G20 Summit: For the first time the West couldn't dictate, but had to listen
http://katehon.com/article/g20-summit-first-time-west-couldnt-dictate-had-listen

China has spent months, organizing the G20 Summit in Guangzhou. They had their own ideas and it was a sort of coming out for Chinese, showing to the international community that they are a real global power politically and economically.

Even before the start of the Summit, President Xi Jinping was trying to discuss the trend of backlash against globalization and against economic integration. Chinese have a complete different view on how economic relations in the world should be practiced. For the previous period of globalization, they have profited in many things: foreign investments, exporting all over the world. China developed so much and so fast, that now it can also be a part of rulers that will govern the global economy. This is what they wanted to explain to other nations, especially to the Western countries.

Chinese globalization is directed towards IT-technologies and electronic platforms. Everybody all across Eurasia is involved in a new Silk Road: South-East Asia, East Asia, Central Asia, South-West Asia, which includes Kazakhstan and Turkey, and of course, Russia. One of a part of the new Silk Road includes Trans-Siberian Railway, which involves Russia directly. Also, closer integration of Russia and South-China evolves all of them. Moscow and St. Petersburg will be platforms to Asian-European communication. It is the only long-term wide-ranged economic project in the world right now. Nothing else could even compare with it. This is the next big thing for the next twenty years at least. The West has nothing to offer. The Europeans are stagnated; they are living in the atmosphere of fear and paranoia, fighting with Islam, when it is not a real Islam, but ultra-radical minority actually. The US is a mess, whenever who will become President.

At G20 the Eurasian integration was discussed under Chinese terms. More integration between West and Asia, more voice into international institutions. China was also talking about WTO. They want the expansion of the global economy to work inside the mechanism of the WTO and they don’t like what US is trying to do right now. The US is trying to change geopolitics with the TTIP agreement, they want to control the trade between US and Europe and the trade between US and Asia, bypassing China and bypassing Russia. They are forgetting that Russia and China now have a strategic partnership; they are both implicated in more convergence between Europe and Asia.

If we look at the body language of G20, we can see how Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping are very well with each other, and see the difference with the Western leaders. That is because they know that the West has nothing to offer. China wants to be more or less the leader of the developing world. As the second largest economic power in the world it turns towards more convergent globally, starting with integration between Asia and Europe that benefits a lot of developing countries.

This G20 Summit is very important because the West, maybe for the first time went there to listen, not to dictate anything.

One of the political questions, which were discussed, was about Syria. Putin and Obama met face-to face for an hour and a half, which is long. Before, there was a four-hour discussion between the two delegations and there also had been a meeting between Kerry and Lavrov.

It is impossible, even with so many hour, to find a solution for Syria, especially in the middle of such a complex Summit. They hadn’t found the solution for months of negotiations. The Obama administration doesn’t know what to do with Syria anymore. There are only three months left for Obama as a President. The real decisions will be taken by the next US President. The margin of maneuver of Obama is very lucrative because Americans don’t even agree among themselves. We have this CIA battling with Pentagon in Syria. They are fighting among themselves. They don’t know anymore which groups they are supporting, because the groups they used to “defend” don’t exist anymore. Al-Nusra was defended by Washington but now they finally discovered that Al-Nusra is dangerous, that it is Al-Qaeida. Also, there are Kurds. They are supported by the Americans, they are supported by the Russians, but the Turks are fighting against them. Now we have Turkey invading northern Syria. And Erdogan is at the G20, trying to sell the idea of so-called “safe” zone in northern Syria, so he could repatriate some Syrian refugees, who are now in Turkey. It looks like nobody is takins Syria as a sovereign state. They should be asking Damascus about it at first, not Washington or Moscow. It’s is getting more and more crazy. We have a lot of players who are fighting among themselves and against each other. It is very complex.

To find a consensus, something should be done. Syria should remain as unified country; everybody has to fight against the same enemy which is Islamic State and jihadists. Only after these steps the political process could be started. But America is trying to establish a political process at first: Asad stays for the next few months and then we get everybody together, Assad goes away and we have elections. But it doesn’t work like this. First the war on the ground has to be finished. It is impossible to solve all this in two or three hours of negotiations in China.

Russian Intercept of US Spy Plane Performed Safely - Russian Ministry of Defense

https://sputniknews.com/news/20160907/1045069102/russia-jet-intercept-us.html

Russian planes performed in strict adherence to international flight safety, according to the official statement of the Russian Defense Ministry.

Russia had to scramble Crimea-based Su-27 fighter jets on Wednesday to intercept US spy planes making attempts to approach the Russian airspace over the Black Sea while flying with switched-off transponders, the Defense Ministry said.

Earlier in the day, the Pentagon said a Russian SU-27 jet made "an unsafe close-range intercept" of a US Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft over the Black Sea.

"On September 7, 2016, US Navy P8 Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft made two attempts to approach the Russian airspace over the Black Sea while flying with switched-off transponders. Su-27 fighter jets were scrambled from the Belbek airbase [in Crimea]," ministry's spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said in a statement.

"The Russian pilots performed in strict adherence to international flight regulations," Konashenkov stressed.

The spokesman added that it was not the first attempt by NATO planes to approach the Russian airspace to spy after the 'Caucasus-2016' strategic exercises, which will be held in September on the territory of Russia's Southern Military District.

Arab media outlets reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has accepted China's invitation to visit Beijing in the next few weeks.

Syrian President Assad Likely to Visit China Soon
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950617001213

According to al-Safir newspaper, China has demanded Syria to allow the country's fighter jets use Tartus airbase, a port city in the Mediterranean coasts, and sent Director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of China's Central Military Commission, Guan Youfei to Syria on August 16 to discuss the issue with the Syrian officials.

During the first three years of war in Syria, the Chinese showed conservatism in signing arms deals with Damascus but in the past one and a half years, they have shown more willingness to implements their military agreements with Syria.

The report came after media sources disclosed last month that a Chinese military delegation in a visit to Damascus explored avenues for the dispatch of a number of warplanes to Syria to intensify war on terrorism in the Middle-Eastern country.

"In a surprising visit, a Chinese military delegation conferred with Syrian Defense Minister Fahad Jassim al-Freij over engagement of Chinese fighter jets in the bombardment of terrorist groups' positions in Syria, mainly in Aleppo," Debka file quoted a military analyst as saying.

"Chinese jets may launch bombing of positions of Jeish al-Islami al-Turkistani with over 3,000 Uighur fighter," the analyst quoted senior spy officers of the US intelligence as saying.

Also in August, Beijing and Damascus agreed that the Chinese military to provide humanitarian aid to Syria, a high-ranking People's Liberation Army officer said, adding that the training of Syrian personnel by Chinese instructors was also been discussed.

Guan arrived in Damascus for talks with al-Freij.

During the negotiation, Guan noted China’s consistent diplomatic efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, adding that Beijing is now seeking closer military ties with Damascus.

"The Chinese and Syrian militaries traditionally have a friendly relationship, and the Chinese military is willing to keep strengthening exchanges and cooperation with the Syrian military," he said.

Arab media outlets claimed that Commander of Iran's IRGC Qods Force Major General Qassem Suleimani is in Southern Aleppo in order to discuss an upcoming large-scale offensive with his counterparts in the Syrian Army.

Media: Iranian, Syrian Commanders Meet to Discuss Upcoming Aleppo Offensive
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950617001285

Al-Masdar said in report that General Suleimani has had a number of meetings with high-ranking Syrian army officials and commanders on Tuesday, including Major Duraid Abu ‘Ammar of the Syrian Army’s “Tiger Forces”.

Major Abu ‘Ammar is among the highest ranking officers in the Tiger Forces and one of Colonel Suheil Al-Hassan’s (leader of the Tiger Forces) most trusted commanders.

"According to a military source in the Aleppo Governorate, the Tiger Forces commander and the Iranian general discussed the upcoming offensive’s battle plans," said the report.

For the first time in this war, the commanders of the Tiger Forces and Iranian military advisors are coordinating a wide-scale offensive in Aleppo province that is geared to retake a large chunk of territory from the jihadist rebels.

While several Syrian Army units fight alongside Hezbollah and Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary), the Tiger Forces were one of the few that did not directly coordinate with the latter.

No official date has been set for this Southern Aleppo offensive; however, it is expected to start in the coming weeks, as the Tiger Forces and Republican Guard conclude their operations near Al-Ramouseh, said the report.

Iraqi Popular Forces from Hezbollah al-Nujaba Movement have sent another thousand of fresh fighters to Syria as the bloody battle of Aleppo has entered a sensitive stage.

Report: Iraqi Popular Forces Send 1,000 More Troops to Syria's Aleppo

Official Spokesman of Harakat al Nujaba Hashem al Musavi told the Arabic-language website of Reuters that the popular forces have dispatched one thousand military troops to Southern Aleppo in the past 48 hours.

The spokesman said that the Iraqi popular forces, the Syrian Army and the Lebanese Hezbollah fighters are in combat against the terrorist groups in Eastern and Southern Aleppo, adding that the al-Nujaba Movement has contributed a role to the recapturing of newly-liberated regions in Southern Aleppo.

The latest reports from Northern Syria said on Wednesday that the country's army and popular forces, backed by Syrian and Russian warplanes, continue advance in Aleppo province, forcing the terrorists to push back from several strategic territories, military bases and vital supply routes.

Israeli war planes have bombed Syrian army positions in Syria’s Golan Heights for the second time in less than a week.

The Israeli military said in a statement that the attack was carried out against Syrian army mortar launchers in the early hours of Thursday morning shortly after a stray mortar shell hit an area in the Israeli-occupied side of the Golan Heights.

No casualties were reported as a result of the shelling.

On Sunday, Tel Aviv released a statement claiming that it had struck Syrian "cannons" during an airstrike in Syria’s Golan Heights after "mortar fire" hit an unpopulated area.

Israel has targeted the region several times in recent years.

The UK Ministry of Defense was accused of effectively handing ISIL terrorist group a “target list” since posting the names of 20,000 British soldiers and potential recruits online.

British Military Handed ISIL ‘Target List’ of 20,000 UK Soldiers
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950617000937

The British Government website, as well as the sites of the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, all contain various versions of the list, which was published this week, RT reported.

The exposed information includes the details of regular officers, reservist officers, university trainees, and adult volunteers that were serving in the British military in 2015, many of whom still will be.

Former reservist Major Chris Green, who has left the force, but is detailed in the list, told The Times: “This is a serious security threat when ISIL and other groups are looking to target individuals.

“It is actually a pretty terrifying error. They are putting national security at risk in many ways.”

One serviceman named on the list told the Express: “They’ve basically provided a target list for ISIL.”

An unnamed senior officer added: “I think it is quite risky. I do not know why they have done it.”

The information gaff comes as military personnel are being told to keep their jobs off social media to try to minimize the likelihood of being identified by terrorists.

Members of the Armed Forces are also advised not to wear their uniforms when out and about.

The dangers posed to service personnel were made clear with the murder of Lee Rigby, a soldier who was killed near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, London, in 2013.

In addition, a Royal Air Force (RAF) serviceman was the target of a suspected attempted abduction near RAF Marham in Norfolk in July.

British Ministry of Defense officials are considering deleting the lists, as a ministry's spokesperson said: “The security of our people is our foremost concern and we keep measures to address the threats to them under constant review.”

On Wednesday, nearly 15 years after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, Thomas Kean, once co-chairman of the 9/11 Commission, admitted during a conference call that the US has not reached any significant advance in its fight against terror.

15 Years and Billions of Dollars: US ‘at a Stalemate’ in its War on Terror
https://sputniknews.com/us/20160908/1045074849/usa-antiterror-little-success.html

"We're not winning; we're simply at a stalemate," Kean said.

Although there have not been major attacks similar to 9/11, there have been many smaller attacks, he acknowledged. "Around the world, the situation is probably even more dangerous than it was on 9/11," he opined.

In 2001, the Bush Administration created the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which has spent billions of dollars on its anti-terror policies. But those expenditures have only managed to replace one fumbling bureaucracy with another, Kean and 9/11 Commission co-chair former Rep. Lee Hamilton suggest, according to the Hill.

Hamilton said that the DHS must improve their actions and do something "with a great deal of robust implementation. We don't want to go another 15 years before we get our strategy right." The 9/11 Commission named several areas prone to security breaches. Among them are bureaucratic oversight that impedes efficient intelligence agency communications. "And until the Congress decides that it's going to have a single oversight committee for homeland security, and not this panoply of 94 different committees, that's not oversight, that's a total lack of oversight," Kean said.

Hopefully a squadron of Russian SU30 fighter jets will escort the airplane of Assad again.

But this is exiting to hear !! Russia already showed the West that Syria will be the last country they will destroy. If China joins the fray. The World will notice that not everyone is afraid of NATO !! More countries around the globe my decide to take a stance.

New ship-to-air missile system to be built in Russia — Almaz-Antey

http://tass.com/defense/898688

Performance specifications for construction of an air defense system for surface ships protection is currently being prepared, Almaz-Antey spokesman has announced

Russia’s Navy is developing performance specifications for construction of a new ship-to-air missile system, a spokesman for the Almaz-Antey defense concern told journalists on Thursday at the Army-2016 forum.

"The Research Institute of Shipbuilding and Armament of the Navy is currently preparing performance specifications for construction of an air defense system to protect surface ships, in line with an instruction from the Chief Command of the Navy," the spokesman said.

Earlier, Almaz-Antey said the Navy is interested in an opportunity to build a naval version of the Tor air defense missile system to replace the outdated Kinzhal and Osa systems. The concern said the new modification may be ready in 2018-2019.

Russia starts developing 5th-generation medium-range air defense missile systems

http://tass.com/defense/898726

The new system’s target acquisition and destruction area will be expanded, it will have increased jamming resistance and endurance capabilities

Russia’s weapons manufacturer Almaz-Antey Concern has started the development of the fifth-generation medium-range air defense missile system, a company official told journalists on Thursday at the Army 2016 Forum.

"Almaz-Antey starts the research and development activities (R&D) to create the fifth-generation medium-range air defense missile systems. The R&D efforts will be conducted on the base of JSC Tikhomirov Scientific Research Institute of Instrument Design, which is the leading developer of the air defense missile systems of the Buk family," the company representative said.

"The fifth-generation medium-range air defense missile system will have a deep integration with the single layered air defense system and support of the network-centric control system," he added.

In addition, the new system’s target acquisition and destruction area will be expanded, it will also have increased jamming resistance and endurance capabilities, also through the application of automation and robotics.

This summer, Almaz-Antey has successfully tested the fourth-generation Buk-M3 missile system. According to the company press service, thanks to a new missile, the system almost two times surpasses in characteristics the previous models and has no analogues in the world. In addition, the company sources said, the missile’s lower mass has made it possible to 1.5 times increase the ammunition load.

"The new missile has a significantly lower weight. This has increased the missile system vehicle’s on-board ammunition capacity 1.5 times. The new system’s missiles are carried in containers and launched from them", Almaz-Antey said then. Head of the Russian Air Defense Forces Alexander Leonov said previously that "a unique new missile" was created for the Buk-M3 version. A new cutting-edge missile has been created for the Buk-M3 medium-range air defense missile system, he said. "The self-propelled system’s transport and firing boxes are designed to hold six missiles. Missiles are more compact but are more precise and capable of flying longer distances. So, it can be called a new unique missile capable of efficiently hitting air targets," he said. He said the capacity of the new missile system had been boosted by 1.5 times as it is capable of holding six missiles instead of four.

Earlier, a Russian defense source told TASS the Buk-M3 missile systems would be included into the Russia army’ inventory before the end of 2016 and would arrive to the army starting from 2016. The Buk-M3 system is superior to the S-300 air defense missile system by a number of characteristics, including the kill probability. The Buk-M3 system has a range of 70 kilometers (43.5 miles), which is 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) more compared to previous versions of the Buk antiaircraft missile system. The Buk-M3 has a maximum firing altitude of 35 kilometers (21.7 miles). Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said previously there were plans to make operational the first brigade set of the new Buk system in 2016.

Iranian Security Forces Disband Saudi-Affiliated Terrorist Cell

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950618000237

The terrorist team which was equipped with light and semi-heavy weapons and intended to carryout sabotage acts inside Iran was disbanded in the Western bordering areas of Sardasht city on Wednesday night through cooperation with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) forces.

Reports said earlier on Wednesday that ten terrorists of the outlawed Democrat Party were also killed in armed clashes with the Iranian border guards in the Western province of Kurdistan.

The terrorists who were trying to sneak into the country through the Western Iranian borders in the village of Baneh and Khalfi in Sardasht region, sought to foment insecurity in Iran's Kurdistan province.

Based on the latest information, 10 terrorists of the outlawed group were killed during the clashes which started on Tuesday night and lasted for several hours.

Early July, the IRGC forces had also disbanded an anti-revolutionary cell in Western Iran which plotted to sneak into the country for sabotage acts, killing all its 11 members.

"An 11-member anti-revolutionary group affiliated to the outlawed Democrat Party sought to enter Iran but the intelligence officials of Kurdistan (province)'s IRGC force monitored them since the very first moment," Commander of Kurdistan's IRGC force Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Rajabi told FNA at the time.

Noting that the IRGC forces blocked the group's move towards their destination and pushed them towards Kouhsalan district of Sarvabad region after 10 days of tracing, he said, "It was there that our forces killed all the 11 members of the team."

Three local IRGC forces were also killed in clashes with the outlawed group.

IRGC Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour announced at the time that Kaveh Javanmard, a commander of the anti-revolutionary group, was killed in the Western parts of Iran.

Lavrov, Kerry hold phone conversation to discuss cooperation on Syria

http://tass.com/politics/898706

The conversation was initiated by the American side

MOSCOW, September 8. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry have held a telephone conversation to continue the discussion of the possibilities of Russia-US interaction for defeating the terrorist groups operating in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday, adding that the conversation was initiated by the American side.

"Based on the understanding in principle reached by the presidents of Russia and the United States at their meeting in Hangzhou on September 5, the sides continued to discuss the possibilities of Russian-American cooperation in the interests of defeating the terrorist groups acting in Syrian territory, assistance to the settlement of humanitarian problems and promoting the Syrian conflict’s political settlement," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

During a telephone conversation held on Wednesday, Lavrov and Kerry agreed to hold talks in Geneva on September 8 and 9.

"Under instructions from the Russian and US presidents after their September 5 conversation on the sidelines of the G20 summit, the two top diplomats discussed the remaining details of the agreements on establishing the Russian-US cooperation in the fight against terrorist groups operating in Syria, expanding humanitarian access and launching the intra-Syrian political process," the ministry said. "(They) agreed to continue the discussion in the course of a personal Lavrov-Kerry meeting in Geneva on September 8-9," the ministry said on Wednesday. The two officials intend to discuss the details of a possible agreement on Syria that includes, in particular, military coordination in the fight against terrorism, a ceasefire and issues of humanitarian access around Aleppo.

Earlier on Wednesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov did not rule out that UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura might join the talks. He also noted that the resumption of the intra-Syrian negotiations would depend on the course of the Russian-US diplomatic contacts.

Lavrov and Kerry held brief talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit held in China’s Hangzhou on September 4-5. Efforts to hammer out an agreement on coordination in the fight against terrorists in Syria topped the agenda of the meeting.

ISIL Withdraws from Al-Bab City in Aleppo

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950618000795

“Dozens of ISIL military vehicles have left al-Bab carrying weapons and militants. They headed to the nearby town of Khafsa East of al-Bab city,” local media activist Nasim Babi told ARA News.

Informed sources in al-Bab reported that major ISIL headquarters in the city were seen empty on Thursday.

The evacuated ISIL headquarters in al-Bab included the Sharia Court, al-Hisba police department, jihadi training camps and weapons’ storage centers.

This comes as the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continued their advance towards the al-Bab city in Northern Aleppo. Also, the Turkish-backed rebels of the Euphrates Shield Brigades announced readiness to fight against the ISIL in al-Bab and other areas in northern Syria.

“ISIL has been under heavy pressure in al-Bab. The decision to evacuate their headquarters comes after the SDF forces made further advance towards the key city after retaking Manbij from the radical group,” SDF officer Habun Osman said.

In the meantime, activists said that clashes may erupt between the SDF and Turkish-backed rebels if both forces tried to storm the city of al-Bab after ISIL departure.

Fatah Al-Sham Base, Military Vehicles Smashed in Idlib

Two other terrorists of Jund al-Aqsa, including Abu Satif's brother Abu Ebrahim, were also killed along with Abu Satif.

Abu Satif was the commander of Jund al-Aqsa's military operations in the countryside of the city of Hama.

Eight other terrorists from both sides were also injured in the heavy infighting.

The clashes between Jund al-Aqsa and Ahrar al-Sham terrorists also spread to Jabal al-Zawiya region.

Israeli PM, Palestinian president agree to meet for talks in Moscow: Russia

http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2016/09/08/483764/Russia-Moscow-Zakharova--Palestine-Israel-Zakharova-Abbas-Netanyahu

Russian Foreign Ministry has announced that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have agreed "in principle" to meet in Moscow as Russia hopes for the revival of the so-called peace talks.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that Moscow had heard from the offices of the Palestinian president and the Israeli premier that the pair agreed to meet in the Russian capital, Moscow, but added that it was not clear when the meeting would take place.

"The most important thing is to pick the right timing," Zakharova said, adding, "Intensive contacts on this are ongoing."

On Tuesday, Abbas said during a visit to Poland that a Russian-proposed meeting with the Israeli prime minister had been delayed.

Abbas added that he had agreed to a proposal by Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet Netanyahu in Moscow on September 9 and planned to travel to the Russian capital directly from Warsaw.

This came after Abdel Hafiz Nofal, the Palestinian ambassador to Moscow, said that Abbas had accepted the Russian initiative for a meeting with Netanyahu, noting, however, that “the Israelis are evading the requirements of the meeting.”

Netanyahu's office also said in a statement on Monday that Putin's Middle East envoy Mikhail Bogdanov had discussed the proposal with the Israeli premier in East Jerusalem al-Quds.

Palestinian leaders earlier had rejected the idea of open-ended talks with Israel, saying any future negotiations with the Tel Aviv regime should have a time cap.

The latest round of the so-called peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians, which was organized by the United States, collapsed in 2014.

Tel Aviv’s illegal settlement activities in the occupied lands and its refusal to release senior Palestinian prisoners were among major reasons behind the failure of the talks.

Israel’s defiance of international calls for pulling out of the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds is viewed as a major reason behind the failure of previous initiatives.

The developments also come as occupied territories have been witnessing new tensions ever since Israeli forces introduced restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem al-Quds in August 2015.

At least 236 Palestinians have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces in the tensions since the beginning of last October.

The war taking place today in Syria is, perhaps, a new kind of war in terms of the means used, its scope, and the type and huge number of parties participating in the war. Each party claims to be defending Syrians and Syrians’ rights to such an extent that the casual observer might not be able to distinguish right from wrong or the oppressor from the oppressed. One has to examine the values and behaviors of each party to recognize who is defending his homeland from those who have come from abroad to implement their foreign agendas on Syrian soil.

Is the Syrian war Forging a New Alliance Against NATO?
http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/09/is-syrian-war-forging-new-alliance.html

The Syrian army and its allies are fighting terrorists from all over the world who came to Syria with the support of the American alliance, which claims to be defending human rights and fighting in Syria in “defense” of the Syrian people. These terrorists have been brought to Syria from prisons around the world to defend a “revolution of fairness and justice” that beheads and murders innocent people, and which has dragged on the killing and destruction in Syria for more than five years.

Despite the clarity of this picture for us Syrians, there are still those who claim that there is a real Syrian revolution and that a moderate opposition is present.

But the war in Syria is no longer a war between Syrians. It has become a war between two axes,
one of which is the American-Western axis desiring to destroy Syria because of Syria’s position standing in the way of achieving their geopolitical aims. Syria was a radiating cultural center of coexistence and harmony between different faiths, and was a center of resistance against US-Israeli projects in the region.

Last year's battles in Syria showed the huge ambition and desire of the Americans and their regional agents to support terrorist groups, as well as it demonstrated their high capability of bringing more and more of these vipers and providing them with armaments and other material support.

Our alliance came to the conclusion that the Syrian army alone, without the support of allies, could suffer a big loss for our alliance as a whole, which rejects the unipolar hegemony led by the savage new liberalism that terrorizes anyone not going along with the American plan. Perhaps the US interventions in Syria and Ukraine were the most important events that demonstrated this American scheme in the current decade. The American failure in Ukraine could lay the groundwork for the failure of the European Union (Brexit is an example), because the EU project itself was founded mainly to fill the space resulting from the breakup of the Soviet Union, and to control all the states surrounding Russia as US assets to be invested in against Russia when the need arises. The American failure in Syria has undermined the formation of a new Ottoman Empire which has been planned as a parallel project to the European Union in the Islamic world led by the Muslim Brotherhood. Such was meant to be used as another American tool serving American, Western, and Israeli interests against Russia and the axis of resistance.

The allied, defensive military intervention in the Syrian war occurred in two stages. The first stage of intervention was initiated by the resisting axis (Hezbollah, Iran and Syria), as the war in Syria indeed appears to be a direct war against all of them together, especially since the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon which demonstrated Hezbollah’s capacity to hold its positions and change the rules of the game in the region. Israel and its allies knew that there was no chance of achieving a decisive military operation against Hezbollah. Thus, they devised other plans for hitting the axis of resistance and fragmenting it - such was the aim of bringing all these vipers to Syria and guaranteeing them unlimited support.

The multipolar axis entered the war (the second stage of intervention) when they had seen and recognized the international nature of the Syrian war and its influence on the geopolitical future of the world. In addition, it was clear that the US attack on Syria, just like on Ukraine, was a planned war against the multipolar axis, and that the loss of any of these countries would be a loss for the entire axis.

Thus, the Russian intervention in September 2015 was launched to eliminate these risks and to help the Syrian army defend its strategic sites. This Russian intervention prevented the unipolar axis from winning the war in Syria.

But the battle for Syria is still ongoing because of the tremendous support that the terrorists have received from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar in addition to their unlimited support from the United States and its Western allies.

Last month’s fighting in Aleppo showed the desperation of the American axis to break the siege imposed by the Syrian army and its allies on nearly ten thousand armed terrorists in the city of Aleppo. They sent thousands of new terrorists supported by the latest types of weapons and all sorts of security and logistical support, so they managed to achieve some gains and occupy some points in the south and west of Aleppo. But they could not achieve all of their objectives because of the fierce resistance put up by the Syrian army and its allies.

The battles in Aleppo have shown that Russian aircraft in Khmeimim cannot cover all of Syria or completely prevent the flow of terrorists in large quantities, especially when the flow of terrorists is happening from Idlib to Aleppo (due to the short distance between them). These battles also showed that the hostile axis in the Syria war is desperately fighting to preserve Aleppo for the sake of keeping their foothold in Syria. For them, further killing and destruction in Syria is a goal in itself, hence why they are trying to prolong the war to achieve their gains.

The Russian Federation’s response to new demands was fast, and heavy Russian bombers began striking different terrorist targets using the Hamadan airfield in Iran, which can be considered a new era in Russian-Iranian cooperation.

On August 16th, 2016, a large military delegation from China led by Admiral Guan Youfei, director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of China's Central Military Commission, visited Damascus and met Fahad Jassim al-Freij, the Syrian Defense Minister, to step up military cooperation between the two countries. The importance of this visit is the emergence of a new, undeclared alliance as a result of the Syrian war.

It seems to be clear through the strategic cooperation between Russia, Iran, Syria and China that this alliance refuses the lies of the color revolutions in Ukraine, Syria and other countries. This new alliance has drawn a new red line depending on new values and especially depending on international law, thereby rejecting the double-standards used in solving international crises when the US and other Western countries are allowed to continue their old behavior from the last decade of the previous century.

The Syrian war has heralded the emergence of a new era, and might be forging a new alliance facing down NATO in the near future.

It is reported that the Chinese Communist leader, Mao Tse Tung, once said, “All wars eventually end with negotiated settlements.”

The Tragedy That Has Become Syria
http://katehon.com/article/tragedy-has-become-syria

While this may be true in most conflicts, five years into NATO’s brutal imposed war on Syria – and I refuse to call it, “The Syrian Civil War” – it appears that this dirty war on Syria will be unfortunately settled on the battlefield. All indicators are pointing to this geo-strategic bitter reality, so bitter and dangerous that it could lead the world into a major showdown – apocalypse style!

All manners of international laws have been broken, but powerful nations whose usual, empty, hypocritical slogans of “democracy”, “human rights”, and my most favorite cop-out phrase of all time, the “international community”, continue to enjoy impunity for their crimes. So far we have no reason to expect they will be prosecuted.

The credibly-accused imperialist rogue nations responsible for war crimes against countries such as Iraq, Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, and now Syria, will not be prosecuted. Or so it appears.

Needless to say, they very much have been convicted in the court of public opinion by the true international community of nations, not just a handful of Rothschild-owned and operated rogue states which in their most ethnocentric arrogance usually only consider themselves [as wells as their proxies] to be the sole “international community”.

International law is selective, and these rogue nations know this. They are repeat offenders, and their impunity emboldens them.

If a just peace and respect for international law were to ever have been the desired outcome in Syria, then the West would reverse course. Clearly, that has been their proven record time after time.

The United States Peace Council (USPC) offers simple steps that are immediately attainable. Peace would be achieved if the West and its allies were to:
1.Stop bombing Syrian economic infrastructure in the name of “fighting ISIS” which they are not.
2.Stop injecting these terrorist Wahabi Jihadist savages into Syria.
3.Stop funding, organizing and arming the combatants in Syria, i.e. FSA, Al-Nusra, etc.
4.Lift all sanctions on Syria.
5.Provide humanitarian aid to the war-torn Syrian people.
6.Help the Syrian refugees settle wherever possible — including most importantly back in Syria!

Confusion-mongers would have us believe that solving this conflict isn’t simple. But that’s only because they are allied with the terrorists who have been invading Syria during the past five bitter years and clearly these confusion-mongers’ interests are NOT peace, but perpetual war. NATO does not want peace, neither does Wahabi Saudi Arabia, apartheid Israel, or the Gulf Arab dictatorships.

The case for peace is strong and encoded in laws, conventions, and charters. Article 51 of the UN Charter clearly states that, not that I was ever a fan of the hijacked, globalist UN. Nevertheless, that is the only model we have for now.

Article 51 of the UN Charter: “Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defense if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to maintain international peace and security.”

Mercenary Wahabi terrorists – proxies for the West and its allies—have been criminally assaulting UN member Syria for years now, while Syria has been legally defending itself.

Syria and its allies respect the rule of law, unlike those imperialist rogue states which oppose international law, as evidenced by their failed attempts to impose illegal regime change.

UN Resolution 2254 is also very clear. Washington supports ISIS and every other terrorist group which is trying to destroy Syria. As such, Washington categorically rejects international law as well as UN Security Council Resolution 2254, which states that the war on Syria demands a “Syrian-led, Syria-owned political transition to end the conflict.”

ISIS, of course, and all other Western-supported mercenary Jihadi terrorists invading Syria also want “Assad to go”. The evidence of the West’s diabolical support of ISIS et al. mercenaries is increasingly transparent.

Apartheid Israel, Washington’s closest ally in the Middle East next to Saudi Arabia, is now publicly unraveling the ISIS psychological operation (psy op) – where they pretend to be fighting ISIS even as they are totally support it.

Israel’s military intelligence chief, Major General Herzi Halevy recently stated [at the Herzliya Conference] that, “Israel prefers ISIS over the Syrian government”, and he declared unambiguously that Israel does not want to see ISIS defeated.

Furthermore, writer Jason Ditz reports that Israeli officials have regularly expressed comfort with the idea of ISIS conquering the whole of Syria, saying they find it preferable to the Iran-allied government surviving the war. This is interesting because they were never so overtly supportive of ISIS and its survival.

Clearly, should the West’s objectives be realized, Wahabi terrorist gangs such as ISIS will fill the vacuum left by this illegal “regime change” war.

Israel, like Washington and its allies, including the Gulf Arab dictatorships, prefers the total destruction of democratic, pluralist, secular, civilized Syria in favor of gangs of Wahabi-inspired savages.

Here’s another outrageous falsehood: There have NEVER been any “moderate” terrorists in Syria! The true moderate opposition in Syria attends parliament and does not seek the violent overthrow of its elected government. The real “moderates” abhor the genocidal violence of the western-supported terrorists.

Journalist Stephen Lendman explains, “All armed opposition groups in Syria who are engaged in combat against government forces are slaughtering defenseless civilians. These are all terrorists. Washington and its rogue allies support them – imported death squads unable to exist without foreign backing.”

No so-called “moderate rebels” exist. Period! This is pure falsehood meant as a psychological warfare propaganda strategy to confuse the masses and manufacture consent for NATO’s evil endeavors in Syria.

Speaking last October at the International Valdai Discussion Club’s annual meeting, President Putin forthrightly said, “Why play with words dividing terrorists into moderate and not moderate? What’s the difference?”

We no longer need to draw on historical memory either – a weak spot with Western mindless consumers. Can we ever be forgiven for letting NATO destroy Libya, using Al-Qaeda proxies, and that Libya is now an ISIS stronghold?

Can we ever be forgiven for allowing the West’s utter destruction of Iraq, using proxies, or that it did the same thing in the already war-torn Afghanistan and Bosnia, or the fact that the West supports an illegal neo-Nazi infested regime in the Ukraine?

In the here-and-now, ignorance or forgetfulness is not an excuse!

In an interview with neo-con Wolf Blitzer on the CNN propaganda channel, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard re-iterated what we should all know: The war on Syria is illegal and counter-productive, and a (proposed) “No-Fly Zone” would escalate the war and worsen the current humanitarian and refugee crises.

She also amplified the fact that Western imperialism has (intentionally) strengthened rather than weakened terrorist groups in Iraq, Libya, and Syria.

In an interview with The Nation Magazine, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard explained that, “escalating the war to overthrow Assad will make things even worse. It will cause more suffering and chaos and strengthen ISIS and Al-Qaeda to the point where they may be able to take over all of Syria,” and the result, she says, “would be disastrous, including a genocide against religious minorities, secularists, atheists, and anyone who refuses to accept the extremist Wahabi theology. The refugee crisis will increase exponentially, and it could lead to a direct confrontation with Russia.”

The West’s refusal to seek peace and its choice to instead perpetrate an overseas holocaust is consistent with the Israeli Intelligence Chief’s lament that ISIS is being weakened in Syria.

Evidence demonstrates time and again that the West and its allies actively seek to destroy other sovereign nations by supporting terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda, aka Al-Nursra Front, ISIS, and other terrorists groups. It’s increasingly a no-brainer on many levels: During the U.S. bombing campaign, ostensibly against ISIS, for example, ISIS territory actually increased dramatically.

Once a country is destroyed and/or Balkanized, it is less able to oppose any number of Washington’s toxic agendas, including pipeline plans which were the root cause of this whole conflict right from the beginning.

Whenever Washington or its allies talk about peace and combating terrorism, or whenever they vilify President Assad and the Syrian government, we can be assured that they are lying or that they are politically ignorant or that they are blindly following illegitimate diktats from above.

Besides the notion that our Western governments actually represent “the people” is increasingly absurd!

The West’s on-going violations against Syria share common elements with the West’s violations against Nicaragua during the 1980s. There is a legal precedent here. The International Court at the Hague ruled, on June 26, 1986 as follows:

“The International Court at the Hague decides that the United States of America, by training, arming, equipping, financing and supplying the ‘contra’ forces or otherwise encouraging, supporting and aiding military and paramilitary activities in and against Nicaragua, has acted, against the Republic of Nicaragua, in breach of its obligation under customary international law not to intervene in the affairs of another State.”

Ample evidence demonstrates, and has demonstrated for years, that NATO and its allies are committing the same crimes against Syria. They are training, arming, financing, supplying, and protecting all of the mercenary terrorists invading Syria as their proxy soldiers and death squads just like they did in Nicaragua in the 1980s.

Furthermore, all of this Western orchestrated death and destruction continues to be waged without an official declaration of war.

In light of recent events and US threats against Syria, because Washington and its coalition partners have neither been invited into Syria nor has war been declared against Syria or its partners, all aircraft in Syrian airspace other than those of the:
1.Syrian Air Force,
2.Russian Air Force, and
3.Iranian Air Force

are prohibited from carrying air-to-air missiles over Syrian airspace.

ISIS has no air force in Syria; therefore air-to-air missiles carried by US-coalition aircraft have no legitimate purpose except to employ them against ‘1’ through ‘3.’ US-coalition aircraft may only retain an internal gun and flare/chaff dispensers for self-defense. All air-to-air weapons are prohibited.

Violators will be photographed, national origin and tail number recorded, and escorted out of Syrian airspace. Repeat offenders could be shot down and its aircrew returned to nation of origin. Aircraft that can carry air-to-air missile rounds in internal weapon bays – are prohibited.

The on-going and accelerating lawlessness of the West and its allies is unfolding within a framework of unprecedented state-sponsored terrorism. According to a plausible study by a German think tank, Firil Centre For Studies, about 360,000 foreign terrorist mercenaries fought in Syria, against the legitimate government of Syria, between April 10, 2011 and January 31, 2016.

And the dirty war continues, as Western citizens remain lulled by the sophisticated mainstream media propaganda, the effectiveness of which far exceeds any propaganda that North Korea might be able to project on its citizens. Humanity’s hopes for a better future are being suppressed by broken laws, by impunity, and by engineered political passivity.

The Syrian government began releasing 169 militants in its prisons in exchange for the return of the bodies of five Russian soldiers killed when their helicopter was downed, a lawyer told media.

Syrian Government Swaps 169 Prisoners for Bodies of Russian Pilots
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950618000385

"On Tuesday, 50 inmates including seven women were set free from Adra prison and 84 others from Hama prison," Michel Chammas, who represents many of them, told reporters by phone from Germany, Ahram Online reported.

"Another 31 inmates at Homs prison were also informed that they are going to be let go but they still haven't been released. Four others held elsewhere should also be released," he said.

Chammas told AFP the releases would take place in exchange for the return of "the bodies of five Russian soldiers" that are in militants' hands.

Two officers and three crew were aboard a Russian military helicopter shot down on August 1 in the Northwestern province of Idlib, which many parts of it were under the control of a coalition of militant groups at that time.

The attack was the single deadliest for Moscow since it intervened in the conflict in September 2015 in support of Syrian government, taking to 18 the overall number of Russian soldiers killed in the country.

Chammas declined to say which militant groups were involved in the negotiations with the governement.

A Syrian monitoring group, said 86 people had been released in the Central city of Hama.

They had been accused of "terrorism" or involvement in anti-regime protests at the outbreak of Syria's conflict in 2011, said the Britain-based monitor, which has a network of sources on the ground in Syria.

A spokesman for the militant forces involved in the exchange said they had charged a "commission" with negotiating the swap.

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake has been reported in North Korea, according to the United States Geological Survey. The incident occurred near nuclear test sites, raising speculation that Pyongyang has conducted new tests.

The seismic activity, also confirmed by a European monitoring agency, comes amid speculation that the DPRK was preparing for a fifth nuclear test. A South Korean government source said that it sees a "high possibility" that the DPRK has conducted its latest underground nuclear test, according to Yonhap news agency, which described it as an "artificial quake."

"Possible explosion, located near the location where North Korea has detonated nuclear explosions in the past. If this is indeed an explosion, the USGS National Earthquake Information Center cannot determine what type of explosion it may be, whether nuclear or any other possible type," USGS said.

The China Earthquake Networks Center said the epicenter of the quake was detected at an altitude of 0 kilometers. The earthquake was detected near a location where the DPRK's fourth nuclear test occurred in January.

South Korean presidential Blue House will hold an emergency National Security Council meeting after the seismic activity.

Pyongyang has conducted a series of nuclear and ballistic missile tests since January, resulting in harsh new sanctions being implemented by the UN Security Council. Last month, security experts said that indications showed North Korea's nuclear arsenal to be expanding rapidly. "Assuming the current rate of development, while North Korea still faces significant technological challenges including building a new class of submarine to carry the missile, it is on track to develop the capability to strike targets in the region — including Japan — by 2020," reads a recent report by the US Korea Institute at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at John Hopkins University.

Over 70 Aid Groups Threaten to Suspend Work With UN Over Assad 'Manipulation'
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160908/1045104916/syria-un-humanitarian-aid.html

Dozens of humanitarian aid organizations working in Syria have threatened to suspend cooperation with the United Nations over its alleged complicity with the Syrian government denying aid to besieged opposition-held areas, media reported on Thursday.

A total of 73 aid groups, including the Syrian Civil Defense, which operates in Syria's opposition-held territory, and the Syrian American Medical Society, accused some UN agencies of shaping their decisions in accordance with the political will of the Syrian government and allowing it to interfere in the delivery of aid by inter-agency convoys, The Guardian newspaper reported, citing a joint letter written by the alliance. "The Syrian government has interfered with the delivery of humanitarian assistance in multiple instances, including the blocking of aid to besieged areas, the removal of medical aid from inter-agency
convoys, the disregard for needs assessments and information coming from humanitarian actors in Syria, and the marginalisation of other humanitarian actors in the critical planning phases of crisis response," the joint letter said, as quoted by the publication.

Addressing the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the non-governmental organizations stated that that the situation is unlikely to change in the future.

"We have been cooperating with OCHA, but we would add our points and OCHA Damascus would remove them…As a result, when you talk about besieged areas or medical evacuations, they aren’t doing their job…We lost confidence in the way they operate and would like to see major changes to the way they work on the Syrian response," Fadi Dairi, a representative of the NGO alliance, told the newspaper.

The move comes just over a week after The Guardian revealed contracts worth millions of dollars signed between the United Nations and figures close to Syrian President Bashar Assad. The United Nations dismissed any accusations, stressing that it can only work with partners approved by the Syrian government.

The seismic event detected in North Korea on Friday morning is identical to what was registered when Pyongyang conducted a nuclear test in January, the head of the Sakhalin seismological station told RIA Novosti.

"The earthquake could be artificial as it is analogous to what we registered on January 6 of the current year, when DPRK declared nuclear tests. We have studied the nature of the seismic waves today [comparing it] to the January 6 wave map, they are identical," Elena Semenova said on Friday.

She added that the Friday data is also similar to what was registered in 2006, 2009 and 2013, when North Korea conducted its other nuclear tests.

Russia and the United States are discussing the implementation of a seven-to-10-day-long ceasefire in Syria, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Friday.

US, Russia Discussing 10-Day Humanitarian Pause in Syria Fighting - Steinmeier
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160909/1045142964/us-russia-syria-pause.html

At a conference at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Berlin, Steinmeier said: "The most important thing for now is a humanitarian pause for Aleppo, and it would be preferable to make it last for 48 hours. Talks are currently being held on implementing a ceasefire for between seven and 10 days."

The discussions are taking place at the ongoing meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry, who are discussing the settlement of the Syrian conflict, according to the minister.

Lavrov and Kerry met earlier in the day in Geneva. A day before, Lavrov also met with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, discussing humanitarian access to the besieged areas of Syria as well as the United Nations' role in a possible US-Russian deal on Syrian political settlement.

Russian Military Delivers Three Tonnes of Food to Aleppo
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160909/1045126092/russia-humanitarian-aid-aleppo.html

Russian military brought three metric tons of food to the refugees in the eastern part of the war-ravaged Aleppo, a spokesman for the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation said Friday.

"Canned meat, fish, cereals. We would like to note that people trust in our help and they continue to leave through the humanitarian corridors," Amir Demlikamov told journalists. The humanitarian aid will be distributed among the citizens of besieged Aleppo, including the families of Syrian soldiers killed during the fights in the city.

Local residents expressed their gratitude to Russia for its humanitarian and military support, Demlikamov said. Last week, the Russian military handed out 6 tons of humanitarian aid to help orphaned children in Aleppo.

On August 27, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura reiterated his call for all parties to the conflict to agree on a 48-hour humanitarian pause in Aleppo aimed at aid delivery and repairs for the city's power and water systems. Russia supported the proposal, with UN humanitarian convoys awaiting all parties to the conflict to back the proposal.

Syrian military sources announced that the country's army has shot down at least five drones of the militant groups in the Southern province of Dara'a.

"Syrian soldiers downed five drones of the terrorist groups close to Jabajeb small town near Dara'a city," the sources said.

The Syrian air force, meantime, bombed terrorist positions near the towns of Ibtta, Dael, al-Harak and al-Sworeh in Northern Dara'a.

Sources said on Wednesday that the Syrian army and popular forces pounded the military bases of the terrorist groups in Dara'a province, killing a large number of militants. The military bases of two terrorist groups came under the Syrian army attacks in Dara'a al-Balad and al-Mahatta regions in Dara'a province.
Scores of terrorists were killed and wounded in the army offensives on their military positions.

Two bases of the terrorists in Dara'a al-Balad district and a command center of militants near Busra al-Sham came under massive attacks of the army, which left scores of militants dead or wounded and destroyed their sites.

Meantime in Wednesday, the Syrian army was preparing for a new round of military operation to seize back a strategic region in Dara'a province. "The Syrian army is preparing to drive the terrorist groups out of the town of Ibtta in Dara'a province," a military source said.

The battlefield sources reiterated that the Syrian army is only 3 kilometers away from Ibtta town and the government forces have already recaptured a military base near the town.

Terrorists have only 48 hours to leave their positions in the Eastern districts of Aleppo and leave the city, the Syrian Army announced on Friday.

Syrian Army Gives Two Days to Terrorists to Leave Aleppo City

The Syrian army aircraft dropped leaflets over Aleppo city and gave only two days to the terrorist to leave the city via a corridor established by the Syrian troops.

"Aleppo is under our siege. You have this corridor to leave the city otherwise you will be killed," the leaflets said.

Meantime on Thursday, the Syrian army and popular forces, backed by artillery units, continued to advance in the Southern parts of Aleppo after taking control of Khan Touman's warehouses.

Concurrent with the army operations, the air force pounded the terrorists' gathering centers in Khan Touman and the nearby areas as well as Ma'arata in the Southwestern parts of the military academy region.

They also launched airstrikes on Kafr Hamra and Haraytan in the Northern parts of Aleppo as well as Kafr Naha, Sheikh Suleiman and Kafr Daesh in the Western parts of the province.

China implicitly urged the United States not to meddle in the South China Sea territorial dispute, saying Beijing is eager to work with South Asian countries to settle the issue.

China Wants US Out of South China Sea Dispute
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950618000858

According to a statement released by China’s Foreign Ministry, the country’s Prime Minister Li Keqiang said Beijing was willing to work with the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in “dispelling interference... and properly handling the South China Sea issue”, presstv reported.

While not referring to the US by name, the Chinese prime minister was clearly referring to Washington, which frequently pops in to take sides in the regional dispute, with China’s rival claimants.

Hours earlier, Arsenio Andolong, a spokesperson for the Philippines’ Defense Department, had accused China of building “illegal” islands at Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea.

“We have reason to believe that their presence is a precursor to building activities on the shoal,” Andolong had said at the regional summit of the 10-member ASEAN in Laos earlier on Wednesday. “We are continuing our surveillance and monitoring of their presence and activities, which are disturbing.”

After the claims put forward by Manila, ASEAN leaders met with Li and his aides in a closed-door meeting.

China claims almost all of the strategic South China Sea, through which $6.5 trillion in shipping trade passes annually. The sea is also claimed in part by Taiwan, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims are not attending the Hajj pilgrimage this year because Saudi authorities failed to ensure their safety following a tragic crush on September 24, 2015.

Hajj begins as Mina tragedy haunts
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2016/09/09/483870/Hajj-Muslims-Mecca-Saudi-Arabia

Close to 1.5 million Muslims descended on the holy city of Mecca on Thursday to perform Hajj, Saudi officials said.

In one of the first rites of Hajj, which formally starts on Saturday, white-clad pilgrims take their turn circling the Kaaba, Islam’s holiest shrine, at the Grand Mosque.

Saudi officials say some three million pilgrims are expected to arrive for the pilgrimage that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake during their lifetime.

However, many others will not be able to attend the event, including those from Iran which lost the biggest number of pilgrims by a single country during the last Hajj pilgrimage.

Iran decided not to send its pilgrims this year because of “obstacles” created by Saudi Arabia and its failure to guarantee their safety.

At least 464 Iranians lost their lives during last year's Hajj crush which claimed as many as 2,400 lives, according to body counts from several countries or even double or more that figure according to some officials.

Saudi authorities gave an initial tally of 770 deaths and then stopped counting the dead as the toll rose.

The events which led to the crush as well as Saudi authorities' handling of its aftermath drew widespread criticism which continues to this day.

Thousands of Brazilian demonstrators have held a massive rally to protest against the newly-installed President Michel Temer.

Protesters stage massive rally against newly-installed president in Sao Paulo
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2016/09/09/483871/Brazil-protest-rally-Michel-Temer-Sao-Paulo-

Supporters of former president Dilma Rousseff — who was ousted in an impeachment supported by Temer — and others opposing the new government took to the streets in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo on Thursday to voice their anger.

The protesters, including union members and social activists, chanted anti-Temer slogans and held placards that read “Temer out.”

The protesters also denounced the removal of Rousseff from office.

Temer was booed at a ceremony in the capital, Brasilia, in his first public appearance since taking office last week. Temer had arrived at the heavily-policed ceremony in a closed presidential vehicle instead of the traditional open top Rolls Royce normally used in such ceremonies.

In recent days, Rousseff's supporters have staged several protest rallies urging the new president to step down. Protests against the new president have been held in Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Sao Paulo and other Brazilian cities.

There are some big developments right now. Duterte has ramped up his anti-American rhetoric, despite criticisms about 'the human rights of drug traffickers and pimps' coming from western media corridors.

Pacific Hegemony: Will Duterte join Putin and Xi ?
http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/09/pacific-hegemony-will-duterte-join.html

At this week's ASEAN summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow supports China’s position on the South China Sea legal dispute. He also affirmed his opposition to any interference by other parties. This is meant in part to give Filipino President Duterte some room to maneuver.

In light of other developments both with the firm anti-American imperialism comments made by Filipino president Duterte, China's position is generally regarded to be at odds with how south Asian states, in particular the Philippines, have interpreted the matter of these international waters. China has land-filled some natural reefs and small islands, placing trade structures there, but also has established some permanent residences on the semi-natural islands, with electricity and plumbing and has essentially claimed this as Chinese, and claimed them as habitable islands with residents.

The US is generally pleased with the results of the legal process so far, when on July 12th the Hague-based Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled that China has no legal basis to claim historic rights to the South China Sea resources, and has violated the sovereign rights of the Philippines in the country's exclusive economic zone.

At the same time, Duterte seems willing to make some other sort of compromise with China, given the important relationship that these two states have, and especially in light of Duterte's increasingly anti-American stance.

Just yesterday, in what attendees described as a "fiery address," President Rodrigo Duterte ad-libbed during his prepared speech on Thursday and targeted President Barack Obama, telling some ugly truths on US military killings in the Philippines. This happened at a meeting of the 18-nation EAS summit, always held right after the ASEAN group meeting, which includes the United States. This was according to three diplomats who were in the room who spoke to Agence France-Presse at the event in Vientiane, Laos.

"The Philippine president showed a picture of the killings of American soldiers in the past and the president said: 'This is my ancestor they killed. Why now we are talking about human rights,'" an Indonesian delegate said. The Philippines was an American colony from 1898 to 1946.

(Caption under photo - "Embarrassed by a guerrilla massacre of US troops on the Island of Samar, General Jacob H. Smith retaliated by carrying out an indiscriminate attack upon its people, killing every male over 10 years of age." )

Earlier during the ASEAN portion of the same general meeting, Putin said: "Chairman Xi Jinping and I have developed very trusting, I would say friendly, relations. But he never – I want to emphasize this – never approached me requesting to somehow comment, somehow intervene in the matter [...] We of course have our own opinion on this matter. It is that, first of all, we do not interfere and we believe that any intervention of a non-regional power goes only to the detriment of settling these issues. The intervention of third-party non-regional powers, in my opinion, is harmful and counterproductive," he added. For those just catching up with the lexicon, 'non-regional powers' means the United States.

The issue of the Philippines claim against China stems from before the rise of Duterte as a sovereign leftist force in Filipino politics. The ruling came after Manila filed a case in January 2013 accusing Beijing of violating the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. "We stand in solidarity and support of China's position on this issue – not to recognize the decision of this court… This is not a political position, but purely legal. It lies in the fact that any arbitration proceedings should be initiated by the disputing parties, while the arbitration court should hear the arguments and positions of the disputing parties. As you know, China did not address the Hague arbitration and no one listened to its position there. How can you recognize these decisions as fair? We support China's position on this issue," Putin stressed. Beijing’s territorial claims to the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea, which are believed to be rich in oil and gas reserves, run counter to those of the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei and Vietnam.

However, Duterte is now angling his island nation as a sovereign regional state, distancing itself from its historic ties to the United States - the US has essentially treated Duterte's homeland as a colony ever since it claimed Spain's rights to it in 1898 in the aftermath of the Spanish-American War of the same year, despite formal independence in 1946.

If the Philippines is willing to make a side agreement with China, it would further solidify China and Russia's position that the July ruling is without legal merit. This could signify a realignment in the region, forcing Japan and Indonesia to respond and adjust its policy in ways that are both predictable and readily able to be dealt with. Vietnam is already a close Russian ally, and Taiwan is increasingly dependent on and close to China, despite the shallow rhetoric of its political class.

This process would, once again, leave Japan as the odd-man out. The US would like to arm Japan on yet another problematic course, so in order to avoid a repeat of history, Japan will likely be forced to adjust its political policy to match its actual economic policy: a high volume of trade with China. In 2010, China overtook Japan as the world's second-largest economy.

Hungarian TV: 300 Islamists Have Infiltrated the German Army

http://russia-insider.com/en/politics/hungarian-tv-300-islamists-have-infiltrated-german-army/ri16369

Merkel's Germany isn't just opening Europe's floodgates to millions of potential ISIS fighters - it's also helping to train them

The media in Hungary, a country which often finds itself at odds with EU policies, sometimes gives a perspective on European events that is lacking in mainstream western media.

According to this interview with security expert Georg Spöttle which appeared on Hungarian TV news, at least 300 Muslim extremists have infiltrated the German army, where they hope to receive the training they need to carry out attacks.

Published on Sep 1, 2016

This is made all the more easier by the fact that a large segment of Germany's combat units are now no longer composed of Germans - 60% have a migratory background, says Mr. Spöttle, and 1/4 of the entire German army are migrants as reported in this article which appeared in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Germany's most respected newspaper.

Hungary's prime minister Viktor Orban is well known as a pragmatic politician who "says it like it is" and does what he thinks is in his country's interest, Brussels bureaucrats be damned. It's no surprise he has a great relationship with Vladimir Putin.

Hungary has cultivated close political and economic links with Russia (as far as allowed by EU sanctions) and its government strongly resists any suggestion by EU leaders France and Germany that refugees should be apportioned among EU members.

Are we witnessing the end of the Merkel era? Merkel appears to be determined to run once again for re-election, but among German conservatives, doubts are growing as to whether that is really a good idea. There hasn't as yet been an open revolt, but within the Chancellery, a combination of defiance and paranoia is spreading -- a development that is reminiscent of the final days of former Chancellor Helmut Kohl's 16-year reign.

Is The Merkel Era Coming To an End?

http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/refugee-policy-sees-waning-of-power-for-merkel-a-1111668.html

Chancellor Merkel's refugee policies have divided the country and the right-wing populist AfD party is rapidly gaining support. Conservatives are calling on Merkel to change course, but she is refusing to admit fallibility.

Russia Successfully Test Launches Topol Ballistic Missile

https://sputniknews.com/military/20160909/1045147617/russia-topol-launch.html

According to the ministry, the missile, launched from the Plesetsk space center in northwestern Russia has hit a designated target on the Kamchatka peninsula "with high precision."

The RS-12M Topol (SS-25 Sickle) is a single-warhead intercontinental ballistic missile, which entered service in 1985.

It has a maximum range of 10,000 km (6,125 miles) and can carry a nuclear warhead with a yield of up to 550 kilotons.

Russia's new S-300V4 air defense system to get three types of hypersonic missiles

http://tass.com/defense/898884

For the destruction of ballistic missile warheads, the air defense system missiles are for the first time equipped with a directional warhead with "light" and "heavy" strike elements

The S-300V4 anti-aircraft missile defense system, which has been supplied to the Russian troops since the end of 2014, will be equipped with three types of hypersonic missiles, a representative of Russia’s air defense weapons’ manufacturer - Almaz-Antey Concern, told reporters on Friday at the Army 2016 Forum.

"The versatility of the S-300V4 system, according to the ‘efficiency - cost’ criterion, is achieved by using of three types of missiles - all SAM (surface-to-air missiles) in it - solid fuel, two-stage, hypersonic, maximally unified with each other", he said.

The company spokesman said that the S-300V4 system will be able to use the 9M83M small missile, the large 9M82MD and intermediate 9M82M missile with the range of up to 200 km. According to him, the 9M82MD missile is designed to intercept aerodynamic targets within the range of 400 km, as well as the main types of ballistic targets, including the warheads of medium-range ballistic missiles flying at a speed of up to 4,500 meters per second

For the destruction of ballistic missile warheads, the air defense system missiles are for the first time equipped with a directional warhead with "light" and "heavy" strike elements, said the expert. The effectiveness of such a warhead is "more than five-fold or six-fold" higher than the "classic" one, the representative of Almaz-Antey said.

The contract on the supply of the S-300V4 system was signed with the Russian Defense Ministry in 2012, and the first set off the system was made operational in late 2014. In May, Almaz-Antey General Designer Pavel Sozinov said in an interview with TASS that a new long-range missile, which allows the system to destroy targets at a distance of 400 kilometers, was made operational.

More than 120,000 people take part in Caucasus-2016 drills

http://tass.com/defense/898820

The Caucasus-2016 exercise is held in Russia’s Southern Military District from September 5 to 10 under the command of Chief of the General Staff

More than 120,000 people, both military personnel and civilians, have taken part in The Caucasus-2016 exercise, but no more than 12,500 were engaged simultaneously, the Chief of Russia’s General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, told the media on Friday.

"At various stages of these measures (exercise - TASS) more than 120,000 troops, members of federal ministries and agencies and also specialists of the Central Bank of Russia were involved consecutively, at different periods in the Southern, Central and Western military districts," Gerasimov said.

"In the territory of the Southern Military District no more than 12,500 troops were involved in the exercise at any one time, which does not contradict the Vienna Document," he said.
Gerasimov described the drills as the "culminating point of intensive military training."

"It was a hard test for commanders of all ranks. It put to test all staffs and military control agencies and their ability to coordinate operations by combined forces in theaters of combat operations," Gerasimov said.

The Caucasus-2016 exercise is being held in southern Russia on September 5-10.

Russian Armed Forces use Syrian army’s experience at Kavkaz-2016 drills

http://tass.com/defense/898862

The active phase of the exercise is over

Russia’s commando units and artillery, armor and other forces have been actively borrowing and employing the Syrian military’s experience in the course of the strategic command staff exercise Kavkaz-2016, the chief of the General Staff, General Valery Gerasimov, said on Friday.

"In the course of the exercise the aviation, special operations units, commando units, artillery forces and other specialists have borrowed the experience of the Syrian army’s combat operations, such as the creation of ramparts, the tactic of using armor forces and other aspects," he told the media following the active phase of the Kavkaz-2016 exercise.

He said the troops displayed a high level of training.

"The main events were held at the Prudboi proving ground in the Volgograd Region, Molkino, in the Krasnodar Territory, Chernovodskoye, in North Ossetia, and here, at Opuk, in Crimea," Gerasimov said.

The active phase of the exercise is over, he declared.

"Now it will take some time to gather objective information regarding the fire practices and the troops’ tactics using the opinion of umpires. Once the information has been summarized the results will be announced. In any case the exercise was of great benefit to the Southern Military District and the forces that were attracted from the central and western military districts," Gerasimov said.

The final check of the armed forces was due in October.

"An assessment will be made of the forces and troops and of what they have achieved over the past year," Gerasimov said.

Idlib: Jund Al-Aqsa Terrorists Suffer Heavy Losses in Syrian Air Attacks

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950619000317

Syrian warplanes targeted Jund al-Aqsa's sites in al-Latamina and Skeik, ending in the destruction of number of their vehicles.

In the meantime, several members of the Free Syrian Army were killed in a roadside bomb explosion on Lattakia-Jisr al-Shughour road.

Also on Thursday, the Syrian warplanes destroyed the positions of Fatah al-Sham terrorist group in Maar Dabsi in Idlib, killing tens of militants.

A field source said on Thursday that the air force blew up several military vehicles and a base used by the terrorists in Maar Dabsi, 25km Southeast of Idlib city.

The source added that several militants were killed and all of their weapons and ammunition were destroyed in the attack.

Also the Syrian fighter jets attacked the gathering centers of Jeish al-Fatah terrorist group in al-Taman'a, Abu Zohur and Banash in Idlib, blowing up 10 armored vehicles, arms depots and suicide-car making workshops.

Lattakia: Syrian Army, Terrorists Engage in Fierce Clashes over Control of Key Regions

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950619000615

The fierce clashes between the government forces and terrorists came as the Syrian army has started its fresh military operations in Jabal al-Akrad region and the Syrian air force pounded the terrorists' military positions in the same area.

In late August, the Russian Air Force carried out several airstrikes over the Mountains of Lattakia on Friday after they received reports of a massive Fatah al-Sham Front (formerly known as Al-Nusra Front) gathering near the key town of Kabani.

A military source in Northeastern Lattakia said that the Russian Air Force pounded the gathering along Zuwayqat-Kabani road, killing a large number of Fatah al-Sham Front militants that were preparing to strike Syrian Army positions South of Kabani.

The total number of militants killed by the airstrikes is unknown, however, the source added that several armored vehicles belonging to Fatah al-Sham Front were destroyed during the Russian onslaught.

The aerial attack on terrorist groups in Northern Lattakia comes as Syrian soldiers and National Defense Forces continue to push terrorist groups back from more strongholds in the province's mountainous region and restored security to at least 17 villages, heights and small towns in recent days.

"The Syrian government forces fortified their positions in Bashouran, Marj al-Zawiyeh, al-Hamrat, Toubal, Shilif, Balah, Mazin, Ouniyat, Ara, Dowyrika, Salma, Benjazi, Arafit, Ta'oumeh, Aliyeh, al-Beidha and Ein al-Barda," a battlefield source said.

"The Syrian forces are now getting ready to launch fresh round of operations to liberate militant-held regions of Boughaz, Kafr Inya, Dama, insurgents camp, Shamervaran, Salour, Jagal Isa and Hayat," they added.

Damascus: Syrian Army Continues to Advance in Eastern Ghouta

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950619000653

The army units pushed deeper inside al-Reyhan farms and took more areas along the factories road in Eastern Ghouta, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists.

"The Syrian army units foiled an attempt by the terrorists to attack their military positions in Eastern Ghouta," a military source further added.

Meantime, the Syrian fighter jets raided the terrorists' military positions in the town of Douma in Damascus countryside.

In a relevant development earlier on Friday, the Syrian military forces discovered a long tunnel of the terrorists in Eastern Ghouta and exploded it, leaving dozens of the terrorists stuck inside dead or wounded.

A long tunnel used by the militant groups to carry arms and transfer forces between the regions of Tal Kurdi and Tal al-Swan was detonated by the Syrian army.

Tens of the militants were killed or wounded in the attack.

Syrian soldiers also repelled terrorists' attacks near Barzeh road, leaving several militants dead.

Earlier this week, Syrian military forces engaged in fierce clashes with Jeish al-Islam terrorists in Eastern Ghouta and drove them out of a key region, inflicting a heavy death toll on the militants.

Jeish al-Islam suffered tens of casualties and pulled the remaining pockets of its forces from the Southwestern side of Rahbat al-Ishareh.

The Syrian army men also advanced towards town of Ma'arateh in Southern side of al-Moshrifeh and took control over arms depots there.

At least 40 militants were killed and many more were wounded in the army attacks.

Syrian fighter jet, for their part, pounded Jeish al-Islam's supply routes in Eastern Ghouta.

Meantime, a number of Takfiri terrorists were killed in Syrian missile units' shelling in al-Afi well region.

Syrian Army Repels Terrorists' Attacks on Gov't Positions in Dara'a Province

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950619000689

The terrorists' attacks to capture the government forces' positions in Wadi al-Zeidi in the Eastern part of Dara'a province were fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Several terrorists were killed and wounded in the army attack.

Meantime, air force fighter jets pounded the terrorists' military positions in Ibtta and Da'el town in Dara'a province, killing a number of the militants.

Two notorious terrorists Abdollah Mohammad Avaz, nom de guerre Abu Aoun, and Nasser Ebrahim Mesri were among the terrorists' casualties.

Earlier on Friday, the Syrian Army soldiers attacked two sites of the terrorists in Dara'a city and a command center of them in the Southern territories of Dara'a province, inflicting major losses on the militants.

The battlefield sources reiterated that the Syrian army was only 3 kilometers away from Ibtta town and the government forces have already recaptured a military base near the town.

Following a meeting in Geneva, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry have announced plans to stem the violence in Syria.

US, Russia Announce Plan to Stem Violence in Syria
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160910/1045153716/us-russia-syria-stem-violence.html

Speaking to reporters, Kerry expressed hope that the new plan could be the moment when multilateral diplomatic efforts begin to take hold.

"We must go after these terrorists. Not indiscriminately, but in a systematic way," he said. Russia and the US are calling on all sides to honor a nationwide cessation of hostilities beginning at sundown on September 12. This involves halting all attacks, including airstrikes.

The agreement also requires unimpeded humanitarian access to areas in need, including Aleppo, and depends on all forces pulling back from Castello Road.

Kerry said he expects Russia to ensure that the Syrian government adheres to the ceasefire.

Foreign Minister Lavrov stressed that there still remains a lack of confidence in US-Russia cooperation and negotiations on Syria. He added that the top priority for this agreement is to reconfirm the ceasefire, stressing that both the US and Russia will work will with all parties to ensure that hostilities cease within the next 48 hours. Once that is done, a joint implementation center will be established. This will be used to track down terrorists and separate them from moderate opposition groups, after which joint aerial strikes will be carried out by both US and Russian air forces against terrorist groups.

The pizza came from the American delegation, while the vodka was a gift from the Russian delegation. Lavrov and Kerry have set a record on the duration of Syria talks, their meeting in Geneva has been going on for over 14 hours. Lavrov and Kerry have already taken several breaks and held bilateral talks with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Friday.

After long clashes and with massive support from the Russian Aerospace Forces the Syrian Army destroyed militants’ positions in southern Aleppo. The military also delivered an ultimatum for terrorists in the eastern part of the city. Rivals of President Bashar Assad responded with a massive media campaign.

Syrian Army’s Success in Aleppo Sparks New Round in 'Anti-Assad PR Campaign'
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160909/1045149563/syria-aleppo-media-assad.html

Earlier on Friday, the Syrian army and militias retook control over Aleppo’s Ramuse region, secured and unblocked the southern entrance to the city. Terrorists were pushed to the nearby Sadkop oil storage facility.

Currently, engineering units of the Syrian Army are clearing the liberated areas of mines and shells. The area of the oil depots is the last defense line of the terrorists in Aleppo. At the same time, the Syrian military delivered an ultimatum to terrorists in the eastern part of the city. Aircraft of the Syrian Air Force dropped leaflets calling for the terrorists to lay down arms. The battle for Ramuse lasted for over 72 hours. Now, terrorists have lost their defense positions in southern Aleppo. During that time, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces attacked the area of the Khan-Tuman-Ramuse highway.

However, shortly after the Syrian Army took control over Ramuse reports of new chemical attacks appeared. The so-called Syrian moderate opposition accused both Damascus and Daesh of using chemical weapons. However, according to the Syrian government, chemical weapons have been used from positions of both moderate forces and al-Nusra Front.

Separating Syrian rebels from terrorists is one the most important step to resolving the Syrian crisis. This is also a serious obstacle for the United States and Russia to reach an agreement on Syria. However, no progress has been made, an article in the Russian online newspaper Vzglyad read.

This is another part of the anti-Assad PR campaign. It looks like a new attempt to demonize the Syrian President. Washington still wants him to resign," the article read.

NATO is taking every effort to justify its raison d'etre. However, the Alliance's saber-rattling on Russia's doorstep is triggering deep concern and anxiety among its members. Although "the marriage of interests" still holds, cracks are appearing among the bloc's members.

Rift Appears Within NATO Over the Bloc's Provocative Policy Toward Russia
https://sputniknews.com/politics/20160909/1045142939/us-europe-nato-russia.html

NATO member states are watching the Alliance's muscle-flexing near Russia's borders with growing concern, Turkish scholar and author Haydar Cakmak writes in his op-ed for Yenicag Gazetesi.

"There are no doubts that NATO's anti-missile defense system elements, which are deployed in Poland and Hungary to protect the European territories against attacks from the Middle East… are aimed against Russia," Cakmak underscored adding that the installations are triggering concerns among NATO European members, most notably, France and Germany.

"Russia is [also] aware that these missiles are aimed against it," he noted.

"In order to harass and intimidate Russia, the US-led NATO alliance is conducting some military activities," the Turkish scholar underscored referring to the bloc's Anaconda-2016 joint military drills, which were kicked off on June 5 in Poland, bringing together 31,000 troops from 24 states, including such non-aligned countries as Ukraine and Georgia. "These military exercises were regarded as threat to Russia and Russia was concerned with these drills," Cakmak highlighted. In addition to Anaconda exercises, BALTOPS 16 (Baltic Operation) was conducted in the Baltic Sea in June, involving 6,000 troops, 45 war planes and 60 war ships from 15 states. The Turkish scholar drew attention to the fact that the maneuvers were also targeted at Russia. Furthermore, NATO's Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), deployed at the Turkish Incirlik airbase, is monitoring the situation in Iraq and Syria.

"Russia and regional players, especially Turkey, are very disturbed about this monitoring and are skeptical about these [NATO] activities," Cakmak emphasized.

According to the Turkish author, there appears a rift between NATO allies over the recent developments.

While Washington is portraying Russia as a threat and an uncooperative actor, Germany and France are expressing their anxiety in regard to the US' political course toward Moscow. Cakmak cited German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier, who noted that security in Europe could be achieved only in cooperation with Moscow and denounced the Alliance's drills near Russia's borders as "saber-rattling." "What we should not do now is inflame the situation with loud saber-rattling and war cries," Steinmeier told the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, as cited by Reuters. "Whoever believes that symbolic tank parades on the alliance's eastern border will bring more security is mistaken. We are well-advised not to create pretexts to renew an old confrontation," Steinmeier added.

American journalist and author John Feffer echoed the Turkish scholar. He noted that the Alliance is falling apart at the seams.

"Russia's pushback against the West's expansion of influence — in Georgia in 2008, in Ukraine in 2014 — suddenly gave NATO a renewed sense of purpose (or dusted off an older one)," Feffer wrote in his article for online media outlet LobeLog.com, adding that beating back Daesh in Syria and Iraq "provided yet another raison d'etre" for the bloc. "Robust threats and eager aspirants: NATO would seem to be experiencing a veritable rebirth. Yet, despite these consolidating forces, the alliance is coming apart at the seams. It faces considerable dissension among its ranks," the American journalist underscored. On the one hand, Turkey has been proven to be a rather unpredictable and hard ally, he noted. On the other hand, a chorus of Eastern European states, such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Greece and Hungary are discontent with the EU-NATO anti-Russian sentiment.

The US journalist remarked that even in the US, the leading NATO member-state, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has thrown NATO's usefulness into question.

"However, Trump's questioning of NATO does reflect a certain ambivalence in the US public about the alliance," he added. Feffer referred to the Pew Research Center's July survey which indicated that 16 percent of American respondents believe that being a member of NATO is "bad" for the US, while 7 percent are not sure that it is "good." At the same time, 37 percent of US respondents would not support the invocation of Article 5 to defend fellow NATO members in the event of a Russian attack, the American journalist emphasized.

An Iranian official says Saudi Arabia has deliberately barred Iranians from making the Hajj pilgrimage and refused to discuss ways to prevent the reoccurrence of a deadly crush during last year’s Hajj rituals in Mina, near the holy city of Mecca.

Mecca, Medina properties of Islam, not Al Saud: Iran (Video)
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2016/09/09/483953/Iran-Saudi-Arabia-Hajj-Pilgrimage-Saeed-Ohadi-AFP

It was "unacceptable" to deprive the faithful Iranian people of the chance to perform the Hajj rituals, especially given the 15-20 year waiting list, Head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Saeed Ohadi said in an interview with AFP on Friday.

The Saudis "believe they are the owners -- that Mecca and Medina are their properties," he said, adding, "No, they are the properties of Islam."

The tragic Mina incident took place when two large masses of pilgrims converged at a crossroads during the symbolic ceremony of the stoning of Satan in Jamarat.

The northern city of Aleppo has been one of the most greatly misreported-on cities in the Syrian Arab Republic, with Western and Gulf media and NGOs continuously ignoring the realities of life in the city of over 1.5 million civilians, instead launching coordinated propaganda campaigns against the Syrian government and army, and in favour of terrorists labelled as “rebels”, and ignoring their firing of an array of missiles, rockets, Hell Cannon-fired gas canister bombs, explosive bullets, and more onto the civilians of greater Aleppo.

The Villages in Aleppo Ravaged by America’s “Moderate” Rebels (Photo Essay - 34 Photos)
http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-villages-in-aleppo-ravaged-by-americas-moderate-rebels/5544799?utm_campaign=magnet&utm_source=article_page&utm_medium=related_articles

Terrorists factions occupying areas of Aleppo include Jabhat al-Nusra, Ahrar al-Sham, the so-called “Free Syrian Army”, and child-beheading Nour el din Zinki mercenaries.

In July and in August, 2016, I traveled by car to Aleppo, to meet with doctors and ordinary civilians, and to hear their testimonies of life in a city which has many times been under terrorists’ siege and is always under terrorists’ bombings and snipings.

I was also able to visit Nubl, adjacent to Zahra’a, two villages just north of Aleppo which were under a devastating 3.5 year siege by terrorist factions until SAA and allies lifted it in February 2016. Residents endured prolonged periods of hunger, were targeted by terrorists’ bombings, and for want of medicines, medical treatment, and sanitary conditions suffered diseases that could otherwise have been treated.

The main highway to Aleppo runs through Idlib and Aleppo governorates. Due to the occupation of their countrysides by terrorists, the sole means of entering the city has only been via the Khanasser road and onto southern Ramouseh road, a roughly 500 metre stretch of which was risky due to terrorists’ sniping and shelling.

By August, the Ramouseh road had been closed due to terrorists’ increased shelling and sniping, and subsequently due to their occupation of districts in and near Ramouseh.

North of the city, the Castello road—much of which is a bumpy dirt path framed by the landscape of destroyed vehicles during the fight against terrorism—is now the only way into the city. Although secured by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and allies, the road is nonetheless targeted by mortars from terrorists occupying areas outside of Aleppo, as was the case the morning I was leaving Aleppo.

During the August trip, I visited the liberated areas of Bani Zeid and the Lairamoun Industrial district, both scenes of devastation in the fight against terrorists who were finally defeated.

Following are photos from the two visits.

* Driving up the Khanasser road, one passes the shells of trucks and cars, destroyed in one of Da’esh and other terrorists’ attacks on the road.

* On many sections of the Khanasser road, as well as the east-west road leading to Ithriya, Da’esh terrorists flank one side of the highway, just 2 or 3 km away, and the so-called FSA, al-Nusra and other factions flank the other side.

* Entering Aleppo via the southern Ramouseh road, stacked barrels, then embankments of sand and earth, screen cars from terrorist snipers’ bullets. Five of the driver’s were killed by snipers on this stretch of road in Ramouseh. This alternative road was the main means of entering Aleppo. Civilians in trucks, buses and cars on the road are all potential targets for Western-backed terrorists.

* Passing a cement factory roughly 400 metres from the road, beyond which, are terrorists occupying Sheikh Saeed, the driver explained, “here many mortars fall”, and opened a window so that it would not shatter from pressure. He then explained that for the next 500 metres, the risk of snipers’ bullets was high.

* Aleppo resident: “If you go straight 200 metres from this point, it is the no-man’s land, in both directions. There are still people living there, but it’s dangerous for them because of the mortars and snipers. At the borders, they put large pieces of cloth to hide the vision of the snipers.” That said, snipers could still randomly shoot through the cloth if they want.

* Aleppo resident: “Aleppo was a very beautiful city, but now its ugly. People who lost their shops in the Old City came here and put their shops on the sidewalks. Now, pedestrians have to walk on the street because the sidewalk is full of shops. Everywhere there are electrical cables from the private generators, we don’t have normal power supply.”

* The power plant lies in areas controlled by terrorist factions. For years, Aleppo residents have suffered from a lack of power, and compensate by purchasing generator-supplied electricity. Not cheap, some opt to buy just 1 ampere worth, which according to Aleppo resident Nabil Antaki costs around 4000 Syrian pounds a month (roughly US$8) . Two amperes will run a small television. Four amperes, a fridge, small television and a few bulbs.

* Beyond the historic Aleppo citadel, signs of the fight against terrorists who have bunkered deeply underground, as they did when occupying Homs and elsewhere in Syria. Aleppo’s old city has suffered immense destruction from the war that Syria did not ask for. Aleppo under government protection hosts thousands of refugees who have fled terrorist-occupied areas of the city.

* Ramadan prayers in the Rowda mosque, where Grand Mufti Hassoun used to give sermons. According to his assistant, before the war on Syria about 500 women regularly came to pray at the mosque. “Six or so months ago, a mortar hit the mosque. It bounced off the dome and fell outside in the courtyard. There were about 400 children here learning the Quran. If it had gone through the roof, it would have killed a lot of children,” he said. The worshippers at this mosque are predominately Sunni, in a city secured by the Syrian government. This is notable in that it contradicts the Western media’s blatant propaganda about a sectarian war, a “Sunni uprising against the government”.

* From Aziziya district, on July 4, half a kilometer away, the explosion of a terrorist-fired bomb. Around 5 pm, this is a busy time when streets are packed with cars and pedestrians; terrorists know they can kill and maim more civilians when attacking at these busy hours. Minutes later, an anti-aircraft explosive bullet landed roughly 15 metres away from my Aziziya venue. Had it landed on one of the parked cars, there would have been many casualties. A day later, such an explosive bullet killed the mother of an Aleppo friend, at her home.

* Hell Cannon-fired gas canister bombs litter the countryside around Aleppo and on the route to Nubl and Zahra’a. These, and larger variations, are what Western-backed terrorists have rained down on the city of Aleppo, as well as besieged Foua and Kafarya in Idlib governorate. Manufactured locally, fired upon civilians daily, gas canister bombs get virtually no mention in corporate media, although their impact is deadly.

* The roughly 65,000 people of Nubl and Zahra’a villages, under siege from terrorist factions of the so-called FSA, al-Nusra, and affiliated factions for three and a half years, were on February 3, 2016, liberated from the choke-hold which strangled them. Zeinab Sharbo, 25, and Mounthaher Khatib, 26, each have young children who suffered for want of food and basic elements of life, and who were traumatized by the terrorists’ bombing of the villages. Although corporate media, when deigning to mention the villages, usually focused on their predominately Shia composition, Sunnis also live in the villages. According to Zeinab, “Sectarianism wasn’t a problem before, we were brothers and sisters, we intermarried with neighbouring villages.”

* Abdul Karim Assad, 7, has painful face disfiguration from a terrorist-fired mortar which burned his face. Under siege at the time, the boy was only treated with basic medical care in a barebones hospital in Zahra’a. The boy is not originally from Nubl, but from Idlib, from which his grandfather fled when terrorists invaded. He is another poster child for the terrorism inflicted upon Syria.

* Boy with early stages of what is believed to be Leishmania, a garbage and sewage-related disease spread by sandfly bites, which causes painful lesions. If not treated, can worsen to permanent facial disfigurement.

* Aleppo’s over 1.5 million residents are depending on trucks from outside of the city to bring in the basics of life. Unable to use the main highway, and now unable to use the paved Ramouseh road, trucks travel an extended distance over many rough dirt roads to enter Aleppo from its north.

* The Aleppo Central Prison, besieged at varying times by terrorists of Ahrar al-Sham, Jabhat al-Nusra, and Da’esh (ISIS) for over 1.5 years, liberated in May 2014. Prisoners fought next to the Syrian Arab Army against the terrorists attacking them. According to al-Akhbar, “830 prisoners died from starvation and tuberculosis” during the siege.

* Gate to Sheikh Najjar Industrial City, a large district whose factories were systematically looted and taken to Turkey. Footage taken in November, 2012, shows large trucks ferrying away equipment and machinery looted by the so-called Free Syrian Army. Thousands of factories have been looted from Aleppo by terrorists occupying industrial districts.

* Until July, 2016, the northern Castello road and areas nearby were occupied by terrorists. Now, the liberated, mostly bumpy, dirt road, is the only way to enter Aleppo.

* Moving along the Castello road, a soldier stops the car to warn, “Don’t be close to the cars around you, leave space.” In case one of our cars is attacked, leaving space minimizes the casualties. In the distance, the wasteland of Bani Zeid’s buildings, destroyed, but no longer occupied by terrorists.

* The former supply route for terrorists occupying areas in northern Aleppo, littered with destroyed terrorsts’ vehicles from the battle to secure Castello road and surrounding areas. While secure, terrorists from areas beyond still fire mortars towards Castello, as was the case on the morning I left Aleppo, when a Syrian soldier waved at cars, urgently telling drivers, “mortars are falling, go quickly.”

* The destruction in Bani Zeid and Lairamoun industrial area was vast, with terrorists holed up in the district since 2012, firing their rockets, missiles, mortars, gas canisters, and explosive bullets on Aleppo civilians from these and other areas they still infest. Fars News reports: “Terrorist groups have been looting machinery and production lines of over 1,000 factories and workshops in al-Lairamoun industrial zone since 2012 and have transferred them to Turkey, the Head of Aleppo chamber of commerce said.”

While the cleanup and rebuilding will be a long process, these liberated districts are at least no longer a source of terrorism. (See “Manufacturers determined to rebuild factories in Aleppo“)

* Building used as a base for terrorists of the 16th Brigades, of the so-called FSA. Barrel lines served as snipers bunkers.

* In terrorist headquarters, writing on one pillar: “Yousef Hayani”. Hayani was leader of the 16th Brigades, of the so-called FSA.

* In liberated north Aleppo districts, in addition to the destruction, sore reminders of the presence of terrorists. This flag is representative of the some worst terrorism the world has known.

* Aleppo civilian who volunteers as a soldier to protect liberated Lairamoun Industrial district. Representative of the defenders of Syria, this man also has three sons in army, and a brother martyred protecting Syria.

* Ahmed likewise sleeps in Lairamoun, protecting it, and has been a volunteer soldier for 4 years. “We were civilians but we volunteered to protect our country.”

* Civil Defense in Aleppo lack proper equipment due to terrorists stealing 12 of their firetrucks and 3 ambulances, and due to the criminal Western sanctions on Syria. The rescuers need small and large fire trucks, ambulances, rescue equipment, and proper masks. One of their team of volunteers, Mohammed Ahmed Dabbish, was killed on August 2 when terrorists attacked their rescue mission with toxic gas.

* Dr. Zaher Buttal, head of the Aleppo Medical Association, confirmed there are over 4,100 registered and active doctors in Aleppo, including nearly 800 specialists doctors and surgeons (see: “Western corporate media ‘disappears’ over 1.5 million Syrians and 4,000 doctors“). “Civilians are targeted. The only aim of terrorists was to kill civilians, especially children. They aren’t attacking the army.” According to Dr. Buttal, since July 31 and as of our August 15 meeting, 143 civilians (including 23 women, 54 children) were killed by terrorists’ attacks on the city.

* The Dabeet maternity hospital, the inside destroyed and outside badly damaged on May 3, 2016, by terrorist rocket fire, is one of numerous hospitals targeted by terrorists in Syria. The May 3 attack killed three women. A week later, the hospital was hit by terrorist mortar fire. Aleppo’s Kindi hospital, destroyed by terrorists, was one of the largest cancer hospitals in the region. “In just the first three years of this war, before ISIS came to Syria, the NATO and Gulf monarchy-backed armed groups had systematically attacked more than two thirds of Syria’s public hospitals, and had murdered, kidnapped or injured more than 300 health workers,” wrote Professor Tim Anderson.

* Small public park in Aziziya. People who are displaced frequent such parks, to get out of the small apartments or government-supplied shelters they live in. On July 22, in another of Aleppo’s parks, “five civilians including a child and a woman were killed and 27 others were injured due to a rocket shell fired by terrorists on the Public Park”, SANA reported.

* Taxi of an Armenian driver who lamented that the war on Syria is sending the country 100 years into the past. This is a commonly expressed sentiment in Syria, whose ancient cities and relics have been destroyed or stolen by terrorists from all factions, whose infrastructure has been systematically targeted by terrorists, and whose economy has been shattered by the combination of the war on Syria and the savage Western sanctions on the people of Syria.

* Items for sale at a roadside shop north of Aleppo. Amid the military style clothing, Syrian flags and other items, are Palestinian pendants and scarves. Western media and deceitful supporters of Palestine have lied for years about the Palestinian-Syrian relationship, ignoring the presence of numerous units of Palestinian soldiers who fight alongside the Syrian Arab Army in defending Syria.

“We didn’t deal with them as refugees, didn’t put them in camps. They were given all their rights and freedom to stay where they want. They have the same rights to free education, health care and professional work. They work like Syrians, and are treated like Syrians, and are considered Syrians.”

Chancellor Merkel's refugee policies have divided the country and the right-wing populist AfD party is rapidly gaining support. Conservatives are calling on Merkel to change course, but she is refusing to admit fallibility.

Terror warning: Germany ‘packed with hundreds of lone wolf ISIS fighters’

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/544680/Terror-Islamic-State-Germany-Thomas-de-Maiziere-ISIS-jihadis-daesh-ISIL-attack

At least 500 Islamic State fanatics are hiding in Germany, ready to strike at any moment, a minister has warned.

Interior minister Thomas de Maiziere revealed there were at lease 520 potential “attackers” waiting to strike with a further 360 “relevant” people known to authorities.

The harrowing warning comes after the country saw a spate of terror attacks including two Islamic State-inspired killings in July.

Mr de Maiziere said: “The terror threat now stems from foreign hit teams as well as fanatical lone wolves in Germany.

"The hit teams are secretly smuggled into Europe and prepare their actions without being noticed, as we saw with the attacks in Paris and Brussels.

"But it's even more difficult to uncover the fanatical lone wolves.”

Despite the efforts from security authorities to hunt down and stop Islamic extremists, Mr de Maiziere believes many more blood-thirsty terrorists are waiting to attack.

He said: “The authorities are assuming there are undiscovered lone wolf terrorists out there."

The concerned minister also called on all Muslims to distance themselves from Islamist terrorism.

He told German newspaper Bild: “It is an abuse of the religion to carry out assassinations in the name of Islam.”

Terror attack rocked Angela Merkel’s country two months ago with a suicide bombing close to a music festival and an axe attack on a commuter train, which saw dozens injured.

Number of potential terrorists in Germany is higher than ever – German interior minister

https://www.rt.com/news/358942-germany-high-number-terrorists/

There are more people in Germany who could potentially commit terrorist acts than ever in the past, German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere told German daily Bild in an interview, adding that the terrorist threat in Germany is “very real.”

More than 520 people in Germany are capable of committing “unexpected” and potentially “high-profile” terrorist attacks inspired by Islamism, de Maiziere said in the interview, published on the eve of the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the US. He also added that the current number of potential terrorists in Germany is at its highest in history.

The minister also warned that, along with potential Islamist attackers, there are also about 360 people who are “closely affiliated” with them and could lend assistance in preparing an attack or “provide logistical support” to the assailants. He added that such people usually belong to potential terrorists’ “inner circle”.

De Maiziere emphasized that “today, the threat comes from both hit-teams [arriving in Germany] from abroad and radicalized lone wolfs in Germany.”

Both threats are now very real,” he added.

He said that the hit-teams “are secretly smuggled into Europe and prepare their actions without being noticed, as we saw with the attacks in Paris and Brussels.”

The minister stressed that the German security services are “working intensively” in order to “keep all potential terrorists in sight,” adding that there have been more investigations and arrests in 2016 than in the last few years.

He also admitted that it is much harder for security services to identify “radicalized lone wolves” than organized hit-teams as they “get radicalized with Islamist propaganda in the Internet or by hate-preachers.”

He warned that, despite all the efforts of security services, there could be as of yet unidentified potential attackers.

One ‘should not suspect all Muslims’

At the same time, de Maiziere stressed that Germans should not suspect or blame all Muslims. He also said that Islamists are exploiting religion in “justifying” killing by Islamic beliefs.

Although Islamist terrorism “has something to do with Islam,” Islam “by no means carries the seeds of terrorism,” the minister said, as quoted by Der Spiegel. He also added that most victims of terrorist attacks are actually Muslims.

De Maiziere also addressed German Muslims in his interview and called on Muslim communities to “notice if some particular persons are in the process of radicalization and take timely measures.” He also urged them to distance themselves from Islamist terrorists.

The minister’s comments come as a German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees advisory agency says that a growing number of girls and young women are being radicalized in Germany. In 2015, a half of those radicalized were girls while previously they only constituted 25 percent of all cases, Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung reported, citing data from the advisory agency.

The younger girls are radicalized year after year, according to Michael Kiefer from the Institute of Islamic Theology of the University of Osnabrueck, who told Der Spiegel that “13-year-old girls are among those, who are radicalized.”

This summer, Germany witnessed two major terrorist attacks. On July 24, a 27-year-old Syrian refugee, who had pledged allegiance to the leader of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), detonated a bomb in the Bavarian town of Ansbach, killing himself and injuring 15 people.

On 18 July 2016, a 17-year-old refugee injured five people when he attacked passengers with a knife and hatchet on a train near Wuerzburg. Following the attacks, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the EU needs stricter border controls and special warning systems to properly process the migrant influx.

However, Merkel still refuses to change her welcoming refugee policy that has been criticized by both her political rivals and allies. In the meantime, the right wing populist anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany party (AfD) beat Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in her home state and is now represented in eight out of 16 regional parliaments. Merkel’s popularity rating continues to plunge at the same time.

China, Russia naval drill in South China Sea to begin Monday

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-southchinasea-china-russia-idUSKCN11H051

China and Russia will hold eight days of naval drills in the South China Sea off southern China's Guangdong province starting from Monday, China's navy said.

The exercises come at a time of heightened tension in the contested waters after an arbitration court in The Hague ruled in July that China did not have historic rights to the South China Sea and criticized its environmental destruction there.

China rejected the ruling and refused to participate in the case.

The "Joint Sea-2016" exercise will feature surface ships, submarines, fixed-wing aircraft, ship-borne helicopters and marines, the Chinese navy said in a statement on Sunday on its official microblog.

The two countries will carry out defense, rescue and anti-submarine operations, as well as "island seizing" and other activities, it added.

Marines will participate in live-fire drills, island defense and landing operations in what will be the largest operation ever taken together by the two countries' navies, the statement said.

China announced that it had called the "routine" naval exercise in July, saying the drills were aimed at strengthening cooperation and not aimed at any other country.

China and Russia are veto-wielding members of the U.N. Security Council, and have held similar views on many major issues such as the crisis in Syria, often putting them at odds with the United States and Western Europe.

Last year, they held joint military drills in the Sea of Japan and the Mediterranean.

China claims most of the South China Sea, through which more than $5 trillion of trade moves annually. Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam have rival claims.

China has repeatedly blamed the United States for stoking tension in the region through its military patrols, and of taking sides in the dispute.

The United States has sought to assert its right to freedom of navigation in the South China Sea with its patrols and denies taking sides in the territorial disputes.

Russia has been a strong backer of China's stance on the arbitration case, which was brought by the Philippines.

China Intensely Investing in Creating Flexible and Capable Airborne Forces

https://sputniknews.com/military/20160911/1045197033/china-airborne-forces.html

Airborne forces are an important element of the Chinese military and Beijing will continue to invest in their development and upgrade their combat capabilities.

China is pursuing its global interests, including placing focus on expanding its international military presence, as part of its "active defense" doctrine.

Traditionally, Beijing used to rely on its ground forces, but over the recent years it has been heavily investing in the navy and the air force. Now, China is enhancing its airborne forces, a report by the American think-tank Stratfor read.

According to the article, having capable airborne forces is of strategic importance for China. China is one of the largest countries in the world and has a number of remote places along its border. Moreover, China is surrounded by potential flashpoints, including at the border with India and North Korea.

"China depends on flexible and mobile forces that can quickly deploy wherever needed, whether to counter an armed invasion or respond to a natural disaster. Airborne forces, which are lightly equipped, well trained and highly mobile, are uniquely suited to that role," the article read.

In addition, airborne forces are important for global missions, including peacekeeping activities and counterterrorism operations.

Currently, China has capable personnel in the elite 15th Airborne Corps. It composes three divisions of 30,000 troops operating under the aegis of the air force. They are some of the best trained troops with the Chinese military. They are trained for a wide range of activities, including parachute jumps and air assault.

In addition, in order to enhance its capabilities, the 15th Airborne Corps received the most advanced weapons available to the Chinese military, including modern combat armored vehicles, according to Stratfor.

However, Chinese airborne troops do not have sufficient transportation capabilities. There is a limited number of Il-76 and Y-8 transport aircraft in their disposal, the article read.

"To address this problem, China has been investing heavily in its strategic transport fleet over the past few years. Soon, Beijing will begin to reap the rewards. China, for instance, recently began producing two new indigenously developed transport aircraft, the Shaanxi Y-9 medium-range transport and the Xian Y-20 strategic airlifter," the article read.

"The Shaanxi Y-9 and Xian Y-20 will augment the lift capacity available to the 15th Airborne Corps in the years ahead," it added.

Moreover, China and Ukraine reportedly signed an agreement in August on the delivery of an Antonov An-225, the world’s largest transport aircraft.

"Beijing's emphasis on its airborne forces, particularly its 15th Airborne Corps, reflects its understanding that its changing military demands require more flexible and mobile power projection capability," it concluded.

Syria: Wounded Nusra Terrorists Taken to Israeli Hospitals

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950621000910

"First, Israeli warplanes bombed Syrian government's positions near Quneitra to back the terrorists of Fatah al-Sham (the newly-formed al-Qaeda-linked terrorists group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) who had attacked the Syrian army positions to prevail over the government's position," the Arabic service of RT reported.

"After Fatah al-Sham's attacks were repelled by the Syrian soldiers, seven Israeli ambulances entered the battlefield and transferred a number of wounded terrorists to Israeli hospitals in the occupied Golan Heights," RT added.

On Saturday, the Israeli air force violated the Syrian airspace again and launched airstrikes on an army base in Quneitra province hours after Fatah al-Sham Front started a massive raid in the same province in Southwestern Syria.

The Israeli army also targeted a Syrian military unit in the Golan Heights last week after it alleged that the army had fired several mortal rounds at targets in Israel.

Fatah al-Sham kicked off a new wave of heavy clashes with the Syrian army in Quneitra province.

Syrian Army, Air Force Hit Jeish Al-Fatah's Defense Lines in Idlib

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950621000944

The Syrian army troops, in a coordinated operation with Syrian warplanes, struck Jeish al-Fatah's strongholds in the villages of Sarjeh, al-Moqbeleh and al-Najiyeh and the regions of Ariha and Jisr al-Shughour, ending in destruction of terrorists' bases and armored vehicles in large scale.

Also on Saturday, Syrian army troops alongside popular forces continued to push back militants in Northeastern Lattakia and won back the province's highway to the bordering province of Idlib after years of battles.

Syrian government forces, who seized back several villages and hilltops bordering the Idlib province in Northeastern territories of Lattakia, took full control over the Idlib-Lattakia highway after several years since the war on terrorism started.

Syria: Ahrar Al-Sham Vows to Violate Ceasefire

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950621001165

"Ahrar al-Sham will never remain committed to this ceasefire," al-Muhajar said.

The Ahrar Al-Sham spokesman said the ceasefire is “unacceptable” because it strengthens the forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.

"This agreement is only between the US and Russia and it is not related to us and we don't discuss it," he added.

Earlier on Sunday, a political analyst said that there is no guarantee that the long-awaited deal Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry have inked to put an end to violence in Syria, would be abided by militant groups backed by the US and some other foreign countries.

Political analyst and journalist Vanessa Beeley said that militants backed by the United States, the European Union, NATO and some Arab states are the "main stumbling blocks" when it comes to implementing the new agreement, Sputnik reported.

The secession of hostilities is expected to enter into force on September 12.

"Historically, again, the reason that the ceasefires have failed is because the terrorists have not respected" them, the journalist, who recently visited Syria. Beeley cited two villages in Idlib, Kafarya and Foua, besieged since March 2015 as an example.

"There has never been a respect of the ceasefire there," she said.

"The shelling of civilian houses has continued through all of the ceasefires and largely been ignored by Western media. And absolutely no humanitarian aid has been allowed into Kafarya and Foua since March 2015 except for a couple of very poorly equipped UN convoys that made it through."

Both Lavrov and Kerry emphasized that the new deal will only work if all stakeholders involved in the Syrian conflict will fulfil their part of the agreement. America's top diplomat said that the anti-Syrian government groups "have indicated they're prepared" to meet the "standards that we have established."
