Behind the Headlines: Paradise Stolen - Interview with Stefan Verstappen

This week we're talking once again to Canadian author, artist, and martial arts expert, Stefan Verstappen. Stefan has a professional background in communications and business management and has travelled extensively throughout East Asia, where he has studied oriental art, culture and Kung Fu. Stefan is the author of 'The art of urban survival' from which the viral YouTube video documentary 'Defense Against the Psychopath' was taken. We previously spoke to Stefan about the video he produced on the topic of historical cycles of human civilization and the manner in which they appear to repeat.

In his video, Stefan makes the case that we are currently in the final stage of our cycle of history, defined, like all others, by widespread chaos. Historically, only small groups of people survived the periods of destruction that defined the end of a cycle, and they did so by forming themselves into tight-knit communities with specific organizational structures.

More recently Stefan has produced 3 more short videos on the theme of "Paradise Stolen" where he explores the specific reasons for our current state of societal chaos, the alternatives to the way we live today, and what we can do to face the future and survive.

Join us this Sunday May 3rd 2015 from 2-4pm EST (8-10pm CET) as we discuss the state of the world, how it got that way, and what we can all do about it.

Thanks for the prompt response. And all the coming shows including Health & Wellness and Truth Perspective should be promoted there as well. It looks like the TP team know the platform is there but perhaps the others (H&W) do not.

Re: Radio show announcement - New Format: Weekly 'Behind the Headlines Show'

Great show, Thanks! I thought the discussion about homosexuality and the legalization of gay marriage in Ireland was interesting, it really is a tricky topic! It makes sense that this hype makes people feel like they're making progress, while there's nothing really to celebrate about considering the chaotic situation the country finds itself in, affecting the quality of life of many. I wouldn't be surprised if the gay rights movement has been infected by pathological individuals. Here in Holland, for example, the huge gay pride parade in Amsterdam usually includes plastic dolls, people dressing themselves inappropriate, and whatnot. It boggles the mind that people find this acceptable considering that it's not suitable for children to witness such a superficial glorification of... I'm not even sure how to call it. In fact, it's not suitable for anyone if one has some sense of what is respectable and appropriate. It's not even about a minority group's rights/pride anymore, it's just one big party, and a 'great' way to keep people occupied. Meanwhile, homosexuals are still being mistreated, bullied etc., an increase of such incidents actually has been reported, at least here. So yea, not sure things are going to improve.

Well, just some thoughts, thanks again!

Thanks for the newest show, guys! It was a real fun :)

Your sense of humor makes the ironing considerably less boring :)

We're glad you like it. I think we're going to be making humor a mainstay of future shows. I mean, there's no point in being depressed while discussing the depressing state of the world. The least we can do is make fun, where appropriate, of the ridiculousness of it all, because it is, from a certain pov, absolutely ridiculous.
