Received my Dot Connector magazine today (Massachusetts). It's beautiful. Thanks to all.

Nice! Hopefully that means mine will be in my mailbox when I get home from work. I've been checking the mail every day this week hoping that it had finally arrived.

I should have mentioned that the postmark date on the envelope from Montauban was July 28, 2011.

Is it possible to pay more and get faster shipping? If that option is made available, I might be willing to do that depending on price when I resubscribe.

Friday and still no Dot-Connector, looks like hurricane Irene is going to catch me having to stay indoors for two days with possible no electricity, but I still have Saturday to see if it gets here in time....wish me luck group!!!!!!

My copy arrived here in Georgia U.S. today.

Thanks SOTT team for all of your hard work and what looks like another great issue. I can't wait to read it!

The post mark reads July 27th so it took just over a month to get here (but it was well worth the wait!).

I managed to speak with the mail carrier today as he was loading the boxes where I live. My DCM has not arrived yet, and I thought it could be related to having many 'floaters' delivering the mail here, and that maybe one of them missed the fact that our names are on the box along with the owner's (who is on an extended journey.) The carrier assured me that he knew our name and then he told me what he thought was going on. I thought it could be something like this since others in CO have received their DCM issue.

Here is his story that could be why international mail getting to the US is in a story state of affairs:
Apparently once a year (he did not say when) the US high-up mucky mucks in the postal service industry get together with the other high-ups all over the world and settle the accounts of who owes who what since they all deliver eachother's mail.
Whenever the last meeting was, it was decided that most or no foreign country would be paying the US anything in the future. Why? I don't know, as the carrier did not know the facts behind that. Apparently, the US decided that this means it will not make any international mailings to the US, any kind a priority. Especially any bulk-rated mags are on low priority, but even registered international mail is not a priority and is treated as ordinary postage--and can be lost or take eons to arrive, if at all.

He said that Denver's main mail station that handles all incoming mail for Colorado, is one of the worst stations as far as organizing and delivering in the Nation. He said the station was in total chaos.

This is all his take on the situation, and I have no idea if this is factual or not. It could be why there is such a long wait for delivery of the DCM for some in the US, so I thought I would post about it.

Has anyone else heard anything similar to this about the US Postal Service?

Mine arrived this evening! :headbanger:

(Hubby called dibs, but I don't mind, just glad he likes to read it.)

Maybe some of you can also make inquiries in your area and see what they say? If this is true, there is simply no way we can ensure reliable delivery from outside the USA, and we'll need a new plan.

Somehow, I think that has more to do with cutting the US off from the outside world more than it does economic considerations between post offices in different countries...

:(

Unfortunately things don't seem on the way to improvement about U.S Postal, just saw this today:

Aug 30, 11 Still no delivery...HINT : Perhaps a better way to get the magazine here would be to box ship to a central location in the USA by Fed X (perhaps to SOTT in Colorado) then send by reg. mail from there...I would be glad to pay the extra postage and I'm sure that it would get here much faster...Comments please

Just so y'all know, I live in Central Florida and have not yet received the latest issue. I am pretty sure that my subscription is still good. I have not received a renewal notice, and would have immediately renewed if I had!!

This is not strange, I was one of the last to get prior issues. Although I am anxious to read it, I am patiently waiting. They have always arrived intact, it must be that this county is a little slow!

It could be coincidence, but after waiting 5 weeks (or so) for my copy of the DCM, I called the 1-800 number for the U.S. postal service and inquired if there was something going on with customs because of how long it was taking for the magazine to reach me, when it was being received all over the world several weeks before.

I got a call back, after the gal supposedly looked into it and said that customs does not hold up things like magazines. A week later, my copy arrived. This time, I, and my roommate, got ours rather quickly in comparison to last time.

fwiw

It will be interesting to see how long it takes the next issue to get here.
