of what he heard.

They cant do much damage if disburst on the whole frontline, but if they are concentrated on one direction, it could destabilize the front. That wouldnt be just tanks but artillery and infantry also. Think: battle of the Bulge, it didnt stoped the Allies, but it slowed them. Of course that cant change the course of war, but can give problems to Russians. Even with the public opinion in Russia if many soldiers die.

Today 27th January marks the 78th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by the Soviet army, Poland banned Russia from participating in the ceremony, this just give us an idea (if was necessary) of what kind of demented people we are dealing with, this will not go down well with Russia (Larry Johnson has an article dedicated to this on his website).

What will go down even worse (despite of course the Russians knew all about it, they have been said this for a while and prepared accordingly ) is that another demented, namely the foreign minister of Germany, casually (as to say; please pass the salt) admitted that Europe, mind you not only Germany but Europe (like she speaks for all Europe now) is at war with Russia.
Probably being demented she doesn't even realize (she will not be in the frontline anyway nor will be members of her family) what such an admission means for a Russian i.e. German panzers with the black iron cross on their side once again trampling on the Holy Mother Russian soil, this by any law of war means that Germany (and all Europe) is now a legitimate target, we are just very lucky that Putin (and team) has nerves of steel and they will not react on impulse, but they will react in their own time......after all the military gears needs to be updated once in a while , so this time instead of leaving T-42 in Berlin (or what will be left of it) as a reminder , they will have to leave the T-90.

A small correction. The T-42 of such a tank was not mass-produced. The most famous and massive at the time of the end of the war is the T-34 medium tank.

and heavy IS-2.

This one killed the entire German "menagerie" (Tiger, Panther, Royal Tiger, etc.) indiscriminately
