"The Shelter"

A recent article posted on SOTT regarding Germans building bunkers (http://www.signs-of-the-times.org/articles/show/134747-Bunkers+in+vogue+as+cold+war+fears+rise+ ) to protect themselves from 'new' Cold War fears made me think of an old Twilight Zone episode entitled "The Shelter." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shelter_(The_Twilight_Zone)

"The Shelter" plotline involves a doctor who has built a Cold War fall out shelter much to the amusement of his neighbors and friends. Those same neighbors and friends become frantic, and turn on the doctor and his family who have locked themselves in their bunker when an atomic alarm sounds. In the end, it's a false alarm. The shamed neighbors/friends try to make amends, but the doctor realizes that the shelter was a selfish idea in the first place, and a magnet for trouble, given the conditions that prompted his one time friends to threaten violence towards him and his family. Rod Sterling, the host, ends the story with these words: “For civilization to survive, the human race must remain civilized."

In the aforementioned SOTT article, a German businessman refused to give out his name because he is fearful that his neighbors might come knocking. Yeah, they probably would. So might strangers...panicked, fearful, and full of predatory violence.

According to reports and FOIA government documentation, the PTB have been building deeper, more sophisticated shelters for protection against cataclysmic events, natural or otherwise. I suspect there will be some trouble in these underground bunkers, too. Not necessarily from without...but from within, given the psychopathic and STS nature of the supposedly safe inhabitants.

There was a time when I pondered the possibility of hoarding food, building a shelter...though deep down inside something warned me this would only lead to trouble. (I'm sure that particular Twilight Zone episode had a lot to do with changing my mind.) The C's say such thinking is 3rd Density STS. Yup. 3rd Density, all right. Definitely STS. I hope when the really dark times come, I will remain reasonably civilized, and find others who think the same...no matter what the cost to my 3rd Density container.
