Wax Fang: WWII (Pt.2)

Lyrics to World War II (Pt. 2) :

headache! heartbreak! rattlesnake, rattle!
it all sounds inane
when you shout at the top of your lungs!
we were young!
our tongues were like eels
sticking out of our mouths at people!

handshake! earthquake! mind over matter!
don’t be so amazed
when towers come tumbling down
to the ground, what sounds you will hear
as the mountains, the valleys, the oceans
all disappear!

bombs from above
will kill you if you catch one of them
this is a call to arms
withdrawal

From http://www.lyricsmania.com/world_war_ii_pt_2_lyrics_wax_fang.html
rattlesnake, rattlesnake, rattlesnake, rattle!
cattle make cattle make cattle make cattle!
air raid! blitzkrieg! battleship, battle!
the television is the stage
for the family home theatre of war!
of coarse, the apocalypse is here!
it’s an eye for an eye, an ear for a souvenir!

La-di-da, da-da, da-da, da-da……

Nice music, video and music really go together, it made me think and reminded me how small we are, and how little we know and how is universe infinite and in a way this music give it some calmness, perfection that it truly has in a way, thanks for sharing, I'm always open to new kind of music and always search for something new, this is jewel!

People hold on - Lisa Stansfield

I can't decide which performance of this song I like best.

This one...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_gjJeuZsIc

...or the '89 version with Coldcut:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx3ek5D6rxU

...So both versions must be my favorite. Must be the bongos. :)

Lyrics:

Everybody's looking for a meaning
Everybody's doing their own thing
And nobody's solving the problem
Ain't nobody helping each other

Some people give into fear
Some people give into hunger
Some of us live for the future
And some of us wonder

Givin' into life, givin' into love
Maybe there's enough for everyone
Givin' into hope, and into trust
Maybe there's enough for everyone

Chorus:
People hold on
Don't do yourself wrong
People hold on
We've got to be strong
People hold on

Everybody's getting frustrated
Why should we live with this hatred
We're all dancin' on a thin line
They're makin' out we're having a good time
So who's gonna give us the answer
Sister and brother

Givin' into life, givin' into love
Maybe there's enough for everyone

Chorus

People hold on, people hold on to it
you know you gotta do it

Givin' into life, givin' into love
Maybe there's enough for everyone
Givin' into hope, and into trust
Maybe there's enough for everyone

Chorus

Anathema - Lost Control http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-55ZYpTwu1g

Life has betrayed me once again,
I accept that some things will never change.
I've let your tiny minds magnify my agony,
and it's left me with a chemical dependancy for sanity.

Yes, I'm falling... how much longer till I hit the ground?
I can't tell you why I'm breaking down.
Do you wonder why I prefer to be alone?
Have I really lost control?

I'm coming to an end,
I've realised what I could have been.
I can't sleep so I take a breath and hide behind my bravest mask,
I admit I've lost control.

And for brighter days: ;)

Anathema - Universal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8Pk_WA-Q_Q

Above the clouds
We flew to heaven
Through the eye of the storm
And into to the light

I see you
You're everywhere I go
In everything I do

I dreamed a thousand years
Just to be here where everything is right
Scrape those screamless skies
Defy the limits and fly

Song sounded familiar... brought a feeling back and I thought where did it come from??? American Beauty, the scene of the dancing plastic bag.
This song along with what the character talks about made me cry when I first saw it and still does to this day.

Every now and then I get a feeling best described by this line of the song Alegría:

There's a love in me raging, Alegría! A joyous, magical feeling.

...and I get all teary eyed and practically 'ache' for the beauty, excellence and wonder of my favorite performance of CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: Alegría

In this video, Francesca Gagnon, who was one of the first original singers in Alegria when it came out back in 1994, came back from retirement to sing in this concert one last time for this one special night.

This video is the same song, but includes some clips from the actual performances. Unspeakably, breathtakingly wonderful, OSIT. I have marveled in wide-eyed wonder and had every detail of every moment of this performance burned in memory forever, I think.

The beauty in human art and human achievement makes life so very wonderful and makes me feel glad just to be alive and to witness it. But, I am in THAT mood at the moment, after all. :)

Lyrics for Francesca's performance:

Alegria
Come un lampo di vita
Alegria
Come un pazzo gridare
Alegria
Del delittuoso grido
Bella ruggente pena,
Seren
Come la rabbia di amar
Alegria
Come un assalto di gioia

Alegria
I see a spark of life shining
Alegria
I hear a young minstrel sing
Alegria
Beautiful roaring scream
Of joy and sorrow,
So extreme
There is a love in me raging
Alegria
A joyous,
Magical feeling

Alegria
Come un lampo di vita
Alegria
Come un pazzo gridare
Alegria
Del delittuoso grido
Bella ruggente pena,
Seren
Come la rabbia di amar
Alegria

Come un assalto di gioia

Del delittuoso grido
Bella ruggente pena,
Seren
Come la rabbia di amar
Alegria
Come un assalto di gioia

Alegria
Como la luz de la vida
Alegria
Como un payaso que grita
Alegria
Del estupendo grito
De la tristeza loca
Serena
Como la rabia de amar
Alegria
Como un asalto de felicidad

Del estupendo grito
De la tristeza loca
Serena
Como la rabia de amar
Alegria
Como un asalto de felicidad

There is a love in me raging
Alegria
A joyous,
Magical feeling

Same here. It's my favourite scene from the movie. Really moving.

These new puritans - We want war

Some of these trees have been growing for years
the leaves on the floor must be five metres deep
the paths are a labyrinth or even a trap
some tides don't turn some things never come back.

Secret recordings were made in the marsh
I bore a hole in the tree just to see
Knights dance in molecules, here's Gallahad
They're rising back up, they're rising back up.

Shadows dance back up, it's happening again
If you listen carefully you might hear them whisper:
"We hold all the secrets, we hold all the words;
but they're scrambled and broken so you'll never know"

[And that the Thames flows beneath the grass]
Can't you see them floating like black ash?
Can't you feel them crawling down your back?
Can't you feel them breathing down your neck?
Sea breeze, sea breeze.

A bittersweet Christmas song by Greg Lake from 1974 -"I Believe In Father Christmas"

They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
But instead it just kept on raining
A veil of tears for the Virgin's birth
I remember one Christmas morning
A winters light and a distant choir
And the peal of a bell and that Christmas Tree smell
And their eyes full of tinsel and fire
They sold me a dream of Christmas
They sold me a Silent Night
And they told me a fairy story
'Till I believed in the Israelite
And I believed in Father Christmas
And I looked at the sky with excited eyes
'Till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn
And I saw him and through his disguise

I wish you a hopeful Christmas
I wish you a brave New Year
All anguish pain and sadness
Leave your heart and let your road be clear
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
Hallelujah Noel be it Heaven or Hell
The Christmas you get you deserve.

Reading SOTT has me in a Tool mood today: Vicarious and Right in Two.

Right in Two is in 11, which I kind of like:

Angels on the sideline,
Puzzled and amused.
Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they're all confused.

Don't these talking monkeys know that Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly monkeys
Where there's one you're bound to divide it right in two.

Angels on the sideline,
Baffled and confused.
Father blessed them all with reason,
And this is what they choose?

Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys, give them thumbs, they forge a blade,
And where there's one they're bound to divide it right in two.

Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys, give them thumbs, they make a club to beat their brother down.
How they've survived so misguided is a mystery.
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability
To lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here.

Gotta divide it all right in two.

Fight till they die over sun, over sky,
They fight till they die over sea, over air,
They fight till they die over blood, over love,
They fight till they die over words, polarizing.

Angels on the sideline again,
Benched along with patience and reason.
Angels on the sideline again,
Wondering where this tug of war will end.

Gotta divide it all right in two.
