I don't know why the choice of a genealogy program is important (any of them will work or just pen and paper), but maybe Laura mentions what she is using in her genealogy page:
Just a few days ago I decided to take the plunge and start a genealogy project - I signed myself up to Ancestry as a starting point.
For a beginner like me I have to say that Ancestry makes the process quite simple for you, so its helping me to get my bearings.
I've not progressed that far yet, but its proving to be very interesting (why did I not take much of an interest before??).
I have my fingers crossed that I'll come across an ancestor who was an upstanding member of the ton..
I'd be very interested to know if anyone has has any experience with using any of the DNA services that are available? Ancestry evidently has a DNA service that can include information on traits related to nutrition, performance and appearance.
