True Blood

I watch this one too. The dynamic`s and the interactions between the actors is pretty amazing.
I was surprised to discover that the filming was all done in Australia and that most of the actors are Australian.

It has be difficult for them to do that great deep southern accent, but they do it very well.
I find I can relate to Tara whenever she discovers "another" sort of creature exists in the world..have had that same sort of reaction myself, to the real world and our own myriad of unsuspected "creatures".

I've caught a few episodes on late night tv here in the uk. It was pretty good, and for a while I did my best to watch it....but that faded.

I'm curious about how much television you all watch?

~added later - I'm not going to come down on you for it ;) - just really curious, since it seems to be more than I would have thought - knowing what we know about tv and all. ;) ~

Seems that my desire to watch anything on TV has diminished greatly over the last year or so (a side effect of E-E?)....with only a few exceptions. My parents watch a lot of TV, and tend to have CSI on in the evening, which I like to watch with them (unless I've seen the episode before, at which point I'll do something else). My girlfriend and her family watches a lot of TV too, so I end up watching TV there....mostly the TV is on while I am on my laptop reading.
The only other things I make a point of watching are Doctor Who (uk sci fi), and the new V series which is about to start showing over here.
I'll catch a few films on TV, or dvd. Mostly my time is spent cooking, at work or on the computer.....don't seem to have much time for much else, although I'm trying to make more time for reading and other things at the moment.
In total I probably watch 6-7hours a week....maybe 10-12 if you count me working on my laptop in a room with the TV on :/
Hmm...thats actually quite interesting.

I'm wondering now if maybe I could make an effort to create some space to work away from the TV?

As to relaxing in the evening after work, cooking/eating good food helps, a hot bath or shower, and doing the E-E program are probably the 3 things I use to relax in the evening now....TV just doesn't relax me!!
I think at this pace, this time next year I won't watch any TV. fwiw

the latest season was equally engaging and its end left me craving for more.
Maybe I am trying to find excuses for this show, but as the plot unwinds it is becoming more and more clear this is not you usual vampire stuff. There are a lot of subplots about soul struggle, toxic family dynamics, good vs. evil, magic, drug abuse etc. The interesting concept was 'psychopath amongst the vampires ' which could be parallel with psychopaths that go off vs. those that fit into society.
Also in season three in addition to previously encountered mnayads, werewolves. shape shifters, vampires there are also fairies - said to have alien origin.
I definitely give it thumbs up and I am not ashamed of it :P

Yup Cotoro, I agree! It's a good show. At the season finale I was like Nooooooo!!! Don't want to wait till next summer to find out what happens!

But one thing I do wonder about is how 'good' they're going to portray these Aliens. Like the same ol' aliens have the best interest at heart for humanity deal? I find it's leading towards that which is a bit of a turn off (at least for me). But if we want to know, we have to keep watching or read the books.

Actually, a friend of mine who's read all the books told me the books are MUCH better than the series and I do believe it- since that's usually the case with books turned to movies/shows. Maybe if I find the time, I'll check em' out. :P

I hardly ever watch TV shows but I admit loving True Blood.

Judging from the first minutes of Season 4 released recently, I think we can be reassured on that point: _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKNNSasBUOU

Interesting how fairies are revealed as evil/deceptive creatures harvesting humans and making their "abductees" lose all sense of time… while externally appearing as protective and magical beings living in an idyllic plane.

I don't have a TV, but watch films and series online, how much depends a lot on how busy I am, at times of big depressions/if I'm sick, I watch more, at times I'm doing better I'm usually more into creating stuff than watching other peoples stuff.
I also have a personal interest in how to express things through pictures, and stories, how to make dialogues, and of cause there is a lot to learn by watching how others do it.

I read SOTT page for news, and sometimes worry that I have blind faith in the SOTT people, because I can't find the time and energy to read all news in the world, (don't know how you guys do it) and I don't have brain capacity to find out everything that is true and lie, so I choose to trust the people I have come across that seem most trustworthy to me, and who have often confirmed things I suspected. What I suspect is usually based on intuition more than studies, like my first thought when I heard about 9-11 was "they did it themselves" though I wasn't into conspiracy theories, and when I came home and watched the news, (I was living with someone who had a TV at that time) and saw the pics of alleged terrorists, I was gullible enough to take it as proof that my first thought was wrong

I do enjoy the True Blood show, (confess I was almost feeling happy for two hours watching the first two episodes of the new season) -though it is kinda pop, it is very high level pop IMO, HIGHLY entertaining, good story telling, and very well made characters, and beautiful pictures. (and love that accent too)

I like a lot the looks of the prota, he looks like the new dracula, and the mythology, it is for me a really fresh vampire story. So bad that I do not see Tv now, I just don't feel the need as before.

Hello everybody!

I never watch TV... And when I say never, I mean it...

But I came across True Blood accidentally and I have to say that I'm quite surprised by these series...
Of course, it has a lot of pop culture and images that are quite impressive... As I don't watch TV this images stay in my head and it bothers me sometimes.

Yet, I wanted to point out some interesting things about this series.

The Vampires being a reflection of psychopaths, the maynad, which sucks the energy from luxury and excess and which is a very old creature. The shape-shifters, werewolfs, and last, the fairies (aliens, the old people), who where though to be wiped ou of existence by the vampires, the cross breading between these fairies and humans, and the fact that their blood is so exquisite to vampires.

I think there are quite a lot of interesting aspects of these series to talk about. And it is an interesting way to make suppositions about how to protect yourself from this things... Even though most of it might not be true... I feel that the person who wrote this books might have been really into some esoteric books...

I really like when the maynad says that it was Tara who summoned her. That by playing with that kind of energy you can summon powerful things... It makes me think about what I heard in the Knowledge of Being... About how you can call things by experimenting with the esoteric without knowledge, and how these powerful things might want you for dinner... in some way...

I also like the idea of having to invite a vampire in, because otherwise it can't come in. Makes me think about what the Cs say about abductions, and that people who are abducted made an agreement with that in a way. And also the general idea that "entities" won't bother you if you don't let them in, with the difference that 'in' means, in your head... lol

I really like the serpent-like sound that you can hear when vampires are glimmering people in True Blood. Being able to hypnotize, paralyzing you when they bite you, sucking your live force (blood), seeing humans as food... sounds familiar?

And, as some of you wrote before... they do show vampires as cool, sexy, etc... But finally they are always just following their own interests, even Bill is doing that, and Sookie is starting to notice that.

I was thinking a lot about this archetypes... Elves, vampires and zombies. lol!

I came to an idea... Like, vampires and elves are what humans can be... creatures who look like humans but have some 'magical' powers and abilities. But vampires and elves are different in how they use their powers. So Vampires will be more STS and Elves are STO...

The zombies would the representation of the human as a simple machine without any live in it... Without any conscience, etc.

Well, I know... It must be just my imagination, but I just wanted to share some thoughts...

I highly recommend True Blood.

I didn't see the 4th season yet, so I don't know where it goes... But I definitely think it is something to watch...

Best wishes for all of you!
