Sabotage at the UN Human Rights Council?

Re the following articles published on the SOTT page about Richard Falk's recent appointment as the new UN special rapporteur on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict:

UN Official Calls For Study of Neocons' Role in 911

I hardly know how to word this posting, except to say THERE'S SOMETHING VERY FISHY ABOUT THIS.

Does anyone have more detailed information about how Richard Falk came to be appointed to this post? It seems like an act of political sabotage to me. The US and its cohorts opposed the establishment of the UN Human Rights Council right from the beginning, refusing to even sit on it, then immediately condemned it as "lacking credibility" because of a "pathological obsession with Israel". And now they must be positively rubbing their hands in glee that the new investigator is an outspoken supporter of the 9/11 Truth Movement (in other words, in the average person's eyes, a "crackpot"), as well as an outspoken critic of Israel (in other words, in the average person's eyes, an "anti-semite"), whose credibility as an "objective observer" (again, in the average uninformed person's eyes) can be crumpled like rice paper.

This is a neo-con's dream come true -- an ideal opportunity to bolster their "anti UN Human Rights Council" stance, and ridicule the 9/11 Truth Movement, all in one fell swoop. What was the Council thinking?

Am I making any sense?

PepperFritz, just to clarify, when you say 'sabotage of the Human Rights Council', are you suggesting that Richard Falk is being set up as a tar-baby?

Referring to this story, Les Visible has this to say:

Here is where it is really at and this is going to shake the world. I don't know how this has managed to come about but it is a major league event!
I'm cautious, but feel that ultimately this will assist awareness of 9/11 and the Zionist connection, intended or otherwise. I think you may be reading too much into this in terms of it being an elaborate ruse.

There is always the possibility that it is a set-up. We have to keep that in mind. But, on the surface, the guy looks real. But, never forget Protocol 12...

I wasn't implying that he wasn't "real", on the contrary, I think he is. But I think his appointment may be a set-up.
