Verneuil's disease AKA Hydradenitis Suppurative

Latest update:

Dr Guillem has only now just been able to get the information to me that patientkoret here in Denmark want. The information he has sent to me does not include the price of hyperbaric oxygenotherapy. He will find out what the cost is for this part of the treatment for people from another country as soon as possible. Not being in the french health system this could be somewhere around 8-9 thousand euro for seven days of treatment.

Once I have this information it will be given to patientkontoret.

Patientkontoret have insisted that I have to see the specialist/dermatologist here in Denmark before they will even look at my request to be treated by Dr. Guillem.

This means that by the time they make there decision my penciled in operation date in France will have passed.I have informed Dr. Guillem of this, and if we get the go ahead from this side we will work it from there.

If I am not sucessful because of the price of the treatment, or they say I must be treated by the specialist here, then that is that. Dr.Guillem has specialized in HS since 2006 and has performed 300 operations in regards to this condition. I know who´s hands I would rather be in.

I find myself in a catch 22 situation here. The specialist here may say go for it ,go and see Dr Guillem and then patientkontoret here say no they will not support my want to be treated in France.

Then I may have to wait for a long time to be treated by the specialist here.

I See him this coming Tuesday afternoon.

Fingers crossed.

How is Artreides?

Well, he had his LAST hyperbaric treatment yesterday - because he healed faster than anybody they have ever encountered. He was scheduled for 40 sessions but only had something like 20. In the last week only, there was more than 2 cm growth of new skin. So, that hyperbaric thing really is amazing, but I guess even more amazing on the ketogenic diet. They have some stories about the doctors going into panics about his diet and smoking and telling him, oh, you MUST be malnourished, and smoking cancels out the benefits, and blah blah, but everything they said was wrong.

Wow! I am so pleased to hear this.I was wondering about the diet and if this in anyway effects outcome of treatment. The answer seems to be yes it does, the diet is a positive bonus.

Please give him a big hug for me.

In the meantime I have seen that one can purchase a chamber for less than 6 thousand dollars here -http://www.healingdives.com/1952.html

If my operation has to take place here i am thinking that i can attempt to sell off some of my stuff and go for one.Possibly it will be easy enough to sell it on once I have spent my time with it.

Sounds like some amazing results! I'm glad to hear that he's healing so well

I wonder if you could find a used one somewhere. Presumably, there are people who were in a similar situation as you who only needed it for a particular injury. Once healed, they probably don't have a use for it. Not sure where you'd look for such a thing, but it might be worth trying to track one down in order to get something more affordable.

Did you see this on their page?

Leasing:

This chamber can be leased for $149 per month over a 5 year term.
Leases are available in 24, 36, 48, and 60 month terms.

Thanks Guardian.Yes I know this one , it is over 178 km away from where I live though. There is another one in a hospital on the mainland which is about 60 km away from where I am.So both are a bit too far to be travelling to on a daily basis straight after surgery which is when I will be needing it most.

My Doctor here informed Dr Guillem that Hyperbaric treatment was going to be probably impossible here in Denmark.

Reading up on the mild hyperbaric chambers for the home there are different thoughts regarding them depending who one reads. They feed in compressed room air taking oxygen intake up to 27% where normal room air is 20% oxygen. The only way to increase this is with a oxygen concentrator.Even then one is only going to get somewhere around 40-50% pure oxygen.

I am still searching and reading up on this .

Again thanks for your help here Guardian it is much appreciated.

60km is the same distance as Atreides had to travel every day after the surgery, to go to his hyperbaric treatment. The first 3 days he went in an ambulance, and the rest, we drove there.

Cool so it is possible.Just have to get the Danish Dr to get his finger out and to be a little more helpful, which he has not been so far.We dont have a car and know nobody who can help with driving, so would also have to hope that he will arrange for Falk (the group that usually transports patients to and from hospitals) to transport me.

Anyways will know where I stand come Tuesday afternoon.Thanks.

Unfortunately, you're correct...I asked them.

Healing Dives Portable Hyperbaric Chambers

We only offer financing and leasing in the U.S., however, you might be able to get a loan from your bank or use a credit card to purchase a chamber.
