Not a great start to the year!

Gunmen dressed as Santas have attacked a night club in Istanbul, reportedly killing and injuring scores of people, Turkish media report. Footage shows armored police vehicles surrounding the building as ambulances are rushed to the scene.

At least 35 people were killed and 40 wounded in the attack, Istanbul's governor Vasip Şahin said, calling the incident a terrorist attack.

The attack took place at the well-known Reina nightclub in the Ortakoy neighborhood, in Istanbul's Besiktas district.

A policeman and a civilian are reported to be among the two known casualties at the nightclub.

There were two attackers involved, according to NTV, but conflicting reports also described a lone gunman.

The gunmen were dressed in Santa Claus outfits, wielding assault rifles, Turkish media said.

Certainly not a good way to start the New Year.

A year in which Ankara could have been instrumental in implementing the Peace process in Syria along with Russia and Iran. And it's funny too that it happened on the very same day that the Russian proposed resolution was approved by the UN:

https://www.sott.net/article/338280-UN-Security-Council-unanimously-approves-Russian-drafted-resolution-on-Syria-ceasefire
The UN Security Council has unanimously passed a resolution drafted by Russia that endorses a nationwide Syrian ceasefire, which was earlier brokered by Moscow and Ankara.

The draft resolution prepared by Russia was officially presented to the UNSC on Friday, a day after Moscow sent the texts of two agreements signed by the Syrian government and seven armed opposition groups to the UN body.

The documents that "establish a ceasefire as well as obliges the Syrian government and the opposition to start direct talks in Astana in late January," Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin told journalists on Friday, speaking about the documents he presented at the Security Council meeting together with a draft resolution supporting the ceasefire in Syria.

He also said that all groups that genuinely want to join talks between the Syrian government and the opposition in Astana scheduled for early 2017 are welcome in the Kazakh capital.

Security Council members welcomed the agreements reached through the mediation of Russia and Turkey, and stressed the importance of its "full and immediate implementation."

The Security Council also expressed its support for the "efforts taken by Russia and Turkey and aimed at stopping violence in Syria and launching a political process." Council members stressed that they see the Astana meeting as an important step in the process toward the reconciliation of the Syrian conflict.

The UN body also reaffirmed its commitment to the "sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic" and reiterated that the only way to resolve the Syrian crisis is to begin a complex inter-Syrian political process.

A bad start, indeed. It's sad to say this, but I kinda expected something like this to happen. :(

Well if that is a message, it is more then just a little macabre.

A couple of days ago, Erdogan was the first president of a major country (geopolitically speaking), that said straight out that the US/coalition is directly supporting ISIS, and that they have picture and video material to proof it. On the same token, just a couple of days ago, the turks finalized their turkish stream plan, together with the help of russia. Links follow:

Erodogans statement:

-Turkey's Erdogan: 'Confirmed evidence' US-led coalition supports ISIS & other terrorists in Syria

The turkish stream and russia:

-Turkish government ratifies agreement on Turkish Stream
- Gazprom approves loan for Turkish stream
-Gazprom Plans to Lend Subsidiary $326 Mln to Finance Turkish Stream
-Gazprom to grant 310M euros for Turkish Stream’s construction

And that some of the gunman were apparently dressed in Santa Claus costumes, might be part of that macabre warning, since the original man, on which the Santa Claus story was build, was called Saint Nicholas and was living in Myra (now Demre) in Lycia, a province of the Byzantine Empire, now in Turkey. Apparently Saint Nicholas was not only living in turkey, but because of his generous and good deeds there, he became a saint for the christians and later the model on which Santa Claus was build.

Erdogan brands Istanbul attack ‘dirty game,’ vows to crush terrorism

https://www.rt.com/news/372412-erdogan-istanbul-attack-terrorism/

President Tayyip Erdogan has dubbed the New Year’s Eve shooting spree that left 39 people dead at an Istanbul night club “dirty games,” vowing Turkey will fight to the end against all forms of terrorist attacks. A manhunt for the attacker is still ongoing.

“They are trying to create chaos, demoralize our people, and destabilize our country with abominable attacks which target civilians,” Erdogan said in a statement, adding “we will retain our cool-headedness as a nation, standing more closely together, and we will never give ground to such dirty games.”

“As a nation, we will fight to the end against not just the armed attacks of terror groups and the forces behind them, but also against their economic, political and social attacks,” he promised.

Historically, in Turkey, leftists were almost the only party who consistently have had a firm stand against the fascist control efforts by the US both in Turkey and also around the world. But due to the dominant US control in Turkey, leftists have almost always been undermined politically although they have never ceased their activities and their influence. And although Mustafa Kemal was the great victorious anti-imperialist founder of the modern nation, the political party he specifically established, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), was gradually co-opted by the PTB and became one of their tools to a great extent. Although Kemalism is supposed to be strictly anti-imperialistic, his political party (the only political party for some time) and his army, the Turkish Armed Forces, have gradually become one of the most critical allies of the US and Israel in the region. And although there has always been a strong opposition between secularist Kemalists and political Islamists, two of the most important politically charged circles in Turkey, neither of them has actually opposed the obvious US domination of Turkey. Almost all Islamists in Turkey are rightist but it has always been controversial to what extent Kemalism and the CHP are leftist. The Party is supposed to be of the central left but as it came under covert US control, its leftism has just been a lip service although a significant part of its public base consists of sincere leftist and progressivist people. I believe that some elitist influential rulers of the party covertly made a deal with the US and the public base of the Party has been betrayed to a significant extent. There has been many covert US-led political pressures, conflicts and atrocities which led to significant divisions and conflicts among various categories of the nation, and the most of the Kemalist public base were led to believe that the main problem was about the opponents of the so-called Kemalist regime. More or less, the same applied to Islamists vice versa.

The AKP was most probably a US project in its beginnings. Majority of the rightist/Islamist people in Turkey have had no actual objection to US domination. Erdogan himself proudly stated that he was made a co-chairman of the Greater Middle East Initiative. But, I think, after Erdogan won the stupendous support of a significant part of the nation, he found the strength and courage to object to the share supplied by the PTB for his cooperation. He tripped Gulen up. He wanted more of the cake. And the more he was denied what he wanted, the more disobedient he became. The Syrian defeat, which extremely disappointed Erdogan, was probably the last straw that broke the camel’s back. Then he made an extremely unexpected move by showing the signs of shifting to the Russian-led bloc probably thanks to the very smart moves by Putin. I believe this is why the PTB has decided to down Erdogan.

I think this is a very strange turn of fate and, if it does not deviate itself, a gradual and great revolution no less than that made by Ataturk himself. Although Kemalists have been very keen to accuse Erdogan of being a US minion, they themselves still lack the insight and the courage to question the extent at which their own Kemalist Party and the Kemalist National Army helped the US domination ominously settle in Turkey in betrayal of the actual Kemalist legacy. What makes the situation still more interesting is that a majority of the AKP’s public base have also been caught in this political shift very unprepared. Many of them are very suspicious and anxious about the speed at which Erdogan loosens some hardcore policies based on political Sunni Islam, which tends to strictly oppose the “infidel Muscovy”. So I believe that what Erdogan does now will be leading to some significant inner questionings in all political circles.

Very bad start for Turkey after Endorgan said the USA coalition are supporting ISIS and has material to prove it.Things will be worst in the followings days.Just keep our eyes open and clear our ears.

Another very interesting development here:

UN Security Council approves Russian-drafted resolution on Syria ceasefire

The resultion has been unanimously passed in by the Security Council about the syrian situation. As Daniele Ganser describes a bit in his new book, called "illegal wars" (unfortunately only available in german, as of yet), a passed resolution from the security council is binding and has to be implemented, in contrast to resultions by the General Assembly, which are not binding and are just there as recommendations on what to do.

The last days it seemed like there was not going to be anything passed in the security council, since some members were not happy with the resolution, as presented. The resultion was created/put forward by russia and turkey. So then russia stepped in and made a new attempt (aka reframing that proposal), and then yesterday it was passed unanimously . Which means that all parties in the security council agreed to it, including the US. Which is more then just a bit astounding, to say the least. The resolution is about the peace process in Syria and it apparently has a interesting bit in it, namely the creation of a "transitional government". I think that might be the main reason why the resolution was passed, (and was probably drafted in a nifty way by the russians, for that reason!), so that US and Co. can agree on it, since it appears to give them the right/opportunity "to get rid of Assad".

Will be interesting what exactly installing a "transitional government" actually means and how that process is exactly worded in the document. I think (I'm not sure though) the Santa attack happened just a couple of hours after the passing of that resolution.

It almost sounds like some kind of mossad/zionist agenda, could be behind that massacre. Part of the message might be, sending a message to christians (against holy Saint Nicholas and all he stands for) and muslims at the same time (being in turkey, where Erdogan is president), apart from not being happy about the directions in syria.

THis resolution in the security council is probably also a direct result of the talks between russia, turkey and iran, a couple of weeks ago where shortly before that the russian embassador was shot dead in turkey. No coincidence I think.

Israel must certainly be having a bad hair day this past week! With The Peace accord, Russia and Putin working together, the pipline signed and Obama with the UN illegal settlements and occupied Palestine re-advertising all the try to keep hidden. Now Bibi being investigated (strange at this particular time). I don't think, I hope, it is not going to be a good year for them.

But also so many innocent victims die in their revenge/warning stakes.

I can't believe the nightclub owner knew the likelihood of an attack.

Also who warns of attacks - normally the ones doing such - Mossad.

However. Erdogan bred and fed terrorists and still does - shipping 150 to Yemen last two days. So he will have many who now call him a traitor.
Plus he is half way to getting his government to allow him to be a dictator until 2029! Where he can do precisely what Obama has just been doing! And worse.

There was another horrible event in Brazil:

http://eurasiadiary.com/news/world/96110-shooter-kills-at-least-11-and-himself-at-brazil-new-years-party

Shooter kills at least 11 and himself at Brazil New Year's party

A gunman stormed a house party and killed at least 11 people and himself during New Year celebrations in the southeastern Brazilian city of Campinas late on Saturday.

Police in the state of São Paulo said the shooter is believed to have been angry over a separation from his former wife, who was among those killed. Local media reports said the couple's 8-year-old son also died.

A police spokesman could not confirm the identity or age of those killed or whether a child of the shooter, who also remains unidentified, was among the victims.

Local media reported that a total of 15 people had been shot and several remain in critical condition.

A neighbor interviewed by the Globo television network said that he and family members heard blasts about a quarter to midnight but did not immediately recognize it as gunfire, not New Year fireworks.

Only when one of those shot ran into their property, bleeding and asking for help, did they realize that someone had been shooting. State police said they were called to the scene at 12:40 a.m. local time.

Although Brazil struggles with high rates of crime and violence, mass shootings are uncommon. Gun deaths are frequent in heists, holdups and in confrontations among police, drug gangs and other criminals, but shooting sprees like those often seen in the United States are not prevalent.

Campinas, an industrial and university city of over 1 million residents, is located about 100 kilometers northwest of the city of São Paulo, Brazil's biggest metropolis.

The owner of the Reina’s nightclub, Mehmet Koçarslan, claimed that extra security measures had been taken prior to tonight's incident after the club received a warning about a possible attack. He said that the information had come from US intelligence services.

US intelligence warned about such an attack about one week or 10 days ago – and measures were taken, including [on] the sea front. And look what has happened,” Koçarslan told Turkish daily.

What I can never understand is how no one seems to express any suspicion when it's revealed that warnings were given in advance by US intelligence services.

At what point is it acceptable to view such warnings (of which there have been many) as predictions, with foreknowledge and likely complicity?
The CIA et al offer these warnings because it increases their "stock" as the "all seeing eye" they'd like everyone to think they are, and therefore increase dependency on and collaboration with them by other countries.

With such intel agencies operating as 'ramified networks' and very much compartmentalized, it's possible that one compartment is directly or indirectly involved in planning the attack through their proxies, and then passes that information as "chatter" they "picked up" to another section of the CIA that then goes public with it.
