Revamp of The Wave - feedback and suggestions welcome

Here is our proposal (from Stuart and I) for the cover of Wave 4 - Through a Glass Darkly.

I must give Stuart props for some excellent collage work on this one. :D

Well, I'm speechless.

Posting it here for feedback, suggestions are welcome!

The title is missing. :P

The black dot in the right head, could this one also be faded out (or drawing the greenish lines in, when it is meant as a counter part), because with its sharp lines/egdes it sticks out more imo.

Likewise -- in general, it looks really good and fits in well with the theme of the first three covers.

I agree, and it's the first thing that caught my attention -- it looks a little bit like someone used a hole-puncher, so I'd suggest smoothing it over or getting rid of it.

The only other suggestion that springs to mind is about the lower center image -- I think it's a fleur-de-lis? It's a bit too dark to make out the details.

I vote for this one too.

And this one. They both grabbed my attention. I think they would make people wonder what the book is about and buy it. Beautiful work everyone :)

Awestruck!! :O
So far, these are my favorites as well...the colours immediately grabbed my eye, and I agree that the Soul Hackers cover will grab the attention of any new agers--a very large population out there. And, there is some science/quantum like graphics with her face as well.
I do like the bird covers too, about equally--they are soul art IMO.
Amazing work, all.

Hi everyone, JohnnyRadar and I would like to showcase our cover for Riding the Wave and would appreciate any feedback:

:)

Oh, my....that does say a lot.
I'm still attached to the earlier cover too--the Soul Hackers with woman's face. Seems like seeing a woman's face is important, since it is the 'maiden at the well', grail message IMO.

SolarMother, the first 3 Wave books have already had the new covers implemented and are now available for purchase. If you got to the RPP store or http://www.qfgpublishing.com/ you can see the books with their new cover art.

Oh, my...another one of my blonde moments. I thought those covers looked familiar, since I have those books, and at the same time I thought this thread was a new one and was about creating NEWER covers for the coming year! I didn't bother to notice the date of the first posts either. :-[

Perhaps time to sign off for awhile! geez...

I'll reinforce those views too.

I second Anart's choice for "Riding The Wave", because the
text is easily seen and "from a distance" - for example, some
may walk by the book stand and could easily see the complete
text - an attention grabber. The maroon background gives the
white text a high contrast.

Comparing the above recommendation with Anart's choice for
"Soul Hackers", the only problem is that "from a distance", it is
hard to see/read the words: "The Hidden Hands Behind The New
Age Movement" as some of the others like it are similarly hard to
read. Perhaps separate the text from the image or enhance the
contrast with an appropriate background to make the text completely
unobstructed and easily readable?

Thanks for the feedback and the kind words guys!

I have been thinking about this as well, as I look at it more it stands out, along with what you also mentioned below:

It is a fleur de lis, in the context of this book it's supposed to represent the "Priory of Sion", and if you look at the images as a whole you'll see the symbol is within the dark dot of the yin-yang, which is faded into the background.

We'll take these points into consideration and try to work these details out a bit more.

dant, see Heimdallr's response below... I believe the overall theme for the books is set, from the look and feel of the first three. What we are trying to nail down at the moment is the center image for book 4 of the series, and make sure it accurately and artistically represents the content of the book (while also looking spiffy :))

Just for everyone's clarification, Books 1-3 (Riding The Wave, Soul Hackers, Stripped to the Bone) are not undergoing a change in cover art. Those have had fairly recent updates. It is Book 4, The Terror of History, that is currently having its cover art re-done.

I believe the new title is "Through a Glass Darkly" isn't it?

This was my understanding, and also that a subtitle/phrase has yet to be set.

I didn't know of this new title for book 4 until now. But I think, it really applies to the outlook of the new cover - much more than "The Terror of History", imo. I am really curious, what the subtitle will be. Btw., really gorgeous work, guys. Well done!

I read it somewhere else too, that the title has been changed, to what Laura mentions.

FWIW.
