Starting on the ketogenic diet

If you're eating bread and cheese, you're not doing the ketogenic diet the way we do it here. Wheat and dairy are the very first things that should be eliminated when changing one's diet due to the inflammatory proteins gluten and casein. On this forum, it's not just about going low carb to lose weight, but about eliminating those foods which are the prime suspects in causing inflammation and a whole host of autoimmune disorders. This also includes processed foods and anything that contains MSG like soy. There are lots of sources online which are not as strict as here, but with all the research that has been done showing the damage these ingredients do to our body, we have chosen to avoid them. It's up to you whether you do the same.

Hi nothingman. I too, recommend "Primal Body, Primal Mind" by Nora Gedgaudas to get started. I`m curious as to what your diet is like now, if you don`t mind me asking? :)

Hi nothingman I too recommend Nora's work, her website Primal Body, Primal Mind has a wealth of information in addition to several videos talking about important points made in her book, I recommend Nora's videos to people interested in the diet and then suggest buying the book if the information resonates :D
Hope this helps

What did you mean by you "would really like to go to the next level"? Were you saying you wanted to take your health to the next level, your weight loss, both, neither?

Another thought provoking question!!.

The next level...

I know I shouldn't, but generally I usually measure 'weight loss' with my health!!! . That would be my issue I guess, although I have always had weight issues ... ie constant fluctuations of fat/thin throughout my life. All stemming from 'emotional' eating habits.

What I have started doing is devoting a time each day to the subject of food & breathing exercises. I am going to get some of these books and make a start date for the diet. I am planning actually for monday.

Anyways..... the next level is basically to be actively working on myself .... to become healthy in a physical sense, and also in a cosmic sense. Then I will be able to give more!!.

Thinking 'if you're thin you're healthy' is definitely a subconscious program from the media, so don't worry too much about your weight unless it's causing other health complications. :)

I don't know that I would recommend you go full keto so soon, wait until you've got some knowledge under your belt about what it entails and what you're in for. But I would definitely cut out the grains and dairy asap!

Glad you're making the decisions to better yourself. Keep it up!
