Session 3 December 1994

More on romantic musicals by Lerner and Loewe, Rodgers and Hammerstein
In the comment to Session 3 December, 1994, I discussed the origin of "Just you wait "Henry Higgins," just you wait!" from the musical, "My Fair Lady" by Lerner and Loewe. However, I missed going deeper into Rodgers and Hammerstein. Here is the context from the Session where they appeared:
A: [...] Long message to follow. Pause: Ukraine explosion; chemical or nuclear. Hawaii crash; aviation, possibly involving military. More California seismic activity after 1st of year: San Diego, San Bernardino, North Bakersfield, Barstow: all are fracture points. Hollister, Palo Alto, Imperial, Ukiah, Eureka, Point Mendocino, Monterrey, Offshore San Luis Obispo, Capistrano, Carmel: these are all stress points of fracture in sequence. "Time" is indefinite. Expect gradual destruction of California economy as people begin mass exodus. Also, Shasta erupts; Lassen activity. Ocean floor begins to subside. Leave channel open and pause: Queen Elizabeth serious illness; blood related. Princess Diana suicide attempt. Gas explosions this winter in NE United States, Texas and other. Supernova and unusual weather all over. Memphis feels tremors. Minneapolis banking scandal relates to mysterious Nordic covenant. Evangelical sexual tryst exposed. Gold is discovered in California after one of the quakes. UFOs dramatic increase and Gulf Breeze gets swarmed, becomes massive "Mecca". Laura sees much more UFO activity. Huge wave of UFO activity. All manner and origins. Just you wait, it will give you chills and that feeling in the pit of your stomach. Many aliens will appear and we will be visible too. Think of it as a convention. All must awaken to this. It is happening right now. The whole populace will play individual roles according to their individual frequencies. This is only the beginning. Just you wait "Henry Higgins," just you wait!

Q: (L) Are you a Rodgers and Hammerstein fan? {While “Rodgers and Hammerstein” is what I said, and the creators of “My Fair Lady” were actually Lerner and Loew, the general intent of the question was “musical comedy”.}

A: Yes.
In the comment, I referred to the thread about Romantic Fiction, Reality Shaping and The Work and wondered if the "Yes" from the C's to musical comedy went in the direction of romantic fiction considering this video "Lerner and Loewe: Broadway's Last Romantics". Later I listed some of their plays, and linked to their lyrics.

Below, I have skipped the lyrics and plot themes and instead collected a few playlists for both Rodgers and Hammerstein as well as Lerner and Loewe. To complement what I wrote about Lerner and Loewe in the previous post, here is:

A little about Rodgers and Hammerstein:
Rodgers and Hammerstein was a theatre-writing team of composer Richard Rodgers (1902–1979) and lyricist-dramatist Oscar Hammerstein II (1895–1960), who together created a series of innovative and influential American musicals. Their popular Broadway productions in the 1940s and 1950s initiated what is considered the "golden age" of musical theatre.[1] Five of their Broadway shows, Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I and The Sound of Music, were outstanding successes, as was the television broadcast of Cinderella (1957). Of the other four shows that the team produced on Broadway during their lifetimes, Flower Drum Song was well-received, and none was an outright flop. Most of their shows have received frequent revivals around the world, both professional and amateur. Among the many accolades their shows (and film versions) garnered were thirty-four Tony Awards,[2] fifteen Academy Awards, two Pulitzer Prizes (for Oklahoma!, 1944, and South Pacific, 1950) and two Grammy Awards.

Their musical theatre writing partnership has been called the greatest of the 20th century.[3]

Legacy
Rodgers and Hammerstein re-worked the musical theatre genre. Early 20th-century musicals, except for the Princess Theatre musicals and a few important examples like Hammerstein and Jerome Kern's Show Boat, were usually whimsical or farcical, and typically built around a star. Because the efforts of Rodgers and Hammerstein were so successful, many musicals that followed contained thought-provoking plots with mature themes, and in which all the aspects of the play, dance, song, and drama, were combined in an integrated whole. Stephen Sondheim has cited Rodgers and Hammerstein as having had a crucial influence on his work.[24]
Rodgers and Hammerstein also use the technique of what some call the "formula musical". While some hail this approach, others criticize it for its predictability. The term "formula musical" may refer to a musical with a predictable plot, but it also refers to the casting requirements of Rodgers & Hammerstein characters. Typically, any musical from this team will have the casting of a strong baritone lead, a dainty and light soprano lead, a supporting lead tenor, and a supporting alto lead. Although there are exceptions to this generalization, it simplifies the audition process and gives audiences an idea of what to expect vocally from a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. However, this formula had been used in Viennese operetta, such as The Merry Widow.
Next are examples of playlists, although there are a couple of films too.

Rodgers and Hammerstein musical music:
- Oklahoma
- Carousel 1956 movie soundtrack the vocals are not always clear compared to the instruments, neither on this, or the following Carousel 2018 Original Broadway Cast Recording One of the songs in this musical is You'll never walk alone, which apparently is a popular song at high school graduations.
- State Fair (1945) full movie

- South Pacific Overture from South Pacific-1949 Score on Columbia.
- The King & I (Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Julie Andrews & Ben Kingsley) A recording of the songs with comments. The quality of the recording that is uploaded is not the best, anyway they talk about the process of making the album, and even about singing.
The King & I: Recording A Hollywood Dream (1993) The same, but the sound is different, as if the high frequencies were cut out, however, there is no or less noise.

- Cinderella songs. See also A Lovely Night - Making of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (2004) - Julie Andrews, Jon Cypher. For the famous 1957 direct televised movie performance in black and white: Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (1957, Kinescope) - Julie Andrews, Jon Cypher, Edie Adams
- Flower Drum Song (Original Broadway Cast Recording) This musical has a setting in American Chinese culture, which at the time was a novel idea.
- Sound of Music
In addition, there is a mix, with great sound quality when compared to the old copied recordings: BBC PROMS 2010 - Rodgers and Hammerstein - Prom 49

Lerner and Loewe musical music:
- CAMELOT (ORIGINAL CAST ALBUM ON COLUMBIA RECORDS 1960). Starring Robert Goulet, Richard Burton, & Julie Andrews
- My Fair Lady - Original 1964 Soundtrack
- Gigi The Musical Soundtrack though the next is more uniform: GIGI - Lerner & Loewe. Musicals Collection. 1996
See perhaps also: Julie Andrews, Robert Goulet, Joel Grey present a Salute to Lerner and Loewe (15 min of stage performance).

Musicals and karaoke?
If the recordings are good the lyrics are easy to follow, but if one wishes to sing or study them one can probably find the lyrics and music scores on the net. For some songs, there are Karaoke versions. Since several have two singers, or solo singers and a choir, there can be many possibilities for experimenting if one is singing with a group of people. Moreover, as Rodgers and Hammerstein had songs for different vocal types, the baritone, soprano, tenor and alto, one might be able to work with that aspect of music too.

Queen Elizabeth serious illness; blood related

I think this prediction by the Cs was accurate given the medical evidence prior to her death and even though the royals through the media told: Queen Elizabeth died of ‘old age’, death certificate says,

People began to become aware of the Queen's health problems when on November 2021 she met with General Sir Nick Carter. The Queen's hands showed a purple hue.

Three days after a sprained back caused her to miss the memorial service at the Cenotaph, the Queen was back on her feet...conducting a face-to-face audience at Windsor Castle with General Sir Nick Carte....

Leukemia or Raynaud’s syndrome?

Twice during a span of three years, one tabloid, The National Enquirer, claimed the hemorrhages are a chilling clue that the 96-year-old is battling cancer and on the brink of death.

Longevity expert Dr. Gabriel Mirkin, a graduate of Harvard University and Baylor University College of Medicine, said bruising was a troubling sign.

“In an elderly woman like her, bruising that’s not the result of trauma points to the loss of clotting component and indicates a blood cancer, like leukemia or lymphoma,” he told the magazine.

With leukemia, the body produces large amounts of abnormal white blood cells — which fail to protect the body against infection.

“Leukemia kills because it leaves you defenseless against germs and cancer cells,” added Dr. Mirkin, who has not treated Her Majesty.

“It also causes your body to produce fewer red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the heart and brain — leaving you anemic. This can also cause clotting and heart failure.”

The 95-year-old monarch’s deep purple hands may be due to Raynaud’s phenomenon, in which spasms of blood vessels in the hands can cause decreased blood flow.

Raynaud’s syndrome can be caused by cold, stress, or emotional upset, according to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).

“Raynaud’s phenomenon is common and does not usually cause severe problems,” the NHS website states.

“You can often treat the symptoms yourself by keeping warm.

About Raynaud’s phenomenon

There are two types of Raynaud's:

~primary – when the condition develops by itself (this is the most common type)
~secondary – when it's caused by another health condition

Most cases of secondary Raynaud’s are associated with conditions that cause the immune system to attack healthy tissue (autoimmune conditions), such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

Secondary Raynaud’s can severely restrict the blood supply, so it carries a higher risk of complications, such as ulcers, scarring and even tissue death (gangrene) in the most serious cases. However, severe complications are rare.

Obviously we mortals are not going to know the truth, possibly revealing an illness of the Queen would be embarrassing for the royals.

A: Maternal influences. Psychological anxiety. Mother daughter rivalry for male attention. Enough personal dilly dallys. Long message to follow. Pause: Ukraine explosion; chemical or nuclear. Hollister, Palo Alto, Imperial, Ukiah, Eureka, Point Mendocino, Monterrey, Offshore San Luis Obispo, Capistrano, Carmel: these are all stress points of fracture in sequence. "Time" is indefinite.
Interestingly, after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Northern California near Eureka on 20 December 2022, a 4.5 magnitude earthquake occurred near Hollister just yesterday.

California was hit by a M4.5 earthquake.
