22.06.2018 - WikiLeaks Reports ICE Employee Database Amid Separation Policy Scandal
WikiLeaks Reposts ICE Employee Database Amid Separation Policy Scandal

The WikiLeaks created domain, hosting the notorious database of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) employees, was compiled using information from open sources. The link to the database was posted on WikiLeaks' twitter, where it noted that the data had been provided to the social network voluntarily.

The database contains personal information on ICE employees, including their names, job history, photos and even addresses.

The database was compiled by the Twitter user, named Sam Lavigne, using data from the LinkedIn social network. He published it on different resources such as Medium and Github, but they were all taken down by their respective administrations. Despite it, the data base was spread among internet users, including members of such notorious organizations as the Antifa movement, with one of its branches also reposting the ICE database.

A "zero tolerance" policy, introduced in April 2018, led to a practice of forcibly separating the children of illegal migrant from their parents by border guards. US President Trump issued an executive order stopping this practice on June 20.

The policy generated massive public outrage against the Trump administration. The US president had previously insisted that the Department of Homeland Security was strictly following the law in its actions and urged Congress to change the situation by closing "loopholes" in legislation that migrants actively use in order to stay in the country.

Well, this issue has really blown up - and rightfully so! One of my most imperative assertions:
TWO WRONGS DO NOT MAKE A RIGHT!

This issue seems to be uniting the country against Trump in a way that nothing else has. Even Melania has politely weighed in! The Dems have to be loving this while also genuinely (I hope) caring about these innocent political pawns. I do feel it is essential to keep track of these children and above all else, keep them safe and out of the hands of human traffickers. These children are traumatized by circumstances beyond their control and ripping them away from their parents cannot be justified. "We" are better than that! Trump needs to wake up and smell the coffee on this one!
Quite a bit has surfaced since I posted the above in another thread last Tuesday re the zero-tolerance policy toward illegal immigrants w/ children. Trump has smelled the coffee by signing an executive order & attempting to do more re this problem; Melania has visited Texas facilities housing migrant children. It's become very clear that the perception of this issue has been seized upon as the best weapon to wield against Trump along with prime distraction from the IG report findings & proceedings.

Exhibit 1:
2018-06-21_10-46-00.jpg

That's right - a photo is worth a thousand words - especially when used "as a symbol of the pain of families being separated by U.S. government officials" & in this photoshopped pic, represented by that ultimate, heartless meany, President Trump. Time magazine failed to tell the real story of this little girl:
Migrant Mom and 'Crying Girl' On TIME Cover Separated HERSELF From Husband With Good Job, 3 Other Kids, Paid Coyotes $6K to Sneak Into the US

The truth has come out about the two-year-old Honduran girl the media has plastered all over television and the cover of TIME Magazine to convince America to open her borders.

As Ann Coulter said, "It's all a scam."

Natural News also did a great piece on this as well:
ALL FAKED! Fake photo, fake news, fake media and the engineering of fake outrage to push an open borders invasion of America

(Natural News) The now-infamous “family separation” photo you see below, taken by John Moore and licensed by Getty Images, has become the emotion-infused rallying cry for fact-devoid Leftists to demand unlimited open borders that would flood the United States with illegals.

Fake-news-photo-migrant-girl-crying.jpg

It has now emerged that the photo is “fake” in the sense that the girl wasn’t separated from her mother at all. Young girls cry for a million reasons: They’re sleepy, they want more ice cream, they don’t like the food, and so on. But the deceptive left-wing media claimed this girl in particular was crying because she was forcibly separated from her mother by U.S. Border Patrol.

That claim, we now know, is a complete lie.

But it fits the convenient narrative of the insidious Left — which cares nothing about actual facts — and so the photo has been widely circulated on Fakebook and even used to raise nearly $20 million in donations for pro-open borders front groups (see below). The people who donated money to the campaign were duped, of course. The photo is a “fake.” The girl was never separated from her mother. The entire fundraiser is fraudulent, fake news.
[...]
Getty Images captioned the photograph by indicating that the mother and daughter had been “sent to a processing center for possible separation” (emphasis added).

Now, Hernandez says that his wife and daughter were never separated by Border Patrol agents and that they remain together.

Hernandez also told the Daily Mail that he did not support his wife Sandra’s decision to leave their home and travel through dangerous conditions to seek political asylum in the U.S.: “I didn’t support it. I asked her, why? Why would she want to put our little girl through that? But it was her decision at the end of the day.

“I don’t have any resentment for my wife, but I do think it was irresponsible of her to take the baby with her in her arms because we don’t know what could happen,” he told the Daily Mail.

He said she had talked about going to the United States for a “better future” but she did not say she had made the decision to take the 1,800-mile trip — paying a “coyote” smuggler $6,000 to take them.

Here’s a recent photo of the family riding in what appears to be a luxury vehicle, with the mother smiling and the daughter riding along:

Honduran-family-migrants-little-girl-vehicle-302x403.jpg

[...]
Furthermore, it emerged that the mother had been previously deported in the U.S. According to her husband in Honduras, she left him and three other children in early June without informing him, paying $6,000 to a “coyote” smuggler to take her northwards so she could seek better economic opportunities.

That’s what Time magazine tweeted this morning. It is trying to place the blame for Trump’s immigration policy - specifically, his separation policy - on all Americans.

Time wants us to stand up for the children.

But Time says nothing about the slaughter and starvation of children in Syria, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, and in particular Yemen. The US is assisting the Saudis in their genocidal war against the Houthi. It’s helping the fascists in Ukraine kill civilians in Donbas. It’s selling murder hardware to dictators and sadists.

When was the last time they did a cover denouncing Trump for his bombing campaigns in Syria and Iraq that have killed thousands of civilians? Are dead babies buried in rubble less important than immigrants from Mexico and Honduras?

Time’s publisher, Henry Luce, had a close relationship with the CIA. CIA employees traveled with Time-Life credentials as cover in the 1950s. The Luce family financed efforts to kill Fidel Castro.
“In the 1950s and early 1960s, Time magazine’s foreign correspondents attended CIA ‘briefing’ dinners similar to those the CIA held for CBS,” writes Carl Bernstein. “And Luce, according to CIA officials, made it a regular practice to brief Dulles or other high Agency officials when he returned from his frequent trips abroad. Luce and the men who ran his magazines in the 1950s and 1960s encouraged their foreign correspondents to provide help to the CIA, particularly information that might be useful to the Agency for intelligence purposes or recruiting foreigners.
Luce is long gone and Time - a staunch Republican periodical during his time - has since embraced the establishment’s shift to “progressive” politics. It is now the preferred political control mechanism.

The rotting piles of corpses - many of them children - in the Middle East and Africa will never make it to the cover of Time magazine. Endless war does not elicit the same kind of squishy humanism on the part of Democrats and liberals as the mistreatment of children crossing the border.

The establishment hates Donald Trump even as he goes along with the agenda - the same agenda followed by Obama, Bush, and Clinton. He’s an outlier. It was Hillary’s turn and Democrats are pissed this brusque former casino and real estate magnate “stole” the election by exploiting the anger of the American people.

Not much has changed. We are still the kind of people who turn our backs on the victims of endless war in the name of a crumbling empire.

Our emotions are manipulated by the state and its propaganda media.

Are we the kind of people who will ever wake up and discover the political system in America is controlled by the elite, the financial class and its groomed and paid off political hacks who take money from banksters and death merchants?

The possibility grows more remote with each passing day.

One more take on that Time cover - the other thing the MSM refuses to factually present:

timespoof.jpg

Say what you want about Trump, but one fact holds true until now; He is in office for one and a half years and there hasn't been any new overt war being launched against another country. Just thought about it and that this is something that is actually pretty good and somewhat new for the US.

He already was being pushed dangerously into the direction of war with Syria, Iran, North Korea and Russia and to a somewhat lesser extent China. All didn't happen. I hope he can keep that zero score for the next 6,5 years. Not likely though, but so far it is actually looking pretty good at that front, wouldn't you say? Instead he makes peace with North Korea and stays to his word of suspending the american war games with South Korea infront of Kims Nation. There are also very interesting developments from russia and china behind the scenes which will probably have an effect on the idea of ever again committing war crimes against the the rules of the UN.

One can only imagine the horrors a Hillary would have brought over the world. We were really lucky. Unfortunately I think there is a good likelihood that she will run again, since such a totally despicable person just can't loose and wants revenge no matter what the costs.

Back to Trump. Although his conduct in a number of areas might be viewed as peculiar by some, it seems like he is fulfilling his promises of making "Amerika great again". According to him, important economic indicators like unemployment rate and and others like it are "the best that they have been in a long time" (see video below).

So his main focus still seems to be the american homeland and improving its living and economic standards. Instead of waging endless wars abroad. Now he wants to revive the space industry in a big way by creating a new "space force" together with a plan on landing another american on the moon and soon on mars, while putting more money in space-science at the same time and encouraging american billionaires to "get their first" with their own private rockets while creating more jobs through it at the same time. He also wants to have a new space traffic system. All fine by me; Let them put their money in space, rather than into wars. Actually a smart move I think. Let them fly to the moon and mars instead!

June, 23, 2018 - American Analyst Calls Trump’s Advisers ‘War-Loving Psychopaths’
American Analyst Calls Trump’s Advisers ‘War-Loving Psychopaths’ - Tasnim News Agency

An American political commentator deplored the US government’s propaganda campaigns against Iran and North Korea as “xenophobic” and said President Donald Trump’s advisers are “all war-loving psychopaths”.

“I can only say again that the attacks in the media and in Washington, against both Iran and the DPRK are both racist, imperialist, and xenophobic,” he said, adding, “That is always there right beneath the surface.”

Steppling is a well-known author, playwright and an original founding member of the Padua Hills Playwrights Festival, a two-time NEA recipient, Rockefeller Fellow in theater, and PEN-West winner for playwriting. He is also a regular political commentator for a number of media outlets around the world.

Following is the full text of the interview:

Tasnim: US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un concluded their recent historic summit in Singapore by signing a deal that included a pledge to “work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.” What do you think about the agreement and how do you predict its success given Washington’s non-commitment to international treaties?

Steppling: Well, the first thing to note is that in the US, the Democratic Party is complaining openly about this. Liberal op-ed pieces in places like the NY Times are consistently negative. It is just stunning. One might almost think the Democrats were the real war party. Chuck Schumer, and it should be noted that Schumer is right at the top of the list of the most odious American politicians of his generation. Schumer is aghast at the summit with Kim Jong-Un. The minority leader is attacking Trump from the right, as are most of the Democratic Party. Now, the second thing to note is that yes, of course, the US has a long history of not keeping their word. However, I am struck by the disturbing orientalism of even supposed leftist commentators. The DPRK is routinely described as an Orwellian garrison state and totalitarian and the like. This is from the left. There is a terrible racist underpinning to these kinds of remarks. One expects NY Times type liberals to lament anything Trump does. If he found a cure for cancer they would demand Cancer be allowed to exist and have agency. I mean it is truly bizarre. But it is particularly depressing to have so many self-identified leftists demonize North Korea, as well. Having said that, the truth is the people of North Korea have survived in a heroic fashion after total destruction by the US in the early 1950s. The fact that "we" don't "understand" the culture is simply that. I've never been to the DPRK. But Christopher Black, a noted human rights lawyer from Canada, HAS been there. He traveled there with a group of international lawyers and together they issued a statement...and I quote an excerpt...: "The people of the world have to be told the complete story about Korea and our government’s role in fostering imbalance and conflict. Action must be taken by lawyers, community groups, peace activists and all citizens of the planet, to prevent the US government from successfully generating a propaganda campaign to support aggression in North Korea. The American people have been subjected to a grand deception."

Tasnim: As you know, Trump recently announced the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, US, Britain, France, and Germany). Prior to the move, the US had repeatedly violated the international pact by imposing numerous sanctions against the Islamic Republic. Given Washington’s non-commitment to such an important international agreement, what would be a guarantee of success of the US-North Korea deal?

Steppling: What is interesting in this deal is how it relates to the JCPOA. National Security Advisor John Bolton has openly referred to the "Libya Model". Meaning, after promising Libya and Qaddafi certain things in return for elimination of nuclear development (under Bush) the US came to destroy the country and assassinate Qaddafi. So it is hard to believe the US means what it says this time. On the other hand, it feels perhaps too cynical in principle to simply discount the agreement. You also have to factor in the significant role China plays in the North Korean economy. Trump's advisors are all war-loving psychopaths, so the logical conclusion is that this is the first step toward some sort of conflict....either with the DPRK or with Iran. What the actual logic might be is anyone's guess. But it is a fair assumption to believe that China looms as a strategic consideration.

The US sees the world hierarchically. Countries are ranked in order of importance and the US is always at the top. For many, this American exceptionalism is buried beneath other kinds of rhetoric, but it is there all the same. Some countries can have nukes and some can’t. It is, from the politicians' point of view, demeaning to be seen talking to "certain kinds of people". Unless of course, those people are buying lots of weapons (think Saudi Arabia). I can only say again that the attacks in the media and in Washington, against both Iran and the DPRK are both racist, imperialist, and xenophobic. That is always there right beneath the surface.

Tue Jun 26, 2018 - Trump Turns on Mattis, Taking Military Matters to His Own Hands
Farsnews

US President Donald Trump turned on Secretary of Defense James Mattis and is now increasingly taking military matters into his own hands, according to a report.

Mattis, for example, was kept in the dark as Trump made the decision to withdraw the US from the Iran nuclear deal in May. The Pentagon Chief learned of the decision from a colleague and tried to get the President on the phone before a formal announcement was made, NBC News reported on Monday.

Trump also did not discuss with Mattis his decision to halt US military exercises with South Korea, which was announced following the landmark summit in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un earlier this month, according to the report.

Last week, Trump again blindsided his Defense Secretary by publicly directing the Pentagon to establish a sixth military branch overseeing operations in space.

"They don't really see eye to eye," a former senior White House official stated.

The way these recent policy decisions have played out underscores a significant change in Mattis's role in the administration, with Trump relying less on the advice of one of the longest-serving members of his cabinet, officials said.

It also represents a significant departure from Trump's early enthusiasm for the retired four-star Marine general he proudly called "Mad Dog".

While Trump and Mattis have had disagreements over some issues from the beginning, the President still kept his defense secretary in the loop on major policy decisions.

In recent months, however, Trump has soured on Mattis, in part because he believes the Pentagon Chief looks down on him and slow-walks his directives, officials added.

The dynamic was exacerbated with Trump's decision to appoint hawkish John Bolton as National Security Adviser, which Mattis opposed, as well as Mike Pompeo's confirmation as Secretary of State.

Trump is now more inclined to rely on his own instincts or the advice of Pompeo and Bolton on major policy issues, sources told NBC.

The development comes as Mattis is embarking on a tour of Asia amid increased tensions with China over trade and what officials call militarization of the South China Sea, as he will be visiting Beijing this week.

Mattis’s mission comes as the Trump administration is set to start taxing $34 billion in Chinese goods, while Beijing has promised to impose retaliatory tariffs on American products.

June 29, 2018 - Lavrov says had no idea about Russian compromising materials on Trump
Lavrov says had no idea about Russian compromising materials on Trump

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said it’s a news for him to hear that Moscow has any sort of compromising material on US President Donald Trump.

"I hear this for the first time that we have compromising material on Donald Trump," he said in an interview with the UK’s Channel 4 on Friday when asked whether it helps Moscow in dealing with Trump that many people think that Russia has compromising material on him.

According to the Russian diplomat, it is rather US Special Counsel Robert Mueller who "is trying to dig" such compromising material to prove Russia’s meddling with the US presidential elections in 2016. In this context, the Russian minister confessed he had "stopped reading news from this investigation."

Lavrov added that the topic of Russia’s alleged interference into presidential elections in the United States was used to ruin relations between the two nations.

"When Rex Tillerson was Secretary of State, he once stated publicly that they have undeniable proof. And then during our contact I said, ‘Rex, can you give this undeniable proof to us because we don’t understand what’s going on, maybe this is something we can explain.’ He said, ‘Well, we cannot give it to you, we cannot compromise sources and, besides, your special services, your security people know everything. Ask them,’" he told the UK’s television Channel 4. "Is it the way to handle serious things?"

"It is a matter, which is used to ruin the Russian-American relations. And to answer the way which he did I believe it’s not mature, it’s very childish," he said. "I believe that what is being done in the context of the Russiagate in the United States, as President Putin has repeatedly said, is manifestation of deep domestic controversy because the losers don’t have the guts to accept they lost the elections."

Mueller launched his ‘Russiagate’ investigation a year ago, in May 2017. To date, charges have been brought against 19 individuals, including five Americans, 13 Russian citizens and one Dutch national.

US President Donald Trump and his aides have repeatedly rejected allegations of any illegitimate contacts with Russian officials during his 2016 election campaign. Moscow has likewise refuted allegations about attempts to influence the US presidential election on numerous occasions.

Farsnews

As protests flare across the United States over the Donald Trump administration's zero-tolerance policy, 575 demonstrators, including a Democratic congresswoman, were arrested at a rally in the capital Washington, D.C.

Hundreds of people gathered Thursday at a Senate office building to protest the Trump administration's now-rescinded policy of separating migrant families at the Southern border, Daily Sabah reported.

The protests offered a glimpse of what might happen on Saturday when rallies are planned coast to coast.

Fri Jun 29, 2018 - Protesters Greet First Lady with Inflatable Donald Trump in Klan Outfit at Border Facility
Farsnews

People greeted first lady Melania Trump in Phoenix on Thursday with a giant balloon mocking her husband, US President Donald Trump.

A group of demonstrators waited for the first lady to arrive at the facility with a balloon depicting President Trump in a Ku Klux Klan outfit across the street from the Southwest Key migrant holding facility, according to local reporters, The Hill reported.

Southwest Key is a nonprofit that runs 26 immigrant shelter facilities for children across Texas, Arizona and California.

The first lady, who arrived in Tucson, Ariz., earlier Tuesday morning for her second visit to an immigrant holding facility in a week, made the stop at the Phoenix shelter for migrant children shortly after.

The demonstration arrives after reports emerged of thousands of migrant children being separated from their families in recent months as a result of the Trump administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy implement last month.

The controversial policy sought to enforce its policy calling for the prosecution of all immigrants who cross the US-Mexico border illegally.

Trump signed an executive order last week allowing children to be detained alongside their parents or guardians after visuals and audio went viral showing crying migrant children being separated from their parents along the Southern border, which sparked outrage across the US.

This was an interesting watch. I haven't watched all of it since it's quite long, but the first few minutes are "sufficient". I'm sure you've seen videos by 'Bombards body language', and here she's dissecting the recent hearing with Rosenstein and Wray. Seeing Rosenstein you kinda know instinctively that he's a weasel, but this analysis really show all the dirty details. That constant smirk and big smile as he greets 'those in the club' at the beginning of the hearing... :barf:

Police use pepper spray and non-lethal ammunition on rival protesters after rally

A riot was declared in downtown Portland, Oregon, on Saturday evening as the city exploded into its worst protest violence of the Trump era.
More than 150 supporters of the far-right Patriot Prayer group fought pitched street battles with scores of anti-fascist protesters. In total, nine people were arrested.
The far-right march had started near Schrunk Plaza in the city centre, where the rightwing group had held a rally, led by the Patriot Prayer founder and Republican US Senate candidate Joey Gibson.
As soon as the group left the plaza, they clashed with anti-fascists who had been waiting across a heavily barricaded street nearby.
As the two groups came to blows, Department of Homeland Security officers fired non-lethal ammunition towards the counter-protest.
Later the groups met on another street nearby, where the worst of the violence took place.
Patriot Prayer supporters – many of whom wore the colours of a rightwing fraternity called Proud Boys – were seen hitting counter-protesters with flagpoles, trash can lids, and their fists.

Counter-protesters, some clad in “black bloc” clothing and masks, released deafening fireworks, and punched back at Patriot Prayer supporters.
While anti-fascists used pepper spray, Patriot Prayer members had been unable to take theirs into a federal park. The melee lasted several minutes before Portland police revoked the permit for the march and cleared the street. The groups clashed again soon after and police used pepper spray to separate them and declared a riot at 6.15pm local time.
People in both groups suffered head and facial wounds in the fighting.
Patriot Prayer protesters made their way back to Schrunk Plaza and vented their rage in speeches.
Regular Patriot Prayer rally attendee Katherine Townsend told the group that Portland police had “set us up”, and accused them of “disarming us and herding us towards antifa”.
Townsend said: “It’s not Portland any more, it’s Portlantifa.” But she and other members of Patriot Prayer said they would come back to the city to assert their message of “freedom of speech”.
Gibson said they would “storm city hall” if necessary to get their message heard.
On Facebook, Gibson echoed Townsend’s remarks, writing that: “Portland police allowed criminals to charge our permitted march then declared our march a riot and revoked our permit.”

Unlike recent protests, many participants on the Patriot Prayer side had travelled from around the country, after Gibson issued a national call for assistance.
In a statement, Portland police’s deputy chief, Bob Day, said: “Portland police planned for today’s protest so that people could exercise their first amendment rights to speech and assembly.
“However, once projectiles, such as fireworks, eggs, rocks, bottles and construction equipment were thrown and people were injured, we ordered people to disperse.”
A spokesman for the groups organising the counter-protest, Rose City Antifa, said they were “not surprised by the level of violence, given Patriot Prayer’s rhetoric on social media in the lead-up to the rally”.

Members of Antifa clashed with members of the conservative group Patriot Prayer Saturday evening in Portland, Ore., forcing police to declare that a riot was taking place as officers fired paintballs filled with tear gas into the crowd, according to the Oregonian.

Scuffles broke out shortly after 6 pm local time as Antifa protesters pelted marchers from the conservative group with eggs, water bottles and firecrackers as the marchers spilled out into downtown Portland for their legally permitted march in support of a conservative Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate. The march followed an afternoon rally at Terry Schrunk Federal Plaza, Reuters reported.

Officers seized weapons like utility knives, clubs and chemical sprays from Antifa protesters as they gathered nearby for their counter-rally.

Portland police eventually made four arrests during the demonstrations - though they said none of them were related to the day's events. Four others had to be taken to the hospital after being struck by projectiles.
2018.07.01antifa.JPG

The hostilities started escalating around 4 pm local time, as busloads of Patriot Prayer protesters arrived at Terry Schrunk Federal Plaza, while members of Antifa gathered for a counter-demonstration at Chapman Square, directly across the street.

There were roughly 150 Patriot Prayer protesters while the Antifa protesters numbered at least twice that. Still, the dueling protests were a fraction of an earlier march in support of immigrant families separated at the border, part of a wave of marches that unfolded in cities across the US. Nearly 5,000 people attended that event.

03.07.2018 - Trump Reportedly Preparing for First-Ever Formal Tete-a-Tete Meeting with Putin
Trump Reportedly Preparing for First-Ever Formal Tete-a-Tete Meeting With Putin

US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, are set to meet in Helsinki, Finland on July 16, marking the pair's first formal face-to-face meeting, an unnamed source familiar with the plans told CNN.

According to the media outlet, Trump wants to have a one-on-one encounter with the Russian President before they are joined by other members of the two delegations.

Following the report, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov didn't rule out the possible one-on-one meeting between the two leaders.

Indeed, we do not rule out that presidents Putin and Trump will meet face to face first, if the relevant preliminary agreement is confirmed," Peskov told reporters.

The two leaders have met previously on the sidelines of a G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany last July. Back then, at their first ever in-person meeting, Trump was accompanied by a US translator and former US secretary of state Rex Tillerson. The two-hour-long encounter was followed by an informal conversation at a dinner later the same day.

With Donald Trump apparently having a liking for high-stakes face-to-face meetings, his upcoming talks with Putin will come as a follow-up to the historic US-North Korea summit in Singapore in June.

During the Singapore meeting, the first ever between a sitting American president and a North Korean leader, Donald Trump spoke with Kim Jong-un for nearly an hour. The unprecedented talks wrapped up with declarations of a new friendship, and with Trump claiming that the two "have developed a very special bond."

Trump's presidency has been overshadowed by allegations that a special bond was, in fact, at the core of his relations with Russia. The American intelligence community claimed that the Kremlin interfered in the 2016 presidential campaign in the US to sway its results towards Trump.

POTUS, however, has denied colluding with Moscow. Russia, in turn, has repeatedly dismissed claims of alleged meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.

Four Potential Spots Chosen for Putin-Trump Summit in Helsinki – Reports

The Finnish the Ilta-lehti newspaper named on Tuesday four possible locations where the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump could take place.

According to the media, the summit may be held in the government's residence of Konigstedt located in the Helsinki's suburb of Vantaa, in the Mantyniemi residence of Finnish President Sauli Niinisto, in the Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa hotel, or in the presidential palace in the very center of the Finnish capital.

The Konigstedt residence hosted denuclearization talks between North Korea, South Korea and the United States in March, as well as June's negotiations between Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov and Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford. The manor is close to the airport and suitable for the event due to its security and logistics, the media added.

The presidential residence in Mantyniemi can host the summit, which is scheduled for July 16, in the shortest time, while Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa boasts proximity to the city center, the media said. The hotel has no vacant suits for the summit date, the booking desk told Sputnik.

The presidential palace in Helsinki's city center hosted the meeting between US President George Bush and USSR President Mikhail Gorbachev in September 1990.

Globalists Are in Panic Mode Because of 'Putin-Trump Summit'

Judging by the reaction of the US mainstream media, the world, as we know it, will end in July when Donald Trump meets Vladimir Putin in Helsinki. Pundits fear that Putin and Trump will strike a deal that will ruin the current world order.

But why do they think that a deal between the US president and the Russian leader is a bad thing? Why do they say that leaving Putin and Trump unsupervised in the same room is a “doomsday scenario”? Their reasons have nothing to do with American interests. The US media and its “expert community” is nothing more than an external marketing and PR department for the US military-industrial complex and peace is bad for its business. The Helsinki summit is literally a chance to stop a new Cold War, and therefore is a nightmare for the “Washingtonian swamp” that Trump promised to drain.

The US media wants to portray Trump as someone too inept and too vulnerable to go toe to toe with Putin. Politico believes that “the contrast troubles Russian experts and former U.S. officials who worry the president is liable to make promises to a Russian autocrat he seems eager to please.”

The Hill is concerned that "it’s not clear Trump is looking for a confrontational summit with the Russian leader," and quotes Nile Gardiner, director of the conservative Heritage Foundation’s Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, who believes that “there’s no point in having a summit unless you’re going to stand up to Putin."

For Slate, the whole idea of a friendly or even neutral summit with the Russian leader is offensive: "Most U.S. allies dread the meeting because all signs suggest that Trump views it not as a session to clear misunderstandings and reduce tensions on issues where the two sides have common interests (military and intelligence officers have these sorts of discussions routinely), but rather as a summit to build trust and friendship where there is no basis for either."

The bad news for the Russophobes is that Trump wants to meet Putin not because he likes him, but mostly because he needs Russian cooperation on a crucial issue. Namely, without Russian cooperation there is absolutely no way Trump can put an economic stranglehold on Iran and keep the oil price comfortable for the US economy. Let’s face it, Russia is a key player in OPEC, even if Russia is not a formal member of the organization. Only OPEC (mostly Saudi Arabia) and Russia have some spare oil production capacity to cushion the price shock of Trump’s sanctions in Iran. The Trump administration insists that all US allies across the globe must reduce their oil imports from Iran to literally “zero” by November. According to Reuters, “a senior State Department official said this week that countries will need to cut their imports of Iranian oil to zero from November and exemptions are unlikely.”

Without additional production from OPEC and Russia, the sanctions will push the global oil price to new highs. Trump tried and failed to obtain a unilateral output increase from Saudi Arabia.

Because of the so-called “OPEC+Russia deal,” Riyadh can’t unilaterally increase production without breaking the newly established oil megacartel. Washington needs the Kremlin’s cooperation and judging by the statements made by John Bolton during a recent CBS interview, the so-called “Crimean issue” may be a part of a “deal” offered to Russia.

It’s important that Trump seems to know more about Crimea than the average American “expert on Russia.” For instance, he knows that Crimeans are Russian-speaking. Maybe, while preparing for the Helsinki summit he will find out that American volunteers fought for Russia against the British Empire during the Crimean War; so siding with Moscow on Crimea would be a historically justified position for the US president. According to a British historian and writer known for his works on Russian history, Orlando Figes, "a US military delegation (including George B. MacClellan, the future commander of the Northern army in the early stages of the Civil War) went to Russia. American citizens sent arms and munitions to Russia. The Americans went to the Crimea to fight or serve as engineers on the Russian side."

A pro-Russian stance on Crimea has a long history in the US. Moreover, none of the Russophobes who advocate war with Russia (a cold, hot or an economic one) over Crimea can explain why and how such a confrontation would serve American national interests. Those same Russophobes also tend to misrepresent the interests of people like George Soros, who played a big role in the Ukrainian coup, as well as the interests of the American people. Trump has a unique chance to radically de-escalate the relationship between Washington and Moscow. It remains to be seen whether Trump is able and willing to use that chance. However, even a small step towards de-escalation is infinitely better than a small step towards conflict.

In addition, his relatives, also government IT employees, are currently being investigated for alleged involvement in defrauding the federal government as well as compromising sensitive information from congressional servers.

DHS touts drop in border crossings amid ‘zero tolerance’ push
Video / 04:32
The Department of Homeland Security said Thursday that border apprehensions dropped by 18 percent last month after the Trump administration implemented its “zero-tolerance policy” toward illegal immigrants crossing the border.

"Following the implementation of the administration’s zero-tolerance policy, the June 2018 Southwest Border Migration numbers declined by 18 percent when compared to the previous month,” DHS press secretary Tyler Q. Houlton said in a statement.

The statement reflects a renewed administration effort to defend the tough enforcement policy, amid the outcry over since-halted family separations that resulted from it.

According to numbers released by DHS, 34,114 individuals were detained in June, compared to 40,338 in May and 38,243 in April.

“DHS will continue to enforce the rule of law and uphold our nation’s immigration laws as passed by Congress,” Houlton said. “As we have said before, the journey north is dangerous and puts individuals in the hands of smugglers and traffickers. We continue to call on Congress to address the crisis at the border by closing legal loopholes that drive illegal immigration.”
Attorney General Jeff Sessions has described the administration’s policy as “zero-tolerance, zero releases and 100 percent prosecution” for those who cross the border illegally.

But more than 2,300 minors were separated from their families at the border from May 5 through June 9, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

After an intense outcry over the separation of parents and children at the border, President Trump signed an executive order to allow children to stay with parents caught crossing the border illegally.

On Thursday, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said the department will comply with a federal court order to reunite illegal immigrant children who have been separated from their parents after being detained at the border.
