Spiders from Mars

Has anybody done any research on inscect intelligence? Does size matter. I often wonder when I see a halo of tiny inscects at dusk all milling round in apparent random fashion, what drives them. Are there movements random? Do they recognise and communicate with each other? if so how. Where do thery go to at night and during the day? Dragon Fly's, a fairly long living inscect that goes through a metamorphic process from water to the air. I am certain that I have received messages from Dragon Fly's. The birds also and spiders. Am I really mad or is there intelligence that we are failing to recognise through our egocentric conceipt about being the centre of the universe?
Also, i can't remember exactly where it is, but i read a post about dragon flies actually dying of stress just by knowing that a fish(predator is near them in the water. Even if they are out of reach. FWIW.

Well thank you sir for the very first reasonable response to my original post so far. All the rest have been bully-boy tactics that certainly ought not to be being used on a novice to the forum. Far better to say nothing because that would get the message accross to me far better than the tirade of slagging off thus far received.

I thought your reply was useful and of interest and certainly displayed an abscence of dogma and a wish to connect in a constructive manner. Thanks again

Not sure what you are implying here, lennybruce. Are you being sarcastic?

lennybruce IMO you are bringing nothing of worth to the forum just pure nonsense...

The definition of self-importance might help you, if you are sincere about being part of this forum. If you are not sincere, it's really best that you spend your time elsewhere. If you post nonsensical or fantastical posts, that will be pointed out to you. If you ask questions, they'll be answered honestly. If you are here to try to boost your ego by pontificating on subjective theories, then your self-importance is going to take a hit or three - and this really isn't the place for you.

As a side note, the article davey72 was referring to was discussing how instincts react to predator stress, so I'm not sure what 'yeh right' means, but it's rude and unhelpful and therefore violating forum guidelines.

Ok chaps, come on, enough is enough. Can we just get sensible and adult about this because I am done with the myrth and my sense of humour is starting to dry up and stifle my laughs. Let me just assure you (but I know that you know) that my sincerity is beyond reproach. I could easily allow myself to be deeply offended by, not just this insult, but the oh so blatant manner in which moderators have descended on me like the SAS on Colenel Gadaffi after posting one innocent little observation about spiders. It is absolutely hilarious and I know that you are really just having a little joke with me right?
Sorry about querying the 2D prefix on the forum heading, I have only just started here and I automatically assumed that the D was for dimensional. I realised my mistake after the tirade of words telling me to go read this that and the other before posting. Please, have a little patience with newbies. Surely you understand that people do not have the time to go reading and researching voluminous documents, books and postings before getting involved. I deliberately selected an inconspicuous forum subject area to make my first utterance, fully aware that those of greater significance and meaning would require me to be pretty sure of my ground. I felt pretty safe doing a post about spiders but my God what a pulava about a simple little observation. Quite frankly I have not the slightest wish to get involved with this forum whatsoever after this, mainly because you are causing me to waste my valuable time replying to preposterous bully-boy tactics. I, quite clearly, have mis-judged you as badly as you have me because I thought I would find reasonable open-minded people here. C'est la vie. Au revoir est bon chance! (you need it more than me) :) :) :D  ;) ;D :P :cool2:

Huh looking at lennie's avatar and reading what he writes here couldn't help R.M. Renfield from Bram Stoker's novel popping in my mind, this is not 'bully boy tactics' just an honest observation :(

The web location is the product of a genius mind. What better than to have your web that travels at great speed from place to place sifting dinner from the atmosphere. How much more productive than a static web that waits for the fly to come to it. This creature has responded almost instantaneously to a new opportunity for survival by somehow assimilating the design of motor cars.

If you change the last words 'motor cars' for 'online forums', it all becomes very clear.Yes,the preditor has been fed.

Hello lennybruce.

There are no insults directed toward you whatsoever in this thread. You've been given an objective feedback from everyone who has participated here. Perhaps it would be best if you could ask yourself why do you perceive responses received from moderators as insults when it is clear as day to everyone here that that is simply not true? Could it be that you developed a habit to hear (in this case read) only what you want to hear instead of what you NEED to hear from others? I mean, check your reactions to moderators' replies... it is obvious that you're not satisfied with the responses you've received from them, and from other members as well. But you see, that is what objective feedback mirroring is, it is not there to satisfy your- or anyone else's for that matter- ego. FYI, no one is "having a little joke with you"- you've received an honest feedback here (and if that is too much for you to handle, I kindly suggest you find another forum that will be to your liking).

Hello Al-ith. I am sorry but I just do not get it. I guess I must be stupid, can you help me out.

Please, please, please may we just draw a line under this thread. I have heard you, how could I not. All that I can say in response is that I must have almost instantly lost touch with my identity because suggestions of insincerity, egocentricity, self-promotion just do not even remotely correlate with who I am and what I am about. And I absolutely refuse to be intimidated by numbers into believing any different by a bunch of people who simply do not know me. I always make it a policy never to make snap judgements of people based on limited information. This seems to me to be a fair and reasonable way to conduct ones relations with others. It surprises me massively that you seem to take the completely opposite stance and believe that on the basis of the small pieces that I have written here, you can reach the almighty judgemental conclusion that this place is not for me and that you have all of the necessary data to evaluate my entire character and personality with a dogma that epitomises everything that is wrong about a society where individuals get posted into pigeon holes and are typecast for life. I am finished with this. ;D

Lennybruce, this forum is based on the 4th Way method developed by Gurdjieff. One of the main assumptions of that work is that other people can see us more clearly than we can. That growth can only occur when we get rid of our self-importance and accept feedback from a sincere network. The feedback given on this forum is given with love for our real selves, believe it or not. I know it can feel harsh, but believe me, there is love behind the feedback. This method really works. In the 111 thread, Gandalf posted a quotehttp://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,25416.msg304639.html#msg304639 from Gurdjieff transcribed by Jeanne de Salzmann called The First Initiation, that many of us have to read over and over. Believe it or not, I have respect for you and your courage in following a difficult path completely on your own. But this forum has a working hypothesis that we can't do much of anything on our own. We need the help of a network. Gurdjieff's analogy is that we are in a prison and we need a team working together to escape. We can't break out of the prison on our own and everyone in the prison can't break out all at once either.

You mentioned somewhere that you will hold on to your view of yourself even if the whole world has a different view of who you are. This, while courageous and dramatic, prevents real growth. This forum also believes that true shamanism, as opposed to the corrupted version that uses mind-altering substances, requires working on oneself and the destruction of what Gurdjieff calls the False Personality. Again, this method really works, many people here have grown in ways they never would have imagined, but the price that has to be paid up front is to get rid of the lies we tell ourselves, especially those lies about who we are and what we know.

Are you willing to take that step? If so, great, this forum is the place for you. If not, then maybe this is not your path or place. It's really up to you.

lennybruce has been removed from the forum. He will be much happier elsewhere and we will be spared the rather unpleasant experience of dealing with 'him'.
