The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said that US alliance aircrafts targeted at 5 PM on Saturday a Syrian Arab Army position in al-Tharda Mountain in the surroundings of Deir Ezzor Airport, causing losses in lives and equipment and clearly paved the way for ISIS terrorists to attack the position and take control of it.

In a statement, the General Command said that this act is a serious and blatant aggression against the Syrian Arab Republic and its army, and constitutes conclusive evidence that the United States and its allies support ISIS and other terrorist organizations, stressing that this act reveals the falseness of their claims of fighting terrorism.

Israeli Air Force attacks Syrian Army in the Golan Heights

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/israeli-air-force-attacks-syrian-army-golan-heights/

Minutes ago, the Israeli Air Force carried out an airstrike over the Golan Heights, targeting the Syrian Arab Army's (SAA) positions near the border-town of Hader.

According to a military source in the Golan Heights, the Israeli airstrike targeted Fouj Al-Joulan's (Golan Regiment) defenses near Hader, killing one soldier and wounding 5 others.

The Israeli Air Force reportedly used an attack drone to strike the Syrian Army in the Al-Quneitra Governorate, which is similar to their previous airstrikes in the Golan Heights.

This Israeli airstrike was done in retaliation for the mortar shell that was fired into the occupied Golan Heights by an unknown party.

Israel holds the Syrian government responsible for every attack on their soil, regardless if they actually carried out the aggression.

Putin: US is already violating Syria agreement, "regrouping" Al-Nusra
http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/09/putin-us-is-already-violating-syria.html

The US does not want to disclose the agreement on Syria because the international community will find out who is not really fulfilling their commitments, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated.

We agreed that Jebat Al-Nusra and others like it should be singled out and it should be shown where they are at and where so-called healthy forces are. But what do we see now? We are now seeing not the separation of terrorists from the healthy part of the opposition, but attempts at regrouping these terrorists,” the president added.

On Friday evening, the meeting of the UN Security Council was not held. Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, reported that the meeting was cancelled “because the US is not ready to share the documents with members of the Security council or even describe them in detail.”

Churkin expressed doubt as to whether the Security Council would adopt a resolution in support of the agreement on Syria as long as Washington refuses to disclose the details.

The American side explained its refusal to disclose the details because such could affect the safety of humanitarian aid delivery in Syria.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov repeatedly urged Washington to make public the whole package of Russian-American agreements on Syria that were reached in Geneva last week, and obtain the approval of the UN Security Council.

On Monday, September 12th, a ceasefire entered into force in accordance with the Russian-American plan on Syria. In the future, the Joint Implementation Center will begin work which includes Russian and US military officers and will coordinate strikes on the positions of terrorists in agreed-upon regions where the actions of Syrian aircraft are to be suspended.

Over 5,500 terrorists as well as 20 tanks and infantry fighting vehicles are concentrated in four regions of Syria's Hama province, a senior Syrian Army official said Saturday.

"According to the intelligence data, in the areas of Khan Shaykhun, Akerbat, Zarah and Narbe-Nafs terrorists concentrated over 5,500 fighters, 20 tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, more than 30 mortars and multiple rocket launcher systems," the official said at a videoconference with Russia's National Defense Management Center.

Terrorist groups have gathered a large number of equipped militants near the road connecting Hama to al-Salamiyah, military sources said, adding that the militants have used intelligence from their western and regional backers to do so.

"The gathering of hundreds of fresh militants near Hama-al-Salamiyah road means that the terrorist groups plan to access the Syrian Army's strategic supply route of Khanasser to Aleppo," the sources said.

"The September 9 ceasefire has provided this opportunity for the terrorist groups to move a large number forces from other regions to Hama with the help of their Israeli, western and Arab backers," they added.

"On the other hand, terrorist groups have a plan to lay a siege on Hama city from the three Northern, Eastern and Western directions," the sources went on to say.

"Should the Syrian army and popular forces beat terrorist groups back from Northern Hama, the militant groups will fail to access Hama-al-Salamiyah road and there won't be any chance for the militants to lay siege on Hama city," the sources added.

The General Command of the Syrian army has accused the US-led coalition of bombing the Syrian army's positions in Deir ez-Zor, SANA news agency reported.

Damascus Accuses US-Led Coalition of Bombing Syrian Army in Deir Ez-Zor
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160917/1045414848/syria-us-led-coalition.html

The Syrian military said that aircraft of the US-led coalition targeted Syrian government forces near Deir ez-Zor airport state media reported.

The attack resulted in casualties and destroyed Syrian army's equipment and "clearly paved the way" for Daesh terrorist group to advance and gain control over the position, the General Command said as quoted by SANA.

Damascus called the US-led coalition's alleged attack a "serious and blatant aggression" against Syria and Syrian government army. The Syrian military added that it "constitutes conclusive evidence that the United States and its allies support ISIS [Daesh] and other terrorist organizations, stressing that this act reveals the falseness of their claims of fighting terrorism."

The Syrian military aircraft dropped leaflets over the terrorist-held regions in Idlib province, calling on the militants to surrender or wait for the army's massive attacks soon.

The Syrian army aircraft dropped leaflets reading "Surrender Now" over Jisr al-Shoghour city to give the Takfiri terrorists a last chance to lay down their arms and surrender to the authorities.

Military sources said that hundreds of leaflets have been dropped over Jisr al-Shoghour for several times now.

Reports said on Friday that the Syrian fighter jets pounded the strongholds of Fatah al-Sham in Southern Idlib, destroying the infrastructures of the militants' sites in large scale.

A senior commander of the military operations in Aleppo underlined the Syrian army troops' preparedness to show tough reaction to the terrorists' violation of the ceasefire.

"Terrorists have violated the ceasefire in certain areas, specially in Housing Project 1070, Jamiat al-Zahra region and Castillo road," Colonel Fater Maihoub told FNA on Saturday.

He also said that the Fatah al-Sham terrorists have broken the truce in the military academy region of Aleppo in the past few days.

"The Syrian army and its allies are fully prepared to repel the terrorist attacks and will give a crushing response to any violation of the ceasefire by the militants," Maihoub stressed.

His remarks came after Deputy Chief of the Russian reconciliation center in Syria Sergey Kapitsyn said that the Syrian government forces, who based on the September 9 ceasefire plan had withdrawn from the Castillo road, returned to their previous positions due to the terrorist groups' movements, reinvigoration of the militants' combat abilities and violation of truce in the region.

"Last night, the terrorist groups shelled the Syrian army troops' positions with several mortar rounds and light machineguns, leaving two Syrian soldiers seriously wounded," Kapitsyn said today.

"After several attacks by terrorist groups on the strongholds of the Syrian army and in order to prevent militants' raid and capture of the government forces' previous positions in Castillo, the Syrian military decided to redeploy forces to three positions in Castillo region," the Russian commander said.

The Castillo road should serve as a humanitarian corridor to deliver much-needed UN aid to the civilians in the besieged city of Aleppo and the neighboring regions, according to an agreement brokered by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his US counterpart, John Kerry, in Geneva on September 9.

Media sources said that Israeli intelligence officers have been recruiting hundreds of mercenaries from terrorist groups in Syria, specially from Fatah al-Sham (the newly-formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) to form a new militant army to intensify fight against Damascus.

Israeli intelligence officers contact the militants, mostly form Fatah al-Sham, at Israel's border with Syria to gain preliminary information about them, then they ask them to communicate with these officers individually to go to the Israeli territories. The Israeli officers offer a large amount of money to these militants to join the new force to fight against the Syrian government," an informed sources told al-Safir.

"Israel, with this project, does not want to form a simple intelligence group at border with Syria. They want to establish a new army of militants to fight against the Syrian government forces," they added.

On Tuesday, Knesset member, Akram Hasson said Fatah al-Sham Front was bombing the Syrian Druze village of Khadr with Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s support and protection.

The Israeli lawmaker specified that Israel was directly aiding the terrorist group in the battles on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights.

In a status posted on his Facebook page, Knesset Member Akram Hasson form Kulanu party claimed Fatah al-Sham Front was bombing the Druze village of Khadr with Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s support and protection.

Hasson said that the quiet village of Khadr near the Syrian border had been subject to persistent bombardments by Fatah al-Sham Front's militants.

“We have gotten information from all fronts and from people who are responsible within the village that
Fatah al-Sham is operating with unprecedented support from Israel, because the organization’s fighters are advancing in those places where the Israeli Forces had previously bombed Syrian positions and the organization is holding those positions, in addition to the logistical and medical assistance it’s getting from Israel.”

Russia: US will be responsible if ceasefire fails – Russian MoD Sep 17, 2016
Lieutenant General Viktor Poznikhir accused the USA of failing to fulfil their obligations to uphold the ceasefire in Syria, during a press briefing in Moscow, on Saturday. "The United States and the so-called moderate groups controlled by it have not observed a single obligation under the Geneva agreements" said Poznikhir.

SOT, Vladimir Savchenko, Head of the Centre for Reconciliation of the warring sides in Syria (Russian):
"The situation in Syria is becoming more tense. This is mostly observed in Aleppo and Hama Provinces, where the opposition troops, using the ceasefire regime, redeploy forces, fill supplies of ammunition, equipment and prepare the offensive in order to capture new territories."

SOT, Lieutenant General Viktor Poznikhir, Deputy Chief, Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff, Russia's Defence Ministry (Russian): "We state that only the Russian and Syrian sides observe fully their obligations. As an initiative, Russia extended the ceasefire regime for 48 hours, and yesterday it was extended for another 72 hours. The United States and so-called moderate groups controlled by it have not observed a single obligation under the Geneva agreements."

SOT, Lieutenant General Viktor Poznikhir, Deputy Chief, Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff, Russia's Defence Ministry (Russian): "The key priority of the Russian-US agreements of September 9 is dividing of territories, controlled by IS, Jabhat Al-Nusra and the moderate opposition, and the separation of the moderate opposition groups and Jabhat Al-Nusra. Without implementation of this provision, it would be impossible to provide the ceasefire regime."

SOT, Lieutenant General Viktor Poznikhir, Deputy Chief, Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff, Russia's Defence Ministry (Russian): "The Russian Federation applies every effort to keep the government forces from using military force in response. If the US side does not undertake respective measures to observe its obligations under the agreement of September 9, the responsibility for the ceasefire failing in Syria will be on the US."

S400 primed and ready, how else to respond? We all knew it was coming to this eventually. What is the US hoping for? That the World will rally behind them when Russia starts shooting US jets out of the sky over Syria because of self-protective intentions. The majority of the World and certainly the entire region of the Middle East will only cheer it on. I hope that Iraq will take note that the US bombed their 4+1 coalition ally in favor of their enemy, using their airspace and airfields. !! Everyone in Iraq hates the US, please just kick them out already.

If collecting evidence is Russia's goal about the US breaking ceasefire and supporting terrorists, at this rate soon the proof package will be ready. What then? I can only figure busy S400s, US coalition planes down __and__ a Russian No Fly Zone forbidding the US entry from a time point very near in the future.

Earlier

If the latest news out of Syria are confirmed, one can not only kiss last weekend's so-called "ceasefire" goodbye, but a full blown war may be about to erupt. The reason: moments ago the Syrian Army General Command reported, and shortly thereafter the Russian military confirmed, that US-coalition forces struck the Syrian airbase at Deir el-Zour, killing at least 62 Syrian army troops, "paving the way" for ISIS militants to advance in the fiercely contested area..

According to Syria’s official SANA news agency, the bombing took place on al-Tharda Mountain in the region of Deir ez-Zor and caused casualties and destruction on the ground.

Sixty-two Syrian soldiers were killed and over 100 injured in the airstrike by the US-led coalition, Russia’s Defense Ministry spokesman, Major-General Igor Konashenkov, confirmed citing information received from the Syrian General Command.

There was no immediate comment from Washington. If confirmed, the attack could be tantamount to an act of war as it would be the first time the coalition has targeted Syrian government forces. Subsequently, the Pentagon told RT that it is “aware of the reports and checking with Centcom and CJTF (Combined Joint Task Force)."

In a statement Saturday, the Syrian military says the airstrikes caused casualties and damage to equipment, and enabled an IS advance on the hill overlooking the air base. The statement calls it a "serious and blatant attack on Syria and its military" and "firm proof of the U.S. support of Daesh and other terrorist groups." Daesh is an Arabic acronym for IS.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday that the aircraft which carried out the bombings had entered Syrian airspace from the territory of Iraq. Four strikes against Syrian positions was performed by two F-16 jet fighters and two A-10 support aircraft, it added.

"Immediately after the airstrike by coalition planes, Islamic State militants launched their offensive. Fierce fighting with the terrorists is currently underway in the area of the airport where for a long a time humanitarian aid for civilians was parachuted,” Konashenkov said.

“If the airstrike was caused by the wrong coordinates of targets than it’s a direct consequence of the stubborn unwillingness of the American side to coordinate with Russia in its actions against terrorist groups in Syria,” Konashenkov stressed. Alternatively, the Syrians - and Russians - may claim that the US coalition attack meant to cripple Syrian army forces, taking the lethal conflict to an entirely new level, one where Syria and Russia are effectively at war with the US coalition.

Meanwhile, it appears that the Assad regime, which recently also garnered the support of Chinese military forces, is preparing for a full-blown escalation: the Syrian General Command has called the bombing a “serious and blatant aggression” against Syrian forces, and said it was "conclusive evidence" that the US and its allies support IS militants.

* * *

Earlier on Saturday, Russia accused the US of being reluctant to take measures to force rebels under its control to fall in line with the terms of the Syrian ceasefire. As RT reported, numerous Russian appeals to the American side remain unanswered, which “raises doubts over the US’s ability to influence opposition groups under their control and their willingness to further ensure the implementation of the Geneva agreements,” senior Russian General Staff official, Viktor Poznikhir, said. Poznikhir also said that the truce is being used by the militants to regroup, resupply and prepare an offensive against government troops.

Last week, Moscow and Washington agreed to influence the Syrian government and the so-called moderate rebel forces respectively in order to establish a ceasefire in the country "over pizza and vodka." We were skeptical, and for good reason: one week later it appears that not only is the ceasefire over but a whole new phase in the war may have broken out.

Russia has repeatedly alleged that the US is failing to keep its part of the bargain. The US, on its part, has blamed Russia for not pressuring Damascus enough to facilitate humanitarian access to Syria.

Both allegations may now be moot if Russia decides to retaliate against members of the US-led coalition, or directly against US forces.

BREAKING - Russia Wants Emergency UN Security Council Session on US Bombing of Syrian Army
https://sputniknews.com/news/20160917/1045419350/Russia-emergency-obama-airstrikes-syria.html

Russia convened an emergency UN Security Council Session on US-Led coalition airstrikes against the Syrian Army which Moscow fears will undermine the breakthrough ceasefire agreement that just went into effect earlier this week.

On Saturday, Russia convened an emergency session of the UN Security Council to discuss the US-led coalition airstrikes that the SANA news agency reports killed at least 80 Assad regime soldiers. The US admits that they inadvertently targeted the Syrian forces, but claim that in a statement by the US Central Command claim that they warned Russia prior to the bombing.

MORE TO COME.

Russia says that the situation in Syria is worsening finding that the rebels have intensified their attacks since the ceasefire came into force on September 12 and laying the blame at the feet of Washington for failing to crackdown on jihadists.

BREAKING - Russian Foreign Ministry: White House 'Defending the Islamic State' Terrorists
https://sputniknews.com/news/20160917/1045418962/russia-white-house-daesh-terrorists.html

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a scathing response to the Obama administration after a US Central Command statement suggested that the US-led coalition had warned Russia prior to the airstrikes against Syrian Army positions at Deir Ez-Zor that left some 62 Assad regime soldiers dead.

The statement by the Foreign ministry comes in the wake of accusations by Russia that the United States has not been dealing in good faith in the ceasefire agreement with Russian General Vladimir Savchenko saying that "the situation is worsening" with rebel forces escalating their attacks since the agreement went into force on September 12. "Russia is exterting all possible effort to restrain Government troops from returning fire," Senior Army General Viktor Poznikhir said.

The harsh response by Russia comes not only after the United States attempted to flip the blame on Moscow for the attack that killed 80 forces according to the SANA news agency, but also after reports that Daesh terrorists engaged in a major offensive right after the American airstrike crippled the Assad regime's forces.

The United States Central Command released a statement admitting that they hit Syrian Army positions, but claim that they did not intent to target Syrian servicemen in violation of the ceasefire agreement, but were instead targeting Daesh terrorists.

US Central Command Says Airstrike on Syrian Army Killing 80 Was an Accident
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160917/1045418270/coalition-airstrike-bombing-syrian-army.html

US military officials acknowledge responsibility for the bombing attack against Syrian Army positions that paved the way for a major Daesh offensive against Assad government forces and that killed 80 Syrian service personnel, but claimed that the attack was an accident with the intended target being Daesh terrorists.

The attack was conducted by two F-16 fighter jets and two A10 ground attack aircraft that came into Syrian airspace through the Iraqi border without authorization from the Assad government.

The Russian Ministry of Defense immediately blasted the United States for the lethal attack observing that Daesh engaged in a major offensive after American forces crippled the Assad regime's position. "If this airstrike was carried out due to an error in the coordinates of the targetm it is a direct consequence of US side's unwillingless to coordinate its actions against terrorist groups with Russia," the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman emphasized.

The attack came amid a ceasefire in Syria agreed upon by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry one week earlier and that came into effect on September 12. The attack threatens to undermine the delicate ceasefire agreement with the Syrian government concerned that it will provide Daesh terrorists an opportunity to regroup and that the rebels will not hold to the arrangement. Nonetheless, the attack also highlights the importance of the ceasefire deal and the need for the United States and Russia to coordinate on intelligence.

In the statement, Central Command says that "Coalition forces believed they were striking a Da'esh fighting position that they had been tracking for a significant amount of time before the strike. The coalition airstrike was halted immediately when coalition forces were informed by Russian officials that it was possible the personnel and vehicles targeted were part of the Syrian military."

The statement, provided in full below, goes on to imply that Russia is somehow to blame for the egregious accident that killed the 80 Syrian soldiers because the US claims that it "had earlier informed Russian counterparts of the upcoming strike."

Saturday's US-led coalition airstrike against Syrian government positions near city of Deir ez-Zor could jeopardize international efforts against Daesh(the Islamic State/IS) terrorist group, which have started gaining momentum, Samir Aita, a member of the Syrian Democratic Forum opposition party, told Sputnik.

US-Led Coalition Strike on Syrian Army 'Blows International Anti-Daesh Effort'
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160917/1045418448/us-led-coalition-blows-anti-daesh-effort.html

The attacks by the coalition planes near the Deir ez-Zor airport were first reported by the Syrian army on Saturday. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the attacks saying they killed 62 servicemen and injured 100 more.

"Deir ez-Zor is a major element in the fight against Daesh. This 'error' bombing of forces courageously fighting against the terrorists could blow the common international efforts which gained momentum against Daesh. It blows the hope to see it soon being eliminated," Aita said. The attack should push the United States and Russia to increase coordination efforts between their respective anti-IS campaigns in Syria, he added, stressing that more communication must take place between all sides.

"This "error" bombing should encourage the USA and Russia to enhance their collaboration, talking to all sides of the conflict. The USA to the Syrian army and Russia to opposition combating groups. This is the only way to eliminate terrorism and obtain peace, much more than a ceasefire," he said.

The Russian Defense Ministry said if the attacks were due to false coordination, this would prove Washington's refusal to coordinate anti-Daesh efforts with Moscow. According to the Syrian military terrorists launched an offensive against government troops near Deir ez-Zor in the wake of the coalition attack.

With this outrageous attack did they want to divert attention from Hillary's health scandal? So it will be forgotten and the recent attack on Syria must occupy minds and headlines? By "they" I mean the US gang tasked to make the Clintons spotless and able to continue.

A Russian defense ministry official says the situation is worsening in Syria as the ceasefire established there has been violated some 200 times since Monday. The Russian president has also accused foreign-backed militants in Syria of taking advantage of the truce deal to regroup.

Lavrov reiterates calls to the US side to publish the items of the Russian-US agreement
http://sana.sy/en/?p=88291
17 September، 2016
Moscow, SANA –
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated calls to the US side to publish the items of the Russian-US agreement about Syria and to inform the international community about the real situation in it.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Lavrov discussed with US State Secretary John Kerry during a phone call the implementation of the truce regime, noting that Lavrov pointed out to the efforts exerted by Moscow to coordinate the cooperation between the Syrian government and the United Nations to help the delivery of humanitarian aid to areas that need it.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov urged the American side to work in this direction and to put pressure on the militants who are subject to the influence of the United States.

He called on Washington to not limit its efforts to just making accusations, but to ensure the full participation of American military personnel in the mechanism of monitoring the commitment of ceasefire in Syria and to respond to violations.

Lavrov stressed the need to separate the so-called moderate opposition from the terrorist groups that continue fighting or to force it to commit to the truce regime, noting in this regard that what is happening is the opposite, since the terrorists are hiding among the ranks of the militants who are considered by Washington to be involved in the truce.

Earlier today, Lavrov and French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault discussed details of the Russian-US agreement on Syria in a phone call, Russia Today website reported on Saturday.

According to the website, that Ayrault expressed his country’s support to Russia’s stance which calls for disclosing the details of the Russian-US agreement.

Is it déjà vu all over again? Russia and the U.S. have brokered another ceasefire to stop hostilities in Syria. But can these two parties ensure their allies and proxies commit to the deal? Are the Pentagon and the State Department on the same page? And what about fighting terrorist groups?

At the request of Russia, the United Nations Security Council is set to convene at 7:30PM ET, only a matter of hours after a US-led airstrike killed 80 Syrian Army forces paving the way for a major Daesh offensive.

Emergency UN Security Council Meeting Set Hours After US Strike on Syrian Army
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160918/1045421397/russia-syria-airstrike-diplomacy-warfare.html

On Saturday evening the United Nations Security Council will meet to discuss airstrikes by the US-led coalition in Syria which Moscow says targeted and killed some 80 Syrian military personnel only days into the Syrian ceasefire brokered by the United States and Russia.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakhavrova said of the attacks, "If earlier we had suspicions that the Nusra Front is protected this way, now after today’s airstrikes on the Syrian army we come to a really terrifying conclusion for the entire world: the White House is defending IS (Islamic State or Daesh)."

The remarks by the Russian Foreign Ministry represent a sharp escalation in rhetoric between Russia and the United States following in the wake of a disturbing statement by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) saying that the bombing of Syrian forces was unintentional, but claiming that the United States had warned Russia about the attack – a position that Russia vehemently denies and sees as the Obama administration looking to off-put blame for the tragic incident.

Damascus has called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to condemn US-led coalition airstrikes on Syrian army, Syrian Foreign Ministry said Saturday.

The Syrian leadership has sent two letters to the UNSC with a demand to condemn airstrikes of the US-led coalition on the Syrian army positions in Deir ez-Zor suburbs.

"The Syrian leadership urging the UNSC to condemn US aggression and oblige America to refrain from similar actions and respect Syria's sovereignty," the statement said.

The US-led coalition in Syria used four aircraft and a combat drone to carry out Saturday's attack against Syrian government forces near Deir ez-Zor, the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria said Saturday.

The attacks by the coalition planes near the Deir ez-Zor airport were first reported by the Syrian army earlier on Saturday. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the attacks saying they killed 62 servicemen and injured 100 more. The attack was later confirmed by the US Central Command, which said that Syrian troops were mistaken for the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.

"Today, at 17:00, two US Air Force F-16 planes, two A-10 planes and an unmanned combat aerial vehicle carried out airstrikes on key Syrian army defense positions around six kilometers [3.7 miles] south of the Deir ez-Zor airport," reconciliation center head Vladimir Savchenko said.

The Russian operation commander contacted the Combined Joint Operations Center in Qatar after being notified by the Syrian side about the attack, he added, noting that the strikes then ended at 17:50.

"After the strikes, Islamic States fighters started an offensive in the area. Heavy fighting continues. From 19:00, Russian Aerospace Forces planes are supporting Syrian army units by striking IS targets. A total of 10 strikes have been carried," he said.

Daesh (IS) terrorist group fighters have mounted a heavy offensive against the Syrian army near a military airport in the city of Deir ez-Zor in the country's northeast, a military source told RIA Novosti Saturday.

Earlier in the day, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that the US-led coalition in Syria had carried out four attacks on Syrian government forces, killing 62 servicemen and injuring about 100.

"After the airstrikes, the terrorists started attacking army positions. It looked like air support. Heavy fighting is now ongoing," the source said.

The Operation Inherent Resolve press office previously declined to comment the issue, referring the question to the US Central Command. Earlier in the day, the coalition announced it carried out a strike against Daesh supply routes near the city.

The attacks by the coalition planes near the Deir ez-Zor airport were first reported by the Syrian army earlier on Saturday. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the attacks saying Daesh (the Islamic State/IS, banned in Russia) started an offensive following the attacks.

"The Syrian army has regained its positions which were lost following the US-led international coalition strike near the Deir ez-Zor airport," the source said.

The United States Ambassador to the United Nations took a truculent tone during the emergency meeting on Saturday accusing Russia of bombing civilians and blaming the Assad regime for the rise of ISIS calling the meeting "grandstanding," a "stunt," and a "game" after 80 Syrian Army forces were killed in a US-Led airstrike.

US Ambassador to UN: Emergency Meeting a 'Stunt,' Blasts Russia and Assad 'Game'
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160918/1045422315/samantha-power-obama-russia-syria.html

During the emergency UN Security Council meeting on Saturday called by Russia only hours after a US-led airstrike degraded Syrian Army positions leading to the death of some 80 soldiers and "paving the way" for a major Daesh offensive, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations refused to offer remorse but instead laid the blame for the crisis in Syria directly at the feet of the Russian Aerospace Forces who she says is "bombing civilians" and the Assad regime who she claims gave rise to Daesh.

"Why are we having this meeting tonight? It is a diversion from what is happening on the ground. If you don't like what is happening on the ground then you distract. It is a magician's trick… we encourage the Russian Federation to have emergency meetings with the Assad regime and deliver them to this deal," said an aggressive Samantha Power. "What Russia is alleging tonight is that somehow the United States is undermining the fighting against ISIL. The Russian spokesperson even said that the United States might be complicit in this attack… This is not a game," said the diplomat before going into details on the United States fight against the terror group.

"The Syrian regime that bills itself as the fighter against ISIL let the group grow and grow. ISIL took root and prospered right next to the Assad regime," said Power. "The best way to fight ISIL and al-Nusra Front is to stop bombing civilians and deliver the Assad regime. Assad's tactics have been a gift to terrorists. There is a better way forward, but Russia really needs to stop the cheap point scoring and grandstanding and focus on what matters. The implementation of something that we have negotiated in good faith with them."

"We regret the loss of life, but since 2011 Assad's regime have been striking Syrian civilians relentlessly," exclaimed the American diplomat in an attempt apparently to justify the violation of the ceasefire or to downplay the urgency of the meeting at hand. Some who watched the statements by Samantha Power described it as the US Ambassador to the United Nations blaming Assad for US warplanes bombing his forces. The verbal assault offered by Samantha Power looks to do little to quell growing tensions between the United States and Russia, the latter of which wonders if the ceasefire deal was negotiated in good faith after Syrian forces were decimated by American airstrikes on Saturday.

Russia also argues that the so-called "moderate" rebels, with whom the United States has aligned themselves with, have intensified rather than drawn back attacks since the ceasefire began on September 12. The Obama administration finds itself in a tricky predicament regarding the rebels who have outwardly aligned themselves with the al-Nusra Front terror group, formerly Syria's al-Qaida affiliate, under the umbrella group "The Army of Conquest."

An Obama administration official offered an official statement of regret for the loss of life caused by a US-led airstrike against Syrian Army positions in violation of a ceasefire -- an attack that led the Russian Foreign Ministry to wonder whether the White House is aiding Daesh.

White House Regrets 'Unintentional Loss of Life' after Bombing Syrian Forces
https://sputniknews.com/news/20160918/1045421812/obama-regrets-airstrike-syrian-army.html

The Obama administration offered a formal apology for the "unintentional loss of life" after an airstrike conducted against Syrian forces on Saturday killing at least 80 soldiers loyal to the Assad regime. The airstrike came only five days into the breakthrough ceasefire agreement between the United States and Russia that called for the two parties to coordinate strikes and for the Obama administration to levy more pressure against the so-called moderate rebels to disband from al-Nusra Front terrorists.

The attack was immediately condemned by both the Russian and Syrian Foreign Ministry, but the diplomatic row intensified after the US Central Command released a statement saying that while the airstrike was unintentional, they had previously notified Russia of the intent to strike. Russia vehemently denies the claim that they were notified that a strike was pending against the Syrian Army base in Deir Ez-Zor. In the statement, the White House also expressed a commitment to adhering to the ceasefire agreement despite the tragic airstrike. Speaking before the United Nations Security Council during an emergency meeting on Saturday, the United States Ambassador to the international body Samantha Power reiterated America's apology for the unintentional Syrian military deaths reiterating the word "regrets."

The first humanitarian convoy will head to eastern Aleppo on Sunday morning, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin told reporters after the urgent UN Security Council meeting.

The UN humanitarian aid will be delivered through "Castello" road, which connects the eastern and western parts of the city of Aleppo.

“A very complicated scheme was developed for Castello Road, so it could be used for humanitarian deliveries at first, and then, as other preparations are made, — it could be used for other traffic,” a Russian diplomat said after the UN Security Council meeting. "These preparations are ready, and the first convoy should go tomorrow morning," — Churkin told reporters.

Yeah, just caught up on the news - and this is clearly a turning point. I guess Vitaly Churkin's media interview clearly laid out all the points of the current situation, and the mask is finally off. The Empire's deep state obviously planned this attacks as a statement of intent and escalation. The question is,what next.

The US elections are around the corner; and Killary's health is failing; is this now their gambit for an escalation ? Im sure Russia won't fall for it; and Putin will have moves planned. I mean this is also give Russia, SAA and their allies, a good reason to say the ceasefire is off, and proceed to cleanse the country of these terrorists for ever without ever attempting diplomatic talks again. Syrian airspace can be secured by S400s - and this will then make the situation very intense, for I'm sure the Empire's deep state could then possibly "orchestrate" a shoot down of one of their jets to escalate and call for a wider US intervention.

All in all a very complex and tense situation; also think a threshold has been crossed...sigh! just some thoughts fwiw

Thinking about it shooting US planes out of the sky could be a dumb move just before the US elections. Russia is not the aggressor but the American public could take it differently and cling to Hillary with her ''Russia must be stopped'' rhetoric. And usually when you are provoked, they want you to react. Allthough sometimes you really have to.

There are several effective actions Russia could undertake first without downing US fighter jets.

Russia could give the US the same treatment they gave Turkey after the downing of the S24. The US is in full cooperation with ISIS, acting out as their supplier and Air force, using them as a card to remove those in power who are not wiling to bow for US imperialism.

Media outlets such as RT are wider and bigger in scale than their sad MSM nobody truly believes in anymore. Show the global population that the US uses chaos and terrorism against the World.

Inflict mortal damage on their public image. They won't recover from that.

The negotiations are over now. And they only served one-key purpose anyhow. To give the US the chance to take their loses and defeat ISIS together with Russia. Giving them a chance to end this conflict with their heads up high.

But that chance is gone now. Time to set the genie out of the bottle and expose the US as accomplices of terrorism.

Russian airstrikes propel the Syrian Army to recapture lost points in Deir Ezzor

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/russian-airstrikes-propel-syrian-army-recapture-lost-points-deir-ezzor/

The Syrian Arab Army's 137th Artillery Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division, backed by the Qassem Units (Special Forces), launched a counter-attack tonight to recapture the points they lost to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in western Deir Ezzor after the U.S. bombed the government's positions at Jabal Thardeh.

According to a military source from the Qassem Units, the Syrian Armed Forces managed to recapture almost every point lost to the Islamic State militants at Jabal Thardeh tonight.

The Syrian Armed Forces were able to recapture these points after the Russian Air Force hammered the Islamic State's defenses near Tal Kroum, paving the way for them to seize the aforementioned hilltop.

Clashes are still raging tonight, as the Syrian Armed Forces attempt to recover the territory they lost as a result of the U.S. airstrikes on Jabal Thardeh.

Meanwhile, an unnamed U.S. Official as expressed "regret" for the airstrikes.

"Australian aircraft were among a number of international aircraft taking part in this Coalition operation," the Defence Department said in a statement.

Australian jets participated in massacre of Syrian soldiers in Deir Ezzor

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/australian-jets-participated-massacre-syrian-soldiers-deir-ezzor/

Australia's Defense Department have admitted that its jets have participated in an airstrike against Syrian Army positions near Deir Ezzor that left tens dead.

Australia has offered its condolences to the victims of the soldiers families and has announced it will fully cooperate in the review of the incident.

"Australian aircraft were among a number of international aircraft taking part in this Coalition operation," the Defence Department said in a statement.

"Australia would never intentionally target a known Syrian military unit or actively support Daesh (ISIS). Defence offers its condolences to the families of any Syrian personnel killed or wounded in this incident."

So blatant was the airstrike against the Syrian Army that even anti-Assad mainstream media in Australia have suggested that the airstrikes purposefully attacked their positions, supporting Russia's claim.

Australia is one of many countries participating in the illegal US-led Coalition airstrikes in Syria that are without coordination with Damascus.

Sure, just like their big brother. Take note that they actually said: ''or actively support Daesh (ISIS)''

It's a sentence you rather not use unless forced to clarify on the issue.

I suspect that Russia is going to blown this wide open. The role of western proxy terrorism is about to be revealed. There is no reason to hold back anymore, The West will not take it's loses and work towards peace with Russia, well in that case, no reason to pretend anymore. US airforce coalition = ISIS airforce.

Question: Mr President, you have not said anything about the progress made in implementing agreements between Russia and the United States regarding Syria. President Obama stated several times and, particularly, yesterday he said that Russia is not fulfilling them and because of that, the United States would not cooperate with Russia. However, at the same time, the US is totally opposed to making these agreements public. How would you comment on this, what is your opinion about this?

Vladimir Putin: Our US partners have always stood for openness and transparency. There is nothing surprising for me that in this case they proceed from their postulate. I can tell you why: this has to do with the difficulties that the United States is facing on the Syrian track. The difficulty is that they can in no way separate the so-called “healthy” part of the opposition from the semi-criminal and terrorist elements.

In my opinion, this is dictated by the desire to preserve the military potential in the fight against the lawful government of President Assad. However, this is a slippery slope; we have often spoken about this. Our US partners seem to be again falling into the same trap they have fallen into so many times. This is a dangerous scenario.

As for Russia, it meets its obligations in full. Moreover, we have reached agreements with President Assad and the Syrian Government. As we see it, the Syrian forces are implementing these agreements in full. As for making the agreements public, well, perhaps they do not want to do this because it will become clear to the international community, as well as to the American and Russian people who is not fulfilling which obligations.

We agreed that Jabhat al-Nusra and others of their ilk have to be separated and it has been shown where they are and where these so-called “healthy” forces are. What do we see now? We see no separation of terrorists from this “healthy” part of the opposition, instead we see these terrorists making attempts to regroup, replace one set of signboards with another, replace one name with another and preserve their military potential. This is what we see.

This is regrettable but I proceed from the notion that we share the determination to reach peace in Syria and the common task of fighting terrorism, international terrorism. This is, truly, a common task. And, without a doubt, everybody understands this, including our US partners who, I will admit, face quite a difficult task of separating the opposition from the terrorists.

I would like us to be honest with each other and only in this case we will be able to move in the direction of achieving common goals. I do not understand why we need to make any agreements secret. However, we, of course, we will not be disclosing any details until our US partners consent to so, due to specific agreements, which are usually reached diplomatically when working with issues like the Syrian settlement.

I would like to reiterate that we feel more positive than negative about this and we expect that the promises made by the US administration will be kept.

US Coalition Strike on Syrian Army: 'Revenge of the War Hawks' Amid Ceasefire
https://sputniknews.com/politics/20160918/1045435102/us-airstrike-syrian-army.html
American airstrikes against the Syrian Army may be an attempt by war hawks to get revenge for the agreement between Russia and the United States on Syria, a member of the Russian Senate suggested.
According to analyst Alexander Nesmiyan, the attack was a warning.

"It was a clear warning from the Americans. They’re sending a signal that both the Syrian Army and Daesh are their enemies," Nesmiyan assume

"It is also a signal to Russia from Washington. The Russian Defense Ministry has accused the US of not observing the closed provisions of the agreement. The US wants to show that if Russia accepted an agreement with closed provisions Washington will not make excuses for breaching them," he said.

In an interview with RT, political analyst Anton Khashchenko suggested that the attack may be a provocation.
