The leak of benzene from the crashed railway tanker in Hustopeče nad Bečvou in the Přerov region could have a huge impact on the environment, says Pavel Hradil, a chemist at the Faculty of Science in Olomouc. Benzene is a carcinogenic substance that can damage groundwater.
