What are you listening to?

Heard about her few days ago when seen this:
and been mesmerized.
Really great thing. (Thank you Laura :flowers: - seen on her FB wall)

Yeah, this one is among my favorite too. I was so lucky to be present at one of her latest live concerts, which are very rare and it's hard to get a ticket. When all the tickets were sold people asked to sell them some with no places to sit, so they were just standing all the concert long for several hours - many many people. And after the concert nobody wanted to let her go so she sang again and again for us. Here is this concert which I visited:

A sample that not all metal is about being angry and want to destroy:

We know that it's only human
We know that it's only love
We know that its far too close to home
To see it now

Love all we can before
We learn all we came for
Learn all we can before
The road leads to home

(.........................)

My child tells me
We are the fallen men
My child tells me
We are the fallen men

Laugh, love, live, learn
Laugh, love, live, learn

Finnish metal:

Lyrics:

Now I'm a grey old ghost
Weeping in winter trees
And searching for a soul
Waiting for a voice to come

She was worth dying for
It is my severed woes I cry
Her eyes were pale like dawn
Out of this gloomy light

I'll wait there forevermore
The light holds us forever more
Still one second I wouldn't give away
Cold winter nights, I cry on your grave
Why won't you come?
Why won't you come?

As she is dying in the snow
The moonlight silently glows
Her tears flow down her cheek
When snow falls from the trees

I'll wait there forevermore
The light holds us forever more
Still one second I wouldn't give away
Cold winter nights, I cry on your grave
Why won't you come?
Why won't you come?

The lyrics are more on the romantic side than hateful to my eyes.
I like the power of the sound in this song, I heard them live some years ago and they were fantastic. It was at a metal festival, and the hotel owner where I stayed commented that there were a lot less fighting and hollering with the metal crowd than with the blues people.

Gemini Dreams - Moody Blues
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hW9fADmFrc

vague recall of the C's mentioning that in 4D beings can have a male & female state reminded me of this tune. pulsing tune with stimulating video i think. huge repeat play currently, for another few weeks too I expect

Camera One - Josh Joplin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TipSO1Pta3M

i found this encouraging in staying mindful of being less auto-conforming to others expectations without weighing up things. medium play lately

Good Die Young - Divynils

occasional play. (what a time for one to be young .. sheesh)

I often listen to this - Labi Siffre, "Something Inside So Strong"

The higher you build your barriers
The taller I become
The farther you take my rights away
The faster I will run
You can deny me
You can decide to turn your face away
No matter, cos there's....

Something inside so strong
I know that I can make it
Tho' you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone
Oh no, something inside so strong
Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong

The more you refuse to hear my voice
The louder I will sing
You hide behind walls of Jericho
Your lies will come tumbling
Deny my place in time
You squander wealth that's mine
My light will shine so brightly
It will blind you
Cos there's...

Something inside so strong
I know that I can make it
Tho' you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone
Oh no, something inside so strong
Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong

Brothers and sisters
When they insist we're just not good enough
When we know better
Just look 'em in the eyes and say
I'm gonna do it anyway [x4]

Something inside so strong
And I know that I can make it
Tho' you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone
Oh no, something inside so strong
Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong

Brothers and sisters
When they insist we're just not enough
When we know better
Just look 'em in the eyes and say
I'm gonna do it anyway [x4]

Because there's something inside so strong
And I know that I can make it
Tho' you're doing me, so wrong
Oh no, something inside so strong
Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong .

Tchaikovsky composed this other piece before the concerto, it is very nice:

Complete Score

The piece wasn't so moving. The interpreter was outstanding. Technically.

That little girl can play!

I have had always a strange feeling with this piece, no performance satisfied me because there was something strange, missing, something that didn't make sense at all... Most interpreters play it too fast, too squared... until I discovered this.

I think Anna Savkina plays it so wonderfully in this performance because the tempo is slower and she knows how make a flexible use of it. She knows how to apply to the melody the necessary intensity in the key moments too.

Indeed a very talented girl.

And for the orchestra part, Vladimir Ivanovich Fedoseyev is a very good director and he is maybe one of the few capable of understand the Tchaikovsky's work to the deepest levels.

London Grammar - Strong

This song has helped me through some tough times, it helps me remember to be kind to myself.

"Strong"

Excuse me for a while
While I’m wide-eyed
And I’m so down, caught in the middle
I’ve excused you for a while
While I’m wide-eyed
And I’m so damn caught in the middle

And a lion, a lion roars would you not listen?
If a child, a child cries would you not forgive them?

Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
I've never been so wrong
Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
I've never been so wrong

Excuse me for a while,
Turn a blind eye
With a stare caught right in the middle
Have you wondered for a while
I have a feeling deep down
You’re caught in the middle?

If a lion, a lion roars would you not listen?
If a child, a child cries would you not forgive them?

Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
I've never been so wrong
Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
I've never been so wrong

Excuse me for a while
While I’m wide-eyed
And I’m so damn caught in the middle
Have you wondered for a while
I have a feeling deep down?
You’re caught in the middle

Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
I've never been so wrong
Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
I've never been so wrong

What am I listening to? Well at the moment close to the garden and through the open window, I can hear one of the best avian singers in Europe, a Song Thrush -

and yesterday another fine singer, a Garden Warbler.

Now a blackbird has just piped up.

Wow, treesparrow ! Thanks for sharing.

You're touching upon one of my favorite pastimes: sitting in front of my laptop with window open and listening to all the birdsong available.

I also love 'singing along' with them. Especially black birds are very responsive to any unusual call and always keen on entering into dialog or competition with me for a while.

Have you ever tried that yourself ? It's great fun I can assure you.

Oftentimes I can ascertain the next day or so what they have picked up as new from my inputs, when I hear them echoing some phrases I had previously put forward to them repeatedly.

Always with a 'twist' of their own added to them as well. Very interesting how that works, really.

Might even enhance their chances of impressing females and chasing off competitors. Who knows ? :P
