Revamp of The Wave - feedback and suggestions welcome

Hmm...I have to admit that I like the first version much better. It was clean, straight to the point, and had a serious (scientific?) appeal to it, including incorporating somewhat "mysterious"/metaphysical concepts as well. I also liked how you placed Cassiopaea in the corner, but still as if a part of the rest of the stars. It was smart.

Seconded on all counts -- I still like your general design a lot, but I think the first version is superior -- the wrap-around wording in this version makes is feel less serious.

And the new version, well....can't say anything really good about that. ;) That's my opinion, anyway.

Yeah, I like the originals overall, as well. I do like the new font, and the embellishments around Laura's name, though.

Also, I like the subtlety of the comet in the first one. You might not even catch it on first glance, but after reading the book you'll notice it! Those little "discoveries" add to the experience, IMO.

And this one. They both grabbed my attention. I think they would make people wonder what the book is about and buy it. Beautiful work everyone :)

Since the birdie versions are not really appropriate, I vote for JR's 1st versions (and agree with Keit's and Shijing's reservations regarding the 2nd versions).
I also like Stuart's very much.

I definitely don't like the cover with the woman face, though I admit it might appeal to some new-age type readers.

Ok, I'll play around with the colors a bit on the first version after work today. After taking a second look, I see what you guys mean about the difference in "seriousness" between the two versions... thanks for the feedback!

Stuart these ones are sweet :D I really like that first one with the "grunge" on the background and the inverted color for the shape coming out of the person's head. Also, IMO, the banding on the background works better in the first one than the heavy "double-banding" in the other two... Nice!

Actually, these images would be great for "soul hackers". Especially the first one... though I DO like the purple!

It was my first impression too when I saw the image, that it will best fit "Soul hackers".

I like the first of the three also. The only thing that I have a hard time with is the picture of the head in the lower right -- it looks like another object is super-imposed on it, but I can't tell what it is. I like the overall design quite a bit though.

I really like Stuart's first of the three, too. Perhaps JR's soul hackers cover could be used for Petty Tyrants? Would it be possible for you guys (Stuart and JR) to share files, in order to get Stuart's graphics to match JR's template?
