Well, Monday is the day I evacuate my family from our former wonderful home in south Alabama. I loved it here. The tall pine trees, the major population of dragonflies (that land on you if you are still!). The sunsets, the humid mornings, evenings, middle of the nights lol.... the warm salty air (well once upon a time before April 20th). The sand! Wow I love the sand. Walking barefoot in the stuff, tracking it inside, in the car, in the bed, in our hair. The red clay dirt all over the car tires. I even dyed a white tee-shirt in the clay mud and it held the color! The Magnolias, my oh my, it's a heavenly sent. The rainstorms here confused me at first, coming in mostly from the south instead of the west or north. And all of this in my own backyard! Not to mention the wonderful beaches we used to go to.
I'm new here (only six short months sense we moved) in the great deep south, and now it will be another wonderful set of memories my family will talk of for hopefully years to come. The pain is great for me and the kids, but it's better safe (with knowledge) than sorry (with ignorance).
Thanks Alabama, you hold a special place in my heart.
In three days I may be off of the forum for awhile as we settle in and get new internet services.
Thanks for supporting me through this ordeal everyone!
