The end of the road for Macron? French political crisis

Yeah, Sarkozy isn't a saint by any stretch of the imagination, but the timing is interesting. It just takes some heat off of Macron and Co. And may he still had had influence in 2023, and "they" didn't like his overt pro-Russian stance. I don't think it was politically motivated since most people don't seem to like him enough to vote for him again. But he could have been annoying some people?

Politicians who are in the club usually seem to have some level of protection from the sort of thing that has happened to Sarkozy. It's pretty rare unless someone has gone astray in their messaging in a damaging way. They get a golden handshake and a cushy position somewhere, or at least free reign to get rich and be shielded from the consequences of their actions. It's a sort of reward for their service to the power structure, it seems. The Epstein case being buried in order to send a message that psychos will continue to be protected comes to mind.

What could he have done to be so treated then? It remains to be seen how much punishment he will actually suffer, though. It could serve as a distraction but not really amount to much in the end.

It seems that his stay in prison will not be easy. As expected, some aren't happy with his "role" in Gaddafi's death.

Frankly, given the kind of character he is and his former behaviour in french politic and international affairs, he deserves a bit of karma lessons. IMHO

Looks like someone changed Brigitte's name in the official French tax registry to Jean-Michel

The wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, Brigitte Macron, was mistakenly registered under the male name “Jean-Michel” on France’s official tax portal.

The revelation comes from a BFMTV documentary, as per Caliber.Az. In a preview of the film, Tristan Bommé, head of the First Lady’s administration, described the incident, which occurred in September of last year during a routine check of Brigitte Macron’s tax records.

Instead of her correct name, a male name appeared in the portal. The documentary notes that the error was not due to a technical issue but the result of external interference.

The Élysée Palace took the matter seriously, and Brigitte Macron filed a formal complaint. Investigators were able to identify two individuals who were possibly responsible for the data tampering.

Claims about Brigitte Macron allegedly being born male first surfaced in 2022. In response, she filed a defamation lawsuit against medium Amandine Roy and journalist Natacha Rey, who had published a video in 2021 promoting the false claims.

In March 2024, Emmanuel Macron publicly refuted the rumours, calling them false and noting that such statements angered him. In June 2024, a trial began in Paris, resulting in Roy and Rey being fined €13,500 in September.

For several years, Brigitte Macron has actively fought this conspiracy theory. The Macrons have filed multiple defamation suits, including a complaint against American commentator Candace Owens. To definitively silence the rumours, the First Lady now plans to undergo a genetic test to confirm her female biological identity.

Earlier reports indicated that the Macron family’s legal team hired private investigators to collect information on Owens.

Well at first glance that’s hysterical. You have access to the entire system and that’s what you choose to do.

On second glance - could old tax records be about to leak, and this is preemptive cover to say “oh, they must have changed these really old records too”?

Cristina Fernández in Argentina, Bolsonaro in Brazil, and not to mention Maduro in Venezuela... regardless of political color, the "danger" for the "deep state" clearly lies in influential politicians who are close to or sympathetic to the BRICS axis, especially Russia.
Though I think Bolsonaro was quite the opposite - he did not exit BRICS, but did try being much more US-aligned like many of the "right-wing" governments in Latin America and elsewhere (Milei, Orban, etc.)
