What are you listening to?

It was Cinco de Mayo
Pillow case on his head
No more breathing time
An ambulance sped
Sped 'round ever corner
Calling out his name
Shot a rabbit from the back seat window
Sat and watched the summer corn grow
Ate ice cream in a desert dream
And got lost in father's singing
Too hot inside
Too hot outside
Lazy days when I said let's go for a ride
We'll sail on Spirit Lake
Me, my pappy, and his lemonade
Tim and Tina were my parents' names
They got engaged
They were inflamed
Seduced by the light of butterflies
How they shimmer, how they glimmer
Those butterflies
We seven kids
We almost died
Nearly put to death
By lightening strikes
Instead there was hot, pink
Flashes in the sky
We climbed the rocks, in snow and rain
In search of magic powers
To heal our mother's pain

I just treated myself to Quadrophenia by The Who, when my intention was to do Christmas shopping:lol:. I haven't listened to this record since 1997, amazing. I'd forgotten how good a record it is.

A trio of songs musing on the murky territories of the mind, from Neil Young and The Who. Along with my books, music helps to keep me sane in this world. It all began with rock music in the late 70's then snowballed from there. A wonderful serendipitous journey ever since.

"Those were the days..." - Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton
(Written by Lee Adams (lyrics) and Charles Strouse (music).)

Boy the way Glen Miller played.
Songs that made the hit parade.
Guys like us we had it made.
Those were the days.

And you knew who you were then,
Girls were girls and men were men,
Mister we could use a man Like Herbert Hoover again.

Didn't need no welfare state,
Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee, our old LaSalle ran great.
Those were the days!

Sometimes we hear songs that sound better in another performer's version, sometimes there are different reasons that completely change the context of the original song.

In this case I couldn't resist with this surreal version of Quenn's song. "I want to be free" presented to Kim Jong Un and his military apparatus
"I Want To Break Free" is a single by British rock band, released on April 22, 1984. The song was written by bassist John Deacon. The song was released on the album "The Works".

'I Want to Break Free' (Queen) - Moranbong Band and The North Korean Military Chorus.

Enjoyed this thanks, always liked the military band style renditions with trumpets and stuff. Also found it very funny too for some reason, (to explain the laugh emoji i put). And him on the video at the end especially, hair blowing in the wind LOL 🙂.. And surreal definitely.

The man steps out in the moonlight
At the sound of a scream from below.
He thinks he is a warrior
So he picks up his sword and goes.
From the mouth of the monster
He rescues the maiden fair.
But we know she's a demon
Come to lure him to demon's lair.
Through restless foliage and tall trees he leads
To a house in a clearing, a place in her fear she calls home.
"Come with me, I need you
I fear the dark and I live all alone.
I'll give you wine and food too
And something special after if you like."
And though his body bids him
To enter in with her
There was something in her manner
That his mind could not ignore.
Also it is whispered
In the kingdom far and wide
To beware a little cottage
In the forest in a glade.
For who knows what magic takes place in his world?
So he just thanks her kindly preparing to go on his way.
"Come with me, I need you
I fear the dark and I live all alone.
I'll give you wine and food too
And something special after if you like.
Come to my garden
Taste the fruits and the spices of love.
You can't resist me
I'm the kind that your dreams tell you of."
"So glad you could make it
We had everything arranged.
So glad you saw fit to pay a call."
Some men never listen
And others never learn
But why this man did as he did
Only he will ever know.
He knew he was walking
Into a waiting trap
Neatly set up for him
With a bait so richly wrapped.
So he went inside there to take on what he found
But he never escaped them, for who can escape what he desires?
"Come with me, I need you
I fear the dark and I live all alone.
I'll give you wine and food too
And something special after if you like."
