Looks like this 'mess' or infestation stems from your childhood and teenage years? Did you bring or take it with you when you moved or left, maybe only subconsciously?

It is very possible. It is a bit tricky with dreams because sometimes message is not so clear to have any practical meaning & message may change after a while. As the C's very often say "Open".
