Sharing a little about myself: depression, experiences, musings, realizations

Thank you for sharing something that helps for you. I'll give it a try, see how it works for me.
What has been proving really good for me lately are the Amazing Guided Meditations on the cassiopaea youtube profile. I imagine that most on the forum would know them already, but I guess I'll post a link anyway, just in case someone unaware of them happens to read. Especially the last one is just incredible to me. And the one for past life healing is one I experienced right the day before suddenly feeling better. I have been wondering about that, but.. who can tell. (hopefully I've figured out how to post them properly).

Thank you all for the kind words. You all keep positive as well
I love the meditations too.

The idea with listening to affirmations is that we don’t have to actively listen, they can be on so we barely hear them and the subconscious does the rest. I think it’s called passive Work. I like to have affirmations playing while walking, as nicklebleu suggested as an antidepressant, then I get a double dose of free and healthy medicine. Of course there are still days where we struggle and fall off the horse. Just gotta get back on before the horse runs away and he’s hard to catch.

I too got a feeling of wellbeing after my first past life regression session. How incredible is it that we have access to all these wonderful tools and loving caring people who put in so much effort to help make our lives richer and more whole.

We are very blessed.

Good on you, Vajra91, for putting your first foot in front of the other!

I was also thinking about what you can do NOW to support and sustain that new-found positive feeling, and I wanted to ask you if you do any form of exercise.

Exercise is a funny one - often when it’s time to do it, you just hate the idea. I then have ten thousand other things that seem waaaay more important. But when I get myself up and going and I finish, I am feeling a lot better.

Now this doesn’t need to be anything drastic. If you don’t already have an established exercise routing, you could go for a walk every day - come hail or shine. Just a 30 minute stroll to start with. then you can increase your pace, or you could do something I do - I have an interval timer and on my 40 min walk I do 3 minutes or leisurely walking, followed by 3 minutes of faster walking. Some days I really push myself, some days my body says “take it easy, mate!” so I do everything a bit more slowly.

On top of that it is also good for the mind - exercise has been shown in many studies to be an excellent anti-depressant. And it teaches you a certain degree of self-discipline that will come in handy and support you in areas of your life where you may need to persist a bit longer doing things that are uncomfortable or you outright don’t like.

Hi nicklebleu. Thank you for your advice.

I don't have any exercise routine at the moment. It's another one of those things that I've only ever been doing once in a blue moon, when feeling a little better. Weight lifting and bodyweight exercises Always planning to keep at it every time I start, only to stop after a few days. I used to go to the gym somewhat regularly many years ago and indeed that was the period when I felt best about my body. Then my psoriasis showed up and I kind of caved in completely.

I'll say your advice sound pretty good. I have been thinking about starting to exercise again as I used to, and I think I will, but forcing myself to go for a walk everyday would be very beneficial, for sure. As I was saying, I've been living pretty much as a shut-in for way too long. Depression and a strong anxiety hand in hand. Doing that would be not only exercise, but also a way to step out of my comfort zone, get some fresh air, sunlight. I also just remembered reading somewhere, at some point, that stepping out of one's immediate surroundings can be useful to get out of bad thought loops, get new ideas.. Changing the energy one is exposed to, so to speak. Working on my body would also help me feel more at ease. Good idea all around, thank you.

You were saying in one of your posts that you are apprehensive about doing too much and ‘overspending’ yourself. This is a legitimate concern on one hand, but on the other hand, it can also be the voice of the negative introject that tries to keep things as they are now. You will have to find the right balance between the two, but I think pushing in your situation is probably overall better than ‘giving in’ and keeping things as they are, and if at some state you are starting to overdo it, you can always pull back some.

Keep at it!

I'm starting to lean in that direction too. It's gonna take some proper effort to break out of old habits, and as you say, I can always pull back later if I have to.

Hi Vajra91 youre on the right track -walk on !

I think what Nickelbleu shared was very resonant to me - going for a short walk each day- for me he doesnt have to be a hike up a mountain- just simply a half hour walk- in a park is great because oif the energy in nature-but even in a city there are good places that are far from the madding crowd! I use the walk as an opportunity to ground / become aware of my connection to earth .I tune into my breathing and try and breathe (without forcing or pushing) deep down into the belly -I can also see any old information/aches pains etc going down through my body into the earth- the breath and grounding aspect supports me into acsessing the present -here and now if you like.
Along with that theres the benefits of supporting cardio-vascular -respiratory(oxygen) and many other benificial components.

For me its great to be back walking after being quite unwell- as I was quite weakend I started with small walks and am now back to my normal level of walking. I always feel different in a better way than beofre the walk- sometimes more perspective and clarity ,other times witnessing something that inspires me or meeting someone I havent seen for a while ;)

easy does it come to mind but do it !

maybe fmoe watch out for the tendency to over do things - just be gentle and kind to yourself

enjoy the day

I will say, I'm not sure how to feel about the idea of passive Work. To me Working seems like something that requires a conscious, active, directed effort pretty much by definition, so the idea of passively listening and relying on my subconscious seems strange. But it is just an opinion. I don't think that I have the experience to truly give credit or disparage the idea. A constant exposure to positive messages might have a positive effect on the subconscious. Plus, the old adage, different strokes for different folks.

Of course there are still days where we struggle and fall off the horse. Just gotta get back on before the horse runs away and he’s hard to catch.

Indeed, as the days go by and my mental state stabilizes I find that the old habit die hard. As soon as difficulties arise or I focus on the hardships ahead, the old mindset comes back knocking. Just a couple of evenings ago it was an onslaught, I spent a few good hours just focused on keeping it at bay. But, I'm finding that making a choice does work. A true, deeply felt Choice. A "no" that comes from the heart, with true conviction, is enough to keep my mind clear. It seems like such a simple thing when writing about it.. But I couldn't do that until recently.

We are indeed. A world without this forum and these people would see me completely lost. Dreadful to imagine

It's good to hear that you're feeling better EmeraldR :-)

I also have a couple of nice little parks close by. Immersing myself into a more natural ambient every now and then sounds like a good way to go about this. Or maybe a mix of both, given my own challenges. Some grounding time in nature, some exposure to the hustle and bustle of the city. I'll keep in mind to notice my breathing too.

It's gonna be a challenge finding a balance, for sure. But like the other new challenges that are arising in my life right now.. They're welcome. It's a nice change.

Keep strong
