On November 5, the international Blue Flag 2017 aerial exercise took off in the Israeli Air Force’s Ovda airbase in southern Israel. The exercise is the largest aerial military drill in the history of Israel, according to Israeli sources.

The US, Greece, Poland, France, Italy and Germany and an unnamed country are participating in the aerial exercise along with Israel. It’s the first time India takes part in the Blue Flag exercise.

The Israeli Army announced that the aerial exercise is aimed at improving the technical abilities of the participated countries in order to strengthen the “diplomatic cooperation between the countries.” The Israeli Army added that the countries will “practice different situations and scenarios,” during the exercise.

The aerial exercise will last for 11 days, and over one thousand technical, commanders and pilots will take part in it. During the exercise the involved countries will face the Israeli Air Force “Red Squadron” that will represent the virtual enemy.

The first Blue Flag aerial exercise was organized back in 2013 by the Israeli Army, also in Ovda airbase. In 2015, the exercise took place for the second time.

Through such international military exercises the Israeli Army work to maintain its upper hand in the region, and echoes the political and military strength of Israel in the same time.

A great video of Russian military power in Russian military exercise. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (Russian: Вооружённые Си́лы Росси́йской Федера́ции, tr. Vooruzhonnije Síly Rossíyskoj Federátsii) are the military service of Russia, established after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. On 7 May 1992, Boris Yeltsin signed a presidential decree establishing the Russian Ministry of Defence and placing all Soviet Armed Forces troops on the territory of the Russian SFSR under Russian control.[5] The commander-in-chief of the armed forces is the president of Russia. Although the Russian armed forces were formed in 1992, the Russian military dates its roots back to the times of the Kievan Rus'.

[quote author= Pashalis]In short; the US seems to be cornered in syria and about to loose it completely, and there isn't much they can do about it. Psychopaths don't like that at all.

That’s right. In their wishful thinking they probably believed that they can, even to this day stop the total liberation of Syria and somehow turn the tide. I can imagine that these Deep State figures will reach a new level of hysteria and insanity when they finally realize that they lost against Russia in Syria. It surely isn’t going to get pretty.

The U.S. narrative for illegally occupying Syria is falling apart. This latest "admission" throws the dramatic "Mother-of-all-Bombs" scenario in their face!

On October 19, the US State Department finally admitted that the rebels associated with the Fateh al-Sham (formerly known as al-Nusra Front) and Daesh had used chemical weapons in Syria.

US-Led Coalition Declines to Comment on News of Chemical Weapons in Deir ez-Zor
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201711061058849632-syria-chemical-weapons/

The US-led coalition against the Daesh terrorist organization does not comment on the reports by the Syrian army regarding their findings of chemical weapons in the Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor, a press office of the Combined Joint Task Force — Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) told Sputnik on Monday.

"Please contact the Assad regime or Russian Federation officials to answer your question about this alleged violation of the Law of Armed Conflict," the press office said.

The CJTF-OIR added that Daesh terrorists have used "a wide range of barbaric tactics over the past two years, including use of civilians as human shields, use of chemical weapons, use of non-combatant citizens' homes to use as fighting positions, occupying schools and using them as weapons storage facilities, and converting mosques and hospitals into military bases for terrorist operations."

We are working with our Coalition partners to defeat Daesh and prevent them from repeating these egregious violations of the Law of Armed Conflict," the press office stated.

Sputnik correspondent reported on Sunday that the Syrian army had found a car packed with explosives, including chemical substances in Deir ez-Zor. One of the explosives was marked with an inscription that it contained chemical elements, which can only be used in laboratories.

The Syrian Armed Forces General Staff announced that Deir ez-Zor was completely liberated from Daesh.

Syrian news agency SANA has reported that terrorists of the rebranded al-Nusra Front have chemical weapons, which they are hiding in the Syrian province of Idlib.

Al-Nusra Terrorists Reportedly Hide Chemical Weapons in Idlib Governorate
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201710291058641945-al-nusra-terrorists-chemical-weapons-idlib/

The agency cited its local sources as saying that the toxic materials are kept in numerous depots in a number of villages and towns, specifically in Ghazleh and Ma’arat Misrin, nine kilometers north from the city of Idlib.

The sources alleged that some of the toxic substances have been made locally, while other chemical weapons were manufactured abroad, specifically in the US.

The informants also pointed out that the terrorist groups operating in Ma’arat Misrin are able to manufacture missiles capable of delivering the toxic chemicals up to 15 km.

The agency warns that al-Nusra terrorists might try to use the chemical weapons against civilians in an attempt to further accuse the Syrian Arab Army.

On October 19, the US admitted that al-Nusra Front terrorists, who control Syria's Idlib Governorate through the umbrella terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and is still thought to be an affiliate of al-Qaeda, "not only have, but use chemical weapons against civilians."

On April 4, the Syrian opposition claimed that 80 people had been killed in a chemical weapons attack in Idlib province, and 200 more were wounded.

They used it as pretext to accuse the Syrian government troops of this attack, which however rejected all the accusations and blamed the militants instead.

The casualties were inflicted as the Islamic State launched a brief counter-offensive east of the T2 Pumping Station on Tuesday, targeting positions manned by Hezbollah and Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in order to prevent a looming pro-government assault on the ISIS stronghold of Abu Kamal.

Although the SAA and Hezbollah did manage to take out the vanguard suicide bombers before they did any damage, ISIS launched a total of four anti-tank missiles towards government positions, killing some Hezbollah members that were peaking over the trenches to shoot at the incoming ISIS convoy.

A terrorist group affiliated to the ISIL has set up a military training camp in Southwestern Dara'a near the border with Israel, well-informed sources said.

ISIL-affiliated Jeish Khalid Bin Walid terrorist group has been training its gunmen in a camp known as Abu Hashim in Southwestern Dara'a a few kilometers away from the border with Israel. Abu Hashim was a regional ISIL emir that was assassinated last year.

ISIL is in control of a small pocket of some 20 villages and towns that neighbor the border with both Israel and Jordan.

People in the occupied parts of Syria’s Golan Heights held a protest to condemn what they called Israel’s support for anti-Damascus terrorists.

The demonstrators accused Israel of backing the al-Qaeda-linked Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board), during its assault on the government-held town of Hader in Quneitra province. Israeli forces were deployed to the area to disperse the protesters.

Military helicopters of the US-led coalition carried out another heliborne operation in Southeastern Deir Ezzur to evacuate senior commanders of the ISIL terrorist group from the region, local sources said on Tuesday.

US Army Continues Heliborne Operation to Take ISIL Commanders Away from Deir Ezzur
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960816001106

The sources confirmed that US helicopters transferred several ISIL commanders from the town of al-Mayadeen before the launch of the Syrian army operation.

"American military aviation first maneuvered near a farm in al-Mayadeen region. Then (the aviation) launched an airstrike, we tried to hide and saw several US helicopters. There were foreign ISIL commanders on the ground, who were waiting for them next to their headquarters… The helicopters took them out of Mayadeen," Muhammad Awad Hussein, a local shepherd, said.

He further said that "… first there was the sound of a blast followed by a massive strike; later the US helicopters came and took the ISIL leaders after which the airstrikes ceased."

A high-ranking Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) official said on Monday that the US continued to supply them with arms and delivered 120 trucks loaded with heavy armament and armored vehicles for the Deir Ezzur operation.

"The US has supplied us with Hummer armored vehicles and heavy armament for the Deir Ezzur operation, including missiles, infra-red guidance missiles, machine guns, mine throwers, Kalashnikov assault rifles and other ammunition," the SDF source told Sputnik Turkiye on condition of anonymity.

According to the high-ranking official, the armaments and vehicles have been brought from the territory of Northern Iraq through the Semelka checkpoint into Rojava, the territory where the Syrian Kurds live. From there, the trucks with weaponry left for the territories which have been cleaned from ISIL to the North of Deir Ezzur.

The total number of trucks amounted to 120; the source, however said that they need more.

"We are advancing, our forces need to operate in the areas of combat and we do need armored vehicles. We have lost many fighters who were killed in mortar shelling by ISIL terrorists because they did not have armor protection," he explained.

He further elaborated that ISIL terrorists use sniper rifles and mine throwers. If SDF fighters had enough of armored vehicles and heavy weaponry, there would have been a lot less victims. However the US officers are there on the ground and have a chance to assess the situation themselves. They promised to meet the demands of SDF in additional armaments, he concluded.

The looters precisely named the stores being plundered and pinpointed the location; namely near Omar Mosque. This more likely prove they are locals of the city.

Hundreds – if not thousands – of Arab tribesmen have joined the predominantly-Kurdish SDF in order to fight the Islamic State in Raqqa. However, both Arab and Kurdish militants were widely accused for looting and theft.

The US-backed militia took over Raqqa after an evacuation deal with ISIS militants following months-long battles which turned the northern Syrian city into ruins and rubble.

US Justice Department’s probe into a corruption scandal revolving around an Asian defense contractor has expanded to include 60 admirals and hundreds of officers with the US Seventh Fleet, which is going through turmoil after deadly ship collisions.

60 US Navy Admirals Snared in ‘Fat Leonard’ Corruption Scandal
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960816001117

The Navy confirmed it has been reviewing the conduct of 440 active duty and retired personnel for possible violations of military law or federal ethics rules in their dealing with Leonard Glenn Francis, a Singapore-based maritime tycoon known colloquially as “Fat Leonard.” Among those investigated are 60 current and former admirals, RT reported.

The Justice Department, according to the Washington Post, handed them the cases of certain individuals “who did not meet the threshold for prosecution in civilian courts, but may have committed offenses under the military justice system.”

That is double the number of admirals the Navy said were under investigation last year. There are about 210 admirals presently on active duty.

More than half of those under review, 230 people, are not considered guilty of misconduct, and some were found to have had little or no contact with Francis, the Navy said. The Navy said the names of those under review have been kept secret to avoid compromising the ongoing case.

The release of such information...would likely reveal sensitive details about the breadth and scope of the criminal investigation and pending cases,” Commander Mike Kafka, a Navy spokesman, said in statement.

So far the Navy has charged five people with crimes under military law, none of them admirals.

Most of the flag officers are suspected of attending feasts at Asia’s best restaurants at the expense of Francis, who made a fortune supplying US Navy vessels in Pacific ports from Brisbane, Australia to Vladivostok, Russia. Francis was notorious for hosting boozy after-dinner parties, often with prostitutes, that sometimes lasted for days, according to federal court records.

Federal prosecutors say that in exchange, the officers provided Francis with classified or inside information that allowed his firm, Glenn Defense Marine Asia (GDMA), to extort nearly $35 million from the Navy. The leaked data includes ship movements and confidential contract information. In some cases, commanders steered ships to ports where GDMA could charge fake tariffs and fees, according to prosecutors cited by AP. (Article continues.)

Syria has changed since this thread started, yet you have to wonder with statements like this from the Canadian Minister over a 'misstep' tweet from her department. Note, I did not know that Syria recently signed on to the Paris Accord, and this is the Ministers direct forte (Minister of Environment and Climate Change portfolio);

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/catherine-mckenna-syria-paris-1.4392374

Catherine McKenna takes responsibility for tweet praising Syria

Federal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna says a tweet from her official departmental account praising Syria for joining the Paris climate agreement was "completely unacceptable" and she takes responsibility.

"Canada Salutes Nicaragua and Syria for joining on to the Paris Agreement! Global #ClimateAction. #COP23," the tweet, since deleted, said.

Nicaragua and Syria were the final two countries to sign on to the climate accord, leaving the U.S. as the only United Nations-member state not supporting the agreement.

The tweet attracted dozens of complaints from Twitter users, many of them pointing to the widely suspected use of chemical weapons by the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The celebratory Nicaragua and Syria tweet was sent from @ec_minister. Its description says it is run by Environment and Climate Change Canada, Parks Canada and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency.

McKenna has a separate personal account.

"The tweet was completely unacceptable. It was from my departmental Twitter account. We took action right away as soon as we saw it. Look, I'm a human rights lawyer I know more than anyone that the murderous Assad regime and the actions that they're committing, the atrocities against their own people, are completely unacceptable," she said.

"I'm the minister, I take responsibility.

"I can assure everyone I will not be meeting with Syria at the Bonn climate talks that I'm going to next week."

'Your public praise is misplaced'

McKenna's critics included Conservative deputy leader Lisa Raitt.

"Hey @ec_minister - this ... is actually what your gov't should be saying about Syria," a tweet from Raitt's account said, linking to a U.S. State Department tweet about chemical weapons use in Syria.

Hey @ec_minister - thisis actually what your gov’t should be saying about Syria. Your public praise is misplaced. https://t.co/rDrOffdjay
— @lraitt

Jason Kenney, leader of Alberta's United Conservative Party, also weighed in, calling the 195-nation pact "empty virtue signalling."

Trudeau Govt in one tweet.
Butcher Assad: never mind that unpleasantness about gassing kids. You've joined us in empty virtue signalling! pic.twitter.com/bMjC0psYRE
— @jkenney

On Wednesday, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer called the Syria tweet "unfortunate."

"I can understand how that kind of thing can happen. It's unfortunate. I don't think it reflects well on the department. Certainly not something I think Canadians want to see, government officials congratulating countries led by dictators."

Forgetting the climate change angle here, there is no surprise, nothing whatsoever has changed since the beginning of the war until this time in Canadian politics with the unified party members. While this legal lawyer of human rights bemoans Syria's so called atrocities she must be comfortable with the knowledge (if she knows, and she should) that her Parliament condoned, and even participated in the Syrian slaughter through proxy, military and by intelligence means; Libya notwithstanding.

The army forces attacked ISIL positions in Akash oilfield in the Southern parts of Albu Kamal on Thursday, retaking control of the region only after a few hours of fighting.

In a relevant development on Wednesday, the Syrian army troops stormed ISIL's positions in the outskirts of Deir Ezzur city, laying siege on the terrorists in their large stronghold North of city.

The army men clashed fiercely with ISIL in Huwieja Kateh region, hitting their strongholds hard from the Eastern and Southern directions.

In the meantime, the army's artillery and missile units shelled heavily ISIL's positions in the region.

Ankara has ordered transfer of the Chinese terrorists in Idlib to the regions controlled by Turkey-backed militants in Northeastern Aleppo, media reports said on Thursday.

Turkey Orders Transfer of Chinese Terrorists from Idlib to Northern Aleppo
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960818000335

Syria's al-Watan newspaper quoted sources close to the terrorists in Aleppo and Idlib as saying that Turkey has ordered the Turkestani terrorists to transfer the family members of Chinese Uyghuri militants who are almost 3,000 people from Idlib, specially Jisr al-Shaqour, to areas in Aleppo and Jarabulus which are controlled by the Turkey-affiliated forces.

The sources explained that Turkey has embarked on the move for the fear of possible reactions by the local people who are enraged by the terrorists' repeated attacks on infrastructures in the province.

The Chinese terrorists have recently intensified attacks on railways, infrastructures, historical monuments and properties of the local people to sell them in the market.

In a relevant development on Wednesday, the Turkish army dispatched a long convoy of military vehicles to the Northwestern province of Idlib.

Sources said that the Turkish Army convoy reportedly entered Syria’s Idlib province via Hatay Province, adding that the convoy included several armored vehicles and military personnel.

They added that the Turkish military convoy further headed towards the Southwestern territories of Aleppo, where they deployed in an area close to the Afrin Canton. The Afrin Canton is controlled by the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).

A senior ISIL commander, responsible for financial affairs, fled Deir Ezzur province in Syria to Turkey after the Syrian army intensified operations to liberate the remaining areas in the region.

Notorious ISIL Commander Flees Deir Ezzur to Turkey

Media activists reported on Thursday that Adnan al-Jawar Fakhz al-Da'eiji, one of the senior ISIL commanders responsible for all financial affairs related to oil trade in the region, escaped from Northern Syria along with a large amount of money.

They added that he has safely passed through all the Free Syrian Army (FSA) terrorist group's checkpoints in the region, saying that he has possibly fled to Turkey.

Al-Javar was among the first terrorists who joined the ISIL in Deir Ezzur and was considered as the right hand of the ISIL top commander in Eastern Deir Ezzur, Abu Ali al-Sha'eiti.

The Syrian Army troops stormed ISIL's positions in the outskirts of Deir Ezzur city on Wednesday, laying siege on the terrorists in their large stronghold North of city.

Syrian troops supported by Russia’s Aerospace Forces have captured the last terrorist stronghold of the Islamic State (IS, terror group, outlawed in Russia), the city of Abu Kamal, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said at the military board of Russia and Belarus.

Commander of the Russian group in Syria, Colonel-General Sergey Surovikin, reported on the city’s liberation during a video conference at the beginning of the board’s meeting.

“Work is in progress on demining Deir ez-Zor and al-Mayadeen. Today we started demining and clearing Abu Kamal. That’s the last major stronghold where a fairly large group of terrorists was concentrated. Some of them were wiped out, while some others crossed the Euphrates and are moving northwards. I hope they will receive a worthy ‘welcome’ there,” Shoigu said.

“Convey our congratulations to our Syrian counterparts. I congratulate you on the successful completion of the operation that was underway over the past four days. The Russian Aerospace Forces showed all their skills, and, most importantly, accomplished all the missions they were tasked with amid poor weather conditions,” Shoigu stressed.

Ankara believes that the Syrian Kurds' YPG movement that is fighting Daesh in the country is linked to the PKK, banned in Turkey.

Turkey expects that the United States will stop supplying Syria's Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) with weapons after the defeat of Daesh, according to Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.

We also received a promise from Pence to keep better track of weapons provided to the YPG. … Pence said the US understands Turkey's sensitivity about the YPG; their partnership is temporary and will last only a little longer now that the Raqqa operation is complete," Yildirim said, as quoted by Daily Sabah newspaper.

ISIL's Chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is still alive, an Arab media outlet reported on Friday, adding that the terrorist group's ring leader has been sighted by eyewitnesses in one of the battlefields in Southeastern Deir Ezzur.

Report: ISIL's Baghdadi Still Alive, Seen in Eastern Syria
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960819000530

The Arabic-language Elam al-Harbi reported that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the commander of the ISIL terrorist group, has been sighted alive in one of the battlefields near the newly-freed town of Albu Kamal at the border with Iraq.

No more details have been released about the report. Contradictory reports have surfaced the media on the fate of Al-Baghdad in the last two years, while some claim that he has been killed in attacks in Iraq or Syria, others say that he is still alive and on the move.

The army took back control of Albu Kamal at the border with Iraq in Deir Ezzur province on Thursday.

The army soldiers, supported by their allies, broke the ISIL's defense lines in Albu Kamal in Eastern Deir Ezzur, entering the town and liberating the ISIL's last major bastion in Syria after heavy clashes with the terrorists.

They immediately started cleansing operations in the city after winning back its control.

The Pentagon has told the families of the four US soldiers killed in Niger that they’ll have to wait until at least January for the investigation into the deaths of their sons, fathers and brothers to conclude.

Investigation Into Niger Ambush Won’t Conclude Until January at the Earliest
https://sputniknews.com/africa/201711091058968153-niger-ambush-investigation-january-conclusion/

The four US soldiers were killed alongside four Nigerien troops at the beginning of October on the border between Niger and Mali. They were among a patrol of 30 Nigerien soldiers being accompanied and advised by 12 Americans.

The Pentagon's prime suspect is a new branch of Daesh that has just begun to operate in Mali, which has been waging a war against Islamic militants since 2012.

The Pentagon released a Wednesday statement regarding the ambush, claiming that the families of the killed soldiers shouldn't expect a full report on the circumstances of the deaths until January at the earliest.

An Army investigation team led by US Africa Command (AFRICOM) Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Roger Cloutier has been deployed to the scene of the ambush to gather information. Cloutier will also travel to the US and Europe over the course of his investigation.

Once the investigation is completed, briefing the families of the fallen will be the department's first priority," the Pentagon said in their statement. They added that they're "committed to a thorough and detailed investigation" into the deaths of the four soldiers.

Over a month after the October 4 ambush, a more complete picture of what transpired has begun to emerge — but many details remain contradictory or unconfirmed. For instance, one of the killed soldiers, Sgt. La David Johnson, was separated from the rest of the squad during the battle and was found dead almost two days later.

The Pentagon has not officially explained why this was the case. But Sgt. Abdou Kané, a Nigerien soldier who was injured during the ambush, told the Washington Post that part of the American force was separated from the main body during the fighting, which would explain how Johnson ended up miles from the site of the attack.

Kané also contradicted the Pentagon's previous claim that the US troops were accompanying the Nigeriens for a simple reconnaissance mission with a low risk of enemy engagement. "The mission was to go to Mali to capture the terrorists and bring them back," Kané said — and if his statement is accurate, then the Americans were violating the rules of engagement.

Villagers in the remote Niger village of Tongo Tongo say that the body of U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson was found bound and wounded in a way that suggested he was captured and executed by militants.

Villagers say US soldier in Niger was bound, apparently executed
http://thehill.com/homenews/news/359883-villagers-say-us-soldier-in-niger-was-bound-and-apparently-executed

The Washington Post reports that Johnson's body was found roughly a mile from the ambush site where three other U.S. soldiers were killed by suspected Islamic State militants in October.

Johnson's arms were tied behind his back, he had been stripped of his shoes and a gaping wound was found on the back of his head, suggesting that the militants had captured Johnson and executed him, according to the report.

“The back of his head was a mess, as if they had hit him with something hard, like a hammer,” said village chief Mounkaila Alassane. “They took his shoes. He was wearing only socks.”

The operation in Niger that resulted in the death of Johnson and three other soldiers has come under intense scrutiny as to how U.S. troops were ambushed on a mission where risk of enemy contact was said to be low. Five Nigerien soldiers were also killed in the firefight.

Pentagon officials said this week that the investigation into the deadly ambush is expected to be completed in January 2018. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford has pledged an investigation and transparency into the matter.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was intercepted with Patriot missiles while on a reconnaissance mission over the demilitarized areas of the Golan Heights, claimed by7 both Israel and Syria.

Israeli Forces Shoot Down Drone on Syrian Border – IDF
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201711111059008057-israel-uav-idf-patriot-border/

The unmanned aerial vehicle was manufactured in Russia, representative of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Jonathan Conricus told Sputnik.

"Moments ago, the IDF used a Patriot Missile to intercept a UAV that attempted to infiltrate Israeli airspace in the Golan Heights," the IDF wrote on Twitter.

However, the military did not provide any further information regarding what kind of UAV was used. Several drones were shot down over the Golan Heights earlier, some of which were manufactured in Iran and used by Hezbollah, RIA Novosti reported.

"We have determined that it belonged to Syria. Earlier I told you that it was produced in Russia but additional checks showed that we cannot confirm this information," Conricus said.

On Saturday morning, a surface-to-air missile intercepted a Syrian surveillance drone that was spotted approaching the Israeli-controlled side of the Golan Heights according to a spokesman of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/video-israel-defense-forces-take-syrian-army-drone-golan-heights/

The drone, reportedly operated by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), then fell down over the demilitarized zone around 11am on the western outskirts of the predominately Druze town of Hader where tit-for-tat clashes took place last week.

The IDF spokesperson added that the drone was downed by a MIM-104 Patriot missile. Footage of the missile flying mid-air has been obtained by Al-Masdar News:

Following the incident, Israeli TV channel 10 said that the SAA drone never actually entered Israeli territory on the occupied side of the Golan Heights but was downed as a precautionary measure to deter Syrian government forces from spying on IDF positions across the border.

Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump during their brief meeting on the sidelines of the APEC summit approved a joint statement on Syria.

Putin and Trump Confirm Commitment to Syria's Integrity, Defeating Daesh
https://sputniknews.com/world/201711111059004094-putin-trump-syria/

The presidents of Russia and the US reaffirmed their commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and called on the parties to the conflict there to participate in the Geneva political process, and reiterated the need to destroy Daesh, according to a joint statement they issued following a meeting in Da Nang, where the APEC summit is taking place.

According to the joint statement on Syria, "the presidents agreed to maintain the existing military communication channels to ensure the security of US and Russian armed forces, as well as to prevent dangerous incidents involving the forces of allies fighting the Daesh terror group."

The two leaders have agreed that "there is no military solution to the conflict in Syria. They confirmed that the ultimate political solution to the conflict must be forged through the Geneva process pursuant to [UN Security Council resolution] UNSCR 2254."

The document was prepared by the experts of the two countries and agreed on by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US State Secretary Rex Tillerson on Saturday.

The Russian president has met briefly with his US counterpart on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit that is currently underway in Vietnam.

Putin: Absence of Separate Meeting with Trump Shows US-Russia Ties in Crisis
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960820001125

Commenting on the meeting, Vladimir Putin said that the absence of a separate meeting "shows that relations between Russia and the United States have not yet overcome their state of crisis", Sputnik reported.

Putin went on to note that their teams weren’t able to coordinate a bilateral meeting due to scheduling conflicts and conference commitments.

However, as the Russian president remarked, "nothing terrible has happened" and the leaders managed to "discuss everything they wanted."

"We have a normal dialogue [with Trump]. Unfortunately, there was not enough time for us to talk in more detail about the whole complex of our ties, and there are issues we could talk on regarding the cooperation in the areas of security and the economy, of which there is practically zero today," Putin added.

Putin went on to say that Moscow is ready to "turn this page" and engage in relations which will see the cooperation on issues that are of interest to both the people of Russia and the US, adding that Moscow would like to boost economic ties with Washington.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has commented on NATO's increased activity near Russia's borders.

NATO Developing Nuclear Weapons Use at Russian Border - Russian Defense Minister
https://sputniknews.com/europe/201711101058983951-nato-nuclear-shoigu-weapon/

"All the buzz created by Western media around the "Zapad-2017" drills is just a cover for the increased activity of NATO forces near Russian and Belarusian borders," Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has said.

According to the minister, NATO was developing ways of using nuclear weapons.

The statement of the top official comes amid the recent decision of the NATO defense ministers to establish two more commands, thus improving troop movement in Europe.

Zapad Drills - Several eastern NATO member states have repeatedly voiced concerns over the Zapad-2017 military drills that were held on September 14-20 in Russian and Belarus, claiming that Russian troops, deployed in Belarus for the exercise, might stay in the country after the conclusion of the drills, thus, allegedly posing a threat to threat security.

The Russian and Belarusian officials have repeatedly refuted the allegations, saying that the planned drills were purely defensive and posed no threat to Eastern European states. In addition, Russia and Belarus invited NATO experts and foreign journalists to observe the drills.

When commenting on the NATO member-states' reaction to the planned drills, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the increasing military presence of NATO in Eastern Europe went unnoticed amid groundless criticism of the Russian-Belarusian Zapad-2017 military exercises.

Syrian ambassador to the UN slammed the West for supplying Israel with nuclear materials and know-how, calling the regime's nuclear capability a threat to the Middle East security.

Syria Slams West for Supplying Nuclear Materials to Israel
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960820000338

Bashar al-Jafari noted, during a UN General Assembly session on Friday, that the West enabled Israel to possess nuclear weapons by supplying the regime with nuclear materials and technology, including German submarines capable of launching nuclear missiles delivered to Israel for free, press tv reported.

Al-Jafari accused the West of turning a blind eye to Israel’s possession of nuclear weapons which he said violated international nuclear treaties.

The Syrian diplomat argued that Israel’s refusal to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) proves that Tel Aviv continues the development of its military nuclear capability in the absence of any international supervision.

Israel is believed to be the sole possessor of a nuclear arsenal in the Middle East with more than 200 undeclared nuclear warheads.

Tel Aviv has rejected global calls to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and does not allow international inspectors to observe its controversial nuclear program. The clandestine nuclear activities were uncovered when whistle-blower Mordechai Vanunu, originally a technician at the Dimona nuclear facility, handed overwhelming evidence of Israel’s nuclear program to Britain’s Sunday Times in 1986.

It is believed that the nuclear site is home to Israel's nuclear weapons.

The Syrian Army troops have been utilizing a cutting-edged grenade launcher manufactured in Russia in war on terrorists across the country, a media outlet reported on Saturday.

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960820001071

The Arabic-language website of Russia's state news agency, Sputnik, reported that the Damascus army has used the AGS-17 Plamya, a Soviet-designed automatic grenade launcher, in the battlefields across the country.

It further said that the AGS-17 is capable of destroying enemy targets from 1,700 meters in distance, adding that the grenade launcher has recently been mounted on armored and normal vehicles of the Syrian army.

Sputnik went on to say that the AGS-17 was previously used by the army's elite forces, but now, even the ordinary infantries are also equipped with the weapon.

Gaps have been significantly widened among the members of Nouralddeen al-Zinki and Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board) after a recent set of clashes among the two rival terrorist groups in Aleppo and Idlib provinces in Northwestern Syria, militant-affiliated websites reported on Saturday.

Gaps, Disunity Growing among Terrorists amid Intensified Infighting in Idlib, Aleppo
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960820000881

The websites reported that al-Farouq Brigade, one of the terrorist groups affiliated to the Al-Nusra Front, said in a statement on Friday that it cut relations with the Al-Nusra.

The statement came after Al-Nusra called on its affiliated groups to prepare for an imminent attack on Nouralddeen al-Zinki.

In the meantime, almost 200 fighters of al-Zinki have declared neutrality and defected their faction after the terrorist group and Al-Nusra engaged in fierce clashes in Western Aleppo.

Relevant reports said on Friday that the Al-Zinki militants accused Al-Nusra of firing a large number of mortar shells and missiles towards the villages of Al-Sheikh Sleiman and Qabtan Al-Jabal in Western Aleppo.

Some reports indicated that there were firefights between the two terrorist groups.

Tensions between the two groups began earlier this year after they both surrendered the Eastern part of the provincial capital to the Syrian government.

Three militant groups are about to form a new coalition to confront growing threats of Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Idlib and Aleppo provinces amid intensifying clashes among terrorist groups in the region, social activists reported on Saturday.

The activists reported that commanders of Nouralddeen al-Zinki movement, Jeish al-Ahrar and Ahrar al-Sham held a meeting aimed at forming a military coalition to face Al-Nusra's plan for annihilation of other rival groups in Idlib and Aleppo province to capture the entire militant-held regions in the two provinces.

Local sources reported that Al-Nusra terrorists stormed al-Zinki's positions in Ratyan region in Northern Aleppo, seizing al-Zinki fighters' weapons and expelling them from the region. In the meantime, Al-Nusra arrested a number of al-Zinki fighters in Atmah and al-Dana region in Northern Idlib.

The sources further said that Al-Nusra attacked al-Zinki's command posts and checkpoints in the villages of al-Abzamou, 111th Regiment base, Sheikh Salman, Kafr Naha and Khan al-Asal in Western Aleppo, taking control of al-Abzamou.

Al-Zinki has put its forces on alert in most regions in Western Aleppo following the Al-Nusra attacks.

The Syrian Army troops continued to carry out mop-up operation in Eastern Hama, discovering a large appalling jail that was used by the ISIL terrorists as a torture center, well-informed sources said Saturday.

Syria: Terrorists' Dreadful Jail Found in Eastern Hama
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960820000449

The army men have found a large command center of the ISIL between the villages of al-Jarouj and al-Na'eimiyeh the sources said, adding that a jail 400 sq/m in area was found that was used by the terrorists as a center to torture prisoners.

Reports said on Friday that the Russian Air Force targeted the headquarters of Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Northeastern Hama on Friday, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The warplanes destroyed the entire Al-Nusra facility in Northeastern Hama, killing at least 13 terrorists that were inside the building. A field commander of Iraqi descent was among the militants killed in Russian air raid.

The bombing took place near the strategic town of al-Rahjan, which is also considered the Al-Nusra's main stronghold in the region.

AL-BUKAMAL, Syria – According to numerous field reports being received, earlier Saturday evening an ISIS groupment previously holding onto a strategic outskirts position, was baited into moving into the center of border-city of Al-Bukamal, Deir Ezzor. After some expected initial skirmishes, the SAA and allied commanders ordered a strategic withdraw from the city in what appears to be a lure tactic, placing the ISIS groupment into a predicable and limited position, where they were just previously and successfully defeated just days ago on November 8th, as FRN reported then.

Strategic pull-out of SAA from Al-Bukamal lures ISIS into a familiar trap
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/11/breaking-strategic-pull-out-of-saa-from.html

Syrian military reports indicate that SAA and allies forces were unable to secure the northern outskirts of Al-Bukamal without taking unnecessary losses, despite the overwhelming odds generally favoring the SAA at this point in the now 4 year old conflict against ISIS. We should expect that strategic traps have been laid by the SAA that will make the subsequent clean-up of the drawn-in ISIS forces all the less risky to complete.

The fractured ISIS forces which were holding the center of Al-Bukamal made a strategic withdrawal towards the northern outskirts of the war torn city, sometime on November 8th. SAA and allied forces did not fall into the trap that was laid, and instead have reversed the tactic on the Daesh mercenaries.

It is a standard practice of the mercenary groupments fighting under any number of ostensibly ideological/religious flags, to operate on a somewhat more decentralized level than the professional SAA and the allied forces working in similar command chains.
ISIS, et al, groupments generally receive bonuses and regular pay upon the condition of making, filming, and otherwise documenting, various battle-field successes, as their out-of-theatre backers do not have confidence in their claims of progress at face value.

This way of waging war on the part of the anti-Syrian axis as been used to the advantage of the SAA and allies, and it is possible that this latest strategic withdrawal from the center of Al-Bukamal by the SAA and allies reflects precisely this. ISIS commanders on the ground would be incentivized to make short term gains at the expense of sustainable long term victories.

For now, Al-Bukamal is nominally under the Islamic State’s control, but with several days having passed and the movement of SAA positions to secure Highway 4 from the area of Al-Mayadeen and Al-Quriyah, as well as the securing of the Iraqi border days before that, ISIS will have a difficult time holding to that position in light of dwindling supplies and being pushed in the southern Deir Ezzor theatre to the less favorable position east of the Euphrates. The Syrian Arab Army and their allies are now in the preparations of a reinforced push towards the city from the north through Al-Jalaa to the city of Al-Bukamal.

This will result in a final attack with minimal losses on Al-Bukamal from several directions. Time and resources are on the side of the SAA and allies.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that terrorism problem in Syria is coming to an end.

"Terrorism problem in Syria almost over" - Putin
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/11/terrorism-problem-in-syria-almost-over.html

During a press conference, held in scope of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Vietnam on Saturday, Putin called for an expansion of de-escalation zones within Syrian territory amid preparations for the start of the political process in the country.

The Russian President pointed out crucial importance of joint evaluations of situation in Syria in his statement with the US President Donald Trump, stressing that the agreement between both sides on ending terrorism problem in Syria is an important step and confirms the true principles of war on terrorism.

Putin said he had a constructive dialogue with Trump during the summit in Vietnam, describing him as civilized, educated and mature when dealing with the issues that were discussed.

He, however, said that the proposed sideline talks with Trump were not held due to scheduling conflicts on both sides.

“There is the need for improving the US-Russian relations at diplomatic and political level to properly discuss certain issues, namely the international security and economic cooperation”, Putin said, pointing out that the relations are still in a state of crisis.

A western intelligence source has claimed to the BBC that Iran is building a new permanent military base in Syria just to the south of Damascus.

Permanent Iranian military base being built in Syria - reports
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/11/permanent-iranian-military-base-being.html

This came as Israel claimed it will not tolerate an Iranian military base in Syria as the country borders the Zionist entity.

"Israel will not let that happen," he said in September.

Although the BBC acknowledged it was difficult to verify if Iranian troops were present and that there were no signs of heavy weaponry, western intelligence have emphasized to the BBC that it is a military installment.

Iran is a sworn enemy of Israel and a backer of the Syrian government in its fight against terrorism.

“Israel Will Not Let This Happen”: Iran Is Reportedly Building A Military Base In Syria (Photos)
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-11-10/israel-will-not-let-happen-iran-reportedly-building-military-base-syria

On Friday, the “western press” started to set the stage for war between Lebanon (and Iran) and Saudi Arabia (and Israel).

First, it was the third reminder in a row that, despite no presentation of evidence, the ballistic missile that was fired last Saturday by Houthi rebels in Yemen, and supposedly meant to strike the Riyadh airport before it was intercepted by Saudi defense forces, the ballistic missile belonged to Iran. As the AP reported this morning, “the ballistic missile fired by Yemeni rebels that targeted the Saudi capital was from Iran and bore “Iranian markings,” the top U.S. Air Force official in the Mideast said Friday.” Lt. Gen. Jeffrey L. Harrigian, who oversees the Air Forces Central Command in Qatar and made the comments at a news conference in Dubai, declined to offer any specifics on what type of missile they believed it was.

It was unclear what, exactly, constitutes “Iranian markings”: perhaps – we mused – a stamp on the side saying “this ballistic missile was made in Iran, if found please return to PO Box 666, Tehran.”

Ultimately, it was irrelevant, because just a few hours later, a far more provocative report was published by the BBC, according to which Iran is establishing a permanent military base inside Syria, citing a Western intelligence source. The report, predictably, comes amid growing tensions over Iranian influence in Syria and across the region, and as the Saudi-Israel “alliance” is desperate to find a pretext to begin war.

As the BBC adds, the Iranian military is said to have established a compound at a site used by the Syrian army outside El-Kiswah, 14 km (8 miles) south of Damascus.

Needless to say, for Israel this would constitute the crossing of a “red line” by Iran: Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu recently warned that Iran wanted to establish itself militarily in Syria. “Israel will not let that happen,” he said.

Satellite images commissioned by the BBC “seem to show” construction activity at the site referenced by the intelligence source between January and October this year. The images shows a series of two dozen large low-rise buildings – likely for housing soldiers and vehicles.

According to the satellite images, in recent months additional buildings have been added to the site. However, the BBC at least concedes that it is impossible to independently verify the purpose of the site and the presence of the Iranian military. Still, that did not prevent someone, arguably the CIA, to “conclude” what is going on.

An official from another Western country told the BBC that ambitions for such a long-term presence in Syria would not be illogical for Iran. Its adversaries have accused Iran of seeking to establish not just an arc of influence but a logistical land supply line from Iran through to the Shia Hezbollah movement in Lebanon. With so-called Islamic State having suffered terminal defeats on the battlefield and losing its last strongholds, attention is increasingly turning to what comes next and the new map of power and influence in Syria.

This means focusing on Iran.

Iran has been a consistent backer of the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. Photographs published on social media in the past few days also showed a senior Iranian general in Deir Ezzor shortly after IS was driven out of the town. The photos show Maj Gen Qasem Soleimani, head of the Quds force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) alongside members of a militia.

With a significant number of IRGC fighting – and in some cases dying – in Syria, there has already been a significant presence in the country but the question is now whether they are preparing to remain in the long term.

Going back to the satellite images of the alleged base, they do not reveal any signs of large or unconventional weaponry which means if it was a base it would most likely be to house soldiers and vehicles. One source said it was possible that senior Iranian military officials may have visited the compound in recent weeks. Independent analysis of the images commissioned by the BBC says the facility is military in nature. The analysis also suggests there are a series of garages that can hold six to eight vehicles each.

The analysis suggests new buildings have been constructed and other buildings renovated in the past six months although the exact role of the new structures cannot be determined. Analysts estimate up to 500 troops could be based at the site. Furthermore, it is not clear whether the facility is currently occupied. Shia fighters from other countries – including Pakistan and Afghanistan – are also alleged to be operating in Syria under the control of the IRGC and it is possible the base could be used by them, however for the purposes of the loudly beating wardrums which demand a war with Iran soon, that would not be practical.

According to the developing narrative, while the presence of Iranian forces in Syria has been reported for some time, the claim of a potentially more permanent Iranian base raises the possibility of military action by Israel which has repeatedly warned it will not tolerate such a development.

Assuring that when once confirmed the base belongs it Iran Netanyahu will be forced the respond, the base lies just about 50 km from the Golan Heights – Syrian territory occupied and then annexed by Israel and where it now has a significant military presence.

And just to underscore that Iran is now the new ISIS, Netanyahu tweeted on Sunday that “As Isis [IS] moves out, Iran moves in.”

“Iran wants to establish itself militarily in Syria, right next to Israel. Israel will not let that happen,” he added.

In an interview on the BBC’s Andrew Marr show on the same day he said Iran wanted to bring its air force and submarines as well as military divisions right next to Israel.

Israel has raised further concerns of Iran seeking to use Syrian ports and bases for its submarines. When asked whether Israel would use military force to stop such developments, Mr. Netanyahu told the BBC: “You know, the more we’re prepared to stop it, the less likely we’ll have to resort to much greater things. There is a principle I very much adhere to, which is to nip bad things in the bud.”

However, international pressure is likely to be the first avenue pursued by Israel. Other countries have also raised concerns over potential long-term Iranian presence in the region.

It’s not just Israel whose opinion matters, however.

The issue of potential Iranian military bases is likely to have been raised by Israeli officials with Syria’s ally Russia. In October, Russia’s defence minister was in Jerusalem and was told by Netanyahu that Israel would not allow the Iranian military “to gain a foothold in Syria”, according to reports at the time.

While it is not clear how that conversation ended, last week Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Iran and Russian media suggested Syria – including Iran’s influence in the country – would be on the agenda.

Finally, closing the loop on the recent escalation in tensions between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, over the past year, the Israeli air force has struck targets in Syria a number of times which it has linked to Hezbollah.

And with that one base – which may or may not belong to Iran – the media now has the narrative “alibi” it will need to push for popular support for the Israel-Saudi axis in the upcoming military conflict against Iran and Lebanon.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, Reuters reported that Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani said Saudi Arabia had made a “strategic mistake” by considering the United States and Israel as friends and Iran as an enemy. The next few weeks should confirm if he is correct.

US says Russia to keep Iranian-linked forces from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Israel signals free hand in Syria as US, Russia expand truce
https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20171112-israel-signals-free-hand-in-syria-as-us-russia-expand-truce/

Israel signaled on Sunday that it would keep up military strikes across its frontier with Syria to prevent any encroachment by Iranian-allied forces, even as the United States and Russia try to build up a ceasefire in the area.

US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday affirmed joint efforts to stabilise Syria as its civil war wanes, including with the expansion of a July 7 truce in the southwestern triangle bordering Israel and Jordan.

A US State Department official said Russia had agreed “to work with the Syrian regime to remove Iranian-backed forces a defined distance” from the Golan Heights frontier with Israel, which captured the plateau in the 1967 Middle East war.

Moscow did not immediately provide details on the deal.

Israel has been lobbying both big powers to deny Iran, Lebanon’s Hezbollah and other Shia militias any permanent bases in Syria, and to keep them away from the Golan, as they gain ground while helping Damascus beat back Sunni-led rebels.

In televised remarks opening Israel’s weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not speak about the new US-Russian arrangement for Syria.

His regional cooperation minister, Tzachi Hanegbi, sounded circumspect about the deal, telling reporters that it “does not meet Israel’s unequivocal demand the there will not be developments that bring the forces of Hezbollah or Iran to the Israel-Syria border in the north”.

“Red Lines” - “There’s reflection here of the understanding that Israel has set red lines, and will stand firm on this,” Hanegbi said.

That was an allusion to Israeli military strikes in Syria, carried out against suspected Hezbollah or Iranian arms depots or in retaliation for attacks from the Syrian-held Golan.

In the latest incident, the Israeli military said it shot down a spy drone on Saturday as it overflew the Golan. Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman blamed the drone on the Syrian government. Damascus did not immediately respond.

Repeating Israel’s warnings to Iran and Hezbollah, Lieberman said: We will not allow the Shia axis to establish Syria as its forefront base.

Israel has made it clear to Russia and the United States that it will continue to operate in Syria to protect its security interests, the state radio station Kan reports citing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel to Continue to Operate in Syria to Protect Its Security - Netanyahu
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201711131059056137-netanyahu-israel-syria-security/

The statement was made a day after Russia and the US agreed to work with the Syrian government to remove Iranian-backed forces from opposition-held territories.

I made it clear to the United States and Russia that Israel will act in Syria on the basis of […] its own security interests," the head of the cabinet said, speaking before the members of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Likud Party.

The Israeli authorities accuse Iran of trying to turn Syria into a "hostile outpost" with tens of thousands of Shiite militia fighters, its own air and naval bases. The constant Iranian military presence in the neighboring country in general and at the border areas in particular is considering as unacceptable by Jerusalem; Israel promises to oppose it with force if diplomacy does not prove effective.

Earlier, a US State Department official has commented on the recent ‘on-the-fly’ greeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump amid the APEC summit. The official said the the two leaders agreed their willingness to cooperate in Syria if their interests converge.

According to the official, "Russia have agreed to work with the Syrian regime to remove Iranian-backed forces… from opposition-held territory" as well as the borders of the Golan [Heights] and Jordan.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that the new ceasefire agreement for southern Syria signed by the Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump during APEC summit in Vietnam has never addressed the withdrawal of forces loyal to Iran, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Hezbollah including, from southern Syria.

"We NEVER said anything about the withdrawal of IRGC and Hezbollah from southern Syria" - Peskov
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/11/we-never-said-anything-about-withdrawal.html

“The text should be read as it is. Any alternate interpretation is unacceptable”, Peskov said.

“Before it got published, the text was subjected to expert research and consultation, and was agreed upon in Danang during the recent APEC Summit following a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his American counterpart Rex Tillerson. Once it reached its final form, it was presented to the Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump”, he added.

A senior State Department official recently claimed that the tripartite ceasefire agreement between US, Russia and Jordan referred to evacuation of all foreign forces loyal to Iran from southwestern Syria, IRGC including, and that Russia promised to discuss this issue with the Syrian authorities.

The official added that the Amman memorandum "guarantees the survival of southwestern Syria under the control of the Syrian opposition until the settlement of the political crisis in the country is reached.

Israel's Channel 10 network said on Sunday that the United States, Russia and Jordan signed a ceasefire agreement for southern Syria, in which Russia vowed to remove all foreign troops from the buffer zones.

According to the foreign affairs analyst of the channel, buffer zones will be established on the border areas between Israel and Syria, around the occupied Golan Heights and the border area between Jordan and Syria.

PARIS, France. A French official said that his country's proposal to establish a contact group on Syria aims to support the negotiations of the warring Syrian parties in Geneva, pointing out Paris's readiness to work with Moscow on the issue.

France aims at bringing peace to Syria together with Russia
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/11/france-aims-at-bringing-peace-to-syria.html

“President Emmanuel Macron spoke about the possibility of establishing a contact group on the Syrian issue at the level of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. With our efforts, we wish to support and accelerate the Geneva peace process in the first place”, French government’s special envoy for relations with Russia Jean-Pierre Chevenement said.

He also said that Emmanuel Macron already introduced this proposal to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin who “did not reject it”, meaning the two leaders will likely proceed working in this direction.

Regarding Moscow's initiative to hold the Syrian national dialogue conference, Chevenement emphasized France's support for the unity of the Syrian people and territorial integrity of Syria.

The French official said that Macron sent a letter to Putin, aimed at strengthening cooperation on the Syrian issue, while refusing to give any details to public.

“The French president's message to his Russian counterpart is considered a highly confident matter due to sensitivity of the subject it deals with”, Chevenement said.

Last month, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow wants clarification from Paris as regards its initiative to establish a contact group on Syria.

The Kremlin is developing the appropriate scenario for the nomination of the incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin, for a new term as Head of State. This is reported by RBC, with reference to sources close to the presidential administration.

Putin to run in 2018 Election independent of "United Russia" - reports
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/11/putin-to-run-in-2018-election.html

It is stated that the President has decided on his participation in the 2018 elections, which is likely to be officially announced during the assembly of the ruling United Russia political party, on 22- 23 December. However, to keep us in suspense, January is also an option. "Putin's pre-election campaign is likely to be as short as possible", RBC's interlocutor said, his victory is "undeniable", so there is no need to rush into the campaign."

At the same time, it is noted that, most likely, Putin will go to the elections as a self-nominated person, since he has a higher rating in society than the party United Russia.

The Head of the Civil Society Development Foundation, Konstantin Kostin, notes that due to the fact that Putin has held a consistently high rating over the past year, the president has maximum freedom to choose the scenario for his nomination.

"The goal, in my opinion, is not to make his campaign as short as possible, but for electoral discussions to be held within a legal period, rather than beginning long before campaigns should (for self-promotion), as some politicians do. A shorter campaigning time in this sense works in his favour," the political scientist sums up.

At a press conference on November 11, Vladimir Putin said that he would not comment on the topic of his nomination for a new term. "The time will come - let's talk then," the president said to the journalist, who mentioned that "everyone is tired of waiting to know."

Previously, the desire to participate in the presidential election was voiced by TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak. The legal period to announce such decisions is not until December, while the election itself is to be held 3 months later, in March 2018.

Inside Syria Media Center tried to analyze what is now going on in Eastern Ghouta. Our military correspondents investigated the issue. The results raise a number of questions. The mainstream media are trying to convince everyone that an appalling famine in East Ghouta was caused by Assad’s blockade.

New Information Campaign on Humanitarian Disaster Arose, Fake Accounts, Photos and the Masterminds November 13, 2017 (Tweets)
https://en.insidesyriamc.com/2017/11/13/new-information-campaign-on-humanitarian-disaster-arose-fake-accounts-photos-and-the-masterminds/

Meanwhile, humanitarian aid is regularly delivered there, but the terrorists do their best to prevent civilians and their children from obtaining it.

The East Ghouta’s terrorists are exploiting a sense of empathy of the international community. They don’t want to get UN and Assad’s humanitarian aid. Instead, they prevent any aid to be delivered into the Damascus district. To arouse the storm of indignation from all over the world with the aim to break the siege they draw the pictures of starving and exhausted children.

So, the Western real goal is to force the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to stop the siege so that the terrorists could regroup. How they are going to achieve it?

Fake accounts and photos are practiced to inflame a catastrophe. It seems that one should be careful so that not to get to the fakes of fraudsters! The brainwashing is all the rage right now!

Take a look at this photo uploaded by ‘mostafa.mohamadi’ on November 3, 2017.

You should remember this crook’s account. The photo is a typical example of fake and here you are the proof:

A boy in the picture looks extremely unnatural. His surprisingly clean face does not match the color of the dirty hands holding the poster. It is unclear what is he doing in the crowd on the street with a poster in his hands in the place where there is no any rally or protest. The contours around the child’s shoulders are very explicit and clear, suggesting the image of the boy was superimposed. This can be judged if you download an image from the original, set a 1000% zoom and consider carefully the place of photomontage.

Some discrepancy could be revealed by using Image Metadata Viewer and also ELA-analysis. If you change the brightness and work with such a tool as photo-forensics, you will see the banner drawn at the boy least of all.

Somebody should #StopLyingAboutGhouta, stop lying about the crimes of the SAA and Assad and objectively cover the events. Unfortunately, somebody went even further. The Official account of the Syrian Opposition, AMC news portal and “the Irish Solidarity with the struggle of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity, and justice, and horror and outrage at the slaughter they are enduring” (that is @SyriaIrl) scream that Assad bombs aid convoy. Wasn’t it a convoy hit by the militants in Aleppo in 2016?

Nur and Alaa: “The Bana al-Abed” script from Aleppo is used.

The terrorists continue to use children as an effective method to achieve their goals. First, the jihadists used defenseless boys and girls as suicide bombers, then as human shields hiding behind them from air strikes, and now the terrorists use children in the information war to weaken the siege of Assad’s troops and to run away, to slip as soon as possible if their plan to de-blockade East Ghouta does come true.

One of the striking examples of well-organized campaign imposed on the international community was ‘Bana al-Abed’ show launched when Aleppo had being recaptured in late 2016. At that time the phenomenon of Bana couldn’t become an obstacle on the way to clear Aleppo from the militants encircled.

And now it won’t work with the fake Nur and Alaa’s account which not only uses Bana’s experience but also is connected with the Iran Arab Spring movement. This kind of opposition was the first Nur and Alaa follower on Twitter and the movement in the story was organized and followed practically the same pattern as with the other one information campaign to support the terrorists named #AssadBesiegesGhouta.

A website is formed first at GoogleSites’ platform (https://sites.google.com/site/hezbollahisaterrorist/ and https://sites.google.com/site/assadbesiegesghouta/). Second, social networks’ accounts are created and well-known persons call for supporting the relevant hashtag (like #HezbollahIsTerrorism, #Assad_Besieges_Ghouta).

What is the Real life in East Ghouta?

Here you are the photos from the East Ghouta made on November 1, 2017. The daily life of local residents in the terrorists’-rule areas continued. It is hard, dangerous, but far from the monstrous hunger dictated by the Western media.

Thanks to many people in this situation that are doing their best to help Syrian children and locals from Eastern Ghouta. #StopLyingAboutGhouta

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have blocked the roads to the civilians returning to their homes in a village in Northeastern Deir Ezzur, and are seizing their possessions, local sources reported on Sunday.

Syria: SDF Plundering People's Possessions in Northeastern Deir Ezzur
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960821000865

The sources reported that the SDF has cut off the road and forces the people willing to get back home in the village of Abu al-Nitel in Northeastern Deir Ezzur to stay back.

The sources went on to say that the SDF has seized the villagers' houses, turning them into command posts or using them to house its own members.

Relevant reports said on Friday that the army troops and US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were racing along the Western and Eastern banks of the Euphrates River in an effort to capture the last oilfields under ISIL control in Deir Ezzur province.

The SDF and the army both scored important advances in Deir Ezzur, seizing ISIL’s two largest strongholds in Deir Ezzur.

The army liberated the town of Albu Kamal and the SDF captured the town of Merkadah.

The army and SDF would attempt to capture the remaining oilfields occupied by the terrorists in the Euphrates River Valley.

Among the oilfields still under ISIL control is the Al-Khishmah Fields South of the SDF controlled Al-‘Umar Oilfields.

The army and popular fighters would attempt to speed up their assault from Albu Kamal and Al-Mayadeen in order to beat the US backed forces there.

Syria’s UN envoy said that the UN’s recent positive vote for a draft resolution concerning Israel’s occupation of Golan Heights shows that the Israel's actions are “unacceptable and violate the principles of international law.”

Syria UN Envoy: UN Vote Shows Israel Presence in Golan Illegal
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960821000443

Syria’s Ambassador to the UN Bashar al-Jafari made the remarks while addressing the Special Political and Decolonization Committee, SANA reported.

Jafari stressed that the sweeping vote reiterates member states’ rejection of the Tel Aviv's occupation of the Golan Heights.

It also asserts that the attempt to annex the Golan by Israel is null and void and has no legal effect in accordance with UN Security Council’s Resolution No. 497 for 1981, and therefore all such practices, including the settlement activities and cooperation with terrorist groups as a ISIL and al-Nusra Front in the Syrian Golan will be denounced by all those who are keen to upgrade international law, end the foreign occupation and to reject the principle of annexing the lands of others by force,” he said.

He added that Israel is in continuous cooperation with ISIL in Golan which “violates Security Council resolutions that prohibit dealing with terrorism.”

2 Navy SEALs Under Suspicion in Strangling of Green Beret in Mali
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/29/us/politics/navy-seals-team-6-strangle-green-beret-mali.html

The scandal surrounding the potential murder of a Green Beret stationed in Mali by two US Navy SEALs in June has taken on an even more sinister dimension, with the allegation the slain elite troop had uncovered an embezzlement scheme run by the SEALs in question.

Report: Slain Green Beret Melgar Murdered After Discovery of SEAL Embezzlement
https://sputniknews.com/military/201711131059055302-navy-seals-murder-mutilation/

Anonymous special ops troops have told The Daily Beast that slain Green Beret Sergeant Logan J. Melgar had spoken to his wife about "the bad feeling" he had about two US Navy SEALs, who are currently under suspicion of his murder, although he didn't elaborate why he felt that way.

Melgar's emails to his spouse, documenting problems he was having with the SEALs, have been provided to investigators.

In late October, it was announced the death of Sergeant Logan J. Melgar at US embassy housing in Bamako, Mali had been ruled a homicide by strangulation, and two Navy SEALs, who had been staying in the same building had been officially placed under suspicion — now, it's been suggested Melgar may have been killed to stop him speaking out about the theft of funds by the elite team.

Individuals in the Green Beret community had apparently speculated Melgar may have been murdered after stumbling upon illicit activity, or as a result of a personal dispute had escalated into violence, ever since his death.

Cut You In - Two unnamed special operations sources say the slain Green Beret had discovered the SEALs were pocketing money from a fund used to pay informants and collaborators. The SEALS offered to cut him in, but Melgar declined, the anonymous troops told The Daily Beast.

How much time elapsed between Melgar's discovery of the scheme and his untimely death is unclear, but the official narrative suggests an altercation between the Green Beret and the SEAL team erupted June 4 at 5am, and quickly escalated.

Melgar lost consciousness, and stopped breathing — the SEALs attempted to open an airway in Melgar's throat, to no avail. The SEALs and another Green Beret then drove to a nearby French clinic seeking help, but he was dead prior to arrival due to asphyxiation.

They told their superiors that the dispute stemmed from Melgar being drunk during "combatives" — hand-to-hand fighting exercises — and filed a posthumous operational report about the incident to that effect, which claimed Melgar was "grappling" with them when he ended up in a "chokehold."

Melgar then passed out, and their efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

An unnamed AFRICOM official, however, told the Daily Beast that the autopsy report indicated no drugs or alcohol were found in Melgar's system, and at least one source believes he abstained from alcohol entirely.

Brigadier General Donald Bolduc, then-commander of Special Operations Command-Africa, was allegedly skeptical of the initial reports from the outset, alerted Army Criminal Investigation Command to his suspicions and told commanders in Mali to preserve evidence.

Cloak of Darkness - The tragic episode, and the opaque veil of official secrecy surrounding it, highlights an unsavory and rarely acknowledged element of US special operations.

The country's elite fighting squads typically operate in the shadows, in far-flung countries, with little to no oversight, and despite the heroic image of the SEALs and other similar units purveyed by politicians and the media, there are strong suggestions their operations often have a dark side to them.

Perhaps no other military unit has come to embody US military success or heroism in the mainstream more than SEAL Team 6, the group which executed Osama bin Laden in May 2011.

An extensive investigation into the group's actions over the course of the War on Terror, published by The Intercept, revealed a rather different and troubling story, including "revenge ops," unjustified killings, and other atrocities. The group's crusade was moreover allegedly tolerated and suppressed by the command's leadership.

For instance, Team 6 was said to have adopted a policy of "canoeing" — shooting already dead combatants in the upper forehead at close quarters, in order to create a v-shaped wound that exposed brain matter, and then taking a commemorative photo of their fallen quarry.

Between 2005 through 2011, battlefield reports and accounts of such atrocities, including mutilations and taking of trophies, were ignored by the team's leadership.

While the team's internal policies stringently precluded the shooting of unarmed individuals, and demanded a clear posthumous demonstration such targets had displayed hostile intent.

If SEALs couldn't justify the threat after a shooting, they were meant to removed from the unit — although no investigation into an unjustified killing has ever resulted in formal disciplinary action against a member of Team 6.

Furthermore, the team also took on members of other units who had been disciplined for similar behavior, in 2007 accepting a former Gold Squadron sniper who left his unit after killing three unarmed people — including a child — in two operations.

A Green Beret was strangled by two members of the legendary SEAL Team Six after he uncovered they had gone rogue and were pocketing slush fund money from a special forces operation in Mali, sources close to the investigation claim.

Two SEAL Team Six members 'murdered Green Beret who uncovered their slush fund theft in Mali'
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5076255/Navy-SEALs-investigation-death-Green-Beret.html

Part of the intelligence gathering operation in Mali involved a fund used to pay informants.

Two Special Operation sources told the Daily Beast that Melgar discovered the pair of SEALs were skimming off of the top of the dirty military money to keep for themselves.

When he confronted them about it, sources say the pair told Melgar they could get him a cut of the money in return for his silence. He allegedly refused.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Russia and the US should pull their troops out of Syria following the joint statement adopted by the two countries’ presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, which says that there is no military solution to the Syrian conflict.

Turkish President Calls on Russia, US to Pull Troops Out of Syria
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960823001405

"It is hard for me to understand such statements. If a military solution cannot help find a way out of the crisis, then those who think so should pull their troops out of Syria," the Turkish leader said, as cited by the Haberturk TV channel.

Putin and Trump adopted a joint statement on Syria on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Vietnam’s Da Nang on November 11.

According to the document, "the presidents agreed that there is no military solution to the conflict in Syria." "They confirmed that the ultimate political solution to the conflict must be forged through the Geneva process pursuant to UNSCR [United Nations Security Council Resolution] 2254," the document read.

Putin and Trump "also took note of President Assad’s recent commitment to the Geneva process and constitutional reform and elections as called for under UNSCR 2254."

According to the joint statement, the two leaders "affirmed that these steps must include full implementation of UNSCR 2254, including constitutional reform and free and fair elections under UN supervision, held to the highest international standards of transparency, with all Syrians, including members of the diaspora, eligible to participate."

Moscow and Washington discussed the de-escalation zone in Syria’s Southwest and the text of the deal is open for the public, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters on Tuesday.

"In particular, we discussed with the Americans a mechanism of the de-escalation zone’s operation in Syria’s Southwest," Lavrov said, TASS reported.

"This is an open agreement and its text is available," Lavrov said, adding that representatives of Jordan also took part in hammering out the deal.

"Informal consultations were held with Israel taking into consideration that this zone is in direct proximity to the Golan Heights," he said.

Benjamin Netanyahu Tells US and Russia: Israel Will Continue 'Acting in Syria'

"We are controlling our borders, we are protecting our country and we will continue to do so," Netanyahu said in remarks to members of his right-wing Likud party, RT reported.

"I have also informed our friends, firstly in Washington and also our friends in Moscow, that Israel will act in Syria, including in Southern Syria, according to our understanding and according to our security needs," he added.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday that Moscow has not promised to ensure a withdrawal of pro-Iran forces from Syria.

Russia: No Promise on Withdrawal of Pro-Iran Forces from Syria

Lavrov said that there have been no discussions on the withdrawal of the pro-Iran forces from Syria at the recent talks with the US.

When commenting on the statements issued by the US Department of State, concerning some agreements made with Russia about the withdrawal of the pro-Iranian forces from Syria, Lavrov said that "we discussed neither Iran no any pro-Iranian forces."

"If we talk about the pro-Iranian forces, then some will be tempted to call the entire Syrian army pro-Iranian. And then what? Will it have to surrender? This is what they call wishful thinking," the Russian top diplomat was quoted as saying by TASS.

A written statement issued on the sidelines of the APEC summit by the Russian and US Presidents said earlier today that the Syrian conflict does not have a military solution.

US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told reporters that the United States has no plans to carry out military patrolling in Syria's de-escalation zones.

US Has No Plans to Carry Out Military Patrolling in Syrian De-Escalation Zones
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960823000614

"That has not been discussed, the US military policing them," he said, Sputnik reported.

When asked about the US strategy on Syria's de-escalation zones, the defense secretary stressed that it is worth expanding them in order to let civilians return home.

"You keep broadening them. You try to de-mil one area and then de-mil another, and just keep it going, try to do the things that will allow people to return to one [another]," Mattis added.

The Defense Secretary reminded that such a zone has been established in Southwestern Syria, however, there are no guarantees that a similar zone can be established in some other area. "The ones down in the Southwest, which, you know obviously has Russian MP's [military police] down there, and that sort of thing, but each area is different, so you won't have a template where one size fits all, and that can be looked at," Mattis underlined.

The U.S.’ military presence in Syria violates the country’s territorial sovereignty and UN Charter, the Syrian Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.

Syrian FM fires back at US over timetable to leave country

“The U.S. military presence and the presence of any military in Syria without government approval is a direct assault on its sovereignty and a violation of the UN Charter,” the Syrian Foreign Ministry stated.

“On the contrary, this presence only leads to prolonging the crisis and further complicating it, and this is where the real goal of this U.S. presence in Syria lies,” the Syrian Foreign Ministry added.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry’s statement comes just 24 hours after the U.S’ Secretary of Defense, James Mattis, claimed the U.S. military will remain in Syria until a settlement is made.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis announced that the US military are not planning to leave Syria until the Syrian settlement process in Geneva brings success.

US Military Not Planning to Leave Syria Until Geneva Process Success
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960823000477

US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told reporters on Monday that the US military would only leave Syria after it is evident the Syrian settlement process in Geneva is successful, Sputnik reported.

"We're not just going to walk away right now before the Geneva process has cracked. That doesn't mean everyone stays there. That doesn't mean for certain — certain troops are leaving. I'm just saying that we're going to condition — and I've honestly not made those decisions. We're going to make sure we set the conditions for a diplomatic solution… Not just, you know, fight the cop part of it and then say good luck on the rest of it. We did it for that — to support the diplomatic solution," Mattis said.

The US-led coalition of 68 nations has been conducting airstrikes against what are said to be the positions of Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.

On Monday, US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said that the US military will remain in Syria until the situation is resolved by the Geneva process under the aegis of the UN. However, this information does not prove to be relevant.

Ex-UN Director-General Calls James Mattis a 'Laughingstock' for Remarks on Syria
https://sputniknews.com/us/201711141059090743-syria-us-un-mattis-opinion/

Former UN Director-General Sergei Ordzhonikidze said that Jim Mattis made himself a "laughingstock" by saying the United Nations allegedly approved the presence of the country’s forces in Syria.

He just doesn't understand or know what he is saying, and apparently he has no decent advisers who could tell him how to act… It is, I believe, just a shame to say things like this, for such a large state, a superpower, like the United States," Ordzhonikidze stressed.

Moreover, he added that the United States presence in Syria was illegal and was "an attempt to justify in an awkward way the illegal stay of US-led coalition forces in Syria".

Meanwhile, on Monday, James Mattis said that the presence of the United States in Syria had been approved by the United Nations as Washington was engaged in the fight against Daesh (outlawed in Russia) terrorist group.

Nouralddeen al-Zinki members and other terrorists of Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board) resumed clashes on Tuesday after a daylong halt in hostilities in the region.

Al-Zinki and Al-Nusra exchanged heavy fire near the 111th regiment base, the small town of Dar al-Izzah, the village of Taqad, in a region near the villages of Ajel, Tadil and Oweijel and the small towns of Kafr Naha and al-Abzqamou in Western Aleppo.

Meanwhile, Al-Nusra dispatched a large number of forces and military hardware, including tanks and vehicles to the battlefields in Western Aleppo and Northern Idlib to face al-Zinki fighters. Also, al-Zinki sent its military equipment to the village of Taqad in Western Aleppo and clashed with Al-Nusra in the village of Kafr Natin.

The two rival terrorist groups reached an agreement on ending clashes yesterday.

Dissident-affiliated websites reported on Monday that Nouralddeen al-Zinki members and other terrorists of Al-Nusra Front engaged in a fresh round of clashes in Aleppo and Idlib provinces, inflicting over 100 casualties on both warring sides.

In the meantime, Nouralddeen al-Zinki managed to drive Al-Nusra from the village of Taqad in Western Aleppo.

Apart from having a negative impact on the security situation in the region, clashes between non-state actors in rural Aleppo, Syria has interrupted humanitarian activities, according to UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric.

"We are concerned about the protection and well-being of civilians in Atareb, rural Aleppo, following reports of infighting between different non-state armed groups over the past five days," Dujarric said. "Shelling on populated cities and towns in the area is affecting civilian movement, including commercial activities and it has interrupted humanitarian activities in the area due to the clashes and road blocks."

Dujarric added that as a result of the worsened situation, schools in rural Aleppo have suspended classes.

On Sunday, a UN-International Committee of the Red Cross-Syrian Arab Red Crescent convoy delivered assistance for 21,500 of the approximately 90,000 people in need of aid in Duma city in the besieged East Ghouta of rural Damascus.

People in a town in Northeastern Aleppo took to the streets, opposing forced recruitment by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), local sources reported on Monday.

The sources said that a large number of residents of the town of Kobani (Ein al-Arab) took to the streets, condemning the SDF's forced recruitment in the region.

The source said that the demonstration in Kobani was carried out to support the same move in the town of Manbij, adding that people in Kobani also condemned the SDF's intention to secede the region from Syria.

Unlike Manbij where 95 percent of people are Arab, most of residents in Ein al-Arab are Kurds.

The militant-affiliated websites reported that people in the town of Manbij and several villages in Northeastern Aleppo demonstrated against forced recruitment by the SDF in the region. The shops and businesses in the region were also closed to oppose the SDF's move, the websites reported.

The websites further said that following the strikes, demonstrations and tensions in the region, the SDF threatened Manbij's resident that it will arrest women as recruits if men do not obey the forced recruitment rule approved by the Kurdish Forces Legislative Council.

The ISIL terrorist group has handed over Syria's second largest oilfield in Deir Ezzur province to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) within the framework of an agreement, dissident-affiliated websites reported on Tuesday.

Deir Ezzur: ISIL Hands over Syria's Second Largest Oilfield to SDF
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960823001272

The websites reported that the ISIL delivered control of al-Tanak oilfield, Syria's second largest oilfield, to the SDF without any clashes in line with an agreement that envisages surrendering their positions to the US-back forces.

The oilfield is located 35km East of Deir Ezzur city.

The Arabic-language Lebanon-based al-Akhbar paper wrote on Friday that ISIL withdrew from the town of Merkadah in Southern Hasaka and surrendered control to the SDF within the framework of an agreement that envisages delivering control of its regions to the SDF without any battle.

Merkadah is located along the al-Khabour River and was the last stronghold of ISIL in Hasaka. The town is on the administrative borderline between the provinces of Hasaka and Deir Ezzur.

After withdrawal from Merkadah, ISIL is only in control of desert-like regions in Hasaka and Deir Ezzur provinces along the border with Iraq.

The SDF did not comment on ISIL's withdrawal, but the Deir Ezzur Military Council announced that they were ready to face the Syrian Army troops and popular forces in the province. Kurds had been trying to take control over Merkadah since long time ago.

Hundreds of suspected members of the Daesh terror group and thousands of their family members were allowed to flee Raqqa in convoys arranged by US-backed forces in the days before the city fell to coalition forces, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Col. Ryan Dillon told reporters on Tuesday.

Hundreds of Suspect Daesh Fighters Allowed to Exit Raqqa, 4 Detained
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201711141059100853-raqqa-daesh-fighters-exit/

Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Col. Ryan Dillon essentially confirmed a BBC report that 250 Daesh fighters and thousands of family members, along with weapons and other supplies, were disbursed throughout Syria in a series of convoys that were arranged by US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in an attempt to reduce bloodshed in the final days of the battle for Raqqa.

"In the course of that screening there were four foreign fighters that were identified and detained by the Syrian Democratic Forces," Dillon said. "Out of the rest of the 3,500 civilians that came out of Raqqa at that time, approximately less than 300 were identified and screened as potential ISIS [Daesh] fighters."

As part of the agreement, male evacuees were screened and processed for biometric data, Dillon said.

With remaining Daesh fighters evacuated, the US-led coalition announced in October that the terror group’s self-declared capital of Raqqa had been liberated.

Later that month, the Syrian news agency SANA reported, citing an official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry, that the Syrian government would consider Raqqa an occupied city until it comes under the control of the Syrian army.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that it had gathering evidence indicating the US Air Force had allowed over 100 ISIS vehicles to escape Abu Kamal City last week.

US Air Force refused to take out massive ISIS convoy in Deir Ezzor: Russia
https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/us-air-force-refused-take-massive-isis-convoy-deir-ezzor-russia/

According to Russia, the US refused to carry out any airstrikes on the convoy, spotted leaving towards the Wadi es-Sabha passage on the border with Iraq, and added that Russian warplanes were prevented from doing so to.

“Americans peremptorily rejected to conduct airstrikes over the ISIS terrorists on the pretext of the fact that, according to their information, militants are yielding themselves prisoners to them and now are subject to the provisions of the Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Russia said it had addressed the US-led coalition twice with a proposal of carrying out joint air raids to eliminate the retreating ISIS convoy, but was turned down, allowing jihadist hundreds of militants to travel undeterred along the Euphrates River. Furthermore, the US was accused of hampering the Russian Air Force’s activities in southern Deir Ezzor.

“There is indisputable evidence that the United States pretends it is waging irreconcilable struggle against international terrorism in front of the international community, while in reality it provides cover for the combat-ready Islamic State groups to let them regain strength, regroup themselves and advance US interests in the Middle East,” the ministry said.

On Tuesday, Islamist factions began a counter-attack near the town of Kafr Hawar southwest of Damascus amid a to expand their Beit Jinn pocket by thrusting into government-held turf.

Islamist rebels capture five Syrian troops near the Golan Heights
https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/video-islamist-rebels-capture-five-syrian-troops-near-golan-heights/

Amateur footage uploaded by a fighter loyal to Jaish Al-Haramoun shows what he claimed to be five soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) 4th mechanized Division that were captured alive during the counter-attack this morning.

The troops were shown handcuffed as prisoners-of-war before the camera.

Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) was also involved in the fighting; preliminary reports that suggest government forces have lost an armored vehicle, type ‘ZSU-23-4 Shilka’, as jihadist militants swarmed and captured an SAA outpost in the mountainous area, located just outside the Golan Heights.

Over the past weeks, the SAA has kicked off repeated assaults to eliminate the Beit Jinn pocket but thus far, the pro-government attacks have simply spawned a similar number of HTS counter-attacks, rendering neither side able to advance significantly on the battlefield.

The Syrian Army has liberated new quarters of Deir ez-Zor from Daesh terrorists. During the operation the army found large warehouses with a huge number of lethal weapons. The Syrian military source told Sputnik Arabic what exactly these warehouses were storing.

Warehouses Full of US-Made 'Lethal Weapons' Found by Syrian Army (PHOTOS, VIDEO)
https://sputniknews.com/military/201711151059132813-warehouse-us-weapons-syria-video/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6qt7cd0j40 (1:12 min.)

According to the Syrian military source there were a lot of US-made weapons and military equipment of Western European and Israeli production. Apart from M-16 automatic rifles there were TOW anti-tank missile systems and 155 mm US field guns.

“There were also Hummers, which were either used to transport people or were stuffed with bombs inside ready to explode. Israeli intelligence reconnaissance aircraft and a modern Israeli protective suit for conducting sapper work have also been found,” the source told Sputnik Arabic.

The source also said that tech for air and ground reconnaissance, satellite communications and bags with C-4 explosives were also discovered inside these warehouses.

There were also boxes with ammunition and weapons stored in the underground shelters, while tanks and cars were covered with a camouflage net to protect against Russian and Syrian airstrikes.

The Inside Syria Media Center website quoted Syrian Brigade General Ali al-Ali as saying that the United States illegally delivered at least 1,500 trucks with weapons and military equipment to terrorists in Syria between June 5 and September 15 of this year.

Although Washington said that these weapons were intended for US allies, they always fell into the hands of terrorists, the general said.

According to the website, the Austrian Glock 19 pistol is the most popular weapon among Daesh militants. Back in 2014, terrorists posted execution videos, in which those pistols were used.

Later it was discovered that these pistols were delivered to Iraqi law enforcement bodies in 2003-2004.

According to the brigade general, the M-16 assault rifles became a symbol of crisis in Syria. The Syrian Army has repeatedly found boxes containing weapons that read "US Property." Hence statements suggesting that these were Chinese copies are probably incorrect.

Furthermore, the Syrian Army on a number of occasions found the light automatic FN FAL rifle, which is a weapon used by the NATO. This rifle is equipped with a sniper scope and is generally used in urban dwellings.

In addition, Daesh terrorists have also used Heckler & Koch’s MP5 submachine gun, popular with US and European law enforcement agencies.

In a separate development, a loud explosion took place in the rebel-held village of Qastal. According to a local outlet, the incident was caused by a mine left behind by ISIS when its militants controlled the area back in 2016.

A few days ago, the Turkish Army had otherwise briefly crossed the border into Efrin, prompting rumours of an imminent Turkish Army offensive. This large-scale operation is yet to come to fruition, likely due to pressure from Russia and United States, both of whom maintain good relations with the predominately Kurdish SDF.

The Russian foreign minister has emphasized that contrary to Pentagon’s statements, the US presence in Syria is illegal.

Lavrov accuses US, Coalition of hindering work of Russian aviation in Syria
https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/lavrov-accuses-us-coalition-hindering-work-russian-aviation-syria/

“The Syrian army’s actions supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces to eliminate the remaining Daesh militants were hindered, while more time was needed to reach our goals,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has stated, commenting on reports of the US letting Daesh terrorists flee from Raqqa.

According to Lavrov, Russia has asked for an explanation as the “consequences of militants’ leaving safe and sound have influenced the situation on the ground.”

When asked if Russia has proof of US allegedly being in cahoots with the Daesh terrorist group, Lavrov has stated, “I cannot speak about collusion. We use facts. We have no proof that there was any collusion.”

Commenting on Pentagon’s claims that the US is present in Syria lawfully due to a UNSC decision, Lavrov called the statement “absurd.”

“The US is justifying its presence, which is illegitimate because it is not based on the decision of the UN Security Council or the invitation of the legitimate government [of Syria].”

Evacuation of Daesh Militants From Raqqa - Lavrov’s statement comes in the wake of a BBC report, saying that the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) alliance of Kurdish and Arab militias allowed about 250 Daesh jihadists and some 3,500 members of their families to leave the Syrian city of Raqqa in October.

Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Col. Ryan Dillon has confirmed the information, adding that the evacuation of Daesh militants after screening was an attempt to reduce bloodshed in Raqqa.

Previously, Reuters reported citing a militia spokesman that 275 Daesh fighters from Syria left Raqqa, according to an agreement with the US-led coalition, while 200-300 militants mostly of foreign origin remained in the city prior to the final assault on the city started.

After the evacuation of civilians and some Daesh militants, the US-backed rebel forces announced the liberation of Raqqa, which had been under terrorists’ control since 2013.
According to the Syrian news agency SANA citing an official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry, Damascus would consider Raqqa an occupied city until it comes under the control of the army.

The Arabic-language al-Hadath news website reported on Thursday that Governor of Hatay province Salib Mohammed Erish along with a number of other Turkish officials have traveled to Idlib city in Syria, visiting several districts.

Observers believe that their trip to al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board) main stronghold in Syria, Idlib, is suspicious, specially when Ankara, as one of the peace guarantors in Astana talks, has stressed the need for fighting the al-Nusra in Idlib under the agreement to create de-escalation zones in Syria.

They also said that the visit not only shows close ties between Ankara and al-Nusra but also indicates that Turkey doesn’t intend to drive the terrorist group out of Idlib province.

In a relevant development on Wednesday, the Syrian Army troops continued to advance against the Al-Nusra Front towards Idlib province after winning control over several hills, towns and villages in Northeastern Hama.

The army men pushed Al-Nusra back from the small town of Mawilah, Tal (hill) Mahsar and the village of al-Jamileh North of the small town of al-Hamra.

In a secret hideout in eastern Homs, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has discovered a large amount of artifacts that were removed from Palmyra Museum as ISIS overran the city back in 2015.

Syrian Army recovers ancient artifacts stolen by ISIS in Palmyra
https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/video-syrian-army-recovers-ancient-artifacts-stolen-isis-palmyra/

Footage released by Syrian state television shows the SAA retaking the lost artifacts after they were discovered earlier this week. In addition, ISIS also captured a large batch of weaponry which was abandoned by ISIS before it fled from the sparsely populated area in 2017:

In the coming days, the artifacts will be returned to Palmyra Museum where work will be done to restore any damage caused by ISIS upon the UNESCO World Heritage site.

Although ISIS is fully expelled from central Syria, some areas are still heavily mined and off limits to the SAA. Therefore, it remains a possibility that more artifacts will be recovered once these caves and hideouts are secured.
