(My daughter used the first part of this song yesterday to audition for a school musical)

A great example of a very prod moment for parents, and the rewards of knowing success for a job well done in child rearing. I have only witnessed, through friends that share similar feelings, that you have described with a tremendous amount of joy, and accomplishment. Congratulation's

Strange World - Iron Maiden

The only place where you can dream,
Living here is not what it seems.
Ship of white light in the sky,
Nobody there to reason why.
Here I am, I'm not really there,
Smiling faces ever so rare.
A let's walk in deepest space,
Living here just isn't the place.

Stalks of light come from the ground,
When I cry there isn't a sound.
All my feelings cannot be held,
I'm happy in my new strange world.
Shades of green grasses twine,
Girls drinking plasma wine.
A look at love, a dream unfolds,
Living here, you'll never grow old.

Don't you hear me call? Ooh

---

This song is usually preceded by the instrumental Transylvania. I've been listening to the Best of the Beast version which has a different singer (Bruce Dickinson instead of Paul Di'Anno). Not entirely sure why but I can't get enough of it.

A tribute to what is happening in Egypt right now. Hopefully they don't get fooled again, but Ponerology is the nature of this world it seems.

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again

Change it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fall that's all
But the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
For I know that the hypnotized never lie

Do ya?

There's nothing in the street
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now the parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Oh well, the Bruce is the Bruce indeed!
Another Iron Maiden song that I can listen over and over again is "Wasted Years". Danny Cavanagh from Anathema made an amazing acoustic version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjba06AGUQs

Lyrics:

Wasted Years
[(Smith) 5:06]

From the coast of gold, across the seven seas
I'm travellin' on, far and wide
But now it seems, I'm just a stranger to myself
And all the things I sometimes do, it isn't me but
someone else

I close my eyes, and think of home
Another city goes by in the night
Ain't it funny how it is, you never miss it 'til it's
gone away
And my heart is lying there and will be 'til my
dying day

[Chorus:]
So understand
Don't waste your time always searching for
those wasted years
Face up... make your stand
And realise you're living in the golden years

Too much time on my hands, I got you on my mind
Can't ease this pain, so easily
When you can't find the words to say it's hard to
make it through another day
And it makes me wanna cry and throw my
hands up to the sky

It reminds me so much of Chinese pentatonic, I have to get my music history straight, why would these, so far appart, regions have so similar tonalities.

Chines pentatonic? What is the difference between what I learned to be the pentatonic in the USA, and this Chinese pentatonic?

"A Change is Gonna Come"
Same Cooke, 1963

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbO2_077ixs

I was born by the river in a little tent
Oh and just like the river I've been running ever since
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

It's been too hard living but I'm afraid to die
Cause I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

I go to the movie and I go downtown somebody keep telling me don't hang around
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

Then I go to my brother
And I say brother help me please
But he winds up knockin' me
Back down on my knees

Ohhhhhhhhh.....

There been times that I thought I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

Great pics!!! I really like number 3 :)

Hi EGVG, Colors, beads, bells, and feathers play a promote role in the attire during ceremonial, celebration, war dances and when communicating with Sprite world, when holding Powwows . Most all game that was taken for food, was utilized, from bones, to make bottons, and hook's, to feathers, claws, to make jewelry. Nothing was ever left for waste.

Each, and every tribe (50 Indian nations at the height of there existence) from Cheyenne, Hopi, Cherokee, Navajo, Blackfoot, and Pawnee (the more familiar nations) all had different costumes which held different meanings for different uses.

But it's always the colors, that are displayed that seem genrate the mood and tone of the ceremony and the festive spirit.

Certainly we could learn from there past, from there hunting, and survival skills, (if that time should come) as hunter gathers.

Most Native men did not wear a shirt, but the warriors of the Plains had decorated "war shirts" of ermine, beadwork, and quillwork.
Most Indian women wore skirts and leggings, varying in design, material and length from tribe to tribe. In other tribes, women wore a one-piece dress.

All Native peoples wore moccasins in some form.
And for cold weather there were...cloaks, fur parkas, mukluks, leather leggings, and fur trousers.
What varied most from group to group were headgear and formal ceremonial clothing.

Respect of nature is foremost in the belief systems of the Native Americans. This not only includes the Earth and environment, but also animals. When Native American Indian clothing was made, they were never wasteful with animal products - they took what they needed and needed what they took. Quills from porcupines, feathers from eagles, and skins from deer were just some materials used for clothing. Whether it was leather for moccasins, fur, or quills and shells, the animals that gave their lives for human use were to be treated with respect, dignity, and care.

Talking Heads - "This Must Be The Place" (Naive Melody)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTPqPZzH-LA

Home is where I want to be
Pick me up and turn me round
I feel numb - born with a weak heart
I guess I must be having fun
The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground
Head in the sky
It's ok I know nothing's wrong . . nothing

Hi yo I got plenty of time
Hi yo you got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money
Always for love
Cover up and say goodnight . . . say goodnight

Home - is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home - she lifted up her wings
I guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from another
Did I find you, or you find me?
There was a time Before we were born
If someone asks, this is where I'll be . . . where I'll be

Hi yo We drift in and out
Hi yo sing into my mouth
Out of all those kinds of people
You got a face with a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home and
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till I'm dead
Eyes that light up, eyes look through you
Cover up the blank spots
Hit me on the head Ah ooh
