The Living Force
I just finished reading an article on questionable practices by collectors calling people and behaving in a threatening manner, even trolling for people on Facebook, Linkedin, etc.
These practices are a violation of ethics if the company in question is a member of ACA. Please note: In house collections by a company can try to play fast and loose with the rules of conduct, but if they are in violation with FDCPA, as far as I know, they can be fined. Always contact your Attorney Generals Office on how to proceed with a compliant, and also contact the BBB in your area too.
To find out if a company is a member (a complaint can be filed even if they are not) check this link:

Also available is a page on Research and Statistics, which has good info for general information on the industry, how identity theft actually happens, etc.

Knowledge does protect.
