What's going on in Africa...

This ECOWAS seems to be a strange organization. It's goal seems to be about perpetuating colonial rule, and the puppet leaders that enforce it.

This article goes a long way explaining what is going on...

ECOWAS versus Niger: Who is fooling who?

A snippet:

We worked hard, took many bullets and took great risks to put this Government in place and we not only have a big stake in it but we must also ensure that it succeeds.

Apart from our unalloyed loyalty and unflinching support and our commitment to assist him in weathering every storm and stabilising the country there is only one thing we owe the President and that is to always tell him the plain truth.

Today that truth is that the pending attack on Niger Republic is unpopular at home and, if unleashed, would be a monumental error.

If ECOWAS must go into Niger in the name of wanting to restore constitutional order so be it but let them do so without any Nigerian troops.

Let the French and their Franco-phone allies in our sub-region, with American intelligence and logistical support, do the job on their own and leave us out of it.

It is only if our nation is attacked or our sovereignty violated that we should get into the fray.

Yeah, I get the sense that the ECOWAS is just like the OAS in Latin America, an arm of Washington.

I also caught this tonight:

Niger reportedly deployed troops on its borders with Benin and Nigeria in anticipation of possible intervention
Niger has deployed troops on its borders with Benin and Nigeria in the face of a possible military intervention by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), reports the Mali Actu media, citing the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (CNSP). The Nigerian military junta assured that they are ready to repel any foreign threat.

Meanwhile, this Thursday, the ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence Staff began a two-day meeting in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, to finalize plans for the deployment of the Standby Force for the restoration of constitutional order in Niger.

"Restoration of the constitutional order in Niger" are exactly the same words that Nuland used. So I guess this is the line the US State Dept. pushed to ECOWAS. Which is code for, "lets overthrow the junta and bring back Bazoum".

The Duran don't predict exactly what's going to happen but make a good point. It's already clear that the West, especially the US, is really losing its touch. Compared to decades past, their diplomacy skills have deteriorated to the point that they can't carry out their manipulations effectively. When nobody or trusts or believes them, and they aren't in a strong position to leverage their power (in this case, using nearby countries to do their dirty work) they're out of ideas. The pathocracy overreaches, its agents increasingly overestimate their own abilities and it will, hopefully, be their downfall.

The situation is developing, everyone is preparing.
France will transfer 700 troops to the south of Libya, threatening Niger and Chad at the same time
France is increasing its presence at the Al-Vihg airbase in Libya.

In the context of the growing tension in the south of Libya, the French Army decided to send additional troops to the Al-Vihg airbase. At the moment, the base is under the control of the Libyan National Army, led by Haftar. As a result of this decision, the number of French military personnel at the base increased to 400 people. However, according to preliminary data, France plans to increase this number to 1,000 troops.

Such a decision may be related to the discussed possibility of military intervention in Chad, which is located to the south of Libya. In addition, the strengthening of the French military presence in the region may indicate preparations for a new operation in western Libya with the active support of France.

Moreover, the deployment of the French army in the south of Libya coincided with the preparation of the invasion of the ECOWAS countries in neighboring Niger.

The plane with representatives of the Wagner PMCs arrived in Mali amid a sharp military escalation in neighboring Niger
Representatives of the Wagner company arrived in Mali amid the aggravation of the situation in the region.

According to information from a local source in Mali, an IL-76 aircraft arrived in Bamako, the capital of the country, on board of which were representatives of the private military company Wagner.

Although the official purpose of their visit has not yet been disclosed, experts suggest that the arrival of the company's management may be related to the deterioration of the security situation in the region. It is also possible that the discussion of possible cooperation with neighboring Niger, where the probability of a military invasion remains very high, is on the agenda.

The situation in Mali has been escalating in recent months. In the context of growing internal tensions and external challenges, the country's leadership may seek new ways of cooperation with international partners. The arrival of Wagner representatives may be one of the steps towards stabilizing the situation in the region, especially against the background of frequent militant attacks.

They are quite arrogant, aren't they. A few days ago, I posted an XT with a clip showing the Ugandan President Museveni, explaining how six African presidents or their representatives were not allowed to fly into Libya in 2011 in an attempt to solve the conflict they had with Muammar Khadaffi, or the one he had with the uprising NATO forces had set up. We are no longer in 2011, but in 2023:

“Many forces have worked to prevent the success of this summit. We had enormous difficulties to get here. […] And I know that other delegations have experienced the same difficulties”.
Several African presidential planes were not allowed to overfly certain intermediary Western countries on their way to Russia. He himself landed in Dubai and had to take another plane from there.

The video is in French and on Odysse. It was possible to find it on Xtwtr:

BRICS Summit: Here are the road closures and rules for travel in Joburg
South Africa, in particular Johannesburg, will be abuzz over the next week as the 15th BRICS Summit is set to take place at the Sandton Convention Centre from August 22 to August 24.
While security has been beefed up to its maximum, residents and motorists in the City of Johannesburg have been advised that there would be limited access in areas surrounding the Sandton Convention Centre.
SA-China relations go beyond economic co-operation
Dr Sizo Nkala
Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to arrive in South Africa on a state visit on August 22 where he will meet his counterpart President Cyril Ramaphosa. This will be his fourth state visit to the country having hitherto visited in 2013, 2015 and 2018 and his first visit to Africa since 2018. President Xi’s state visit coincides with the 15th BRICS Summit which is set to take place on August 22-24. The visit also marks 25 years of official diplomatic relations between China and South Africa. However, the relations between the two countries go back to the second half of the 20th century when the Communist Party of China (CPC) supported the anti-apartheid Struggle in South Africa. The two countries have seen their relationship grow tremendously in the last 25 years across the cultural, economic, political and security domains. The relationship was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2010 which meant that South Africa was going to become China’s main ally in Africa. South Africa is China’s largest trading partner in Africa with trade among the two countries reaching $56 billion in 2022 which is about 20% of China’s trade with the entire African continent in the same year. For perspective, this is almost three times the trade between the US and South Africa which amounted to $21 billion in 2022. China is also South Africa’s largest trading partner overall having received 9.4% of South Africa’s exports and been the source of just over 20% of South Africa’s imports.

However, although the volume of trade between is impressive, the bulk of South Africa’s exports to China consists of minerals (about 63%) which does not add much value to South Africa’s economy. Hence, one would hope that when the two leaders meet, they will explore ways to transform the quality and structure of trade between their countries.

China is also a significant source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in South Africa. Its FDI stock in the country rose spectacularly in the last two decades from just below $45 million in 2003 to $5.4bn by 2020. Chinese investment in South Africa has been distributed across various sectors of the economy including mining, banking, agriculture, media, retail, and technology to name a few. Some of the biggest Chinese companies with their African regional headquarters in South Africa include China Construction Bank (CCB), China Harbour Engineering Company, China Telecom South Africa, and Huawei Technologies among others. These investments create hundreds of thousands of jobs for South African citizens and therefore contribute to the economic development of the country. South Africa also has significant investments in China with companies such as Sasol, Discovery, SAB Miller, and Sanlam having operations in China. The two leaders will seek to expand their investment ties for the benefit of their countries. Nonetheless, Sino-South African relations go beyond their economic cooperation. China has a massive human footprint in South Africa with about 350,000 Chinese people living in the country. These people serve as a vital bridge between the two countries especially at the people-to-people level. South Africa is also home to six Confucius Institutes whose role is to teach Chinese language, history, and culture to young South Africans. Cultural cooperation will enhance mutual understanding and further strengthen the two countries’ relations.

South Africa and China have enjoyed mutually beneficial geopolitical relationship supporting each other’s interests on international platforms. Both South Africa and China, through the BRICS platform have consistently called for the reform of global governance institutions such as the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Both countries have committed to enhancing and intensifying South-South cooperation for the benefit of the developing countries. On important global issues such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, China and South Africa have adopted similar positions to the chagrin of the Western powers. On the Covid-19 pandemic South Africa refused to blame China as the West had done and both countries criticised the hoarding of vaccines by Western countries. Moreover, South Africa has resisted pressure from the US to blacklist the Chinese technology giant Huawei. The company was banned from operating in the US and other European countries because of alleged security concerns. However, South Africa dismissed these allegations and allowed Huawei to develop the 5G network in the country. The two countries have also adopted a similar position on the Russia-Ukraine conflict by refusing to be part of the Western sanctions imposed on Russia following its military operation in Ukraine. China and South Africa have emphasised the need to find peaceful ways of ending the conflict by bringing the warring parties to the negotiating table rather than taking one party’s side against the other. Further, despite spirited criticism from the West, China and South Africa joined Russia in conducting a joint naval exercise in South Africa’s Richards Bay. More than anything, this exercise was an expression of solidarity between South Africa and China. President Xi’s visit is likely to reinforce and reaffirm the Sino-South African international solidarity.

A peace prayer will be held in Durban on Wednesday for the BRICS summitthat will take place in South Africa from August 22 to 24.

BRICS came together to look at how the countries could work collectively in terms of the shared values they have in terms of reshaping the current global architecture, taking the interest of the Global South and projecting them as part of creating a more inclusive, representative and fair multipolar world.

Experts have said that in a polarised world, BRICS is playing an important role in bringing about dramatic changes to restructure the geopolitical economy and financial architecture.
They believe that BRICS is acting as a catalyst to bring the global South together and to bring change to the world for the better.
Dr Kesaven Dhavaraj, said the prayer to be held at the Oval next to the Indian Consulate Durban would be held by the Hindu Dharma Trust, a group of peace loving ,responsible South Africans who want to bring together the "Rainbow nation outside the Indian Embassy to show to the world our gratitude towards the great leaders of the BRICS nations and India who have come together to make our world a better place".

"This year 2023 marks 30 years of solid diplomatic relations between South Africa and India.
"In fact, India was the first country to impose sanctions on the white supremacist regime that imposed Apartheid on the majority of its people. With so many other acts of kindness towards the oppressed in South Africa, India has indeed proved itself to be a true Vishva mitra - a true universal friend."
Dhavaraj said they understand the enormous potential of the BRICS Summit being held in Johannesburg from 22nd to 24th August.

"We are sure that the entire country stands with us and our President Cyril Ramaphosa of the Republic of South Africa, in welcoming the world leaders - Prime ministers Narendra Modi of India, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Federative Republic of Brazil, President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation (represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov), and President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China.
"BRICS has the potential for enormous good: as a source for much needed foreign direct investment which leads to mutual investment, job creation and trade and this will lead to increasing the number of employed citizens, and will lead to the alleviation of poverty, hunger, death, disease, and crime."
"We as peace loving and responsible citizens of this great rainbow nation called South Africa, we come together to pray to the one almighty God to bless and guide the great leaders at the BRICS Summit to make the wisest decisions that will inevitably affect us all for the better so that we can live in peace, harmony and plentitude in a world that is free from hatred, wars ,and grinding poverty," Dhavaraj said.

"We pray that South Africa and the BRICS nations will show the world that where love, mutual respect and cooperation exists, it is there that every human being in that region will be able to achieve their true potential by leading a fulfilled life together. This is the true spirit of Ubuntu where “I am because you are “and the sanskrit assertion of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”- where the whole world stands as one family."
The Peace Prayer, a gathering of support for the BRICS Summit is to be held between 9 am and 12 am on 23rd August 2023 held at the OVAL next to the Indian Consulate Durban.
"Spiritual and community leaders and ordinary South Africans will assert their support," Dhavaraj said.
And if you ask, if there was not some western contribution to headlines. Yes, there was. The picture is somewhat embarrassing, but that is the image the West apparently projects these days:

Well, here’s another one. A group of young German tourists recently took things to the extreme for the sake of Instagram fame.
They ended up causing damage to a valuable statue at a villa in northern Italy. Bruno Golferini, the villa’s manager, confirmed the incident.

In addition, two of the group of tourists allegedly even climbed into a fountain to hug the statue called “Domina,” made by artist Enrico Butti.
The significant work showcases Butti's artistic prowess and his ability to capture emotion and form in his sculptures.
While getting their images, another person used a stick to give the statue a push and the 1.70-meter-tall artwork came crashing down.

The situation is developing, everyone is preparing.

ECOWAS talks in Niger ended in failure, the new authorities are preparing for defense
Attempts by the delegation of the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS) to negotiate with the rebels in Niger were unsuccessful, according to the Al Arabiya TV channel.

During the negotiations, the National Council for the Salvation of the Motherland, created by the rebels, under the leadership of the commander of the Guard Abdurahman Tchiani, categorically refused to release the deposed President Mohamed Bazum. The rebels also did not express their intention to restore him to the post of president.

The current turn of events indicates that the countries of West Africa are highly likely to launch a military operation against Niger in the coming hours, as previously reported.

The situation in the republic remains tense, while thousands of volunteers have already signed up for the People's Defense units of Niger.
Переговоры ECOWAS в Нигере завершились неудачей, новые власти готовятся к обороне

The head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, made a video message from Africa and announced the resumption of the recruitment of people for combat operations on the black continent.

According to him, the PMC will continue to carry out its tasks in order, quote, "to make Russia even greater."

Analytics from the telegrams of the Rybar channel:
▪️Given the fact that the recent coup in Niger was carried out in close cooperation (Africa Intel) of Russian special services and PMC consultants, it was extremely reckless to talk about any severing of ties or the withdrawal of PMCs from the Russian field .

▪️As a result of the rebellion, one of the problems was solved: Prigozhin and Shoigu were separated into different theaters of operations in order to reduce crossings to a minimum.

▪️As a result, PMCs, as promised (Рыбарь) by Prigozhin back in May (a month and a half before the rebellion), by August they were reorganized and focused on new tasks.

🔻At the moment, PMC forces maintain an active presence in the Central African Republic and Mali. In Sudan, the mission is minimal, in Libya there is also a limited contingent, and in Burkina Faso active activity is just unfolding.

So the video was most likely recorded in Mali. And given the general direction of PMC actions, the Wagners will most likely focus on restoring order in the area of the three borders (Mali, Niger and Burkina - Faso). There are agreements with local authorities, the green light - either officially or semi-officially - has been received.1692681770685.png

I was interested in this and some ten days ago I was watching Flightradar for a couple of days. What was hapening? Once a day (at least that I saw) unmarked IL76 was landing in Bamako, Mali. Couple of hours after that C-130 Hercules marked as Niger air force, flew from Bamako to Niamey in Niger. That repeated for 2 or 3 days.

Now, I am aware that my imagination is prone to construct things and stories, but nevertheless its interesting.

Some natives (I wrote it so softly) they call a white man to somewhere, the ambassador of a great country. What do they allow themselves?
Rebels in Niger ordered the French ambassador to leave the country within 48 hours

The French Ambassador to Niger, Sylvain Itte, must leave the republic within 48 hours. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Niger, Interfax reports.

The reason was the refusal of the ambassador to respond to the invitation for a conversation on August 25 at the Foreign Ministry and "other actions" of France that "contradict the interests of Niger."

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the military coup in Niger, calling it "illegal and very dangerous." Paris did not recognize the power of the rebels and demanded the release of the arrested President Mohamed Bazoum. In early August, Paris evacuated its citizens from Niger, while France refused to take its military out of the country.

Niger later accused France of preparing a military intervention. On August 9, the rebels claimed that France had violated the republic's airspace. In Paris, these accusations were rejected.

The military coup in Niger took place on July 27. President Mohamed Bazoum was removed, and the new leader was the leader of the rebellion, the head of the presidential guard Abdurahman Tchiani. On August 10, he signed a decree on the creation of a new government, which included 21 ministers.

The Kremlin has previously expressed concern about the situation in Niger. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow stands for the speedy restoration of the rule of law in the country and for "restraint on all sides so that it does not lead to human casualties."
