Hello,
Below is a call that was sent out widely to western Washington State activists, it contains a bit of background from an alternative perspective. "The Port Militarization Resistance" (what a great name!): I believe it follows that there would have to be a fierce response from TPTB.

"Port Militarization Resistance affinity group seeks supportive presence
Sunday, March 11, 2:00 pm
Federal Courthouse, 1717 Pacific Ave, downtown Tacoma

The majority of Americans are opposed to the quagmire in Iraq and are outraged that Bush is escalating the conflict by sending over 30,000 more US troops into the middle of a hopeless civil war.

Today, Port Military Resistance members ask for your support.

Tomorrow, Sunday March 11, a committed group of citizens from Olympia, Seattle, Port Townsend and Portland intend to engage in non-violent civil disobedience to prevent equipment from the 4th Stryker Brigade from being loaded at the Port of Tacoma on a ship bound for Iraq. This is an effective way to show support for the troops – prevent them from being placed in a position where they may kill or be killed.

In the spirit of Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others throughout history, we will engage in peaceful direct action to end our complicity in this immoral atrocity."

There are over a dozen videos on YouTube, and I checked, no major-network coverage of this event. "Film is not a crime" is a YouTube vid related to the incident. The description says:
Officers at the Port of Tacoma don't understand the rights of photographers or journalists. A group of about 6--8 officers (and a dozen more on the way, including a helicopter) accosted me about filming the port of Tacoma for coverage of the Stryker Brigade Protests.

Komo 4 and/or King 5 were standing near or in the same location earlier. But seeing that I was a student, they said they were arresting me, and then detained me for an hour in the back of a squad car. They did not read me my rights, nor did they care about my rights. As one officer told me, they don't care about "judges sitting in courtrooms with their black robes." He told me, "I don't want to hear you complaining about your consitutional rights, son. You're lucky we're letting you go." They took my car keys and (presumably) searched my car. They said they have a trespassing warrant out for me--so if I were to go back there, I would actually be arrested.

This port has been recently used for new shipments of Strykers, rockets, and other heavy military equipment straight to Iraq. This equipment has already been filmed by at least 3 news organizations, including aerial shots.
I wrote to CNN and asked why no coverage. You can, too, via this form: hxxp://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form1.html

Little bit of delay here, but, thank you, AdPop, for the further information and link to contact CNN. I think the corporate media can afford no coverage, of what some might call, REAL news: US citizens resisting sending war equipment to Iraq.

The big ship full of the Stryker military equipment did leave Washington State for Iraq. Below is an excerpt from story posted on Znet about the organized actions to prevent it.

As Resistance to Stryker Shipment Grows, Police Turn Violent on Peaceful Protesters March 13, 2007
Port Militarization Resistance release #7

“Despite the police violence on Friday, demonstrators have no plans to discontinue their campaign. "The fact that they had to choose a different, less accessible port and then sneak the equipment in under cover of darkness shows just how little public support there is for the ongoing quagmire in Iraq " said Wes Hamilton, a Vietnam veteran and member of the Olympia chapter of Veterans for Peace. He added, "The best way to support the troops is to prevent them from being placed into the midst of a civil war where they have a high risk of killing or being killed. We have a moral and humanitarian obligation to resist the use of our port." “
