What's happening in Serbia

and more shenanigans...

Addressing the public on Saturday, President Aleksandar Vucic dismissed the opposition’s accusations, saying a real sonic cannon “beeps so eerily, it causes such nausea and vomiting that you can’t recover from it for days.”

“Just so you know what kind of lies we’re talking about… I am asking the Ministry of Justice and the prosecutor’s office to react – either to prosecute those who used it, and we know they didn’t, but let’s check,”
Vucic said on Sunday.

Milica Stanković, a girl who was injured at a protest on Saturday during a stampede that broke out in downtown Belgrade, told N1 that just before the stampede, she heard a sound like 20 cars driving toward the crowd at the same time, after which they started running away en masse. "I fell, and people kept running over me," says Stanković, who says she suffered multiple knee injuries, both ankles, and a bruise on her right arm.

"We were at Cvetni trg, I was with a group of people. At that moment, there was 15 minutes of silence, and at the 11th minute, we heard what sounded like 20 cars driving toward us. It was such a noise. After that, people started running away en masse, I fell, and they kept running over me. Luckily, we quickly realized that it wasn't a threat and we started to get up and literally watch what happened at that moment. It was a very big shock,” she told N1.

When asked if she clearly heard the sound in question, she said:

Yes, I clearly heard that sound. I’m watching these recordings now and you can’t hear what we heard at that moment on the recording. At that moment, I thought that cars were coming at us and that it was literally the end. That we couldn’t save ourselves, because we were all instinctively taking cover. My friend took cover, but in that crowd, my friend was on the other side when it was all over, when we came to our senses.”

When asked if people, after they came to their senses, were sufficiently composed, she said:

“They weren’t composed, a lot of people came up to me and we were all in shock, wondering what had happened. Everyone was shaking, somehow we couldn’t come to our senses at that moment. We weren’t aware of the situation.”

When the N1 host stated that there were people who complained to the Emergency Center about dizziness, ringing in the ears, and nausea, she stated that she also started feeling this way yesterday. "Yesterday morning I had that nausea and dizziness," she stated.

On the 16th of March 2025, Earshot was contacted by activists in Serbia to investigate the potential use of sonic weapons by the government on a crowd of protestors as they were holding a silent vigil for the victims of the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse.

Earshot received 12 videos that document the moments where a weapon was allegedly used against the protestors. 4 of these videos contain a sound consistent with the noise produced by a Vortex Ring Gun or Vortex Cannon.

As this weapon pushes gas out of its cylinder at speeds of 185mph, its expulsion produces a howling noise which has been compared to a jet engine, along with vortex rings that may be ionized. This would create electromagnetic interference with devices such as hearing aids, corroborating reports made by witnesses at the protest.

Should this be the vortex cannon, these recordings would be more than 700m away. At this distance the combustion of the weapon is no longer audible; only the distinct whistling sound of the pressure wave as it travels away from the shooter location and towards the crowd can be heard, causing mass panic.

As Earshot is looking to further investigate this incident, we ask anyone with video footage from that night that captures the specific sound that can be heard in this post to get in touch with us.

"There was absolute silence, and then a cannon shot was heard from the direction of Pionirski Park. After a few seconds, from some distance, a sound was heard, it is difficult to describe in words, which seemed to me like the hissing of something huge and ominous," Romčević described the moment that caused panic and broke the silence.

This would fit the description of a vortex cannon. First there is the bang sound, and then comes the hissing sound.

Fortunately, I wasn’t close enough to hear anything, but I did feel the pressure and the ringing in my ears. My family was closer—my sister claims the sound was shrill, like a plane descending, and it knocked her husband into her. She only sustained a minor injury from his body hitting her. None of us have symptoms commonly reported, such as dizziness or nausea. We all can confirm the experience was real, but I’m not sure if the theories about sonic weapons are accurate. Despite the political lies, I somehow believe the statements from our military officials who claim they didn’t use a sonic weapon. However, on the other hand, there are various national intelligence agencies or oposition provocateurs who might have used this situation for their own agenda. So many different statemens from every side only fuels conspiracy theories but people would like to know what was that .

The primary reason for the scale of the last protest was not a demand for the government's replacement. While many may desire the president’s resignation, no direct calls for his departure were made. From the outset, the movement has focused on ensuring the proper functioning of institutions and addressing the influence of "local sheriffs"—either by holding them accountable or replacing them if corruption is proven. However, as tensions continue to rise, the situation could escalate in unforeseen ways 😞
Exactly, and the question is: Who would be interested in these protests escalating in unforeseen ways? At the same time as tensions escalate in Bosnia?

Maybe the Serbian government indeed has too many psychopaths who cannot help themselves and just double down with thugs or a sonic weapon. Or maybe outside forces want to escalate the situation through false flag attacks, just like it happened in Ukraine before the Maidan coup.

Yes, it is good to be aware of all the possibilities.

If there is a lot of Western influence in Serbia, student organizations organizing protests would be one of the main targets to infiltrate, influence or buy
Yes thats true ..thats why this time they try to avoid it by different tactics like decentralised leadership coordinated by multiple independent student groups , articulation of clear 4 goals which havent changed, identificarion and isolation od individuals attempting to incite violence or divert the protest's purpose. And by the fact that our students are the only ones in a world who have Lobacevsky "Political Ponerology" as a required textbook at the Faculty of Law, for more then 5 years and book is issued by the University of Belgrade's Law Department

That is pretty awesome actually. With this knowledge the protests may have a higher chance of success.

The warrant means that any police officer who encounters the president of the country's Serb-majority entity of the Republika Srpska must arrest him immediately.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a nationwide arrest warrant for Milorad Dodik and two others, after the President of Bosnia’s Serb-dominated Republika Srpska entity ignored a state-level one last week.

The other two are the entity's Prime Minister Radovan Višković and National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandić. The warrant means that any police officer in the country who encounters them must arrest them immediately.

They are all accused of anti-constitutional conduct. Bosnian media reports that Stevandić has left the country for Serbia.

Bosnia's state-level prosecutors issued arrest warrants for the trio last week, which was has not been carried out.

Dodik has not commented yet on the new warrant but has posted on X that Republika Srpska is taking steps to form its own border police. This will control the border between the Federation of Bosnia and HDodik, who previously said he does not recognise the country's state-level prosecutor's office, has rejected last week's warrant's validity and any attempts at his arrest, and said he will not go to Sarajevo for questioning.

Bosnia's state-level court convicted Dodik in late February of going against the decisions of the country's international peace envoy, Christian Schmidt, which constitutes a criminal act. The verdict is not final, and Dodik can appeal it.

Shortly after, Dodik introduced new laws meant to ban the operation of state-level security and judicial institutions in what comprises about half of the Western Balkan country’s territory.

The decisions have been temporarily suspended by the state-level Constitutional Court.

The European peacekeeping force in Bosnia, EUFOR, has said it was stepping up the number of its troops in response to the tensions.erzegovina, and Republika Srpska, the two entities in the country

Meanwhile, the president of Republika Srpska (the Serbian part of Bosnia and Herzegovina) is making moves that are leading Republika Srpska towards greater independence, unification with Serbia or war within Bosnia.

It seems that Dodik has miscalculated in terms of the support he enjoys from Russia, Hungary and the Trump administration, as well as from his own people.

It is also known that relations between him and Vučić are not very great (Vučić secretly supported Dodik's opponent Jelena Trivić in the last elections).

Dodik was supposed to go to Moscow tomorrow for a meeting with Putin, with whom he has had very cordial meetings every time it was in his interest (usually before local elections), in order to curry favor with the majority pro-Russian population in Republika Srpska.

The latest, unofficial, news says that Dodik is not flying to Moscow tomorrow after all.

Dodik was also hoping for greater support from the new American administration, which he supported in the elections. He wore a Trump cap and celebrated that night when Trump won. But still, Mark Rubio almost declared:

"We don't want any divisions there... The last thing we need is another crisis, and we've already made that clear," Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an exclusive statement to Voice of America, answering a question from Voice of America chief State Department correspondent Nike Ching.
"As for the possible next actions, we are considering various options, but what is absolutely clear - regardless of the possible differences that exist there internally - is that this situation (in BiH op.ed.) must not lead to the disintegration of the country, nor must it lead to a new conflict. We are certainly considering all possible options, it seems to me that discussions are taking place at the United Nations about this right now, so we will see... But I hope that we can do what we can to avoid another conflict starting in Europe...”

A Voice of America journalist, who is covering Secretary of State Marco Rubio's stay in Jeddah for talks with Ukraine, asked him during the flight to comment on his post on X, in which he said that, “the actions of the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik undermine the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and threaten its security and stability.”

“Our government calls on political leaders in Bosnia and Herzegovina to engage in constructive and responsible dialogue. We call on our partners in the region to join us in opposing this dangerous and destabilizing behavior,” the US Secretary of State said at X.

And the funny thing, Political Ponerology was first translated in serbo - croat some twenty years ago I believe, by the people who were interested in Cass material. Some of them are still here (I believe Z is still here)

The translator of the officially published university book, just copy - pasted that translation (or maybe he was one of them, I don't know). Anyway, if it weren't for Laura and them that never would be translated and no one would make it university read.

Who would be interested in these protests escalating in unforeseen ways?

The government. And this could be the reason why they did what they did:

The demonstration was supposed to last well into the evening, with a major peak planned at 8 p.m. But after the sound cannon was deployed, the students decided to end the protest for safety reasons. They took off their high-visibility vests, and the rest of the program was canceled. A protest that was meant to become the loudest hour in Belgrade’s history was effectively stifled by the government.

This incident shows just how far the Serbian government is willing to go to maintain its power. Anyone who still believes that this is a functioning democracy needs to take a very close look.

I also found these comments:

I was present during the attack on citizens on Kralja Milana Street. First, a distant detonation was heard and after 20, 30 seconds, maybe more, a terrifying sound rumbled as if a fast car had passed by.

- Do you know how far sound travels in 20, 30 seconds?

- The speed of sound is approximately 340 meters per second and we read that the speed of a shot of compressed air is approximately 85 meters per second.

If this is true, that would put vortex gun pretty far away from the crowd.

And this is what the government was preparing for the demonstrators in the government organized park gathering:

Some people didn't think it was right that the students ended the protest on March 15th and called on people to take shelter in safety - a video from Pioneer Park that is spreading on social media confirms that it was the best decision.

It was clear to everyone that there were more than just "gangsters" and their trash in Pioneer Park on March 15th, and now a video of a "Trojan horse" is being shared online - a crowd of masked thugs just waiting for their moment in the dark, while the police leave in a column, leaving the citizens at their mercy.

The translator of the officially published university book, just copy - pasted that translation (or maybe he was one of them, I don't know).

I have the book and it is not a copy/paste.

Anyway, if it weren't for Laura and them that never would be translated and no one would make it university read.

And we wouldn't be on a brink of civil war. I think that you are right, this is all Laura's fault. :-D
