Venezuela Oil: US Declares War on 'Narco-Terrorism'

Another 'oilman' (he is author of a book titled Oil 101 in any case) making the case that Venezuela's 'oil value' is greatly overstated:

From what I understand is that most of Venezuelan oil is hard to refine but EEUU already has the refineries for this type of oil, what is basically lacking is just the prime liquid itself, for the short and mid time usage, so much investment won’t be needed in Venezuela but the extraction process itself, more than that, it seems also what is desired it’s just control on how much of that can China or Russia or Iran get.

Baron is explaing how they structure of Venezuelan oil works. Listen to that 10 min segment, her explains some interesting connections.

PDVSA (the Venezuelan state entity) owns 100% of:
PVD (US entity) owns 100% of:
CITGO holdings (US compnay)

PVD holdings will be sold to AmberEnergy (ownen by ELLIOT Invesment management, founded by Paul Singer)

Paul Singer, a never trumper who funded Hillary and the docier, and on 2024 betted on Trump ($5 mil)

"US president says Colombia raid ‘sounds good’ after Venezuela attack"

“Colombia is very sick… run by a sick man who likes making cocaine and selling it to the United States. And he’s not going to be doing it very long, let me tell you,” Trump stated. Asked directly whether the US would launch a military operation against the country, he replied: “It sounds good to me.”

Trump rehearsed the entire operation for a very long time and planned everything down to the smallest detail, of course, with respect for international law, all standards of democracy, human rights, the Venezuelan and US Constitutions, and the welfare of animals in the Amazon rainforest—parrots, alligators, praying mantises, and anacondas (the CIA chief likely personally ensured this by asking the spirit of the forest himself).

It's no wonder the operation went so smoothly and perfectly, like hitting a hole-in-one from 1,500 yards barefoot, on all fours, and at night. It's interesting that other leaders who would have been able to do this haven't come up with a similar idea—to steal what they like from a given country, like Putin or Xi. But these are world butchers, terrorists (especially Putin), who are light years behind the standards of Western civilization. :-)

Here's a small sampling of Trump's consummate abilities.

Another astute geopolitical take on 'why Venezuela':
Interesting. This is an aspect of (or another way of saying that) the global power and reach of the US Empire is in decline so it feels the need to defend 'its own turf' more aggressively, which translates into more open and 'bold' imperial moves on its side of the globe and less pretense of 'rules based order' and such. More like a game of 'Risk' kind of logic of conquest and colonialism (eg: 'we need Greenland so we'll take it') - less about 'Monopoly' or 'Catan'. In a sense it's good because the globalist utopic project is gone. But for us living under the shadow of the Empire these will be dangerous times. And the risk of global confrontation will still be there for a while.

While Arab States Stay Silent, Palestinians Voice Support for Venezuela's Nicolás Maduro After U.S. 'Thuggery'

The vast majority of Arab states have not commented on the U.S. strikes in Venezuela, but Hamas and Hezbollah condemned them. On social media, Palestinians rallied around captured President Nicolás Maduro, a longtime supporter of the Palestinian cause[…]

A short list of people “showing their true colors“, this time based around the Venezuela thing. In this case though I think it might not be so black and white, at least for some of those people:

US ‘banditry’ in Venezuela is harbinger of chaos – Moscow

Washington’s actions horrify “even the staunchest Atlanticists,” Russia’s envoy Vassily Nebenzia has said

"condemned the US actions as “international banditry.”

“the bell is already tolling” for each UN member"

"Ignoring the threat posed by the US to the system of international relations would mean condoning the violation of international law, as well as disregard for “civilized” conduct on the international stage."

I was remembering that in 1990, the US invaded Panama to capture its henchman, Manuel Antonio Noriega.

In fact, coincidentally, on January 3, 1990, Noriega surrendered to the US military.

Previously, on December 15, 1989, the National Assembly of Representatives of the Districts had formally appointed him as Head of the Panamanian Government.

However, in the trial against Manuel Antonio Noriega in the United States (1990-1992), the court dismissed his claim to immunity as Head of State.

The reasons for dismissing his status as Head of State, according to the Gemini AI, were based primarily on three key legal and political arguments:

1. Lack of official recognition
For US courts, the immunity of a foreign leader depends largely on whether the Executive Branch (the State Department) recognizes that person as the legitimate leader.

At that time, the United States did not recognize Noriega as the constitutional president of Panama, but rather as a military dictator who controlled the country de facto.

2. The Nature of the Crimes
The court argued that the charges brought against Noriega (drug trafficking, money laundering, and organized crime) were private acts, not official acts of state.

The doctrine of immunity typically protects leaders for actions taken in the exercise of their governmental functions.

Since these activities were related to the Medellín Cartel, the judge determined that these actions fell outside the scope of sovereign protection.

3. Deference to the Executive Branch

Under the U.S. legal system, courts are generally very "deferential" to the President's foreign policy decisions.

The fact that the Executive Branch had ordered a military invasion (Operation Just Cause) to capture and prosecute him was interpreted by the court as a clear indication that the State did not grant him any immunity.

The court ruled that it could not grant immunity that the U.S. government itself had explicitly denied him by prosecuting him.

However, Noriega was granted Prisoner of War status under the Geneva Convention. This did not prevent his trial for common crimes, but it did ensure that his conditions of confinement in the federal prison in Florida were more "comfortable" than those of a common prisoner.

This guy mentions that and make really good points here putting everything together, similar to what Tucker has been saying about the US trying to save the Dollar in anyway they can:

Apparently there are explosions, and military movements in Caracas at this moment.

In social media people in Venezuela are speculating that right now it seems there is a coup.

Others are saying that there is another attack underway, since apparently the missile system defense is activated.

Added: apparently missile defense system was responding to some kind of unfamiliar drones activity near presidential palace not military drones.

That's what they say. The rightists obviously don't want the left to continue in any of its forms and the left partly says that she, her brother, Diosdado and Padrino López are the real traitors, that's the remnant that remains. It's not surprising that wanting to cooperate with Delcy is just a cover and then saying that it was his own people who made the coup. Also, if she does not do what the US wants, so this situation of confusion seems like a warning.

It was also speculated that they were drones of the same Venezuelan military and from some videos that I have seen, again they themselves do not even have information about it, that is, they have not been informed that their own drones, their own defense will be positioned to defend the Miraflores palace and that is already suspicious.

I am very far from the conflict zone and in the open sky and this place is very quiet, which allows you to hear things in the distance and yes, airplanes were heard or they are airplane-type drones.

They have also not said that they have activated any defense because Padrino López, curiously disappears. In addition, there are already people speculating with prices that incite looting.

Again!:
Unofficially, as the minutes passed, it was reported that the regime itself had activated some surveillance drones without notifying the Presidential Honor Guard.
Shots and detonations were reported in the vicinity of the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas

Users on social networks reported detonations and bursts of gunfire on Monday evening in the vicinity of the Miraflores Palace, the headquarters of the Venezuelan executive power, in the center of Caracas.

According to sources in the area, the episode began around 20:00 (local time), following the overflight of unidentified drones over the presidential complex.
Confusion over own drones unleashes anti-aircraft fire in Caracas

Drones in the Venezuelan sky cause firing of anti-aircraft batteries... but they were of themselves. The question arises in networks, why were they not used in the capture of Maduro?

The correspondent journalist in Caracas, Jennifer Lopez, said in the Paraguayan program La Monumental: "The situation is still very confusing, really the information that there is is very shallow, small (...) there are reports of shots fired around Miraflores, and it would be an anti-aircraft battery that was apparently activated by the presence of drones near the area.”

"Military officials have been seen around Miraflores, also in an alarm situation because this anti-aircraft battery was activated, however, we have no confirmation that it was an exchange of fire with other officials or with other military personnel, or that these drones that were in the area had a target or additional bombing to what has already happened in the city.”

Later, the journalist clarified in another link: ”There was a situation of confusion around the Miraflores Palace; the information that there is so far is that (...) there was a drone overflight, the military personnel get upset and start shooting, but because the presence of this drone activated the anti-aircraft battery that is inside the Miraflores Palace, and this battery began to emit, to shoot at these drones that are there."

Dave's from Montana, below Alberta (oil country), so its not really surprising. Give him some time as he may come around, although he may not. If he reads into the likes of Crystia (who if he only knew that he would be supporting), he might change his mind:

US State Dept boasted in 2017 that the appointment of FM Chrystia Freeland meant Canada had adopted an 'America First foreign policy'

Under Freeland, the granddaughter of a Ukrainian Nazi propagandist, Canada has strongly campaigned against Russia, strengthened its ties with

Reading headlines today, the old 'regime' word is bandied parroted about as the feature talking point. Yeah, where have folks heard that before?
