:offtopic: Ahem! Being a planner myself I would be very interested in learning more about Your designs. Perhaps another thread, with pictures?

Sure! I know I have pics of the construction progress somewhere. But feel free to ask whatever questions come to mind. A new thread would be good since we are in danger of hijacking this one.

I started a new thread for this topic here http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,31019.msg408803.html#msg408803

Hello!

One pig can have 2 labor per year (2,1-2,2 in pig industry). After labor, every pig need to be with piggywigs not less then 3 months. After 3 months pigs are heavy about 10-12 kg, and they can eat normal food (not any more milk). After that period they will eat more and you will have nice pigs.

Mangulica approximately raise body mass about 750 g per day. This is approximately about 20 kg per month. In beginning less of course, because they are young.

First time when you can eat pigs is in period when they are about 20 kg and more. In this period people usually bake them. Thispig are old about 4-6 months (it depends about variety of pig, kind of food...)
If you want make sausages and bacon, you need to have bigger mass, pig with more then 130 kg.

It is interesting that pigs before mass of 130 kg have better conversion food into meet, and after 130 kg conversion goes more into fat.... this is reason why you need big pig for good bacon.

I hope that I give you interesting informations.

Have a nice day.

For those still interested in Mangalitsa pigs in the USA, I found this resource:

It lists breeders by state.

There may be a problem viewing in Firefox, but it works in Chrome.
