Thor, the movie opens in 2 days

The trailer looks very interesting!

And the movie is also with Natalie Portman. :P

I say go to the regular version.
Went to it in 3D last night. First time seeing anything in 3D.
Not only was it distrating by flying debris and snowflakes but it is very tiring on the eyes even if it does looks pretty.
I liked the film even if I felt it was little simple. As for the acting I've seen worse and I did enjoy the characters.

Guardian, I'm interested in your reaction to the 3D technology. What was your impression?

I didn't like it at all, it was fuzzy and I think it looked much better if you do an Odin impersonation.

Yeah, I've seen one movie with that technology and hated it, so I was curious. It sounds like it might have been a distraction for you, visually - but I found it to trigger an almost instant dissociative state, more so than the usual 'movie watching dissociation' that happens, which is one of the reasons I'll avoid it in the future.

No dissociative state, but VERY blurry..definitely not something I'll try again.

This sounds interesting because in the new videogames consoles and games, the companies are trying hard to introduce the 3d technology.

I liked the 3D in Avatar, which was also the first 3D movie I've seen. Most of the other 3D movies did not use this technology really well - there was hardly a difference between watching a regular and 3D version.

Just saw Thor (non-3d), and really enjoyed it. It was genuinely funny when needed, and set the mood and atmosphere just right in every setting. I did pick up on some references to 4D, and I think Thor and his realm were very well portrayed, as well as his/their interaction with our world. For example, Odin surprisingly showed real wisdom, not just stupid Hollywood movie "wisdom". And of course the special effects were top notch, and overall it was a really fun and engrossing film to watch, and I recommend it. I wouldn't bother with the 3d version, I keep hearing that it really doesn't add anything to this movie (or most movies), and is mostly just a distraction. The presentation is extremely effective in good old 2d.

There were a few minor quirks, but I don't want to get into them as I'd have to reveal some details that may spoil the movie. But they don't detract from the overall experience, osit.

I just got back from Thor. Saw the 3D version because I didn't have a choice, the theater only offered the 3D version. I thought the 3D was really bad and didn't add anything to the movie. I recently saw Yogi Bear 3D-- and I thought that movie had better 3D than Thor.

I agree with SAO. I enjoyed the movie a lot- I though the humor was great and I picked up the references to 4D as well. The visuals were amazing! Definitely worth the watch

Side note: In the theater, the girl next to me was on her cell phone the entire time texting! At one point I turned to her and politely asked her if she could put her cell phone away for the duration of the movie. She didn't say anything, just covered the light of the cell phone, and continued texting. She did it a few more times really quickly, and then stopped. It was quite annoying seeing the cell phone light and hearing the button clicking while trying to pay attention to the movie. It was so weird because she seemed like she wasn't even interested in the movie one bit. I assumed she was keeping her friend company, and didn't want to be there at all. It was really annoying. I mean... I can't believe some people can't go on sitting for 2 hours without their cell phones. Sheesh!

Just saw Thor yesterday. There are so many movie theaters in town, so I choose to see the one in non-3D, which is about 30 miles away. For me, I don't like 3D because, like Guardian, it was blurry to me plus it gave me a headaches just watching it (last time I watched something in 3D was Avatar). I have to say, saying Thor is even better in 2D, and was glad to hear that Deedlet commented on 3D having no addition to the movie.

I agree with SAO and Deedlet. I've enjoyed the movie - the humor, visual, and 4D-references aspects.

I moved seats at least once to get away from people on their phones, and this was before the movie. We were lucky, the staff at this movie house make announcements before the show, and state "Our managers are like ninja's, if you keep your cell phone on during this movie, they WILL CATCH YOU. And we have the right to make you leave if you have to be warned more than once."

So, no cell phones were abused during the show. :D

I think your problem might be the "politely" part ...people who aren't being polite seldom respond to polite. Next time try "Turn off the damn cell phone NOW" in a loud, stern voice. Works for me every time. :)

I have a strong 'be nice' program, so I like to avoid confrontation whenever possible. It took me a while to muster the courage to even say what I said, so I think I did good for me :P

Besides... you never know what could be going through someone's head these days with HAARP and everything going off. If you piss someone off they might hurt you or something, and I rather not get into a huge thing over something as stupid as a cellphone.

I saw the movie Avatar in 3D, the first and only 3D movie i've seen. I got a headache that I did not recognize and dissociative state that I drifted in and out of. I will never do that again, it was really uncomfortable. Its not worth having a few 3d-effects appearing slightly closer :|
