Paul Simon - The Cool, Cool River

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEQzaS4CnL8

Moves like a fist through traffic
Anger and no one can heal it
Shoves a little bump into the momentum
It’s just a little lump
But you feel it
In the creases and the shadows
With a rattling, deep emotion
The cool, cool river
Sweeps the wild, white ocean

Yes, Boss–the government handshake
Yes, Boss–the crusher of language
Yes, Boss–Mr. Stillwater
The face at the edge of the banquet
The cool, the cool river
The cool, the cool river

I believe in the future
I may live in my car
My radio tuned to
The voice of a star
Song dogs barking at the break of dawn
Lightning pushes the edge of a thunderstorm
And these old hopes and fears
Still at my side

Anger and no one can heal it
Slides through the metal detector
Lives like a mole in a motel
A slide in a slide projector
The cool, cool river
Sweeps the wild, white ocean
The rage, the rage of love turns inward
To become prayers of devotion
And these prayers are
The constant road across the wilderness
These prayers are
These prayers are the memory of God
The memory of God

And I believe in the future
We shall suffer no more
Maybe not in my lifetime
But in yours, I feel sure
Song dogs barking at the break of dawn
Lightning pushes the edges of a thunderstorm
And these streets
Quiet as a sleeping army
Send their battered dreams to heaven, to heaven
For the mother’s restless son
Who is a witness to, who is a warrior
Who denies his urge to break and run
Who says, “Hard times?
I’m used to them
The speeding planet burns
I’m used to that
My life’s so common it disappears”
And sometimes even music
Cannot substitute for tears

Gotta love Eric

Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart, have you begging please, begging please

The bell that rings inside your mind
Is a challenging the doors of time

It's a kind of magic

The waiting seems eternity
The day will dawn of sanity

... don't now ... whole day I have a strong feeling of departure from this beautiful planet ... I feel this is my last round here ... and feel sad kind off, as if we will all be like this community life o this planet Earth will be just a pure joy ... I feel that departure so real that I am already like ok with that ... no any doubts no any questions .. it is how things will be this time and I am just like thinking to do my best here as long as I am ... it is not that I feel it is going to happen soon, but just like it is my destiny and one of the dots get on the life map strongly positioned, and that's it ... :cool2:

I hold, hold my finger in the air
And tell you which the way the wind blows
For I have tried so many times
Damn that look in your eyes!
HOLD ME DOWN
HOLD ME DOWN
HOLD ME DOWN
HOLD ME DOWN

But don't you know that I will be there?
That I will be there?
That I will be there?
Know that I will be there?!

I walked the streets,
A light hanging above me
Until it's way through these dreams
You've told me so many times,
That this is, that is we'll loose our minds
HOLD ME DOWN
HOLD ME DOWN
HOLD ME DOWN
HOLD ME DOWN
HOLD ME DOWN HOLD
HOLD ME DOWN HOLD

But don't you know that I will be there?
But don't you know that I will be there?
That I will be there?
That I will be there?
That I will be there?

HOLD ME DOWN HOLD
HOLD ME DOWN HOLD
HOLD ME DOWN HOLD
HOLD ME DOWN HOLD

The title "why we build the wall" comes from the album "folk opera" HADESTOWN of Anais Mitchell.
Here the lyrics and the original version with Greg Brown:
HADES
Why do we build the wall?
My children, my children
Why do we build the wall?

CERBERUS
Why do we build the wall?
We build the wall to keep us free
That?s why we build the wall
We build the wall to keep us free

HADES
How does the wall keep us free?
My children, my children
How does the wall keep us free?

CERBERUS
How does the wall keep us free?
The wall keeps out the enemy
And we build the wall to keep us free
That?s why we build the wall
We build the wall to keep us free

HADES
Who do we call the enemy?
My children, my children
Who do we call the enemy?

CERBERUS
Who do we call the enemy?
The enemy is poverty
And the wall keeps out the enemy
And we build the wall to keep us free
That?s why we build the wall
We build the wall to keep us free

HADES
Because we have and they have not!
My children, my children
Because they want what we have got!

CERBERUS
Because we have and they have not!
Because they want what we have got!
The enemy is poverty
And the wall keeps out the enemy
And we build the wall to keep us free
That?s why we build the wall
We build the wall to keep us free

HADES
What do we have that they should want?
My children, my children
What do we have that they should want?

CERBERUS
What do we have that they should want?
We have a wall to work upon!
We have work and they have none
And our work is never done
My children, my children
And the war is never won
The enemy is poverty
And the wall keeps out the enemy
And we build the wall to keep us free
That?s why we build the wall
We build the wall to keep us free
We build the wall to keep us free

I stumbled into this nice music, which reminds me on the music of "Russian romantics" but it is more recent. I'm really enjoying it. :)
