A song from my youth. I remember being in the car and my Dad and/or Mom, would turn this one up a notch whenever it came on.

Judy Collins - Both Sides Now (1968)

Bows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way

I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all

Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
When every fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way

But now it's just another show
You leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away

I've looked at love from both sides now
From win and lose, and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say "I love you" right out loud
Schemes and dreams and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way

Oh but now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost but something's gained
In living every day

I've looked at life from both sides now
From give and take and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

Thanks for the song, Azur. Beautiful lyrics and music. Definitely resonated with me.

I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all

...

Oh but now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they tell me that I've changed
Well something's lost but something's gained
In living every day

I've looked at life from both sides now
From WIN and LOSE and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

While Judy Collins had a huge hit with this song, it was written by Joni Mitchell. :)

Funny, I thought Joni's was the cover (I had seen her play it). But I didn't look into it. :-[

Great song. Not surprised at all that Joni wrote it. :cool2:

ColdPlay - "Fix You"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI-o25K6B-E&feature=fvst

When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I...

Tears stream down on your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face
And I...

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Cafe Del Mar volume 5 (cinquo?). Very good! It's getting on to be 11 years old now yet still sounds fresh.

I'm also a huge Cafe Del Mar fan. Cafe Del Mar is timeless. Volume 7 is my favourite.

Here's 'UKO Sunbeams' from that volume:

This song makes me think of a cocktail party at sunset with all the guys wearing tuxedos and the girls wearing cocktail dresses with a flaring bartender showing off.

Beethoven's 9th Symphony.

Our homeroom teacher used to have one day out of the week where he would play classical music & just allow us to read.

I found that listening to classical music helps me to concentrate. I'm scanning the forums right now & am getting ready to read Gurdjieff.

Excerpt from The City by Vangelis.

By far, in my opinion, not only his best, but a brilliant capture of contemporary Life in music, by anyone alive or dead.

This is the final piece of the album. It's an album like Dark side of the Moon, a story you listen to, from beginning to end.

The video presented here shows paintings that captured visually what Vangelis captured in music.

One Tin Soldier (The Legend of Billy Jack)
by Lambert-Potter

Listen, children, to a story
That was written long ago,
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley-folk below.

On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath the stone,
And the valley-people swore
They'd have it for their very own.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

So the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill,
Asking for the buried treasure,
Tons of gold for which they'd kill.

Came an answer from the kingdom,
"With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of our mountain,
All the riches buried there."

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Now the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses! Draw your sword!"
And they killed the mountain-people,
So they won their just reward.

Now they stood beside the treasure,
On the mountain, dark and red.
Turned the stone and looked beneath it...
"Peace on Earth" was all it said.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.
