Hi,
In France it is interesting to see, behind the marketing, what Mr Sarkozy has been actually doing:
1 He is starting to implement Video cameras all over the country, like Mr Blair did.
2 A repressive package is being examined by the parliament
3 A tax reform is being implemented that allows the richest to pay considerably less
4 A program for "an ownership society" (société de propriétaire) is being implemented (encourage people to buy homes) (same moto as Neo cons)
5 Destruction of organised political resistance by ruining the credit of the Socialist Party
6 Going after his opponents (like Villepin and Chirac)
7 Filinf people including children
8 Restricting access to knowledge (university package)
Point number 5 is interesting.
Prominent members of the main opposition party joining the government just days after the election shows clearly that the official divisions don't matter, and that behind the scene, powerful organisations are at work. Usually leaving the appearence of an opposition is usefull for the Rulers because it acts as a safety valve for the system. Now, why doesn't Sarkozy grant himself a safety valve?
Maybe some events in the near future will require a Leader Maximo, a "sacred alliance" (in fact a totalitarian dictatorship).
the rest of the program is similar to what Bush has been doing in the USA.
Ludovic
