SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. —
The National Weather Service says that a tornado hit Scotts Valley on Saturday.

KSBW 8 meteorologist Gina DeVecchio confirmed the wind event was a tornado.

In a statement, the NWS said:

“For Scotts Valley, video evidence and radar signatures are enough to indicate a tornado did transpire this afternoon. Our survey crews are enroute to further examine the data with local officials so in terms of actual tornado rating, we'll have to wait on that.”

The event was on Mount Hermon Road near the shopping center.

Scotts Valley police have blocked off the road in all directions.

When KSBW 8 asked the National Weather Service if this was a tornado they answered with the following statement:

“We are aware of the report. We're currently investigating. We had a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for portions of the Santa Cruz Mts including Scotts Valley.”

A Battalion Chief was caught in the 'weather event' and his vehicle was picked up, CAL FIRE told KSBW. "He was hospitalized out of an abundance of caution but is doing well."

Stay with KSBW 8 for the latest details.

On this last Sunday evening the moon stopped in the sky concluding a 19 year cycle.

More on this can be found in the next links:

And to here tell more, this is something more commonly known as major lunar standstill, which occurs each 19 years (actually 18.6y), said the full synodic cycle of the moon. So, as explained in the suggested links: The wobbling Moon to reach its farthest-farthest north takes 9.3 years. And it takes another 9.3 years for the moon to get to its farthest-farthest south. Those years combined make 18.6 years representing the full cycle of this journey — i.e. a major lunar standstill.

So, is it not a big deal? Well, apparently the Neolithic Ireland used to give some importance to such event since the ancient monument of Dowth —also called Dubad— is said built with 115 kerbstones surrounding it. This is half of 230 (~229.9), the number of synodic lunar months within the 19 year moon cycle —each synodic month has 29.53 days (period between same lunar phases).

That’s not all. Furthermore it was in Dowth, tells the myth, where king Bressal tried to build a tower to reach the sky, apparently because he had lost most of his cattle. To accomplish such task at one single day, as he intended, his sister stopped the sun in the sky. But, as one likely can already guess, he failed and over that place abruptly came the sunset. So, today his mound is called Dowth, which means darkness.

Oh, yeah, after that somewhat "hecatomb" fallen upon Bressal, he was left with only 7 cows and one bull. So, 8 animals. Ok…?!!!

Oh, it is funny how this reminds a dream from before all these notes and mentioned research.

Residents of Mayotte have spoken of "apocalyptic scenes" caused by the worst storm in 90 years to hit the French Indian Ocean territory.

Powerful M7.3 earthquake shakes the island of Vanuatu. The US embassy is severely damaged.

7.3 magnitude earthquake damages US Embassy in Vanuatu

The U.S. Embassy in Port Vila was damaged on Tuesday as a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu.

The earthquake struck about 18 miles west of the capital just before 1 p.m. local time, the U.S. Geological Survey said. A series of aftershocks followed, but no tsunami warnings were issued.

This, I think, was discussed all those years ago - from the perspective of the Inuit trying to make sense of all the changes they see. Their perspective is much rooted in the day to day due to acquiring food and survival. They pay attention and know when something has changed.

Amazing footage. I wonder what exactly caused these huge waves?

Three deaths have been blamed on large waves up to 13 feet (four meters) pummeling Ecuador, Chile and Peru, where nearly 100 ports have been closed because of the rough conditions.

Ecuador's secretary for risk management, Jorge Carillo, told a media conference that an "extreme event" was occurring and warned that similar phenomena could be expected in the future.

He added that "unfortunately, we have two deaths, both recorded" in Ecuador's southwestern Manta region.

Another was recorded in Chile, the country's navy said, after a 30-year-old man was found dead at a beach.

In Peru, almost all ports were closed because of the constant battering of waves, the head of the naval Oceanographic Department, Enrique Varea, told the broadcaster Canal N.

He forecast that the big waves "will continue in coming days," but expected them to calm somewhat from Monday, and to return more to normal in the first days of January.

Images shown on local media showed jetties and public squares submerged in some parts of Peru, sending residents fleeing to higher ground.

The waves, according to the Peruvian navy, are being generated off the US coast by winds along the ocean's surface.

Many beaches along the central and northern stretches of the country were closed to prevent risk to human life, authorities said.

Many fishing boats were damaged, while those that were spared were still unable to work in the dangerous conditions.

"We need help from authorities. Here, we've lost some 100 boats," one fisherman told TV Peru.

"I'm 70 years old and I've never seen such unusual and strong waves," he said.

Thirty-one fishermen stranded in the swell were rescued Saturday afternoon by the navy, while one told local radio that around 180 more remained at sea.

The city of Callao, which sits adjacent to the capital Lima and is home to Peru's largest port, has closed several beaches and barred tourist from venturing out.

"The most affected have been the fishermen," Roberto Carrillo Zavala, mayor of La Cruz district, in the country's north, told AFP after surveying damage via helicopter with Peru's Minister of Defense Walter Astudillo Chavez.

"We hope nothing more happens, as this would significantly impact the economy."

The phenomenon began on Christmas and will last until January 1, according to Peru's National Emergency Operations Center.

And now planes cannot land on big airports due to fog ???

Across the Channel, air traffic was still disrupted on Saturday at several major British airports, leading to hundreds of delays and cancellations due to thick fog, according to the British air traffic control service. The British capital's airports are the worst affected, including Heathrow and Gatwick, which are the busiest in the country. Manchester airport has also been affected.

Big airports are equipped for IFR (Instrument flight rules) i.e. to land without visibility, using instruments, so is there something else going on ? I was very surprised by those articles about planes unable to land due to frog over Paris and London. Can it be related to the veil ?

@Windmill knight wrote a related post about people complaining about abnormal frog :

Apparently there is some kind of mysterious fog people are noticing all around the world that is not natural. It's been seen all over the US and UK. This video is quite interesting, you can see whatever it is, it is not normal. People are also getting sick from it.

(Edit: just saw Ellipse's post.)

Was wondering about this too. I saw this post on my X feed with the mention of underwater landslide. In the comments there’s also speculation of a rogue wave, storm surge, or long winds 🧐

I have to say my initial reaction after seeing how the phenomenon was reported in California and north South America (any reports from Central America?) was that it was a tsunami... never seen any storm system cause those kinds of waves over such vast distances.
