What's the weather where you are?

Here in the Canary Islands, the weather has been very cold. It was 14°C in the morning, with wind and rain. The islanders say they've never seen such a cold winter. And the rain, and weeks without sun. Or when it does appear, it lasts for an hour, no more. I take advantage of this to get my vitamin D for 15 minutes, and my dogs do too. It's very humid, but the fields are all green, very beautiful. The parks too, and that's where I go for walks and see how happy the birds are eating little earthworms. It's 17°C here, which is cold because the normal temperatures here are around 22°C. On the peninsula, it's crazy cold, snow, rain, and cold. Seeing all this, this cold everywhere in Europe and America, I wonder if this isn't the beginning, really the beginning, of this little ice age that's supposed to be coming. I'm also thinking about the cold in New York right now. They say it's nearing -20°C and that 800,000 people will be without electricity. If that's true, then we should expect many deaths because who can withstand that cold without heat? I was thinking of the elderly, those living alone, impoverished families, and the children of those families.

It has been accumulating for several years.

Here in Mason, Ohio, the temperature is -11 degrees Celsius, with at least 30-40 cm of snow accumulation in the neighborhood. Last night we received a phone alert that the roads were closed and that we should stay home all night yesterday.

Fortunately, I have a fireplace in my apartment. In fact, the warmth of the fire and the smell of wood are very pleasant. You just have to find something to do to pass the time indoors, because going outside is not recommended.

Well, very very unusual. We have had high winds last Sunday, again during the week and today. Orange alert in Alicante (Spain).
It's blowing night and day and we are having problems with broken fences and uprooted big plants. The sun is shining thought and the weather is mild.
The dogs are not comfortable outside and are looking for any opportunity to get in and lay down.
I feel unrestful but I am following the Cs advice about praying- "Pray without ceasing. The universe is very aware".

Here in Canberra we have just endured an 8 day heatwave (second one this year with only a short break between) with temps above 36°C reaching over 40 on 4 of those days, maxing out at 43°, overnight temp sitting above 20. BoM says the hottest day ever recorded was early January 2020, though this is not true at all, I recall a day when my son was 2 years old in 2005 when we hit 46°, I wonder if they don’t keep proper records or just thing we are too stupid to remember back that far.

It’s been very taxing on the body, sleeping (well, trying to) with aircon a must as our main living is upstairs and holds onto the outside temperatures. Really can’t wait for the rain to come today and cool us down.

The saviour at our house was the chest freezer that I bought second hand in December and turned into a cold plunge/ice bath. My partner has a desk job but my 23 year old son is an electrician and had to work most of those hot days without any cooling, I sent him pics of the ice bath to keep him exited to get home and cool off. (I also found out that water can be below 0° and not freeze under circumstance like ultra still, super clean, pressurised or certain chemicals lowering solidifying temps, out tub got down to minus 1° and was still pure liquid on one day)

Here’s a day at 0° beginning to go solid, those ice daggers were a bit unnerving, but I got in anyway 🥶

The last 5 summers have been very mild, last year I counted only 5 days where the mercury hit above 30°, this one is relentless days of heat.

Here is the article that says in numbers what people could observe in the past few years:

In the financial report of EPS for 2025, it is stated that this company would have achieved a better result, but this, as in 2024, was hampered by bad hydrology.

"The second hydrologically bad year in a row affected the production of the hydro sector to be as much as 20 percent lower compared to last year," the EPS report states.

Data show that last year hydroelectric power plants in Serbia produced around 8,300 gigawatt-hours of electricity, while in 2024 they produced around 10,200 gigawatt-hours. In 2023, hydropower plants produced as many as 12,600 gigawatt-hours.

And so far this year is going in the same direction. There was very little snow this winter.

Days of intermittant rain, some nights where it rained nearly all night long (though lightly), and then last night was some kind of culmination: serious rain most of the night and strong winds. After all that rain over a period of time, the ground was just soup and the wind blew over 4 trees in our yard. It also flattened our pergola. Big mess and too wet, windy, and rainy to do anything about it now. (SW France)

It has been the coldest winter I can remember in 20 years, it has been windy and below zero. For the past 6 years we didn't get much snow, this year we've had a major snowstorm that buried the entire region. Now it's going through a mild warm up that from what they're saying it's to be temporary before temperatures dip again. I'm in the NE USA

It said on our local regional news show there has been 32 consequetive days of rain in our region, which is Yorkshire. To be honest it feels like longer.
I yearn for spring and to hear the birds. Everything is drenched, dark and dreary. I still try to see the beauty in nature in this struggle which is life.
When I walk the dogs on a weekend any field walks turn into a mud fest the dogs need hosing down. They seem to Love it though but not the clean up. 😁
I cannot remember such a long period of cold damp weather. In the last week I've been devoid of motivation I feel like staying in bed.
Everything feels very gloomy. I miss the sun and clear sky's.

Heavy rain again today that’s pretty constant and it’s supposed to be summer in New Zealand. This follows the extreme weather a few weeks ago that caused landslides and floods killing a few people. Yesterday evening we had crazy pockets of hail, forked lighting and thunder. But it was odd because 2km away there was no heavy rain or hail. The colour coded rain radar was a constantly changing patchwork.
